A grey-blue mutt sat on the beach, watching as the tide slowly climbed higher. From his position on the beach, the trees shaded him from the hot sun. His blue eyes surveyed the foaming water as it cascaded over the soft, warm sand. A slight breeze ruffled his fur and he smiled to himself. He loved the beach.
He plopped his head down upon his two front paws and sighed happily. His nostrils were filled with the scent of saltwater. For some reason, this familiar smell reminded him of a long-forgotten memory with his sister, Shiah.
Slowly, he closed his eyes and rolled over onto his back. Twisting his body back and forth, he rolled in the sand, pink tongue flopping out of his mouth.

"Having fun are we?" asked a dark, goldish dog, looking over at Pippin. Her tail waved back in forth as she watched him roll around in the sand, it was actually kind of amusing. She chuckled and smiling friendly. She sat under the shade of a high palm tree. It was warm out by the beach, she liked that way. She licked her white paw once, then sat in the sand. She still watched Pippin with an eye.
Her fur ruffled in nice cool breeze that flowed past her. She loved looking at the crashing waves. The best part about the beach, was the low-tide. When she was a pup and lived out with her master, she'd swim to the closest sand bar and chase crabs. She looked up at the bright blue sky, the smell of saltwater, clung to her nostrils as she stayed here.
Her ears were perked and she was alert. She kept a smile on through the whole day. She was hopping to find a friend in this dog, Pippin.

He lazily sat up and grinned. "As it so happens, yes, I am having fun." His eyes locked with hers. "My name's Pippin. And you are...?" He looked at her and hoped that he could become friends with her. She seemed really nice.

"My name is, Page." she said and sat down. She smiled at Pippin, her ears twitched and she looked up. Her fur blew threw the salty air. Her fur was beginning to seem dry on her flesh from the air. She watched Pippin as he sat up. She smiled her dark red eyes glowing bright under the sun. Her tail curled around her front paws.
She liked this dog already, he seemed like a kind soul. She smiled at him.

"Wow. Page...that's a pretty name." He smiled, eyes sparkling. They moved from her to the ocean, taking on a dreamy look.
"Don't you just love the ocean? Something about it...the sheer power of it. It's uncatchable. Kinda like me." He cast her a mischevious smirk, winked and then darted off towards the rolling surf.

Page laughed. "I love the sea!" she howled and ran after him. The sand itched between her toes, but she could care less. Now, she knew she could find a friend with this dog. She barked happily, as if she was a love-struck puppy again.
She ran beside Pippin and laughed and ran past him and leaped into the surf. As she landed a wave crashed onto her body. She smiled widely and shook her pelt, spraying Pip, as he neared. She wagged her tail, spraying more water droplets. She licked her salty lips and bowed down in front of him, wagging her tail in the air.

Pippin smiled at her. As she bowed down in front of him, he did the same. Growling playfully, he then darted off down the opposite way. His half-length tail couldn't wag any faster than it already was.
He glanced back at her and yelled "Surf-tag!!" before running a little ways again.

Page laughed and ran after him. She ran as far as her legs could carry her. She was glad she was a good runner. The tuffs of fur on her elbows blew like flags down her legs. She barked happily as she chased Pippin down the beach. Some the people down on the beach looked at the barking dogs. Page leape din the air and tackled Pippin.
They rolled in the sand as she had tackled him. She laughed and flopped on her back as she landed on the sand. She laughed, but it died away. "Ahem." she said with a bright smile. She wagged her tail, flicking waves of sand over Pippin's paws. She smiled, watching him.

As he was tackled, he laughed out loud before hitting the ground. They rolled, spraying sand every-which way. He finally rolled to a stop overtop Page. He grinned down at her.
Suddenly noticing the way their position might have looked to the other animals on the beach, he quickly withdrew. His eyes locked with hers and he couldn't help but smile again.

Page blushed and looked down at her paws. Her tail curled around her paws and she looked back up at Pippin. "That was...fun." she said hesitantly and picked up her paw and rubbed the back of her head, grinning slightly. She glanced back up at Pippin, seeing him smile. She lowered her ears in embarrassment. He was a good friend. Despite her just meeting him.
She looked around the beach, wondering if anyone was around. It was them. They had moved down the beach. She looked down as the sand snuck into her paws and rubbed against the skin as she shuffled her paws trying to get the sand out. Only more came in and she blew on the ground so the sand scattered from her paws.

"Well, now what do you wanna do? Wanna try and catch some crabs over by the rocks?" Pippin suggested. It was something that he remembered doing with Shiah and his parents when they were just tiny pups. Plus, just the smell of crabs made his mouth water.
He watched as Page tried to get the sand out of her paws. "Problems" He grinned. "Stand in the water for a bit. It helps get the sand out. We could walk on the wet sand, then so that's not a hassle."

"Water will only get more sand stuck, but I'm okay. And yes, catching crabs does sound fun." she said with a smile and stood up. She remembered how she used to see humans catch crabs, they looked good at the sight of them, but she never had courage to get snag one. She would see the humans toss boxes or nets into the water and the next thing they'd bring back a hole 6 mouthful of crabs.
Her eyes glowed. And she smiled mischievously. "I'll race you!" she barked and bolted off toward the rocks. She went slow to allow him to know what had just happened, but once he did she'll go full out. She looked back at him and barked.

"Head start for the ladies...how typical!!" He laughed and darted after her. He let her win the race to the rocks. Upon reaching them, he climbed up on top of a rock half-submerged in the water and sat down. His eyes darted around in the shallows to try and locate a crab.

Page tapped the hal-submerged rock before she sat on it, to make sure it was covered in allege, which would make it hard to sit on, which would cause her to slip. She scanned the rocks. "Hmm, we may have to wait till low tide. It should be here soon." she said as she walked slowly on the rocks looking for crabs, looking for small moving "barnacles" that's where they usually hide.
