The evening was clear, not a cloud blocked out the beautiful night sky. Across the dark sheet of space was the scatter of twinkling stars, and in the middle of the cluster, was the moon. The glow of the moon illuminated the white specs of sand that was Scatterstone Beach. Waves lapped against the beach, slowly, calmly. The sea was undisturbed, gentle waves rolled to the land, were one beast walked. There were prints in the white sand of Scatterstone. Large prints, made by none other than a wolf itself. Pacing along the beach did a striped wolf run, her brown hues gleaming in the moonlight. She was content as she ran, it was her thing. She had always ran, and here she was now. Running . The feeling of the wind ruffling through her shaggy coat felt good to Smartie, as her powerful limbs tore her across the land.
The female stopped suddenly. Whisps of sand coiled around her, as she skidded across the moist sand. She grappled the grains, and let them run between her toes. A smirk had spread across her ebony lips, as she looked into the sky. The moon, it was bright. Bucking back her head, the female bayed her voice into the air streams. A wind was blowing across the land, her voice, rising with it. Closing her lids did the female, as she became caught within the pleasure of howling. Her howl echoed through the land, between the trees; across the vast stretch of sea. And she stopped howling. She peered at her fore paws, were a small crustacean scuttled. Smiling, she flicked her paw up, turning it onto its back. As it struggled to regain its feet, Smartie walked off.
The red crab rolled to its many feet. Snapping its pincers in fury it did, rage bubbling within its hard shell. The shadow of the wolf cast of the crab, and it quickly scuttled to the side. Not seeing a dip in the sand, it fell into, what seemed to it, a large ditch. However, the crustacean had actually fallen into one of the paw tracks that Smartie had left on her travel across the sand. The night was calm, and only the sound of the waves did the female listen too. The beach was long and wide, its trail seeming to be never ending. Smartie did not mind. She was enjoying her stroll along the beach; and behind her, she left her paw prints in the sand.

Phaxx was wandering across the beach, along the shoreline, where her paws could sink softly into the damp sand. She gazed upwards, to the indigo-painted sky, to the stars, to the moon. Scatterstone Beach was probably Phaxx's favourite place to wander during the night-time. So peaceful, so still... yet, not still, in a way. It was hard to describe. It was calm, yet the wind wrapped everything in a strange silence, in a bubble.
The black and white femme felt complete here, when the stars and the moon graced the dark sky and the gentle swish of the tide echoed along the shore.
A sudden howl and dark marks in the sand caused her to avert her gaze from the celestial wonders to the ground, and she spotted pawprints, scattered among the sands. Following the tracks, she spotted a small crab lying on its back in one of the pawprints. She smiled and lowered her muzzle towards it, flipping it onto its feet again, then continued following the tracks.

It was nice lying there in the sand. Just lying there. Under the pale moon and on the soft, now warm sand. Dunkel had been lying there for a while and has just begun to dose off before he heard a loud howl, harmonic to his ears. Instinctively, he would've howled back, but the black-white-and-blue male stopped himself. He did not want to give himself away. After all, he was only half wolf. He kept to himself, his tail curled around his haunches as he layed there. Every so often, his ears would swivell from here to there and twitch. Twitch, twitch, twitch.
His red eyes were like laser scans, taking in the scenery. He enjoyed watching the water, how it crashed ashore and slowly drifted back into the ocean, leaving only white foam before that too, dispersed. He let a soft sigh rolled out from his vocals as he lowered his head upon his forepaws, his whole body stretched out in a comfortable position. Dunkel's ears now hung sideways and he tried his hest to stay awake. But the soothing sound of water against sand and the smell of bliss was too sweet to pass up and eventually he dosed off once more.
Unfortunately, moments after his little nap, he ripped his eyes wide open and shivered. It wasn't cold or anything... he just had another one of those dreams. He curled up tighter together, a feeling of loneliness tugging at his belly. He couldn't stand it. Dunkel slowly sat up, his forelegs seemed to not want to work with him and so he got up quite wobbly. The male stood up and stretched his legs a bit before he began to walk. The walk was somewhat leasurable. He lifted his muzzle up high and opened his jaws slightly, tasting the air. It was nice and cool, squeezing through his fur as he walked.
As Dunkel took another step, he felt his big paws touch deeper sand. The half wolf lifted his forepaw up and discovered paw prints on the smooth sand. He let a small grunt escape his lips and began to follow the paw prints. As he walked he looked blankly ahead though blinked several times as he saw a black and white figure. Deciding it was best to just stay quiet, Dunkel slackened his pace a little and continued following the paw prints, tail hanging limp behind his rump.

Phaxx snapped her head up as she heard a pawstep behind her. She froze, then slowly turned, forgetting her quest for the owner of the original pawprints. The black and white femme cursed herself for being careless, for she realised that in the wet sand, anything could follow her. She hoped that this would not ruin her night, and turned, spotting a white, black and blue wolf following her own pawprints. Hoping the other wolf was not aggressive, she waited for him, or her, to catch up. How strange, she thought, for two others to be here on the same night, and usually there are none!

Smartie knew that there was a beats following her tracks. She did not mind. Smartie glanced back over her shoulder as she walked, watching the wolf stop, it to, looked back. Smartie was such a distance ahead, that the other had not noticed. Her shadow did however, stretch across the white sands that glowed in the moons light. Smartie smirked, and stopped. She rotated her body, so that she was facing the way she came. Her long bushy tail swayed back and forth faster, as she saw the sight of another wolf, and the sight of a half wolf. Half wolves did not disgust her, they were just... mongrels of their race. Smartie licked her ebony lips with her long crimson tongue, and she bucked back her head once again.
Her voice whistled into the calm air of the night, she was calling to those wolves. Her eyes closed like before, losing herself in the passion of the moment that was her; howling in the night, baying at her moon. The striped female then stopped, lowering her maw to her chest, which she puffed out. Her long slender legs started to move forward, and she walked back the way she came. She did not walk on her paw prints, she walked alongside them. Each paw that she placed upon the snow white sands of Scatterstone was gentle, soft. She never trod heavily on her mitts. They were to delicate. As the female moved quickly back towards the other wolves, she grasped the sand for balance, the sand running between her digits.
How she loved that feeling, and she loved also, the feeling she felt when with other wolves. How happy she was when around others of the wolfen race. The mongrel wolf was still half wolf, still a member of the canine family, and so, Smartie did not reject her. The female stopped, perching her rump on the sand, on the exact location where she had knocked over the crab that had crawled on her path. Sitting down, she looked at the other wolf who had turned to watch what was behind her. Smartie had moved to silently, she was sitting before the wolf, glaring at her. With a sudden outburst of words, she spoke to the female, no doubt startling her with her presence:
" Hello wolf. I see you were following my path. How might I help you?"

Phaxx jumped, a whimper escaping from her maw. She spun around, her ears laid flat against her neck. I... I was just... walking along the beach, and saw you... she stopped, knowing she sounded stupid and pup-like. The night seemed to close around her, the soft crash of the tide was dimmed, the moon and the stars disappeared from her vision. She was extremely intimidated and didn't know what else to say. "I - I'm sorry..." she stuttered, her body lowered and her tail between her hind legs, wondering what would happen to her now...

By now, the male had caught up with the black and white female and was standing a little way away from her.
Dunkel was silent all the while as he stood inches away from the wolves. His fur was bristling, it was clear he was uncomfortable. Although half wolf, it felt weird, being with other wolves. He gave a soft sigh, which was barely audible and took a few steps away, unconcerned, to be honest. His tail gave a few flicks to the side before he just sat down, his rump sinking softly into the cool sand. Dunkel's ears twitched softly and a soft shiver ran down his spine as he sat there, quiet. His red eyes watched the two wolves, the black and white one to the brown one. They were intriguing, interesting too. The male tilted his head to the side.
Wolves... were interesting but dangerous to deal with as well. Well, he himself didn't know that since he was only a half wolf as his pack called 'em. It was always ''Ey! Half Wolf! C'mere and watch over dem pups while we go huntin'!' Dunkel gave a soft grunt as he remembered Solomonso, the brown wolf that aggravated his nerves. Then Kumo and Violandra came rushing through his mind he felt cold. With another soft inaudible sigh, he continued to watch the two wolves, not saying a single word all the while.

" You saw me... so you decided that you wanted to follow me?" Smartie smirked, and she sat down on the sand. Her small paw prints were yet so much larger than the wolf dogs, who Smartie had observed as he came into the circle of conversation, if one could call it that. Smartie was seemingly the one doing most of the talking anyway. The sparkling brown hues of the female glimmered in the moonlight. She could sense the agitation in the wolf dog before he even so bristled his fur. Smartie looked back at the one who saw her so decided to follow her. " Hmm... Now what if I was a mean wolf, who attacked wolves and wolf dogs like yourselves? You could have ended up in alot of danger...you know... following the prints of strangers?" With that, Smartie leaned forward her nose in a sign of friendship towards her fellow wolf.
Her leathery black nose was moist from the cool night air, which was not as bitter and nose biting as it was the previous night. The female smiled warmly at the two, and she waited for her sign of friendship to be responded to by the other wolf. Thoughts rallied through Smartie's mind, although she did feel content now and before these two had decided to make their presence known. Smartie's ears twitched, as the black and white wolf dog with the red eyes looked at her. She stared back, admiring his red hue, which interested Smartie. The reason for having the red hue, was what interested Smartie, not the wolf dog himself.
" I see that I have yet another tag-along? Well... the more the merrier eh you two?" Smartie felt good tonight. She did not feel irritated at all by the two followers. Normally, if she as being stalker, she'd have ran so fast that they'd lose her tracks. Or, she would have confronted them, perhaps gave them a stern telling off or some other similar action. Running was what she would have most certainly done though. But she did not want to run, and she was not annoyed by their presence, and so, she welcomely smiled at them both.

Phaxx's ears came up off her neck a little as she saw the brown wolf loosen a little. "...No... I did not see you, only your tracks," she said slowly. "I wasn't really following them or you, but just following the same path I usually take along the beach later at night..."
She turned her ebony head to the one who she had seen behind her. She took a while to realise that he was a wolf-dog, but she smiled at him, not having any reservations for wolf-dogs. He seemed interested, although cautious, and she understood the suffering he might have gone through in the past. Phaxx nodded slightly in his direction, to show her comprehension, then turned back to the brown wolf. "My name... my name is Phaxx," she said, wondering whether she could trust this new stranger. "It's a pleasure to meet you on this fresh night." But then she regretted her words, for she knew she sounded false.

" Ok then... fair enough. I'll be seeing you around then perhaps?" Smartie smiled at the wolf, and made a nodding gesture of 'hello and goodbye' to the wolf dog, and she turned tail, and slowly she walked, in the direction she had been going since she got here. The night was certainly starting to become chilly, and the bitter cold was nipping at the dry leathery nose of Smartie. Snorting, flaring her nostrils, and she shook her head, her eyes squinting in at her nose. Her ears twitched, and her tail flickered around behind her, showing that she was irritated by the cold that was biting at her. Her body was unaffected however as she had a warm shaggy coat which insulated her heat well, and she relished in this heat, as she strolled along the beach.
Her paw prints remained undisturbed as she walked alongside of them, so that if this other wolf wished to follow her more, it could tell that this was the trail of Smartie, and not some rogue wolf. The lapping of the waves against the soft wind sand echoed through her ears, and it soothed her to listen to it. Shutting her eyes, hiding her brown hues, she walked, without using her sense of sight, but her sense of hearing and touch to determine where she was going.Phaxx. Smartie snorted, she had left only with a goodbye to Phaxx, and she had sounded false to Smartie. She knew that she might be a genuine wolf, but Smartie decided that she wanted to continue on her stroll across Scatterstone.
Listening to the stuttering of wolves who become nervous around others would only spoil this night for Smartie. Although she had not growled, glared, sneered or snarled at the wolf and the wolf dog, Smartie could only feel that, perhaps she had saddened them, by leaving so abruptly after confronting them. Glancing over her shoulders, her ears fell to her head, folding neatly across her scruff, she looked at the two. Smartie continued to walk forward, but still looking behind her, to see if they where going to run and catch up to her. She would welcome them, if they did so.

((Aww... okay...))
Phaxx laid her ears against her neck and gazed after Smartie, torn between her two choices. She was intimidated by Smartie because of her sudden appearance beside her, yet she still liked her. Still, she didn't want to seem like a loner or a suck-up if she chased after Smartie again. Her peridot eyes flickered as she debated with herself, but finally, she just sat, her tail sinking into the damp sand and her breath starting to plume before her in the chilly night air. She listened to the flow of the tide, and at the retreating pawsteps of Smartie, and pondered her existance of courage.

[ Aw alright Dunky. Feel free to rejoin us when you come back! ]
Smartie stopped, realising that the other was not going to follow. Smartie was saddened by this, as she had hoped she would follow again. The female looked about her, and she then rested her gaze upon the ocean. The striped female then padded to wards the water, were the sand was moist, and as she grappled it, clumps of sand clung to her pads. The moisture change and the texture of the sand made Smartie feel calm, and she waded into the water, so that the waves lapped against her legs. She was not in far enough for the water to sweep her underside. The scent of the sea air made Smartie feel queasy, so she turned and walked back to the sand. Water dripped from her legs, the droplets rolling down and being soaked by the sand.
Smartie smiled. She was content, and she rested her rump on the soft sand. Her nose twitched and she began to sniff at the air. The salt smell in the air was strong. Smartie disliked this scent, and she buried her nose into her chest, licking her fur as she done so. After cleaning her chest fur, Smartie raised her maw and closed her eyes. She began howling a song, her voice flowing gently through the air, like the waves flowing gently to the sand. Here ears folded neatly on her scruff as her head bucked slowly back wards.
Keeping her head this way, she continued to sing, her voice was a tone of soothing, but yet so welcoming, that others might feel compelled to join her in song. Smartie was directing her song to the wolf she had met, offering a sing of friendship, and offering the other to join with her, her stroll along the beach. The night seemed never ending; the stars twinkled in the space; the moon shone ever more brightly. The she wolf smiled as she was enjoying her evening howl.

Phaxx's ears flicked as she silently watched Smartie stop and wade into and back from the water, then sit. A shiver trickled down her spine as her dark ears caught the song, travelling all the way to her tail tip which twitched involuntarily. The night was so calm... she never thought that she would see a time which held so much tranquility. Everything about it was perfect: the breeze, the swish of the tide, her breath condensing before her... but she felt uneasy. There was something about this night that seemed wrong...

Smartie's ear were pricked up, listening out for the joining in of the other wolf in her midnight song. When it did not come, one of her eyes opened, and she looked at the wolf. An expression of anxiety was plain on the other wolves face. The howl then slowly came to gentle end, and Smartie turned her head to look at the other. One of her ears twitched to the side, and then so did Smartie's head. Perhaps this night was not destined to be the most peaceful one after all? Smartie grumbled to herself. I bet this tag along wolf has brought some unwanted company for me to deal with... Snorting, the female stood up and stretched forth her fore paws. Her toes grabbed the sound but let go immediately so that this time, the sand did not flow between them, and she stood tall. Her tail became erect, and she swaggered over the other wolf, and stopped a respectable distance from her.
Smartie observed how the other looked uneasy and kept looking around her. Well there is not much around her... the sea is almost three quarters of the diameter around her... and then there is that forest, but that is a way over there... Smartie turned and looked at the forest. An eary breeze blew between the trees, and it whistled as it went. The sea lapped against the sand; the tide was coming in and so the wolves should get off of the beach and onto the grass by the forest.
" What is up with you little wolf? Scared of the dark?" A smirk was across her lips, and her teeth were clenched although not hard. Her nose twitched. Her tail flickered around behind her as she sat down. Her voice was not harsh, but it was put in a taunting tone; to tease the other." Scared you'll be attacked point blanc?" Smartie moved so that she now sat at the side of the other wolf, and she peered into the shadows of the forest; the darkness separated by silhouettes made by the moonlight shining upon the land.
