No one wants you around Amelia, everyone will loathe you.. Just like our Master loathed you. You'll be alone forever, can't you see that?
The voice whispers in her ear like a whisper on the wind. The pink colored poodle wanders across the sands of the beach, slowly, looking for something, anything to occupy her mind and make the voice silent. Her sensitive ears turn to the direction of the white crests of the ocean's waves crashing against the shore. Hoping the sounds would over power the voice echoing in her ear. Oh how she longed for a moment of silence, without her guilt constantly knocking her down. Remembering each passing day of her sin that darkened her soul.
Though she desperately tried to ignore it, tried to set aside her memories and just start over. A clean start, a new lease on life. It almost seemed like a dream, maybe it was.
She pressed her paw left front paw into the sand, watching the small grains bend to her force, her mind contemplating this meaning. How she was able to direct the course of the sand, just by adding her own force of will, maybe this was like her fate in a way, maybe she could change it with just the simple force of her will. Anything is possible.
She then kept moving on, strolling the beach with contemplating smile. The voice was quiet now, she willed it away for the time being and Khalid and Murk call her useless. Ha!

It was an unusually warm winter day, though still cold, just warmer than usual. The breeze was gentle today, and the smell of the salty sea hung heavy in the air.
Shanda was just waking up in her usual sleeping spot just inside the tree line. An old fallen tree had made a nice little sheltering nook, just big enough for her to curl up in and stay warm. Shanda had begun to enjoy being on the beach. At first it was lonely, but steadily, wandering creatures had found their way here, giving her brief moments of company. The loners life had gotten old, and she was beginning to get more curious about the world beyond the beach as each day passed. Her fear was slowly fading, her confidence growing. Soon, she would try and see what lay beyond the tree line to the south.
Shanda crawled out of her cubby and stretched her large frame...her large black paws digging into the soft sandy earth. She shook the sand and debris from her pelt when suddenly, a new smell arrived on the breeze....
Shanda's ears perked and she slowly made her way to the edge of the tree line, peering out from behind a large clump of salt grass, trying to find the source of the strange smell.
At first she couldn't see anything, but then a strange colored movement caught her eye. her head jerked around, the shaggy clump of black fluff falling in her eyes. What on Earth was THAT!
Shanda couldn't make heads or tails of the strange creature she saw standing by the sea's edge. It was pink in color and was so small and dainty. It was some sort of dog, but Shanda had never seen anything like it in her life. She strangely felt no fear, and a huge amount of curiosity. She slowly and quietly made her way out onto the beach, staying close to the tree line, and headed in the general direction of the strange creature.
As she got closer, she was able to confirm that it was in fact, a dog, a female. A small, petite little thing. What was she doing here? A dog like that belonged with humans, for she was not built well to survive the harsh winters, nor could Shanda see how a thing like that could hunt.
The female seemed to be enjoying the nice breeze off the sea. Shanda decided it was probably safe to make her presence known. She cleared her throat as to make some noise to alert the other of her presence.
"Hello? she called out.

Amelia jumps a bit being slightly startled and turns herself around too look at the massive canine. She blinks a few times and bows her head slightly in greeting. "Bonjour." She paws her way over to Shanda, each step was taken with confidence and most importantly without fear. She carried herself with a regal and noble quality, rather than dainty and prissy.
Amelia found herself curious about the stranger, not sure what to make of her. In fact, Amelia never seen a creature quite like her. Then again it's not like Amelia ever saw a wolf before or even knew what a wolf was. Ignorance was bliss in her case. She stops in front of Shanda, only a pace away from her. Her bright green eyes looking over Shanda, measuring her status and physique. "May I help you?" Her french accent floating from her maw in almost a melodious manner.

Shanda had startled her, but the pink female quickly recovered and showed her greeting. "Bonjour."
Shanda had no idea as to the meaning of the strange word, but it came with the female's gestures of greeting, so she assumed it was a related word. She watched as the female turned and came her way. She carried herself with such pride and confidence, and showed no fear. Shanda secretly wished she had that much confidence. She was normally the biggest coward around when it came to meeting new creatures. The pink female stopped but a few feet from her as she examined Shanda.
Shanda felt a little uncomfortable with the bold move of the other, but stood her ground while showing no hostility or as little apprehension as possible.
"May I help you?" The female had a thick accent that Shanda had never heard before in all her travels. This one had to be lost, Shanda thought.
"I was about to ask the same," she said with a smile. She was so curious as to where this dog came from but didn't know how to ask without prying in the other's business.
"I don't see many new faces here on the beach, and the few I have met have been wandering travelers. I was just curious as to what brings you to this quiet beach?"

"Serenity. The sounds of the oceans waves crashing against the shore." Or maybe she was here to find her old Master, so she could kill him for what he had done to her. Her thoughts might have been dark, but Amelia's smile was gentle and sweet.
Far to often, creatures have underestimated her, she wondered if this one would do the same. “You assume that I am not a traveler.” She lifted an eyebrow. “ Yet I am foreign to this place and I have no master.” A smirk drifted cross her muzzle. “ That would make me a traveler, no?” The high class snobbish attitude showing through. She truly didn't believe she was better then anyone else, though she couldn't lack confidence or attitude for anyone. It was park of the grand show, that she was constantly preforming.

Shanda didn't quite know how to respond to the strange dog before her. Her expression was not in any way angry or offended, but her tone was questioning, with a faint hint of attitude, though Shanda could have been imagining things for the female's thick, foreign accent. She found herself a bit intimidated, but then again, it didn't take much for that to happen. She forced herself to smile, as she sat down on the cool sand.
She nodded to the female. "Yes, I guess you would be. One never knows what they may find or who they may meet in lonely places like this beach. I'm always curious about the ones I meet here, to find out what is beyond these white sand beaches. My name is Shanda, by the way," rambled, hoping the female was not offended by her first comment.
[sorry for the crappiness and shortness of the post-I'm at work and brain dead at the moment....]

"Amelia." After watching Shanda seat herself, Amelia did the same. The other female didn't seem hostile or objective to Amelia's presence. "What's beyond these beaches are other beaches. Other towns and villages. Roads and streets made of concrete or stone. All places have green grass and leafy trees. Across these waters there are more ports and people."
Her bright green eyes pierce Shanda, a hidden wisdom lied beneath the prissy facade. "All the world is different, but in the long run it's all the same. You are curious, yet you lack the conviction or courage to see what lies beyond it, am I correct?"
Amelia was analyzing Shanda, finding out whether or not the female held some sort of interest. This poodle didn't care if she offended someone, if they were easily offended then they weren't worth her time. That didn't mean she went out of her way to purposely to offend some one, that would just be rude, but if they couldn't handle a simple conversation of obvious truths, then it would be futile to continue on any further. However even though pleasant folk were all nice and good, if they didn't uphold some sort of interesting quality, Amelia grouped them with the easily offended.. worthless. Character was important, passion and drive. What it was that made some one who they are... One of the many reasons that made Amelia nuttier then a Christmas fruitcake.
(No worries.. my post haven't been the greatest either.)

"All the world is different, but in the long run it's all the same. You are curious, yet you lack the conviction or courage to see what lies beyond it, am I correct?"
The words hit her like a brick upside the head. Amelia hit the nail on the head concerning Shanda's pathetic lack of courage. Her ears swiveled to the side, a look of embarrassment and shame on her face, which she tried her best to hide, without success. There was no point in trying to deny Amelia's comment. The strange dog seemed to have great wisdom, or else Shanda was just that transparent. A heavy sigh escaped her maw as she looked back into the green eyes of the other.
"Aye, you speak with wisdom. My travels up to arriving at this beach have been filled with pain and sorrows. This is the first place I have been in a while that those two things have not found me. It is a lonely place, but one where I can exist in peace. Curious, yes, of the world beyond, but afraid of the pain that's sure to come if I venture to far...." her voice was soft, laden with shame.
"Tis something that is a goal of mine to overcome, however, just is taking a bit...." her gaze wandered slightly, falling to the rolling sea.
She was glad Amelia had made the comment. It made her really realize how pathetic her fear was, and just how much harder she needed to work on changing it. What other wisdoms did this stranger traveler hold?

She listened to the female carefully, watching her expressions, picking up on her emotions and seeing what lies in them. She smiled softly at Shanda, there was nothing to be ashamed of, but she admitted to pain and sorrow, which kept Amelia interested.
"Pain and sorrow is the price for inner peace and happiness. Always has been and always will be. To be isolated and alone to shield yourself from pain is only making you grow weaker to it. So to over come pain and sorrow one must expose themselves to it, allowing their heart to become either stronger or more jaded. In other words...." She pauses smirking a bit. "unless you bite the bullet and take a risk, you will always lack the courage and conviction to do as you dream."

Shanda carefully listened to Amelia's words. She sensed such a strong air of wisdom about her. Never had she met anyone who'd taken the time to give her such an important message. She took every word to heart. At the same time, so much wisdom must have come from experience, and Shanda wondered what the strange dog had been through to teach her such valuable lessons.
I truly thank you for your words. Your honesty on the subject is so greatly appreciated. No one has ever talked to me as you have, and I thank you," Shanda replied.
Shanda sat down on the white sand, making herself comfortable.
"You sound as if you have done much traveling. How did you come to this region? I mean no offense, but I've never seen a dog such as you." Shanda hoped she hadn't offended Amelia with the question, but she was curious to learn a little more about her new acquaintance.
[oohh the suckyness....sorry!!! I'm having such terrible brainfart! I'll try harder!!!lol]

She chuckled at the females enthusiasm to do right by Amelia. How quaint. Her green eyes glittered and sparkled with her amusement in the lass. "No need to thank me." She adjusted herself on the sand.
"You worry of offending me, don't. I don't become offended easily, especially from curiosity. " She gave Shanda a re-assuring smile and canting her head to the side. "I have done much traveling, coming to this region was a bit of a tragedy though. There was shipwreck and I lost my Master." Her words were so believable, made perfect sense. However to bad it was a lie, a lie Amelia had been telling herself. "But I don't dwell on it, only have to move on, learn a new life style and adapt. "

Shanda felt bad for Amelia upon hearing the tragedy on her journey here. Her expression softened into one of comfort and sadness at hearing the news.
"I'm sorry for your loss, " she replied.
She was glad she had not offended the dog with her questions. She felt strangely comfortable around Amelia. She was a creature Shanda felt she could learn from, and she wasn't afraid or ashamed to learn from strange creatures. Shanda liked Amelia's straight forwardness-it was a welcome change to those she'd met in her own travels, who'd tell you only what you wanted to hear, all the while lying to your face. That was one of the reasons she'd left her human and village-she couldn't stand the lying, backstabbing dogs who lived there any more.
she shook herself from her thoughts.
"But I don't dwell on it, only have to move on, learn a new life style and adapt. "
Another line of great wisdom....a lesson she'd be wise to learn.

She shrugs and smiles. "My Master and I weren't the closest, he barely even noticed I existed. So when we were separated because of the shipwreck it wasn't such a loss." Amelia didn't seem so sad by the idea, he was gone and she had her freedom. No more crates and cages, no more nights waiting for his return. She was able to be who she wanted to be.
"Now Shanda, what can you tell me of this place?" Maybe Shanda would shed some light on the area, Khalid and Murk weren't that informative.. Males.. Can't live with them, can't kill them.

"Now Shanda, what can you tell me of this place?"
Shanda was grateful that Amelia had changed the subject. It was awkward to talk of one's painful past, especially if you were trying to move on. Shanda thought about how to answer Amelia's question. There was not much to report, as this place was fairly quiet, but she'd not explored it all as of yet.
"Well, I have only been here but a few weeks, and mainly it is very quiet. In the time I've been here, you are only the third creature I have come across. These lands belong to no one that I know of, so most who pass through are travelers. it is a nice place to find peace and quiet."
"I have not explored it all, sticking mainly to this north end of the beach. I haven't gone south-when the wind blows just right, it carries with it the smell of humans, so I assume there is a village that way. Food can be scarce, and the small crabs make for quick snacks, and fresh water can be found further inland in puddles and small streams."
She paused and considered if there was anything she had forgotten that Amelia might find of interest, but there was nothing. She was now sorry that she hadn't explored more, a problem that she would soon remedy.
[lost my response half way through to a computer glitch-sorry if it sounds a bit random-i cannot remember what I had typed!]

She nods and rises to her feet, stretching her front paws and back, a long yawn as she stretched. Then when all done, she stood as tall and proud as she could. "Well, things can't be explored if you just sit around." She chuckled and looked from side to side. Her green eyes briefly gazed at the ocean before looking back at Shanda. Amelia was at peace.
"Lead the way and I shall follow, I want to see what I can of what you have already ventured before I go even further."
Amelia wanted to know everything about this place, every scent and detail. She wanted to know who was where and how many. She was taking head counts, human and other creatures.
