The grey sky lay heavy with morning mist and the ground had become damp from the rain which had fallen the night before. The only sound emerging was the padding of his wet paws on the leafy track, interspersed from time to time by the rusty caw of the crows in the bare trees.
Yet down on the ground there showed itself a small glimmer of life in the sleepy morning. A little dog who called himself Danny trotted pluckily across the ground, heading for the village he could see not far away. Yet the little dog's gait belied his true feelings- as a small pet dog, he knew he was vulnerable and would never be able to stand up for himself in a fight with the wolves he heard roaming around these parts. Danny quickened his pace a little as the dreaded thought flitted through his mind. He knew he needed company; it was the one thing the little dog had craved all his life. Food, shelter- sure, he liked them, but above all of these needs Danny was a dog who took comfort in being near someone to feel their warmth and hide in their safety.
Approaching the village, Danny slowed a little to take in his surroundings. The cobbled streets and rustic houses warmed a part of his heart that had been feeling a chill for a long time. He lightly sniffed the ground, still watching the street with wary eyes, and picked up the smell of canines. Did they live here? Danny felt a surge of curiosity and despite a slight feeling of apprehension rising in his heart, he trotted on.

((OOC I won't be able to accept you, but I can greet you!))
Ahhhh! Good mornin', God. Thanks for givin' this ol' girl another morning...
*Paradigh woke up with a yawn, her golden eyes squinting in the bright light. Her smiles were always sincere, but today it was specail. So peaceful, so happy. 'Course the old mutt always was. With stiff movements, she got to her feet, upturned tail wagging away. Paradigh now stand on a pourch, where she had slept the night before. Paradigh wasn't a typical stray. She didn't belong to the local pack. Weasly and Echo were nice enough (she had even seen them grow from pups...from a distance), but the little scruff ball loved humans. None could replace her Natalie, God rest her soul, but it wasn't a matter of replacement. She knew she was a dog, and she knew a dog's highest calling in life was to make a human happy and fufilled. So, eversince, Paradigh walked from home to home, and touched every life she she could.*
*With a happy, thank you yap, the old girl walked down the stairs and out of the yard. Paradigh's coat matched the sky today. Various shades of grey and black. She stratigicaly avioded the puddles, the cold was bad on her joints. Today she would explore. She was old, not dead. Dispite the loving warnings of the stray, Chauncy, the old shorty still explored the dangerous areas of town.*
Now, what's that?
*Adnormaly large ears pricked forward, letting the earing swing. Black nose twitched as a new scent entered her. New dog. Male. Human. This was most definately previously a domestic dog. Paradigh's tail went mad as she trotted toward the scent. It led her out of the dank alley's to the main road. There he was! About ten yards away...and look at that! A small fella! Now she wasn't the only one! A friendly yap escaped her*
Hey there! Come on over here, sonny!

Danny's petite paws slowed to a halt as a sound reached his ears. He gazed down the hazy street, glossy eyes opened wide, and spotted a grey mutt a small distance away who was barking a welcome to him. The sight embraced his little heart with a warm hug that reassured him that all was not bad in the world and he could still find some cheer in the company of others.
The sheltie bowed his head low in subserviance as he crept up to the lady in front of him. On closer inspection, she seemed to be an old girl, but her appearance was the sort that radiated a warm affection that Danny craved. His tail fluttered with a tentative wag and the little dog lay down in front of his acquantance, an act of habit rather than fear. Danny had always found it hard to pluck up enough confidence to make the first move with stangers, always preferring to let them sniff him over before he allowed his curiosity to take charge.
But this lady seemed different to the other canines the little dog had encountered on his wanderings. Danny lifted his head gingerly towards that of hers, sensing a gentleness he had not experienced in a dog for a long time.
'Uh.. morning' he stammered, trying his hardest to appear friendly and not suspicious.

*The old lady continued to wag her tail at the approach of the newcomer. He was very fluffy, and bore a collar…great! Another companion dog! Hallow was becoming more and more a stray’s place. Paradigh didn’t have trouble with strays, but it got discouraging. Dog’s job was to make humans feel happy and warm. To be there for them. And in return, the dog would get love upon love, along with protection. The sheltie came up slowly, tentatively. But before Paradigh could tell him to hurry his butt over so she could say hi, he was lying there in front of her. Gigantic ears swiveled as her head cocked, causing her weighed down ear to swing over her eye. That was odd…but with a smack of realization, she wasn’t exactly the most normal dog either. So with slow, stiff movements, she lowered herself down, now laying in front of the new sheltie. Curled, wiry tail continued to wave as the smile grew bigger.*
Howdy, sonny! Welcome to Hallow! By da looks of it, yas got yourself a human too, eh? Well, can’t wait to meet dem too! I’m Paradigh, by the way…and…well…if ya don’t mind me askin’, whadda we doin’ here on the ground…
((OOC my GOD that’s short! Sorry, I have so much other stuff to do today. I promise the rest will be better!))

Danny found a nervous laugh passing his lips. The lady's words were kind and soft and gave him an increasing confidence that he wasn't about to get savaged. He didn't quite know what exactly he was doing on the floor and as his new companion spoke in her deep American tones, he realised that he probably did look a little silly. A rueful smile crept across his little sheltie face and his eyes crept upwards to meet those of Paradigh's. The lady had a kindly face, curiously large ears and interestingly, she wore a large gold pendant with an intricate design that Danny couldn't pick out terribly well in the half-light.
'Uh, well, I did have a human. But then he er, went.. but it's ok. I'm ok. Oh, and I'm Danny. He glanced down at the little silver tag attached to his red collar. ' I think that's what this says. Do you have a human? ' he asked with a sudden change of tone.
[OOC: sorry, this was all I could muster tonight!]

*Paradigh listened patiently as the young sheltie explained his presence. Lost, apparently. Either like hers, or just gone physically. She smiled as he indicated the collar, it was indeed good to see dogs as pets again. The pup perked up as he inquired of her owner. With an even bigger smile, her tail began sweeping the floor again*
Ah, ya, I have. Lots, in fact. Ya see, sonny, my Natalie, God rest her soul, left a few months ago. But now, whew! I have lots of people taken care of me. And I sure take care of them too!
*The old grey mutt lifted herself to her feet. Her bones couldn’t take this cold, wet cobblestone. She stayed seated, however, and took her single black leg and scratched her earing-weighed ear, sending it swinging like a pendulum. When it stopped, it comically flopped over her eye. Her tongue lolled in a smile and she got to her feet, and with a head jerk, beckoned the sheltie to get up.*
I’m Paradigh, by the way. Let’s go greet the town, shall we

|| Hope ya'll don't mind if I pop in. XD ||
A wisp of breath was seen in the cold morning air as a dog trotted along the cobbles of a street in the small village. His body showed the signs of a hardworking animal, that loved what he did. He smiled to himself as he walked, hearing the voice of Paradigh not so far away, and a voice he did not recognize. Wesley could hear the humans beginning to stir as night faded away. Which meant he would be needed for his normal duties soon. But he was sure they wouldn't need him for a little longer.
"Good Morning Paradigh!" he called, stopping when he could feel their heat close by. He scented the newcomer, his sightless eyes turned to the other dog. "And who might this be? Welcome to Hallow Village. I am Wesley, alpha of these lands you could say."

[Wes: course not! Get stuck in!]
Danny's tail gave a flicker of a wag as he listened to what Paradigh had to say. From the sounds of it, this settlement didn't seem too bad a place to make a home for himself- if the humans had looked after Paradigh in her hour of need, surely they could make allowances for a little Sheltie boy like himself. His grin widened at the comical sight of his new friend, now knowing that he had found himself an ally.
His ears swivelled sidewards as a new voice caught his attention. His mousey head following suit, he found standing before him a new dog. This one had large ears, a patchy brown coat and eyes as blue as an April sky. A little taken aback by this presentation of another new acqaintance, Danny decided he would let Paradigh do the talking.

*Paradigh's attention turned from her new friend, to the voice of an old one. With a flip of her enormous ears, the old scruffy mutt turned to face Weasly. She had gotten to know the alpha of the street dogs a little. He was very kind, and though he was even younger than Paradigh, his sight had left him. Never once had the old girl seen it slow him down, however. He was just a lively as he should be for his age and title. With a bow, more to show Danny what do to other than "show' respect to her old friend, Paradigh pranced forward.*
Good mornin' Weasly! Was just takin' a walk this wet mornin' when I ran into this fella. This here's Danny, and he's new, as ya know, and a little nervous. Thought I would take him around when you showed up. And I's supposin' that's your job and all.
*She flopped her head back around and winked at the Sheltie. If anything, she had to try and make him feel comortable in this new situation.*

Wesley smiled in the direction of the new dog. He seemed timid, for he had waited for Paradigh to speak. But Wes knew not all good hearts held a lot of courage. He turned back to his friend. "Well yes I suppose it is." he said chuckling. "Would you like to join us, Paradigh? That is if you aren't busy with something." Without waiting for the answer he motioned with a wag of his tail for Danny to follow as he padded back onto the street, turning to make sure he was following, and to see if Paradigh would be coming.

Danny's little head flicked back and forth as he observed the conversation between the two canines, both of them somewhat bigger than his small self. Watching Paradigh take a bow for the male, Danny decided he should do the same. The movement evoked not-too-far-gone memories of his previous life with his master, having been taught to bow as a party trick when he was a youngster. Even though he had never been part of a pack before, Danny knew that such body language signalled that this guy held some importance.
Danny grinned as he caught Paradigh's wink and lightly padded over to the male, currently speaking in light, lively tones. He took Wesley's gesture as an invitation to follow, and, not wanting to offend any of his new friends, he trotted up to reach him.
'Hi, er, Wesley. Me name's Danny.. uh, you already know that. But I was hoping if, maybe, if you would be so kind, if, I could find some shelter here?' Danny hated asking things of new acqaintances, but this was a question that had to be asked. 'I've not been around here long, and I'm sort of, well, seeking a bit of safety.'
He looked up at Wesley's muzzle and smiled a nervous smile. He hoped the dog would receive his request well.

Wesley smiled down at the little dog, a certain shining in his sightless eyes. "Why of course." he said. "There are plenty of humans here that I am sure of need a good canine companion. You'll have to work for them, though. Humans tend to put all their pets to work, but I'm sure you'll be fine. Anyway, let's start with that tour!" With a low but friendly bark he padded off in one direction, bordering the woods, his pace an easy trot and when he did not move out of the way of something, it tended to move from his path for him. Such as a few people as he walked by. He glanced behind him, ears perked forward to catch the sound of Danny's pawsteps if he was following.

Danny biddably followed the dog, ever-ready to obey authority. His attitude was not a rebellious one, and the offer of leadership from Wesley was one he was only too happy to take up.
'So I could be someones pet again?'' Danny inquired, his pawsteps shuffling from time to time in order to keep up with Wesley's trotting gait. 'Wow- I never imagined.. that I would, erm, that I could.. live with a human again. ' To Danny, the prospect seemed daunting, but he had only fond memories of living with his old master, and in his mind he assured himself that no human would ever think of hurting a little dog like himself.
But Danny was a slightly naive little creature, and as he cautiously put his paws up on the table of a small market stall to investigate the dried hams hanging from it, he was surprised and unnerved to find a sharp stone being flung his way by the old man standing behind it.
He skittered sideways and found himself in very close quarters with Wesley as he cowered from his attacker.

"Why, surely. There are plenty of people in the village, I'm sure with a bit of luck you'll find the right one." Wesley, said his thoughts wandering for a moment as he wondered about Echo. He hadn't talked to her in awhile. Wesley listened to the small dog's words a moment, catching the bit of emotion and of course, the 'again.' "I'm guessing, you've been a pet before, and had a bad expirience?" he said almost softly.
He smiled comfortingly at Danny as he felt the dog come closer, and cower close to his feet. He turned his sightless gaze upward and looked at the merchant. For some reason it seemed to amaze people, and creep them out when he looked them in the eye, which he sometime found rather amusing. "Don't worry, Danny. No one will hurt you as long as I'm around."
