Winter's chill was beginning to grip the pack. Nights were longer, days were shorter, air was colder. This coldness was, however, oddly fitting. Sallin had never been a warm and welcoming pack. It was formed by its Alphess's anger, her hate for the one that cast her away. No pack made under those circumstances could ever be kind. At least, that's what most seemed to think. Perhaps the root mood of the pack couldn't change, but because one member dared to be different, there was kindness within.
Delicate paws pattered quietly against the hardening ground, barely making a sound on leaving prints. They were the feet of a trained spy, a being that was master of secrets and deception. Had it not been for this training, she might not have been able to keep her own secret safe. Every minute it was in danger of being found out, for her father could betray her, even if it was unlikely.
But where was she headed? It was not nighttime, so she couldn't be sneaking off to be with her beau. She wasn't going in the direction of the alpha's den either. No, she was just...walking. No destination. She wasn't doing anything in particular besides taking in the beauty of the coming winter. Frost made everything sparkle like the night sky with its many stars. A thin white powder blanketed the terrain, sealing away the harsh browns of dirt and rock. The territory was almost silent. She loved it.
A dove cooed, breaking the silence as the call echoed. Fellen looked up at the white bird and smiled. Such an oddity for a pack that was anything but peaceful. The timber's soft voice called up to the bird, sounding so similar to the bird's coo. "Are you lost, little bird?" It cooed again in response, then fluttered out of sight. Fellen let out a small sigh. Birds had never been great conversationalists.
