The wind blew softly making a few leaves float gently to the ground. A timber wolf walked slowly, her paws treading lightly on the ground, Akree looked straight at the earth beneath her paws, wearing a blank expression, lost deep in thought. She heard a flap of wings and lifted her head to see a large crow land on the small bush a few yards away from her. She looked quizzically at the crow and a low grunt left her mouth, the crow cawed loudly, stretching its black wings. She soon grew tired of the bird that had crossed her path and growled menacingly and approached the crow, in order to scare it away, but the crow wouldn't move. Now she was mad she jumped toward the bush her swift movements making it easy to force the crow against the ground. In a futile effort the crow tried to free itself, but to no avail, it soon stopped moving and Akree lifted her paw so the crow could fly away. Another animal would have probably killed it, but she wasn't hungry and she saw no reason to kill it. She lifted her head slowly to see the crow fade away into the sky...

Orin had been having quite a rotten day as he tromped down the path. He'd caught no food and he was already getting quite irritable. Not that he was very welcoming to begin with. Off in the distance Orin could here the the caw off a crow. Maybe now was his chance to catch a bite to eat, well after a little fun that is. To his surprise he found that another wolf already had the pest in it's grasp.
Orin watched the whole scene from afar hoping he'd get a show. It wasn't often he could just sit back and watch another creature kill another. To his annoyance the young wolf, however, let the black feathered nuisance go. Females, Orin thought coldly to himself. Quietly Orin crept over to where the dark wolf remained. She was quite a ways bigger than he was but it did not sway him in the least.
"Why'd you let that thing get away? Couldn't you have at least given it something to remember you by?" He growled out of the blue. He was an honest wolf and as such hardly kept his opinions to himself. Without a care about how the other wolf would react Orin padded in front of her, flashing a broad toothy smile. "Name's Orin. I don't believe I've seen you around before," he said layering his words with mock politeness.

Akree watched the crow fly away in a flurry of feathers and perked her ears as she heard a wolf growl "Why'd you let that thing get away? Couldn't you have at least given it something to remember you by?". She turned her head slightly amazed that she didn't notice another wolf get so close to her. The brown male smiled showing his teeth "Name's Orin. I don't believe I've seen you around before". Was he trying to mock her? she scoffed. Males, she thought. She looked at the wolf hard and said simply in a mocking tone "The crow will remember me by anyway, after all it isn't an easy task capturing a bird, besides I didn't see any reason why I should hurt it?".
She circled the male, looking at him and stopped in front of him and smiled "No, I don't think you have seen me "around" before". (sorry I took so long)

"I see..."Orin added his body tense. He hadn't wanted to rouse a fight. Damn, why can't I just keep those kind of thoughts to myself, Orin chided himself inwardly. He decided it'd be best to not talk about the issue of seeing each other before. It seemed like a touchy subject. He didn't really think to much about it since he was a loner anyway. It was time to return to his first inquiry.
"Well, anyway about this crow...I never meant to offend. It was only a simple question. You say you see no reason to hurt the bird? Well, I've got one good reason." He grinned slyly taking a dramatic pause. "It's fun. I'll show you." The last bit he added hurriedly as his keen ears picked up the sounds of life just off to the side.
With a leap he landed hard on a squirrel's tail that had been enjoying his nut in a nearby bush. The poor creature let out a squeak of pain. Smirking Orin picked up the rodent by it's now sore tail and turned to face the still unknown female. On his muzzle was a smirk.
He put the squirrel down pressing a paw down up upon it's back preventing it from running away. "Now honestly tell me you wouldn't enjoys this. Look at it. You have complete power to make it suffer any way you wish. It's that feeling that makes it fun." Orin pressed harder on the squirrels spine causing it to let out another squeak of pain as it back let out a crack. All Orin could do was chuckle. This was one of the few things he lived for. In his eyes was a flash of pure pleasure. It was the feeling of control.

Thew female wolf watched as the small brown male positioned his paw over the squirrel's back and heard it crack, she emitted a low growl and shook her head. The squirrel was now very still. She flicked her tail and lifted her head, the male didn't want to pick a fight or so it seemed, if not it wouldn't have tried to explain himself. She looked at the scenery around her and yawned. She walked toward the male, head held high and stopped in front of him and lowered her head, looking at the male "You kill smaller animals for your pleasure...I'm bigger than you..." she growled, then smiled and left the male to use his head.
She turned around and took one, two, three, four, five steps away from the male and then stopped and sat down, head low so she could look at the male. She waited patiently for the wolf, Orin, to ponder over what she said. Leaves fell slowly to the ground as a small squirrel watched in horror at the scene below. Akree lifted her and caught a glimpse of the small squirrel. She lowered her head, muttering something under her breath that only she heard."The name's Akree" she said in the in the same smile and mocking tone that Orin had used to introduce himself before.

Orin growled at her threatening tone. What'd he ever do to her. Even so the growl was more out of frustation than anger. He was used to by now the ways others thought of him for his "strange" habits. Luckily he kind of enjoyed the dact that others found him strange.
Orin was also slighlty put off by her calling him small. Just another one of his peeves.I'm not that small you're the big one, he thought defensively to himself. "Hmph, it's not all that bad. I don't just kill for the fun of it I do it because I'm a wolf and I have to eat some time don't I? Now if I wish to get food however I please then so be it. I wouldn't judge you for your habits. I assure you that."
Orin picked up the squirrel and trotted over to the young she wolf Akree. "I really do hope we can put that little disagreement behind us, Akree. There's no reason for you to be so cross," after a few moments to think and reposition the squirrel in his mouth Orin added, "And I'm not that small. Don't you have any respect for your elders? Not that I'm old or anything. You don't see me calling you a freakish giant." He flicked his tail hoping she could take a joke. Besides it was better to make friends than enemies. Wasn't it?

Akree sat there, opened mouth for a few seconds, after a while she shook her head and smiled at the wolf, she felt like bursting in laughter. She flicked her tail playfully and said "Well I may be big, but I don't have a problem with my height", she smiled again. She stood on her four and lowered her head to Orin's height, something about that felt funny and as much as she tried she began to laugh. She backed away from the male, still laughing and shook herself. Now she had calmed down, she looked at the wolf and said teasingly "To each his/her own right" and smiled.

(sorry that it took me so long to post it's a busy season)
"A problem with my height? Oh now that's a low blow." Orin said with a grin. Akree's own laughter made him want to laugh. He laughed quietly to himself. If he were to laugh fully he might seem even weirder than Akree already thought him to be. "I guess you're right though." Orin turned his head to look at the sky. There were still many hours left in the day which meant still more hours to find ways to make a nuisance of himself. "So Akree I suppose you've got no real planned route while you're here."

(no Worries ^^) "So Akree I suppose you've got no real planned route while you're here." Akree was shocked by the question Orin had asked. She thought about it for a while and sighted "No, I guess not" she said in a nostalgic manner. She looked at the ground and kicked a small rock, she lifted her head and smiled at Orin and said "Well, Orin what about you, do you have anything planned out?". She flicked her tail playfully and looked around, nothing new. She looked at Orin waiting for an answer.

"Me? Well, no..not really. I was born by Hallow and I've been traveling on my own for a whle now. I did hace companions but..." his words trailed and came to a complete stop. His sisters. What could have become of them, but that was old news. Returning his attention to Akree he brushed it off. "But that's no matter now. I get along fine on my own."
Orin knew that was only partly true. He did miss his siblings but what could he do now? They were long gone by now probably by now anyway. The only real sign that his thoughts were troubling was the slight drop of his tail. I should just forget the past and get on with my life, he growled in his mind sternly, There's no changing it now.

Akree lifted her head and sat down under the tree, the sun rode high in the sky, a few birds passed by. "Oh, you had companions?", she inquired as curiosity got the best of her. She lowered her ears, hoping Orin wouldn't get sadder. "Sorry, you don't have to answer that". She looked at her side as a small hare sprinted away. She stood up again and shook herself. She had never had traveled with anyone and wondered what it was like, again she had lost herself in thought, a blank expression on her face.

Orin was taken aback by the forwardness of Akree's question. Normally loners did not care much about the lives of others. With a slight grunt he fixed his gaze to the ground.
Half-mumbling he said, "No it's quite alright. It's not really a story of much intrest. I just had two sisters. We'd always been together and a while ago we got seperated. It bothered me quite a bit at first but I'm getting over it...I guess. And you Akree? Have you always traveled one your own?"

Lost herself in thought, Akree barely heard Orin's words about his two sisters. She lifted her head in time to hear Orin say "And you Akree? Have you always traveled on your own?" she sighted and said in a low voice, murmuring to herself "Yeah, ever since I remember". She shook herself trying to rid herself of those thoughts and said "But I'm fine"and tried her best to smile. She looked around for any signs of water, she was thirsty, but gave up for she knew there wasn't any.

Orin felt a slight pang of sadness for Akree. Never knowing what it is like to travel with others by one's side? He could not think of a much worse feeling. Noticing how half-heartedly she had spoken Orin did not feel the need to question her further. Instead he heard the growl of his own stomach; remembering this squirrel he had caught. Hunting always made him feel better and took his mind off of things when he was troubled by memories. Maybe it would be the same with Akree.
"Hey, Akree, how about a bit of hunting?" Hunting always made him feel better and took his mind off of things when he was troubled by memories. Maybe it would be the same with Akree. He paused for a second. "Normal hunting." Orin added remembering how he'd dealt with the squirrel and Akree's reaction. "I know pf a good resting place not too far away."

"Hey, Akree, how about a bit of hunting?" she looked at Orin quizzically and was about to answer yes when she was interrupted by Orin's words"Normal hunting." She smiled and stood straight, towering over the older wolf "I'd love too" she smiled again and said "I'm hungry" while looking at the horizon. She took a step back, changed her footing and flicked her tail playfully. "You take the lead" she said happily.
She sprinted toward the bushes the crow had landed earlier and shook her head, still shifting her footing."Well, come on"she said a little excited that for the first time in her life she would have the chance to hunt with another wolf. She couldn't help, but smile at the thought.
