The grey wolf-dog looked at the village from just beyond it's borders. She paced back and forth, trying to convince herself to enter it's grounds. She could easily pass as a dog, as she had been raised by her dog father. But, she was still jumpy.
Finally, after an hour, she took the steps forward and entered the domain of humans. Her icy eyes looked around, and her hyper mood developed itself quickly. She grinned and took in her surroundings. The greek letter on her left flank shone slightly in the sun light and ruffled with the rest of her fur. It was her only distinct mark, and she loved it. Maybe, someone else would?

The sun beamed down from the heavens, a clear, bright day, but despite this, the air was still sharply cold, and Chase's paws were frozen. She'd been wandering alone, on her own, now for several months, and still had found no trace of her family. She was beginning to loose hope of ever finding them, which was a serious thing for the dog who always was one to see the bright side of everything. She pushed the discouraging thoughts from her mind as she continued through the forest. It had been several days since she'd come across any human villages, which meant that she'd not eaten well in several days. She was cold, hungry and tired, but the breeze carried the smell of a village, and she'd been traveling that direction now for a few hours. It grew stronger and stronger, until she began to hear the sounds of the town.
chase paused, her black and white pelt blowing in the breeze, her ears perked, listening to the sounds of humans' voices and the various sounds of animal life. She alway grew a bit nervous of humans since her human had locked her in tiny rooms and then tied her up and left....she couldn't trust them....but at the same time, they had the food....her tail began to wag, all her muscles quivering in shivers...yes, time to go to town-find food, a warm place to sleep-and hopefully some kind creature to talk to...she hadn't talked to anyone in a long time (3 whole days!) and it was killing her....
she started toward the boundaries of the village, when a sudden gray shape caught her attention...it was another dog! and heading toward the village! Chase abruptly altered her coarse and redirected her path toward the other canine, her tail beginning to wag uncontrollably, so much so it made her gait appear clumsy and wobbly...she didn't notice..all she saw was someone to meet, a chance to talk to someone
she barely gave the other dog, which she noticed was female as she approached, a chance to see her before she burst out in jubilant speech.
"Good day to you! Are you headed to the village?" she called out.

Lullaby looked quickly to the other dog. She appeared nice enough, and hyper. The grey hybrid smiled and said, "Yes, I am. Are you?" Her tail wagged gently, and she had to restrain herself from jumping up and down.
Hyperactiveness over took her and she started to run in circles, causing herself to grow dizzy. When she landed on the soft earth, she took a good look at the dog. She was black and white, with some brown on her face. Her eyes were brown, she was slender, but athletic looking at the same time. Lullaby couldn't help but think of a race against this new companion.
"May I ask what your name is?" Lullaby's cheesy grin took it's place upon her maw and she stood up to be somewhat level with the dog. Something about her said that they'd be friends.

This new dog seemed crazy! She was going to the village also, and seemed to get so hyper, she turned circles on herself until she fell down! Chase laughed inwardly...who would do such a silly thing? all the while, her own tail wagged so hard it was a miricle that she had not fallen onto the snow. She came to a quick stop next to the gray and black dog.
"I'm Chase. And you-what's your name?" she responded to the female's question and immediately adding her own question. Before the dog could respond, chase threw in yet another question. "Do you know this village? Can we get food there?" she asked, tail still wagging uncontrollably.

Lullaby smiled at how obvious the other dog was amused with her. That meant she liked her already. Her blues eyes shone brightly, and she shook her head to calm down. I might want to relax a little for now. Don't want her to get freaked out she thought.
She nodded and replied, "I'm Lullaby. " The quickness of her response to her question made Lullaby smile. Usually, she had to ask them to repeat it because her mind was running so fast.
"Yeah. I was raised here for a while. You can get food here. The people are usually nice."

At the mention of humans, Chase's tail abruptly stopped its wagging and fell still, dropping down even with her hind legs...surley the only way to eat around this village was not begging from humans...a look of slight dissapointment creeped into her features. She glanced out towards the village...she could hear the voices of the humans going about their day...
A rare hint of fear tried to creep into her mind-she snapped to her scenses and pushed it aside....she needed to eat more than she needed to worry about her past experiences with humans...she could worry about that after her belly was full.
She looked over to Lullaby. "Food sounds really great right now. I haven't eaten in a few days. Could you show me where I could find some? Maybe without human help?" she threw in, hoping she didn't sound like a whimp.

Lullaby's face changed expression with Chase's. What had happened to her to cause her fear of humans? Well, none the less, she knew how to get food without begging. She scanned the area as she remembered it, and remembered where some humans dumped food that they didn't eat, and it was perfectly good. Humans wasted so much!
She nodded. "Yeah. I know just the spot. Come on." Slowly, she started walking towards the village, checking to make sure that Chase was coming and alright.

Chase saw Lullaby's expression change....dangit...she thought-the other had caught onto her hesitation...she didn't want to bring it up, not yet....now she was just concerned about finding food.
she was very greatful when Lullaby mentioned knowing a spot that was not involving humans to get food, and her expression brightened. The gray and black dog turned and walked toward the village, looking back to make sure Chase was following. Chase's tail began to wag again as she eagerly followed Lullaby into the village.

Lullaby smiled and walked a little quicker as they reached the village. She looked around for things and places she remembered, finding the marked building that lead to the ally where the family dumped food. "Come on, Chase! I found it!" Her tail wagged and she jogged towards the allyway.
At the end of the ally, she stopped and sniffed around, and found the hole in the wall where the humans had dropped food. Grinning, she pulled it out so that Chase and she could eat. Then she sat down, tail wagging, tounge out, and smiled in satisfaction.

Chase followed close behind the black and gray dog, tail and head down, trying to appear as small as possible so as to be not as noticable. Lullaby paused to look around once inside the village, before obviously stotting her target and moving on. Chase followed her to an alley where the dog went to a hole in an old building and pulled out something that had scraps of leftover food on it.
The smells were all together wonderful and pungent, but Chase was too hungry to notice the unplesant smells. She eagerly trotted over to the find and sniffed it, taking a piece of what appeared to be fish, and gobbled it down. She was still hungry, but politely waited for Lullaby to take the next selection.
"Thanks for showing me this," she added.

(sorry this took so long. school and all)
Lullaby smiled at Shanda, and took a piece of scrap cow meat. She chewed it slowly to make it last, and savored the sweet taste of it. Finally, she swallowed the meat, and panted.
"You're welcome, Shanda!" Her tail wagged and she grin at her new aquaintance. " I can't believe how much humans waste, can you? It's pitiful."
