Tell me a story spoken....
The threads of time were collapsing, folding in on each other, sparking in their last hopes of survival, trying to fight..and fight to run..and fight to stay alive. But their charges were hope- less, and their fate would soon be sealed, and soon, they would face the very meaning of death. The very meaning that made up life. Time was over. This was it. This was the end.
Tension hung in the air, and hovered like a cloud of ominous darkness. Filling it's combatants with dread, all save those few, emotion- less demons, it was soon to be a mark upon the rest of the natural world. The sky seemed to darken, and spread out, making way for what was sure to come. Death.
The female reeled back, and with time's sudden death, it seemed to slow, and yet, he saw it all. The launch into the air, aiming to disable for all eternity. The whole of the years he had existed in this world, and yet another being was trying to end it. His days were not of peace, of joy, but of sorrow and misery. And he lived in the shadows.
He lept out of the way, turning his own body back around to face his opponent in her mid- flight. He himself gave a leap, but he was too cunning to commit the same dead twice. He lea under the female, his black mitts only touching the ground for one last time till' he lept upward, under her, attempting to rip her wide open from underneath. Take out her guts and let her bleed to death.
He was prepared. Whatever would come at him, would come. Teeth struck flesh, the blood ran, and cries from both echoed through the barren lands.
Agony and sorrow.

((Sorry for the delay. And for the super-long post.))
Nightshade watched calmly at first, as the brown she-wolf disappeared from sight. It was a beginner's trick - one that she knew tooth to tail. But as the lightning pounded heavy again, she saw a silhouette blacken the illuminated earth. Spinning to face it, her gaze shifted naturally up to where whatever cast that shadow must have been. But all that met her gaze was the branches of a tree.
Confusion was short lived, for the heavens were set to fight their own battle that night. As white light struck so close she could almost smell it, a spark took up the still partially dry bark, and within moments had engulfed the closest tree. Liquid flame crackled and spat in all directions, and a heavy moan alerted Nightshade for what would have surely crushed her had she not moved. Pulling down half the world with it, the great tree toppled, shattering the darkness like a great beacon in the storm.
Leaping swiftly aside, the alpha narrowly avoided certain death as the tree slammed hard into the ground not far from where she had been standing. Twigs and branches broke free and showered the sky with droplets of flame, several singeing the she-wolf's fur as she dropped her body low to cover her fragile neck and stomach. Shaking herself free, she stood perfectly still.
Listening intently, she blocked out the sound of the fire to her side and the rain around her. The one would cancel out the other very soon. The lightest touch of heavy breathing behind her told her everything she needed to know, and slowly her hackles rose. Dipping every so slightly, she readied herself. At such an angle, RayJ's hit could prove fatal...if she connected, of course. But as the seconds ticked by, Nightshade was ready. She could feel the soft earth beneath her claws just as much as she could feel RayJ's eyes on her...the lust for blood searing through both their veins.
Finally, the brown wolf sprang. At the last possible moment, the alpha buckled her legs, and hauled herself to the left, rolling across the soaked grass, barely feeling the final licks of fire that bit at her already sore skin and deeper into her wounds. Resting there for just a moment, Nightshade let her breathing return to a more normal rhythm. That dodge had cost her a lot of her strength, but with a bit of luck, it would have done the same for her attacker. Still, the she-wolf had not come away entirely undamaged. As RayJ had slammed into the ground, her left paw had been driven fiercely into Nightshade's side, just as she had been about to roll. The claws had not only torn flesh, but the sheer force of the blow had knocked the wind from the alpha.
Still shaking from the exertion, she pulled icy air into her battered lungs. It stung to be sure, but it had not tasted so good in a long time. Pulling herself to her paws, she cast around for her attacker once more. What in hell did this pair want anyway? If they sought to take over Sallin with a two-wolf force, they were very much mistaken. Even if they did manage to kill her, they'd have to go through the rest of the pack. From Kaine all the way to the subordinates, there were few wolves that would buckle to false rulers. For it was through the power of Sallin that Nightshade truly reined. And these two pups would find themselves dead within the hour of her demise, if it every came down to it.
Feeling it seep into her lungs, the alpha swallowed sharply before spitting the foul-tasting liquid to the soil. Blood. Blood in the lungs. But even this was not new to her: she had had it too many times to count. Still, it was serious - she would have to end this fight quickly, and make sure not to let the volume build. Chocking on her own blood was not the way she planned to die. But, like everything else she had suffered, it would heal. Such could not be said for the curs who wished to end her life this night.

RayJ's jaws came open and went flying for Nightshade, but to her disappointment, he hadn't managed to hit her back like she had hoped. Instead, only her paw slammed into Nightshade's side.
Her paws had just barely touched the soil when she had landed, leaving soft prints in the earth, staining it crimson. Rain poured over her head, trickling through her fur and running in between her blood-stained teeth. She piveted swiftly to turn to face her opponent, and smirked with delight as she saw that her blow had done a bit of damage.
Her eyes narrowed as she saw Nightshade spit the blood out from her lungs and bleed through the soft ground. A sight she had witnessed before, but she hadn't wished to see it again. It made her feel powerful though, to see others suffer as such, and to know that she caused the damage. She grinned. Her intentions were not exactly to take over the pack, but to kill all she saw. That was just her way; she was a cold-blooded murderer. She had dreamed of power, though, as the leader of a strong pack, and taking down others in her way only made her stronger.
She glared down Nightshade, with crimson eyes that only her mother would love. She kept her eyes glued to the prey, not even blinking as rain smeared over her face and dribbled down her body, leaving her fur in clots. More lightning crashed through the air, while loud boomed echoed in the night sky. Her lips curled back, letting rainwater run between her eyelids and crash to the ground.
She flinched. Only now had the pain from the attack hit her, and previous wounds bundled together to form more hurt in her body. She stumbled, just slightly to the side, but quickly recovered her footing. Now, she was ready for anything that Nightshade could throw at her.

Running her tongue across her teeth, Nightshade cleared the remaining blood from within. Feeling the strength of her own jaw, and the sharp, deadly knife-edge of her fangs, she felt the life within her surge. Eyes waited just beyond the shadow of her mind. The eyes that would never let her sleep if she only let them in. She could pick out Winchester's even if she had been blind both in body and in soul. Others there, some she could not even name. But they were all there, waiting for her to fall. And she would drive them back as she had done a thousand times. These curs would not claim her, and neither would her madness. Not before she was done.
Digging her claws slowly into the soft, unforgiving earth, the alpha raised her head slowly. Her own eyes shone now. Forest green but so cruel and cold you could be mistaken for seeing red. Oh, she was ready. Every fibre of her being was tensed, and oh so ready. More blood would be spilt before the rain could have the chance to wash it clear. That was a certainty.
And there was something else besides. More deadly than Nightshade's teeth or claws. More deadly even than her mind. Another certainty that pounded heavy and hard just beneath the surface. The absolute surety, unquestionable, that she would not die tonight. And that...that was something to be feared. Because now, far more beyond physical power alone, Nightshade had will power. And the power of the knowledge that tonight, though she could be wounded still, she was invincible.
The she-wolf struck. She had been slowly stepping closer to RayJ, hardly seeing her or knowing of her presence. And then as a snap it had returned to her, and now she drove forward with all her weight and all her muscle, aiming to pound square into her opponent, and crash them both down hard as she had before. But this time, there was no long fall to break them apart. This would lock them together, and they would be forced to fight tooth and claw until one or both of them fell down bloodied and defeated.
The sky seemed to aid her as she flew, the rain only seeming to drum heavier into her wounds and her tender skin. Lightning struck close again, illuminating her face for just an instant. Catching the white in her fangs and the glow in her eyes, Nightshade emerged from the darkness of hell itself. Primeval fury and rage terrorising even the night. For a second she was back on a night much like this. Her jaw tearing through the flesh of those who stood to stop her from gaining everything she had ever desired.
She was not about to lose it now.
