Paws moved carefully over the soft sands as Dana held a nearly worried expression. Thoughts ran through her mind, as she tried to sort this all out. It made sense... but... really, were they ready for this? Together? How would John take it? Was he able to handle children, after having lost his son? Letting out a sigh, her pacing stopped and she looked up into the sky. If this would have been before the accident at the docks, she would have been seeking guidance and answers, but now that faith was nearly gone, as no one up there helped when she almost slipped away...
Dana growled to herself as she thought of that day. Things had really changed, and they made a big decision on that day as well. Even though they'd both nearly lost their lives, there was still that unknown attraction to the water that the Shepard still had, accept she was wary near the waters, and hadn't even ventured on the docks recently. Dana shook her head, knowing that she was sitting here trying to change the subject in her own mind...
She had to tell him... He'd figure it out eventually, I mean once she became the size of a boat, he might become suspicious... It was going to be hard though, as much as having a family, and being tied even closer together, was one of the most amazing things in the world to Dana, she knew John's reaction might not be just as pleasant as her own...
[Don't worry yourself over length in this thread... I just wanna have a bit of fun here ^.^]

[ooc; The boat part made me laugh.]
At a rather slow pace (as he was still sore from the day he almost drowned), John approached Dana. He had spotted her while simply wandering around. Not much else to do after he opted to keep away from the water for a bit. That day on the dock was still on his mind, and had kept him from sleeping properly since it had happened. Oh well. He and Dana were fine, that was all that mattered right? He had no idea of the news that she carried.
Of course, it wouldn’t scare the shit out of him either way. He had had a child before. He knew of the sorrows that they could bring. Of course they could also bring joy… sometimes. Still, the death of his child still hung in his mind. It was always there. And would only disappear when he was lying dead somewhere. But unaware, he kept headed towards her in that slow gait. ”Dana.” he said, one of those rare smiles on his face. When he finally made it to her, he kept a wary eye on the icy waters.
[ooc; Even if we aren't worrying about size, it is HORRIBLY short]

Turquoise eyes closed as she took in a deep breath, and listened to the waters, simply allowing the warm salty scent to calm and relax her. Dana sorely wished that she could just clear her mind and chill out for a moment, as at this very moment, she was so extremely stressed about the future, past and present all at once... The Shepard felt as if she's just bitten off a bit more then she could chew here. Her gentle, eyes, that now held a secret sparking within them, opened, as her head tilted upon hearing John's deep voice. She couldn't help but smile, seeing him rather happy was always a good sign.
"Hi... John..."
She spoke quietly, her voice gentle and calm, though wavering slightly. Dana sighed, and quietly drew herself closer to her companion, before settling herself into the sand again. She turned her gaze out into the distant waters as she thought.
[Tis just fine! ^.^]

Today was a rather odd day, because John seemed unusually happy. He didn’t know why exactly he was so joyful, but it wasn’t bothering him. There seemed to be something wrong with Dana though. He could sense it, and easily see it. After she had greeted him with her slightly wavering voice, for a few seconds his wide smile dimmed just a bit. Now he knew that there was something definitely wrong. He wasn’t sure if he should say anything about it or not. It could make it worse, or it could help. Ugh. John felt like an moron now, unable to help Dana. Idiot, he growled at himself.
Not exactly sure what to do, the Canaan Dog said, “Beautiful day isn’t it?” His smile had slowly begun to wane as he took his place beside her. Hopefully, Dana wouldn’t notice that his happiness was beginning to fade away for some unknown reason. To try and hide the fact that his smile was dissapearing, John acted as if he was surveying the beauty of the land around them.

Dana paused, giving a soft sigh, she leaned against her companion with a soft smile. It was true, she couldn't quite believe it, as fast as it happened, but she loved John, and was extremely lucky to have him at her side to raise their family... The Shepard mix grinned at the thought, as she nuzzled the one beside her with a another sigh of content.
"Yes it is..."
She replied to her friend's question, with her turquoise gaze turned up to look at him. Joy, admiration, and that secret little sparkle was in her warm, loving gaze. Pausing she looked out across the distant waters, closing her orbs in deep thought. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard to tell him...
"John... Theres something you should know..."

John sat there quietly, his once large grin now having turned into a smaller smile. There was something about how Dana was acting that seemed different. He couldn’t say why, but knew that he would soon find out. The Canaan Dog’s eyes were fixed on the waves, as they moved towards and away from the shore in a rhythmic motion. He gave an almost inaudible sigh. Momentarily, the turquoise eyes turned to meet Dana’s gaze. There was something different about that too. Then, his eyes moved back towards the seemingly endless waves, a sad smile on his features.
"John... There’s something you should know..."
His eyes instantly torn away from the water, John looked down at Dana, concern flooding into his features. Any trace of the smile had been wiped clean, as his gazed locked on her. Now, there was a half-frown on his features. He had known that something wasn’t quite right and he knew that he should have said something.
“W… what’s wrong?” There was a hint of hesitation mixed in with the concern in his tone.

Dana smiled softly, and shook her head, upon seeing John's great concern, as his tone was just as worried as his expression. She knew he was caring, and always watching out for her, making it seem even easier to let him know of her good news. Letting out a soft sigh, she nuzzled him once more, and her smile grew brighter.
"No, theres nothing wrong at all..."
She spoke quietly, her tone gentle and sweet. Drawing back slightly, she looked John in his eyes that nearly matched her own. Pausing, she drew her paw over his, in a comforting manner, as she continued to smile. This was it...
"John... I'm..."
Sighing again, the Shepard mix glanced away, realizing it was still hard to tell him, especially since she couldn't even say the words out right...

There was nothin’ wrong? John could have let out a sigh of relief, but didn’t, seeing how Dana was acting. Whatever she had on her mind wasn’t bad, yet she still couldn’t tell him, so it had to be something important. It was starting to agitate the Canaan Dog. He didn’t show it though, in case she mistook it for anger, even though it was nearly impossible for him to be angry and her.
”What is it?” After glancing down at her paw that she had laid on his, John’s turquoise eyes locked with Dana’s again. His eyes showed something like desperation, although his voice was unusually soft and calm. Although he was anything but. He felt panic slowly ebb through him, despite not showing any signs of it. She had said that there wasn’t anything wrong, but Dana would probably lie to protect him.

Dana smiled, looking to John again with her caring gaze. No, she didn't like to see him so concerned, as she could feel his concern, and anxiousness. Though she still felt unable to let the words slip from her maw, truth or not, god or bad, it didn't matter it had to be said. Letting out a sigh, she drew her muzzle against his in yet another way to comfort him. Tilting her head softly, she looked at him with bright orbs, that glowed slightly with that new spark of life within her.
"John... I'm... pregnant..."
Her whispered nearly inaudible, as she looked to him with a loving gaze, drawing her paw harder against John's. The Shepard wished to learn how he felt of hearing this, at how she had finally been able to tell him, flat out. Nothing would change this, and raising a family... Would mean the world to her...

[-resuscitates-]
Despite the smile of his companion, John sat there, silently dreading whatever she was trying to say to him. The look on his face and in his eyes still hadn’t changed since his smile had slipped away. Concern, anxiety, and desperation could still be seen on the features of the Canaan Dog. A frown still drawn on his face. Turquoise eyes kept searching Dana’s as if the answer to what she was trying to tell him was there. Now, Dana was trying to comfort him. There had to be something wrong then, otherwise she would have come right out and told him.
"John... I'm... pregnant..."
John’s features went blank for a moment. It took a few seconds for his mind to actually register what she had whispered to him. When it finally did register, he couldn’t believe it. This is a joke, right? This must be a joke… But Dana looked to serious for it to be a joke. Although she had finally told him what he had been waiting to hear, the panic that had flooded in to him didn’t leave for a minute or two as he tried to figure things out. They were having kids, why wasn’t he happy? This was what Dana wanted right? He loved her and he should be happy if this was really what she wanted. Shouldn’t he?
John’s face was still blank. His eyes still fixed on Dana. He still couldn’t find it in him to smile or say anything as he went on thinking about the current situation.

As Dana watched him stay silent, holding that blank expression, her eyes grew concerned. She now wondered if this was even the right time to tell him, or anything that could possibly be running through his mind at this very moment. He wanted them, right? That wasn't why he'd gone silent... The Shepard mix hoped and prayed this couldn't be why he wasn't speaking. Just a little shocked. She stayed there standing strong, trying to convince herself of this, without giving him reason to believe that she was now worried.
Standing up, she held her paw over his, not only now trying to comfort, but to calm him. This was really new to her, this expression, just staring at her, without a single word. She shook her head, and continued to hold her serious, yet warm gaze. The spark inside, was now made clear after she had told John of it. She took a deep breath, and tried to hold her smile as she leaned closer to her companion. At the moment, she held no grudge, nor anger toward John at his moment, for this odd behavior, she didn't blame him at all, but simply held concern for him.
"John."
She spoke softly, her tone soft and caring, just wanting for him to reply, tell her he was okay.. And if need be, they could discuss what was happening, and would happen. The Shepard paused before pulling closer to John and nuzzling his neck carefully. "...I love you..."

Kids. He loved kids, much like Dana. John wanted them, as he had years ago when his first and only (until now) child had been born. He may not have been the perfect father back then, but he had tried his best… and it wasn’t enough. Maybe that’s why he stood there, expression and eyes completely lacking any emotion. The truth was that it scared him. The possibility that it could happen again. And the fact that despite all he had done, he had lost his first born. That was why he wasn’t speaking as Dana watched him.
What seemed to wake him up from this trance was the fact that Dana had said his name. He blinked a couple of times before turning his attention back towards her. She had nuzzled his neck, which made him slightly feel guilty for spacing her out even if it was only for a minute or two. He still hadn’t fully thought things through, but there would be time for that. Traces of a frown could be seen as he went over that last few thoughts again.
“I love you too.” His answer was quiet. Unable to cast away the thought of history repeating itself. He wasn’t sure he could handle that again. Or losing his mate again…

Dana nodded. She understood John's reasons for hesitation, for being so unsure about all of this. She heard the stories, knew, and shared her friend's pain. But the problem was, they couldn't change this, couldn't go back in time, and decide against all of this. It happened, and they were going to have a family, even if it would be hard on John, she knew they could make it. Moving her tail only the slightest she smiled, and nuzzled him a bit deeper with a heavy sigh.
"I know... But John... this time it's you and me in this together... We can make it through anything..."
She spoke, drawing back to look up at him with hopeful eyes. Things were different now, and this life didn't have to turn out the same way they had back before Dana was there with John. Now nothing would pull them apart... Even losing their own child, she'd be there for John, help him to stand, knowing he could be there if she too needed that support. Pausing the mother to be held her soft smile, as she turned her turquoise gaze to the sand.
"Don't give in... We make our own destiny, carve our own path... That doesn't have to repeat it's self... This is us... No on else... We're strong enough..."
The Shepard spoke quietly, her tone firm, and assuring. She was ready, and hoped that John would be too...
[Yea same here... But I came up with a kewl plot, for later on... Hehe... Sneaky me... >.>]

[ooc; Sneaky Dakkerz. PLOTS = LOVE. I got one too. It would happen after Faith drowns though.]
ic; A deep fear had rooted itself in the Canaan Dog. Anxiety had crept into him. He threw out the notion that he was scared, but he couldn’t deny the terror inside of him. But, even if he couldn’t deny it. He couldn’t show it either. Dana still depended on him, even moreso now that she was carrying pups. His pups. He needed to stop being such a coward. Everything would be fine…
"I know... But John... this time it's you and me in this together... We can make it through anything... Don't give in... We make our own destiny, carve our own path... That doesn't have to repeat it's self... This is us... No on else... We're strong enough...”
John turned away for a moment, even more ashamed that he was reluctant to have children, despite the fact that Dana wanted them so much. He was also guilty that no matter what she said, he would still have some panic inside of him. And he would still assume that something horrific would happen to one of their children.
[ooc again; That post sucked horribly. –keels over- ;_;]

Dana watched John quietly, biting her lip to keep from saying anything else. Words at this point were useless. And as of now, she felt a little... distant and cold, not looking to help comfort now, knowing this wasn't something she could fix, something she could say would be alright, because she didn't know that it would be, and the truth was it would be worse then she imagined. Denial would soon follow the parents, after their children were born, but for now they knew nothing of this, and couldn't stop, nor control it.
The Shepard sighed, and looked down, before stepping back, and settling herself back into the sand. She sat there, thinking without a word, as the wind blew the scents of the water to her, wrapping her pelt around her in the breeze. There were no lies here, nothing to say to make him believe in something that wasn't true. Yes she was afraid too, but wasn't scared for their children. Yes, john now, more so, as he had experienced this pain. Either way... Dana still tried not to let this hurt her, as nothing she did would make a difference, the pups were going to come, no matter what the father felt.
"John... I wish there was some way I could change your mind... but even I can't do that..."
She spoke firmly, feeling as the wind shifted, so that it blew against her back, drawing her bangs in front of her eyes, and back again. The Shepard stayed silent, staring at John. She refused to speak, to cry to worry herself over this, she wasn't trying to be mean in this way, but to simply protect herself... If she didn't try so hard, Dana was sure she'd break under the pressure... Fear, anxiety, concern for John, worry for herself... It was all a burden she carried, but held it strong.
[Okay, I like the emotion in this post, but think i could have taken it much farther... *nods*]
