Dana sighed lightly looking at John. Turquoise eyes held an almost pleading look to them. Although Dana had told herself not to pressure him into telling her, she could see that this was really bothering him, and in turn it bothered her. Pulling closer, Dana began to lick his muzzle once more.
"Thanks for the concern... but I've got too much on my mind for sleep..."
Her gaze held his. Of course she wanted to know, but she would respect his wishes. Lowering her head, eyes dropping to her own paws, Dana let her thoughts roll through her mind once again. So much to think of, so many things to evaluate, so many possibilities to consider, even her own future, it was quite a lot to think about.
Glancing at John for a moment Dana smiled. He'll tell me, when and if he's ready... but what could it be... Every other thought wiped from her mind, as she now focused on this new idea.

The look in those turquoise eyes made John want to tell, but he still found that he couldn’t. The pressure seemed almost unbearable because he didn’t wish to disappoint her. After she had spoken, he sat up to look at her. Then he himself spoke.
“Well, you might not want to sleep, but I do.” He gave her a friendly lick on the face. “Wake me if you need anything. ‘Night.” With that, he lay on his side, leaning up against her slightly as he did so. One his head was rested on the ground, he closed his eyes so that those brilliant turquoise eyes could no longer be seen. In the beginning, the aspect of sleep seemed like a nearly impossible task. But, all the running they had done earlier in the day had been tiring. To tell the truth, he was both physically and emotionally worn, not that he'd let Dana know either of those. Gradually, his breathing grew both softer and deeper while he drifted away from consciousness.
At first, his sleep was peaceful as he lay there, but slowly that changed. Now, his once peaceful sleep had turned into a restless one. His dreams, too, had changed which was the main reason for his frequent twitching of his ears, paws, and tail. On occasion, John growled at some unseen terror or mumbled some thing. Now, his breath was louder as various nightmarish creatures plagued him through his dreams.

"Yeah..."
Dana's voice was dull, speaking practically to herself. She rested her head on her paws, but turquoise eyes remained open. Dana delved into her mind, almost annoyed by the many thoughts, and ideas. Thoughts were interrupted, as her line of vision snapped over to John. A warm smile reach Dana's maw, as she reached down, and licked his face and neck for comfort, and reassurance.
Before she knew it the Shepard mix was fighting to keep her eyes open. Finally Dana allowed her lids to slide closed, drawing her into a restless sleep of her own. Her thoughts, had turned to dreams, and nightmares. One had been of her father, which had been inevitable after the day's events, but the other had confused her.
Light surrounded her, neatly making her unable to see. Her limbs felt heavy and weak. The sound of deep voices made Dana spin around to face three canines, she couldn't see their faces, due to the light the surrounded them. "Your time is here, daughter. It is your turn to come home now." One voice, that Dana could never forget, had spoken first. "Come sister, we miss you, you have lived, and now come with us." Dana stepped forward with a whimper. "Melissa?" Dana spoke in an airy tone, with wide eyes. Finally the smallest of the angels stepped forward. "Please, Dana. Leave my daddy be, you time is over..." Dana cringed. Was that...? She started to back up as all three angels started chanting, "It's Over..." A voice from behind startled her, John was speaking this time. "Go Dana, I don't need you here now..." Tears formed in her eyes, as she yelped.
"NO!"
Dana yelled out loud as she suddenly stood, tears stained her face. Her heart racing, fear in her mind. With a glance at John, Dana pulled outside, leaning on the small shed, she attempted to catch her breath, and gather her thoughts.
[Insanely long...]

John was awoken when Dana licked his face, but for a moment. Lazily, his eyes opened, only to shut again when he saw that it was only her. He yawned and was once again thrown into a dark void of nightmares. But, these nightmares were different. Unlike the previous ones, he wasn’t being torn to pieces by some monsters. This dream was of the one day that seemed to have ruined his life. He was brought back to that terrible day, of which still haunted him…
It was four, maybe even five in the evening. The sun slowly began disappearing has it had done on so many occasions. Surrounded by other dogs and wolves, John was in a field of dried grass. Silence. It was all around. Or so it seemed to John as his ears didn’t pick up any sounds from the other canines around him. There were atleast half a dozen, and almost all of them seemed to concentrating one thing. This ‘thing’ was the body lying upon the swaying grass, blown slightly by the. But this body wasn’t just some dead animal. It was the John’s child that was lying in the field, cold and unmoving.
He just stood there, staring that the body of his son. John felt empty, completely empty as he stood there, almost as still has his son. Of course, he wanted to leave this place, instead of staring at his dead child with his neck snapped. But, he couldn’t bring to move or even to tear his eyes away from the body. He wanted to run away and be sick, but, once again, he was frozen.
“No!”
The yell shattered his dreams as his eyes snapped upon almost instantly. John pulled himself to his feet in a matter of seconds, only to see Dana rush out of the shed-like structure. The Canaan Dog didn’t stop to decide if you should go out of the shed, he just went. Once he saw that Dana was fine, he was unsure that she would want him to be out here with her. Slowly, he made his way towards her, shivering from the chilly winds and the rain. “Dana?” His tone was soft, obviously voicing his concern for her.

Dana blinked several times, her eyes felt dried out, as if she couldn't keep them open for more than a few seconds. Her head and eyes lifted, to see John, her expression was still rather frightened though, that dream, and what he said really hurt, although she knew he wouldn't truly say something like that.
"John..."
She spoke just as she released her breath. Although John would never realize, Dana's faith teetered on the edge. She had always believed that any dreams that had the angels of her past, were true messages from them, but would they really come to her like that? Asking her to let go, and just... die? Shaking her head from side to side, Dana tried to get a grip on reality. A flash of lightning, and the roar of thunder, made the dog jump, her hair standing on end, as she stared at the temporarily lit sky.
The rain pouring on her, made her shiver, although fear was a definite factor. Her eyes no longer dried but stung from the rain. Dana felt unable to look away. Was the dream a message? If so what did it mean? Was it pointing to the near future? God, please... Why? She thought silently, but her thoughts slipped to her maw.
"Why..." She whispered, to the sky, as if John wasn't even there.

Even as John frowned, his face and eyes still held concern. Once she turned towards him, he saw that fear and pain that was clear in her expression. That feeling of helplessness began to grip him as it had done that day… Flashes of his own dream appeared before his eyes as he stared at her. There was that torn feeling inside of him as his thoughts were wrapped around that one event. His breathing quickened as pain was scribbled on his own features. When he looked back at Dana, the concern was brought back to life in his eyes and face.
Startled by the lightening, he too jumped, but instead of looking at it as she had, he kept his eyes on her. John saw that she was shaking and knew that it was best that they go inside, before the icy rain didn’t any permanent damage to either of them. “Dana…” he said again, despite the tight feeling in his throat that made it difficult to speak, “It’s freezing out here; We need to get you inside.”
Confusion spread over his features when she said, “Why…”. What was she talking about? And, was she even talking to him? He moved closer to her, only to see that she was staring up into the dark sky. Uncertainly, John spoke up after a few seconds of watching her. “Why what?”

Shutting her eyes, and holding them tight was the only thing Dana could do to keep from just screaming her heart out. Hearing John's voice made her eyes snap open, and she turned to look at him. She could hear the concern, and near fear in his voice as well. That tore at her hear, there she was again, making John worry about her.
"Uh..." Dana attempted to speaking, but it came out as she gasped for air. "... bad dream..."
She spoke, as if she were concluding a previous sentence. Eyes now soft, as Dana swept her mind, in an attempt to focus on John, and make him not worry about her so much. She felt so bad, Dana never wanted him to try and carry her burdens, he already had so many of his own.
"... I--its okay... "
Dana could feel her own voice weak, and uncontrolled. Turquoise eyes remained on her friend, although she stayed still. She was studying him, just in case this could be a dream, she didn't want it to take a bad turn like the other had. After a moment Dana lifted on all fours, and rushed to John, pressing against him, nuzzling him gently. It all seemed to be going in slow motion, but it was clear what needed to be said.
"Stay with me forever... I don't ever want to leave..."
She spoke, eyes shut once more. Dana had stated this before, but this time it had a completely different meaning, it now meant so much more.

”Uhh… bad dream…”
That was all it was? A bad dream? It seemed much more than a bad dream the way it had affected her. Probably worse than his own, if it was possible. The way his turquoise eyes looked at her was as if he was waiting to here the rest. But, when she didn’t continue, his eyes turned soft again while concern filled them again. “… I—its okay…” Despite her saying so, he didn’t believe it because of the sound of her voice.
John was surprised when Dana rushed towards him and nuzzled him so quickly. But, since it made them both feel better, it didn’t seem to matter. "Stay with me forever... I don't ever want to leave..." This, too, came as a surprise to him as he nuzzled her back. For a fraction of a second, he stopped, considering the deeper meaning in her words now.
Stay with her forever? Well, who better than the one who knew next to everything about him? Who else was able to ease his pain and chase away his fears, if only for a few minutes? It would be a bit idiotic to say no; To leave her there all alone when they both had nothing but each other and the ghosts of their dark pasts.
“Always.” It came as a whisper, as a nuzzled her, his eyes shut. “I won’t ever leave you.” John words, too, had that deep meaning, that was different from when he had previously stated it while they sat under the tree. The Canaan Dog seemed to have forgotten that they were in the standing outside in the freezing rain. That was, until the flash over thunder make him flinch slightly. Then he opened his eyes and nudged her lightly. “Come on, Dana. Let’s go inside.” His tone was different that before, holding a different kind of love than earlier. Slowly, he stood and walked towards the entrance of the shed. John stood in the rain, waiting for her to go in before him.

Dana sighed as John stepped back to the shed entrance, watching with eyes that burned from unshed tears. He doesn't understand... she thought. Taking a deep Dana stepped forward, her chest moving in and out steadily, with each breath. Thoughts, words, memories, and everything else flashed through her mind, but one thing screamed in her ears.
"NO! John... I love you!"
Dana nearly yelled at him, causing her heart to skip a beat. She had just poured her soul out to him in a single statement. Dana puled back slightly, her mouth remained open as if she had something to add, but no sound came. She had said it, and it was not lie, but it took a nightmare for Dana to come to her senses...?
Was that supposed to be what the dream was telling her? No... Dana thought, nearly growling at herself for such a thought. Her faith was still on the edge, because even she couldn't believe that a dream like that could be a message for her to tell John. And as far as Dana was concerned, she would leave her faith behind, for him, he was so close to her, and now he knew how close he really was.
Fear and worry still in her turquoise eyes, but for a new reason. Dana feared that he wouldn't feel that way, she was afraid that if he didn't this could destroy their friendship. Fear of not being loved.

"NO! John... I love you!"
The sudden outburst from Dana of her feelings seemed to visibly startle John a bit. Hadn’t she understood what he had said before? His confusion was hinted in his expression as he looked at her. As he stared into her eyes, he saw the fear and worry displayed in them. What was she so scared of? Was it the same thing as he feared? He didn’t know.
Slowly, John made his way to Dana. To him, time seemed to slow in those few seconds as he came to stand next to her. Softly, he nuzzled her, to comfort her. Then, as he put his maw near her ear, he whispered, “I love you too.” He pulled away, shivering from the rain, a soft look in his eyes as they rested upon her.
Did she understand now? He didn’t know. So all John could do was stand there, waiting for her reaction and hoping that she finally realized how he felt about her.
[Ooc: Sorry, it’s short]
