Smartie's eyes flickered as she the faint sound of Phaxx falling near her echoed in her mind. Her eyes did not open. She remained lying there, near enough unconscious. "Smartie... thank you..." was all that she heard. the silver and grey female was drifting in and out of consciousness and dreaming.
The pain was numb now, and everything darkened in her eyes. Then a light shone, and she was dreaming. The faces of wolves that she had met before came to mind, and she tried to reach out to them, but could not. A soft whimper escaped her parted lips. There was a cut was across her muzzle, and the blood had crusted over on her skin. It would be painful to lick at.
The tired female could feel that Phaxx was near to her and safe now that the wolf was dead. Knowing this, Smartie was able to put her mind at rest, and she allowed herself to be consumed by the light in her dreams.
If one was to look down on the beach, they would see pools of blood, and immediately think that all three wolves had died. One was dead, and he was the only male. The other two were still alive; although exhausted. Further along the beach, the paw prints in the sand left by Smartie remained undisturbed.
If one continued to watch, they would see that the prints were washed away now, by the water. The crab that had been earlier flipped about by the wolves was carried away by this tide as it continued its slow scurry along the fine grains of sand.
And they slept. And then morning came, and then sun rose on the horizon of the water. Scatterstone beach would be light it by the light of the red planet, that was far bigger than the one on which these wolves inhibited. Smartie would stir, but she did not waken.
[ No point in repeating that they are sleeping, so I hope that you do not mind that i skipped the - nothing really to say now part- ]
[ OMG, we are onto the third page! Wewt for a continous RP! Lets us see how far we can take it! I must say, I am enjoying Role Playing with you. (: ]

Light pierced through Phaxx's tired, blood-caked eyelids, and she grunted softly, not wanting to wake. But she felt uncomfortable and restricted all over... She stumbled to her feet and forced her eyelids open, and as she saw the blood dried around her and the memories came flooding back, she sat down with a thump, her mind reeling. Smartie! she cried in her mind, and swung her head around. With a huge sigh of relief, she saw Smartie, still sleeping in the sand. Phaxx smiled softly at her friend, then turned her head to gaze at the huge black male, lying still and lifeless. Her smile disappeared from her face, for though she had expected the male to look less menacing during the day, he looked the same: hulking, and with jaws capable of crushing her skull. She shuddered, the mere sight of him ruining the morning.
Phaxx forced herself to her feet. The pain at the back of her head was dull now, but blood was dried all over her and she felt like she was encased in ice. She staggered to the water, hoping to wash it off. She could not swim, but a little wash couldn't hurt...
Several long minutes later, she splashed out from the water onto the sand, feeling clean and somewhat refreshed. The chill water had numbed the back of her head and her torn ear a little, but her muscles still ached. Hoping that the tide would eventually clean the blood-soaked sand, she sat at the water's edge, gazing from Smartie to the black wolf. She wondered what his name had been, where he had come from, and why he was here, coincedentally on the same night that she and Smartie had been here. I think I'll discuss that with her later, she thought to herself. She could not remember the frenzy of anger with her pillar of fire the previous night, only memories of her tearing at throats and faces was all she had.
((Yay! Ahh I gotta go, it's late!! -yawns- That's why this post is kinda... bad... I'm tired and my roleplaying skills disappear when it's late... G'night Smartie!))

Smartie began to stir now, and the pain came rushing back to her in numbness and stiffness in her muscles. She had not received too much intense damage, only a gash to the shoulder and a bite to the hind leg was all that would be of much concern her. Eyelids did flicker open and blurry eyes she looked around. Her head shifted about on the sand as she tried to lift it.
She was still tired, and most energy had been taken from her, all used up in the battle. The blood that encrusted on her wounds was rough, and it split as she attempted to shift herself to her side. Her eyes soon came into focus, but she had a splitting headache. She could not remember been struck on the head. Perhaps when she fell she banged it on something.
Indeed she had. Beneath her was a smooth rock and she snorted at it. As Phaxx washed herself in the water, Smartie fell back to the ground just as she turned. Her eyes shut momentarily, so her friend would not have seen her waken. Slender legs were raised and her paws dangled in the air as she lay. Her chest rose and fell very slowly as she took slow breaths. Rolling to her side did the silver striped female, and she looked around the area.
Scatterstone beach was a whole lot nicer at night, despite the darkness and unwanted wolves. Her eyes shifted to the sky, were fluffy white clouds were floating gently along with the upper air streams that flew by. No wind blew on the beach, and so the sand remained as it was; blood soaked and pieces of the males neck flesh lay around the brute. Smartie blinked several times and then rose to her mitts. Her head shook and she looked at Phaxx.
" I would say good morning but..." her eyes shut in pain as she tried to walk. Searing up her leg from where the teeth wounds were did this pain, and she scolded herself for not being able to withstand such a pathetic excuse for a bite mark. Long bushy tail hung at her rear, she could not waste the little energy that she had to raise it, and swish it back and forth. Nor could she raise it as a sign victory, and she could not even bear to buck back her head and howl happily to the rising sun.
The water did look welcoming, but Smartie though that the salt would only worsen her pain, so she remained where she was. Lean stomach of the female grumbled angrily, as it called for food. It was true, she had not eaten since the previous afternoon. The limp bodice of the male wolf did not look welcoming, so she looked down her nose at the disgusting thing. Flies were already buzzing around the carcass, and Smartie wished to leave this area. She never told that to Phaxx though.
[[ Nuuu!! ;_; OK then... Whilst you sleep it is almost 2:00 pm in the after noon here =p. I'll see you whenever I get my Internet back -cries- ]]

Phaxx turned as she heard Smartie's voice, and she smiled. "'Morning," she said. "You should have a splash in the water, it's refreshing... especially after last night... She turned her gaze to the huge black male, and she shook her head softly. What shall we do with that guy? she wondered to herself. The menace from the previous night still hung in her mind, yet it still seemed like a dream...

It had been a week since the two females had encountered a black wolf whilst strolling along the sand of Scatterstone, one fine evening. The battle had been brutal, and blood was shed. However the wolf coming out the loser was indeed the black male who had taunted the two in the shrubs that bordered the land. This was early evening, and the two females, Phaxx and Smartie, sat in the shade of a palm tree, gazing up at the sky for the first twinkling stars. Both would seem content in lazing around, seeing as there was not much else for the two she wolves to do. At least one of them felt sore, still recovering from the attack of the mysterious male. Where he had come from, and who had sent him; the question remained in both of the females minds.
The she wolf that was recovering from the fight, was a slender four year old, and she went by the name of Smartie. A gash to her shoulder, and a bite to the hind quarters were still healing, and had crusted over on her fur. A patch of fur was missing from those areas, however she did not mind. As the moon began to rise, its light made her silver stripes that streaked across her fine pelt radiate, and they appeared to glow. Around them flew fire flies, buzzing around at their noses and heads. Interesting where these creatures to Smartie, and she snickered as one perched itself on her leathery nose.
" It is a fine night tonight Phaxx, is it not? The moon is shining, there is not a cloud in sight, and the air is calm and warm. If only nights were like this every night, then I would be happy."
The hind legs off this females stretched out as she lay on her side, with her head resting near a small mound of rubble rock. How it got to be there Smartie did not know, nor did she ponder the thought of why. She did not need a reason for something to be there, she did not have such an inquiring mind. The pupils of Smartie looked up to Phaxx, who was sitting near to her. The she wolf had put up a brave fight, and Smartie respected her for that.
Smartie believed her new friend had won two battles that night. The first being the defeat of the brute wolf; who's carcass had been scavenged by stray birds and small mammals such as fox, and only the bones remained. The second being a battle with her mind. Smartie had saw the she wolf as she suffered to make up her minds, although only through glancing at her several times. That was enough for this female to understand, and that was the reason why she had not asked what the problem was, with the female.
" Beautiful night..."

Phaxx's ears flicked as fireflies flitted around her, and she wore a faint, aloof smile on her dark-coloured face as she sat beneath the clear, new moonlight. Her emerald eyes gazed somewhat distantly at the shining moon, which cast its milky glow upon her and her new friend, Smartie, for she was thinking of the fight, only nights before, which had changed her, at least for the moment. Her mind was still questioning, curious of everything around her, yet there was a delicate, newfound strength to it. The female was not sure that she liked the change, but for now, it was alright.
She sighed deeply, then turned her gaze to Smartie, who lay beside her. Phaxx was glad to have her as a friend, and she briefly wondered how far she would go to protect her. Her mind churned through these things, underlined with a thin layer of thoughts about the evening, and of the small pile of rubble which Smartie lay near. Her friend's voice shot through her pool of thoughts, clear and crisp in comparison to the thick, shrouding manner of her mind, and she smiled more and nodded.
"Yes... It is..." The she-wolf suddenly found that she had nothing else to say, but she, too, thought that the world would be complete if all nights were like this: clear, peaceful and with an aura about it which made Phaxx think that she would think back on this time with sentimentality in darker times. Again, the thoughts crowded in her mind, and she shook her head, as if she was trying to clear them. "That night..." she said, in another attempt to get rid of her thoughts, and choosing her words carefully and scarcely, hoping that her friend would understand. "...why?

The pupils of the female glazed over as she turned her head to face her friend. Nodding as she agreed about the nights, wishing that they would be this beautiful all the time. Her eyes were narrowed, and the female looked rather sleepy. She was still fairly tired from the day that had been before this night. Smartie had been running along the beach, smacking over some crabs that she found. She had batted them between her paws, and their little pincers snapped the air, but she was quick to move her small mitts so that she was not nipped by those sharp claws. Smartie had then cruelly smashed apart the shell of one of the few crabs she had been taunting. Curious as to what was beneath the hard case that protected its delicate insides, she had thoughtlessly killed the little beast, without any remorse.
" That night...why..." and Smartie looked into the eyes of Phaxx, and she immediately realised what she meant. Smartie understood this female. The worried, inquiring mind of her must have been filled with questions, that she may have pondered asking for some time. One with problems such as Phaxx, were similar to what Smartie herself had experienced, and she knew how she felt. Or at least. She liked to think she did.
As the moonlight radiated against the silver stripes that streaked across ones grey pelt, making them glow slightly, the wolf moved, so that she was leaning on what would be her elbows. Her head would turn so that she faced the ocean, and she would look up, and gaze at the familiar horizon. The lone she wolf sighed, and looked at Phaxx. Delicate ebony lips parted, but no sound came from her. She sat there, with her mouth open, and then she closed it, and looked to the ground. She noticed that there was grass, but the sand had covered it. Blades of the grass had managed not to be flattened by the light grains of sand, and so they stuck out.
" I... Uhm..." Smartie was lost for words, and so she shut her eyes, and a long sigh escaped from her. She looked away with an expression more of sadness than frustration for not knowing what to say. The female shifted around on her stomach, looking uneasy. Why, had she that night? What was her reason for doing so? She did not know... or did she? But she could not think of how to put it into words? these thoughts were what filled her mind, and she lay her head on her paws, staring out to the ocean, waiting for a reasonable explanation to come to thought. " I don't know..." she stuttered.

As the moon reached its zenith and hung, suspended, from an invisible thread in the sky, Phaxx still pondered the string of events of a few nights ago. Of how it all pieced together, of what she and her friend, Smartie, had to do with it, and what the strange black wolf was doing there. As she turned her head to face the grey she-wolf, her green eyes gazed into Smartie's light-coloured ones, and Phaxx's mind turned to different things. Such as the existence of herself, the world, and every blade of grass or pebble under her paws.
She growled as she realised that knowing everything would be the end of her, and many others, so she pushed that thought away. But always, the thought of 'Why?' on the subject of that night hung like a veil over all other thoughts. Shaking her head yet again, she tried to change the subject.
"Smartie, would you rather have a night like this last forever, or... to spend eternity dancing in the starlight trails, even during the daylight?
Phaxx paused as she realised how stupid she sounded, and nervously chewed her lip, hoping Smartie wouldn't think of her as a mere, imagining puppy.

" Well... I would not actually prefer it if ever night was perfect. If everything and every beast was perfect, the world would be a boring place to live on. We would all die I think, if every single thing, every one, everything... was just... perfect..." Smartie had not thought Phaxx was a mere puppy with a huge imagination. ( But of course Smartie did not know Phaxx thought Smartie would portray her like that ). A sigh escaped ones tender lips and the grey and silvery female shifted around on the ground. She was still thinking about why she had helped Phaxx the previous week. She thought about how she could have left her, and she would not be so badly gashed at her shoulder, with a bite mark on her hind quarters, where she now had a slight limp. Limping around annoyed Smartie. It made her slower, and she would not be as precise with her movements now. But I guess that another life with live another day, thanks to my help... she pondered.
As the fireflies danced happily around them, embracing their short lives, enjoying every moment of it, Smartie could not help but feel bitter, and somewhat down. One could say she was lonely, and longed the companionship of another. Not a female, but perhaps a mate. Smartie was four years old now, and still she had not acquired herself a mate. There were the few potential mates, but none were ever right for her. With a sad look across her face, the somewhat strange pelt timber wolf moved to her feet, and she stretched out her fore paws, and her rump waved in the air.
The night was indeed perfect, or it was to be a perfect night. It was so early, that the sun had only just fell beyond the distance horizon of the ocean, and now the moon was coming. Small puffs of clouds were scattered here and there over the brilliant sky. Shades of pink, purple and orange were splashed across the blanket of space. Smartie did not know this however, because she, had not looked up to the sky. The slim she wolf moved two paces forward, and her pupils looked lazily to the sand. Stopping, the wolf pressed her paw into the sand, and then moved it away. A small wolf print was now "printed" on the ground, and Smartie placed her rump to the ground, and sighed.
The long grey fringe of fur that Smartie has on her head hung to her right side, the side were she had pressed her right slender leg to the ground. Staring down at the print the wolf had made, again she sighed, then looked away, to her left. The ocean was calm, and the gentle swaying noises that it made as the tide moved slowly came to ones erect lobes, that twitched to it. Leather nose twitched just then, and Smartie turned to her right, and gazed at the never ending trail of sand, as it stretched into the distance.
" Is there not some sort of place... beyond the right hand horizon? Y'know... one of those animals who stand on two paws, and use their fore paws to do... whatever they do with? I have seen one before... and he was in a floating tree [ a boat, made of wood ] in the middle of the water... Phaxx?" she said, and turned to face her friend.

Phaxx's eyelids were sinking downwards, for so peaceful and full was this night, and the fireflies darting around them was so mesmerising... Smartie's voice shot through her trance and she was awake and alert again. Pondering deeply upon her friend's words, she chose her own words carefully. "...I'm not sure.. maybe... it sounds like a strange concept, but I suppose it could be possible...?" It was, indeed, a strange concept to the femme, for creatures who stood on their hindlegs and standing in floating trees seemed unnatural to her.
But Phaxx's thoughts, too, soon turned to ones of company of the other gender. She wondered what it was like to truly love someone, and be truly loved in return, but she knew she would never find one who could accept her for who she was inside: a dreamy, weak, pup. Shaking her head violently, her gaze averted to Smartie's pawprint in the sand, and likewise, her thoughts averted to memories of the crab struggling, upside-down, in a similar pawprint, only a week ago. How far I have come from then... she thought rather bitterly, but I am still, somehow, the same. Is it my fault that I am like this? And then, once again, she wished that she had the strength and courage of one like her friend, Smartie.

Tilting her head slightly, her ears straining to hear Phaxx, she gazed into the horizon. In the distance, she could see one of those animals on their hind legs, sitting in a tree on the water. Feeling that this was somewhat a coincidence, she turned to face Phaxx, and simply nodded as she finished speaking. Her mouth opened to speak, but no sound came out and she closed her jaws. Phaxx seemed to be in too much of a day dream, or in her thoughts. Smartie did not want to ruin those train of thoughts, dreams or intentions, and so she lay down on her stomach in her sand.
She placed her paws neatly beneath the print which she had made in grains of rock and alluvium which had been washed upon the shore. From the trees above her, fell a leaf. A small one. It landed on her real paw, and she flicked it so that it landed on the print. Lowering her nose, she sniffed the leaf. Its sweet aroma filled her nostrils and she smiled, and turned her nose to look at Phaxx. She looks like she is enjoying gazing at these flying lights [ fire flies ].
Sitting alone, on the beach, known as Scatterstone to the humans, with a new friend was good enough for Smartie. Right now, she did not feel like getting involved in the bickering and fighting between Synl and Sallin. Putting up with being attacked, and having to scavenge for food in the animals on their hinds territory was too much for a simple wolf such as she. The silver and grey wolf sighed once more, and shut her eyes momentarily, before reopening them, and staring at Phaxx.
" What is on your mind? " she said abruptly, and so soon she shocked herself that she had to blink several times before she realised, she had spoken. Smartie was still laying on her stomach, with her hing legs stretched behind her, and her forelegs stretched in front of her. She nuzzled the sand for a second, then looked back to Phaxx for her reaction, and her reply.

Phaxx started violently as Smartie's voice broke through her mist of thoughts, shattering it. In a way, she was glad that her friend had done that, for she might've become overwhelmed. What would happen without that wolf, I wouldn't know, she thought, referring to Smartie. Then, remembering that her friend had asked her a question, she had to think for a while to remember what she had been thinking about. Feeling foolish, she said, "Nothing, really... Just... boring things, nothing really interesting, I'm sure you'd get sick of it if I explained...
Watching Smartie lie beside her, Phaxx watched as the small leaf flickered in the soft breeze, and in the silence that followed her words, she could almost hear te fluttering of the sail far away on the horizon. Is that a trick of the light? she wondered. What strange events are happening now that I have met Smartie...

Smartie did not look at Phaxx as she spoke. She had turned her head so that her nose pressed into the sand, and she snorted, blowing up the grains as she did so. Her ear twitched as Phaxx finished off, and her pupils moved to look at her, although her nose remained prodding into the soft white sand of Scatterstone. Her eyes glimmered in the moonlight as it rose into the air. The twinkling of the stars may have been reflected in her eyes, and then she looked up with sand clinging to her moist nose. The moon was glowing brilliantly in the sky and Smartie could not help but smile, and then she looked to her new friend.
Perhaps we should do something? We should not waste such a glorious evening just lying around here now? the striped wolf spoke, and then she rotated her head the other way, gazing at the stretch of sand. This beach sure is long... and she looked the other way thinking I wonder what is over there, with those beasts on hind legs ( humans ). What are... they doing with those balls of fire on wood? Smartie shifted, lying now on her side. Her nostrils flared with the scent of burning trees. What are they... never mind... Nothing to do with me...
Deep in concentration now, Smartie rose to her feet, with a worried yet stern look upon her face. Her ears lay folded flat on her head, and her scruff ruffled, as she made a quick advance to the water. Why she was going here, she did not know. Perhaps it was because she did not want to alert Phaxx with her expression? Well, whatever it was, it was glistening in the water. Something was shining by the shore, something, strange. The she wolf felt compelled to it, and she snorted, leaning down to investigate.
" What the..."

Sleep had already begun to descend on Phaxx, and her eyes slid close, too tired to keep them open any longer. She didn't want to abandon Smartie, for she knew how horrible it was to have no one to talk to... she'd lived enough years alone. How glad she was to have found a friend, finally...
Her eyes snapped open. There was a strange crackling sound, and it smelt of smoke. Fire! her mind screamed, and she leapt to her paws, every muscle in her body quivering, ready to bolt once her mind confirmed it. But as she looked around, she realised that the fire was a while away, among the trees. And she also noticed that Smartie was not beside her any more.
How long have I been asleep? she thought as she gazed up at the sky. It was still dark; she had not slept for long. She started to descend towards the water, wondering where her friend could be. Then a glitter flashed at her from the water. She subconsciously registered that Smartie was near the water, but she was too strangely drawn to it to react...

Lifting her paw, Smartie prodded at the glimmering item in the water. It reflected the soothing glow off the moon, and it bobbed around as the small tide waves washed it onto the beach and finally leaving it on the soaked sand. Thrusting her nose to it, Smartie did not look to Phaxx. She looked like she was content in her dreams and so she had proceeded to the water to investigate it. Whatever it was, it was smooth. Inside it was enclosed some sort of liquid that did not appear to be water. Whatever it was, it did not look nice. The contents looked thick and not very pleasant to drink from.
" Phaxx, come and see this... " Called Smartie, looking over her shoulder to see her Phaxx make a slow descent towards her. Her tail swished happily from side to side as she turned around and pointed her nose to the item again, her nose pressing against the smooth surface. Her ears twitched and she sniffed a few times, and then she licked it with her tongue. It did not taste at all strange, but yet, it did not look nice to eat. Although, it was tempting... No. Don't eat strange... things... She told herself, and she pressed her paw against it again.
Smartie then leaped backwards, almost landing on Phaxx as she came closer, making a curious noise. Her ears fell upon her head and she growled, leaping back at it, pounding her paws off of it. This only made the object sink into the sand, and then the water came in, washing over it and wetting her paws. Smartie growled, but playfully. Her tail was swaying faster now and she leaped into the water, chasing the tide as it went out. This was so that Phaxx could see what she had been looking at it. Her ears were erect and she barked at the water as it chased her back up the sand. Her fur on her legs was wet with the sea water and she ran past Phaxx and the glistening object, chuffing as the tide stopped. As it retreated back to the object, the she wolf chased after it, growling at it. These actions continued and Smartie did not appear to be bored.
Playing in the water had always been a past time hobby of Smartie. She had enjoyed how the freshwaters of streams splashed against her face as she wrestled with her brothers in the shallow areas. The recollected one day, when she was walking by the stream, and her paw slipped. Then she had lost her balance and had fallen in with a big splash, which had then compelled her brothers to leap after her. From a small distance her father and mother had watched. Her father was a stern wolf, who never really approve of play. Although he was a softie at heart. He only acted that way to impress her mother, but that all failed. Her mother on the other hand had been smiling, and she had trotted over and had pushed one of her other brothers into the water with a nudge of her nose.
Smartie stopped, and let the water catch her and then retreat and repeat. Smartie looked to the object as her friend was no doubt also as equally interested in its peculiar glow. That was one of the many memories Smartie had of her puppy hood, and she cherished each and every one of them. But oh how similar this scene was too now. Running, in the water... splashing around... hm... what fun it had been.
" Well Phaxx? What do you think this... thing is? " Smartie said, and she joined her friend, standing next to her, and staring at the shimmering, smooth... some thing.
