“Unlike some of my old friends, I’m not an expert on humans.” said Dave gazing at the body, “But I doubth this died natural death.”
Indeed, the body laid in a strange angle, as if it has been forced to the ground. It’s legs were spread, and bent as it was trying to knock someone or something off with them.
“There is no blood.” noted Dave while he walked around the corpse. “Female. I wouldn’t tell by look, but the scent is a dead giveaway. And so is about it’s age. She must’ve been in the last third of her life. The smell of rot says she’s dead since I arrived. Lucky I didn’t decide to sleep in here.”
Here Dave looked at Tharim and saw the bread he found. “What’s that?” he asked surprized. He have seen bread before, even tasted it once, but he never would have thought one of his kind would willingly try to eat any of it. Based on his own experiences about it.

Haruko tilted his head and studied the body as Almerun explained it. Only when their was a pause in his voice did he realize that the other canine had asked a question. He quickly ran over the dialogue and turned to face him.
"What- oh!"
Suddenly realizing what he had asked, the wolf-dog looked down at the loaf of bread and leaned down to nose it toward Almerun.
"It's bread," he explained while inching the food toward him, "My old master used to... feed me some when he... ran out of kibble."
He picked his head up to meet the gaze of the older wolf.
"Would you like some?"

Dave looked at the wolf-dog for a moment, than started laughing. He probabaly haven’t laughed like this for months.
“Great one kid! You almost got me there for a moment!” he said finally, when he managed to speak. But soon the smile melted off his face, when he saw the Tharim’s face. “You are being serious?” he asked, “Oh, no! You cannot mean that. Why would you munch that dried thing when we found barely aged meat? Sure she might have been old, but I bet she tastes better than that piece of bread you have there.”
The light in the room started to seriously fade away, as the fire finally burned out.
“Besides, I’ve never tasted menflesh.”

"Nani!? IIE!" Haruko barked, outraged.
Suddenly protective of the female's body, Haruko jumped between it and the wolf. He turned to Almerun and bared his teeth slightly, but kept his posture, ears, and tail down and submissive. He still did not want to pick a fight with the older male.
"Da mita!" he said urgently, "You can't eat a human!"
In all his years as a pet, Haru had never once considered eating the body of one. The thought of it made him sick. It was like giving someone permission to chew on your dead brother. It just wasn't done in his eyes.
Lowering himself below the wolf, Haru made sure it didn't look like he posed a threat to him. He didn't want to fight him, but he would have to if he insisted on consuming the 'meat.'

Dave turned towards the body, to examine his strange meal closer, when the strangest thing happened. The Tharim, who until now was listening quietly, now barked and jumped inbetween him and the human’s corpse. He bared his teeth and snarled at him, but he still kept a defensive pose, as if telling he wasn’t trying to attack him, but protecting the body. But for what reason?
“What are you doing exactly?” asked Dave startled, “Do you happen to know her, by any chance?”

"Iie," said the wolf-dog, shaking his head to interpret a negative, "But I don't think it's a good idea to go around eating humans. What if another one walks in here? They'll think you killed her and they'll shoot you. I've seen it done!"
His speech came quick and more precise than usual. Perhaps it was his adrenaline. Whatever it was, there was no way this wolf would eat the human and live to tell about it. Haru might not kill him, but someone would.
"Take it from someone who knows. Humans, dead or alive, are NOT safe food!"
{{So's mine. It's contagious. DX}}

The wolf only stood there stunned by the sudden confidence of the Tharim. He was standing up against him even though, until now he seemed to be calm and respectful towards him. However, this behaviour told Dave, he still should be careful with the Tharim. The wolf-dog kept speaking to him about how bad his idea was, but Dave just couldn’t understand why the wolf-dog defended the body so much. Than he said it. “They’ll shoot you,” he said, and like a lightning run trough Dave’s body, the recognition; He didn’t know what that word means.
“Shoot me?” he asked when the Tharim finished, “What does ‘Shoot’ stands for?”
He has been to many places, but he never met this phrase. Although, he has met the event it ment. He did see his fellow wolf falling the victim of human weaponry. Humans had the ability to stay unnoticed at such events.

"Err..." Haru paused at the wolf's question, thinking hard. It was hard enough to describe it in his native tongue, but now he had to translate. He didn't realize that he would have to explain the concept of a long-range weapon to an elder such as this.
"Humans have these things called 'guns'... Visualize a tree branch... They're loaded with... umm... well, they're called 'bullets'... They're like fangs... The humans can make the fangs fly from the end of the branch... They can pierce anything... Even a deer's skull."
The wolf-dog chanced a glance at the dead human before looked back up at Almerun with terror-filled eyes. He didn't want the first wolf he met to fall to a man's bullet.
"Even if you left before other humans arrived, they could tell it was a wolf that ate her. They'll hunt your kind until there's nothing left!"

The wolf listened silently as the Tharim explained the threat the humans owned against him. By the time he finished Dave was more confused, then in a long time. Fangs flying out of branches, made by people, who are too lazy to trawel on their foot?
“Non--” he started, but the end of the word was only a thought. -- sense.
Something came to his mind. Memories of long lost friends. He saw many strange and unordinary things in his life, but non of them were as strange as the night he lost three members of his pack. It was long ago befor he became an alpha. Dave felt it how his face turned darker by seconds. His memories seemed to crawl out on his face.
“So humans you say?” he asked the Tharim. He did a short circle around the woman laying on the floor. Also noticing the brown spots on the visible parts of her body, and her neck, as if she was beaten and strangled. Than he turned to the wolf-dog again. “If what you say is true, and what I think is right, that’d make humans my enemies by all chances.”

Haru watched silently as Almerun walked around the human. He tenced, waiting for the black and white wilf to bite down. If he even so much as scratched the dead female, it would be all over. Haru wouldn't stick around. He'd only be putting his life in danger as well.
"Not all humans are... your enemies... right now... But you'd be a fool to bite that one. They'll be after you once they found out it was a wolf bite."
Haru sat down, trying to relax his nerves, waiting for the other to reply.

“What!” snapped Dave, “Right. I’d obviously be a fool to get the attention of anyone like these, --for a lousy meal like this.” he looked at the Tharim, trying to calm himself, than sighed again. “Besides, why would I want to harm something that was already dead, with revenge?”
The wolf-dog was right. It would have been a great risk to leave messed up proof for his, or their presense. But the thought, the memory of his dying mates was still in his mind. “...The living are the right things for this.” Dave turned and walked towards the door, but after two steps he stopped. The anger eased and settled down. It happened ages ago. Even he could barely remember the events. Of course the Tharim couldn’t have any ideas what he saw, and gone trough. ...But perhaps he did know. The way he held Dave back when he wanted to feed on the corpse... First he thought he was stopping him by respect for the women’s body, but when he spoke of humans, his voice was so desperate.
“On a second thought though,” started Dave glancing toward the Tharim, “I wonder what ended the poor creature’s life...”
His stomach was aching with pain of hunger, but he had to take his mind off of the thought of memories. He walked back to the Tharim, to further over see the past events.
(no. Not crap post. Conversation post. By the way, I thought Haru couldn't speak Dave out of eating of the old hag XD Congrats Howl!)

{{WHOOHOO!! Good job, Haru! *highfives him* XD }}
Haruko's nerves eased as he watched Almerun approach the door. He was just about to follow him when the wolf turned back and returned to closer proximity to the corpse. He pulled his ears back down a bit further, scared for whatever was on the other's mind. He had never before associated with wolves aside from his relatives. They were... unpredictable... at best.
“I wonder what ended the poor creature’s life...” he said as he passed him.
"It was probably another human. They tend to not cooperate with each other often..."
Haru cringed as the memory of his master's death snuck into his mind. It was horrible, but as much as he missed his old master, he desperately wished to know the meaning behind his murder. Although, he was beginning to wander if fate would keep him from his goal.

“They tend to not cooperate with each other?” repeated Dave amazed, “I think that’s a very light way to describe this. I thought they were community centered. I didn’t know they had a tendency to kill each other?”
Dave took a few closer looks at the body, trying to find clues as to what happened to the woman. Her clothes were shreded at places, but that could have been an effect of being used for long. After checking out the corpse again he turned around and started to examine the room they were in. It was very dark inside, but Dave could make out a few things inside. There was no table in the room, but two chairs placed infront of the fireplace. There was a bed in the other side of the room with a little night-stand, with a half glass of water and a box. It was interesting, that the walls of the little room were filled with hanged up plants. All of them were different, dark and light green, grey, red, and even purple. Small ones, long ones, short ones, ones with few, big and some with many, small leaves.
“Herbs?” asked Dave so quietly, even he barely heard it.
“Hey! Tharim!” he turned to the wolf-dog suddenly, “Could you come here and help he in something?”

Haruko watched as Almerun studied the body. He was beginning to get creeped out by the thing. As the wolf started to look around the room, Haru began to head for the door. He didn't want to stick around here any longer. As he turned to invite the wolf to follow him, he was greeted by the canine's loud voice. His ears fell, thinking he was in some sort of trouble. Only when he registered that the wolf wanted him to help with something did he tilt his head in a curious manner.
"Help? With what?"
He noticed that the wolf had been eyeing the herbs around the room and he started inspecting them himself while approaching the black and white canine. He stopped about a foot or two away from him, eyes glued to a plant with long leaves.
"These things are of interest to you?"

Dave had an idea.
If the Tharim was right, and a human indeed was responsible for the elder woman’s death, it might have been the man he saw leave a day ago. He knew how to find it out if he was right, but it was beyond his abilities to do so. His nose could pick up stronger scents, especially if those were from other canines or prey, but for humans he was basically blindt. But the Tharim probably wasn’t. He just had to find a way to get the wolf-dog to search around for scents, without letting him know of his flaws. He trusted the young for now, but he barely knew anything about him. Not to mention how badly the moist affected his scent.
“I do hope you wouldn’t mind if I’d have a little test for you.” Dave started off, “I’d like to know how good you are at finding and tracking down scents.”
