"Fine. I'm fine." Drox told her. He layed down as Vega started towards him. Flinching from the pain in his back, he asked her "Why are you still here?" Not understanding why someone that witnessed such a horrid sight would still be around. His tone was that of very soft and nice for a change. He felt a strange feeling come over him. Laying down on his side he attempted to nuzzle his snout against her leg to give her a hint of how he felt. He didn't know how she would react so he briefly nuzzled her and then retreated. He just noticed that he might like Vega a little more than he originally thought. Lying there injured and in intense pain he waited for Vega's reaction patiently.

Vega shook her head, from his pain expressions and movements Vega could plainly see had had been beat up pretty badly. She smiled at his question, "Maybe, just maybe you intrigue me a little, even if you are quite stubborn," she said with a playful smirk. She was surprised at his softened tone of voice, but it was a nice surprise. She watched as he rolled over onto his side and felt him push up against her foreleg. Her blue gaze dropped in shock to his suddenly affectionate behavior, it truly caught her off guard.
She smiled at him, moving around to his back where he had been injured, "Here, let me clean this up for you." Unsure of how he would react she gently licked at the deep wound, trying to get the drying blood out of his deep brown pelt and keep the injury from becoming infected. After taking care of the bite wound, she lifted her head to gently nuzzle up against the back of his shoulders. Maybe this guy wasn't so mean after all, it appeared he had a totally different side to him once you cracked his tough shell.

Noticing Vega's subtle reaction, Drox nuzzles his head against her leg and keeps it there. A feeling of serenity came over Drox with a chill down his spine. Laying there with his head against Vega with the sun inching over the horizon he finally felt whole. "I've never felt this way." he told Vega. Then he quietly dozed off in a deep sleep, for he hadn't slept in fourty-three hours.

Morning already? Vega thought as she squinted her light eyes in the rising sun. Shaded behind the tombstones, Vega smiled warmly down at Drox. In this weakened and tired state, he had begun to reveal a softer side beneath the frightening masquerade. Being witness to this affectionate behavior, Vega had noticed that a feeling began to grow inside of her, a feeling that she had never known before. She wanted nothing more than to just lay here with Drox and take care of him always.
When Drox spoke, Vega smiled down at him again, she had never known such a feeling herself either. Watching him doze off, he looked so peaceful and relaxed. Vega laid down next to Drox, curling her small figure up right next to Drox's collapsed form. She draped her head over Drox's shoulders. Smiling to herself, she sighed and looked back at the sleeping Drox, She imgained it had been quite awhile since the troubled male had been able to relax like this and was happy to know that he could this relaxation by being with her. She rested her head back on him and shut her eyes, and smile still creasing the corners of her maw, all was right with the world at that moment.

It stroke dead noon before drox awakened. Sleepy and still quite tired he perked his head up and scanned the horizon. He perked his ears up as he stood there listening for anything that didn't belong. For the first time he was protecting someone else besides himself. A rustling noise startled him and his head swiveled around quickly. Merely a squirrel gathering nuts at the foot of the oak tree in the cemetery. He was going to protect her at all costs. "She is so beautiful" he thought looking at the peaceful and beautiful she-wolf asleep at his feet. He layed his head back down and closed his eyes as happiness took control. An emotion that Drox hadn't felt since the death of his former mate.

Vega awoke not long after Drox had. The sun had rose high in the sky by now and Vega squinted her eyes against it's brightness, wanting to sleep for a moment longer, and she also did not wish to ruin such a tender moment so abruptly. She slowly opened her blue eyes and yawned widely, turning her head to look at Drox, who appeared to have gone back to sleeping by her side. Vega was pleased to find that Drox had not scooted away from her during their rest together, and she smiled at the resting warrior. As he slept, she looked the big male up and down, noting numerous scars that laid scattered across his pelt. "You poor guy, you must've been through alot," she said softly to herself, so as not to wake him up.

Drox woke up Vega as he stood. Drox took a moment and streched. He couldn't stop thinking about Vega. Through the night he dreamt of her. He didn't want her to know that. Drox stood there watching Vega's every move. Just yesterday he had followed her into the cemetery and watched her enjoy the sunset from afar. Acksel's corpse was still laying in the middle of the cemetery. Drox dragged it into the nearest tomb. Drox gagged as he walked back towards Vega. Flies had enveloped the corpse and the stench of rotting flesh floated through the air. He showed no remorse whatsoever for killing his brother. To Drox, Acksel deserved it.

Vega stretched her long forelegs forward in a lazy stretch as she yawned again. Drawing her legs back and standing up, she smiled at Drox, "Good afternoon," she said in a rather jovial manner. But the happy mood soon died off as Drox went forth to dispose of Acksel's body. Vega scrunched up her nose at the horrible scent of decaying flesh that eminated from the corpse. As Drox continued on with the depressing deed, he dragged the remains to the nearest opened grave and dropped the body inside. Quite ironic really that his brother would die in a graveyard. Vega took note at the lack of any regret or sadness on Drox's features. She did not know yet the back story of why the brothers hated each other, but only knew that she could trust Drox not to just kill without logical cause for it.

"I know what you want to know." Drox said to Vega. "It's a long and complicated story." He said as he knew that Vega was puzzled as to why he killed his brother by the look on her face. "I'll tell you later." Drox said as he came in front of her and sat down. The sun was straight overhead and the temperature continued to rise. Drox began to pant. Drox gazed into Vega's eyes searching her soul and inner spirit for anything that would teach him more about her character. He wanted to get to know her. But he wasn't sure if he wanted her to know more about himself.

Simply nodding to Drox's response to her inquisitive behavior. She laid down in the shadow casted by a tombstone to escape the escalating temperatures. "Agh, this heat. Spring came far too early this year," she spoke wistfully, oh how she longed to just turn back time to the chill of winter. But this foul and sweltering heat could suck the life out of you if you weren't careful. Her tongue rolled out of her jaws as she also began to pant softly, laying facing Drox.
As he looked toward her, his piercing eyes seemed to gaze right through her, all seeing and all knowing. Their gaze locked, if Vega had the ability to blush, she would've at that moment, for in the intensity of their eye-to-eye stare, a spark occurred. Vega could see in his eyes the toughness and fierceness of a warrior, but at the same time the tenderness and kindness that lay hidden beneath. "How is your wound feeling?" she asked, remembering Drox's terrible injury delivered by what was now the rotting corpse in the bottom of the grave.

"It's still sore." said Drox after a few moments of silence. "I'm on the hunt for my family. I want them dead. I have killed 3 brothers thus far. My mother and father abandoned me when i was just a pup. I haven't forgiven them and I won't until justice is served." Drox said as he layed down. He didn't like telling Vega that he was an unremorseful killer.
"Don't let that scare you though." he told Vega. He would never hurt her. "You're safe by my side." he said. He meant this with everything he had. He didn't want to admit it to himself but he was falling in love with her.

Vega frowned at the fact that Drox wound was still causing him to suffer, it had been one hell of a bite. She got up from her position and walked over to his side, inspecting and licking at the wound a second time, "This is one nasty bite, it will probably be a scar.." she informed him. Vega eased herself down to lay next to him as he begun his retelling of his history. As she had guessed, the loner had been through hell and back, abandoned as a pup, exalted from another pack, and having his own family on the hunt for him. Eyes full of worry for her new ally, Vega truly felt sorry for all the hardships he had gone through in his life.
A smile and happiness lighted in her face and eyes at Drox's second statement. "Don't worry, I'm not afraid. If you're story is as you say it is you seek to kill with just cause. Something so sever as the abandonment of a young pup is not something that can be forgiven," she said in understanding of his quest for revenge.

"Vega, I need to confess something to you. I believe that there is something here between us that is special." Drox said hesitantly. He went on to confess his love for Vega. This was a first for Drox. His loving and caring side had shown for the first time in a long while. Drox had almost forgotten about his good side.

Vega lay there, perfectly still in shock and surprise at the situation at hand. Her stormy eyes opened wide in the excitement of it all she sat there, listening to him speak and confess his deepest feelings for her. The young she wolf had never known a feeling like this, the feeling she had for Drox, even after only having met him the night before. The female had never known what it felt like to truly love and be loved by those other than family members, and that kind of love was something different altogether.
A wide, tender small crept onto Vega's lips as she also told Droxili of the strong feelings she had had for him from the start. Her bushy tail wagging softly behind her in happiness, she let impulse take action and slowly leaned forward and gently licked the edge of Drox's nose in an innocent, cute manner, drawing back quickly, almost feeling foolish that she had done so.

Drox anxiously waited for a response from Vega after pooring his heart out. What had he just done? Has he made a total fool of himself? This was unlike him. The large grey-wolf that at first glance seems heartless and ruthless has professed his love for a she-wolf only hours after meeting her. Vega seemed to welcome his confession and a smile came on Drox's face. He could love again. Something that before her seemed impossible to do. Drox explained why it was so hard to confess. He went into what happened to his first love. She was pregnant with a litter of their pups. Drox began to tear up. Why would such a ruthless killer such as Drox have such a soft side. He could tell Vega saw right through him the moment they met. He had just discovered that love may be the best thing for him. He continued explaining why he has feared love for so long. "What does the future hold for me and her?" he thought inquisitively. "I love her so much and I've only known her for less than 24 hours." he thought. Drox then placed his head on Vega's shoulder blade. Here he felt content.
