Pollux hadn't felt land under her feet that wasn't Arnlan since she had taken up the mantle of Gamma. It felt good, secretly, she had a wanderlust...something she could not shake, something that made her a fine Scout, but she was terrible at living a normal pack life.
However, she wasn't working under a mission now, in fact, she had left Arnlan, perhaps not permanently, but the lands had been barren of life, and had become such a mess that she could not deal with it falling around her paws. She needed to get out, her loyalty only went as far as her lands suited her.
She needed a breath of fresh air, she had passed her father's den, without even a nod, straight to the rocky shores of the beach, she had always found peace where the great water met the land. It was lovely.
But lonely.
For now the runaway just sighed, her breath coming out in steamy huffs as she watched the horizon, trying to figure out what she was going to do. The gravity of leaving Arnlan was nothing she had ever done before...but it seemed everyone else had done it.
The freedom felt good, and she just smiled.

(Gonna use Arnold and Ellie for this one since I don't know the fate of the RP I started with them D: It's been a while...)
Ellie lounged in the sand not feeling up to much of anything at all. He could see Arnold digging around in sand for something. Ellie knew his friend had mentioned it to him, but the lanky, brown wolf could not remember what it had been, and thinking about it made his head hurt. Ellie buried his nose in the sand and decided just to leave things be instead of asking Arnold what he was up to. It was usually better that way.
In reality, Arnold himself had no idea what he was looking for. All he knew was that he was bored. He would have hunted but his belly was full for now. Arnold stopped digging and looked up from the sandy soil. He could see Ellie wasn't going to terribly interesting anytime soon. The gray wolf could tell his friend was having one of those headaches he tended to get so bothering him wouldn't be a good idea. He walked past his friend who lifted his head slightly but made no other sign that he had noticed his friend.
Arnold scanned the beach looking for anything of interest until his eyes rested on another wolf, and one he'd never seen before on top of that. His first thought was to growl but then his nose gave him a clearer picture of this unknown wolf. It was a female and that already caught the male's interest, but she also smelled of some other scent. It smelled like many wolves and the word "pack" popped into Arnold's mind. Now, what's she doing on her own?[/in], he wondered. Intrigued, Arnold padded a little closer to the female, though still being mindful to keep his distance.
"Hey! Who're you?" Arnold asked, cocking his head to the side. "Ain't seen you around here before."

Pollux twitched her tattered ear at the direction of an upcoming sound, another wolf? Well she was pretty certain there wasn't some sort of blossoming pack out on the beachfront. But she was still weary, the smell of sea salt didn't completely dull her senses. A male, probably some sort of alpha-type.
The female turned slowly, ready for an ambush but other than being forward and pushy, it seemed the grey male didn't seem like he was here to fight.
"Hey! Who're you? Ain't seen you around here before."
"Me?" Pollux sniffed, her mismatched eyes focusing on Arnold as she stood up. "I'm Pollux." she smirked slightly, "And I'm not from around here. Now...who are you?" If he was going to be nosy, she certainly wasn't going to act any differently, especially since normally, she was usually the nosy one.

"I figured," Arnold replied, "You don't smell like salt." He felt a bit more at ease now and took a step forward. Lifting his tail slightly, he continued with confidence to match his stance. "The name's Arnold." The gray wolf flashed a wolfy grin of sharp teeth maintaining his confident pose. It was a habit of his to look like a force to be reckoned with when it cam to any and every stranger so Pollux would be no different.
Back where Arnold had come from, Ellie picked up his head completely. He'd been listening to the conversation with his sharp ears and debating whether or not to get involved. He usually stepped in as referee when Arnold picked fights. However, today his pack mate sounded civil. A rather rare occurrence. Ellie was prepared to lay his brown head back in the sand and nap until Arnold was finished doing his thing, but things rarely went according to Ellie's plans.
"And that wolf over there," Arnold gestured with his tail, "That's Ellie. Can't do nothing with him." Arnold half laughed at the comment. He was always poking fun at his friend. Ellie groaned quietly. He had just wanted to mind his own business. He was part of the conversation now. The brown wolf stood up and walked over to where the gray wolf stood.
"So nice of you to introduce me," Ellie stated in a voice hardly louder than a whisper.

The female watched Arnold's tail lift with a bit of a roll of her eyes. She was getting this feeling that she wasn't too far off about her assumptions about the male. "Pleased to meet you."
She flashed a smirk at him, and then towards the other wolf some ways back as he walked towards them. "Both of you." As she spoke Pollux started to lope around about, the snare on her paw dragging against the sand as she regarded Arnold with a bit of curiosity.
"So, how long have you boys been out here?" After all, it was her job to know, or at least it was, but old habits died hard. Besides, it was sort of funny to watch the would-be alpha and his friend. She couldn't help but make an amused noise if she wondered if the two were mates, given the way they teased one another.

(Yay! I finally got something into my head. Very exciting)
"Not very long," Arnold shrugged, taking up the role of spokesman, which quite frankly Ellie didn't mind. He prefered to sit back and listen anyway so he slumped down onto his haunches, though keeping alert in case Arnold said something particularly stupd. It happed from time to time and the lanky, brown wolf had often had to drag his pack mate away from a potential scuffle. "We don't have land of our own exactly..."
"Try at all," Ellie mumbled under his breath, trying not to roll his yellow eyes. Arnold snorted dismissively. He'd deal with his friend later. Ellie just shook his brown head slightly, with a small grin. Like he'd never see Arnold's wrath before.
"We're working on it. But anyway," Arnold continued, though taking a moment to throw Ellie a displeased look, "What're you doing here? You smell more like forest than beach." The gray wolf eyed Pollux with a hint of suspiscion. Arnold glanced quickly at the snare on her paw but didn't press the matter. He had promised to be civil but it didn't mean he couldn't be curious. "Ya smell like that pack o' wolves I've seen about. You're kinda far away from your turf don't ya think?"

"I'm sure you'll find something...there's plenty of unclaimed territory either direction, however...I suggest leaving the turf south of Rakine Port...that was the former Geera pack..." Pollux wasn't even too sure why she was helping out what could be considered rivals, but she wasn't one to allow innocent wolves walk into their own death. "...they and their lands had died out earlier this winter...to a plague." She lifted a paw and pointed into the direction of the fallen pack and then shrugged, quiet for a moment in some respect to the lost.
However, the she-wolf quickly started to grin again, "But a couple of rogue males, now that's a bit of an interesting story." She winked at Arnie and then flashed a toothy smile at Ellie, as she circled, her tail tall and wagging slightly as she listened to the gray and his questions, he was right to be suspicious towards her. Most wolves in her position would have cut them down, or attempted such. But her situation was currently different than a normal scout. She was at an impasse between loyalty to her pack, and the tiredness that she had been experiencing.
"What're you doing here? You smell more like forest than beach. Ya smell like that pack o' wolves I've seen about. You're kinda far away from your turf don't ya think?"
"I suppose I'm a bit far from home, yes. You could say that." There was a flippancy to her voice as she finally stretched out and flopped down on her side in the sand. She didn't appear too concerned about these old males, they were no threat towards her. "I'm in a unique position you see. I left without asking, and now..."
Well she wouldn't say, exactly what would happen. Perhaps she would be hunted down and killed, or perhaps, they would just forget about her. Or think she had died of old age, maybe even then she had thrown herself into the river and had done herself in. Pollux snorted in amusement at the whole ordeal and then got back up onto her feet. "I suppose it isn't really important. Now is it Arnold?"
