*Paradigh smiled meekly at her poor boy. He really was petrified, wasn’t he? How could this be? When the wheat colored fluff ball hunkered down to her level. She looked him square in his big blue eyes*
Hon, they ain’t got no reason to come after ya! Think this out, boy.
*She actually laid down there on the sidewalk next to her friend. Her tail sweeping very gently across the cobblestone*
First of all, yas with an old lady. Ain’t no one who can say a natural born killer makes company with the elderly. Secondly, ain’t no trouble for you to get into is there? I know very well you’s ain’t here to make a ruckas or anything of the sort. And they’s got no reason either. Shore, yous a little rough around the edges, but you’s ain’t done nuttin here!
*Paradigh then took her scruffy little head and placed it on his paw. Her bat like ears got in his range of vision, so she pinned them back a little, her gold eyes shining with a soft, sweet smile*
And lastly, sonny, you’s here to make a new start, ain’t ya?
((I love Paradigh, but her grammer hurts my ears!))

It seemed beliveable that the old female was right, she did have years of experience...and he, well he had lived somewhat of a sheltered life, more or less. Perhaps she was correct in saying that he wasn't endangered here...but still. HE wasn't going to be any somewhat comfortable with the situation.
With a huff he sat down and peered at the situation more clearly. Lifting his head up a little bolder...his nose quivering as he took in the scents and sounds.
He wasn't scared. And he was going to prove that. Well until someone clanged a pot while they emptyed it. The noise made him jump and crouch back down.

*Paradigh only jumped when her ward jumped. Boy howdy, was he a case! The old girl felt a deep compassion for him though, and her big gold eyes told him that. With a little smile, the grey mutt once again leaned down to look into his eyes*
Come now, Sonny, no need to fear! Paradigh’s here, she’ll watch over ya! But…
*The mutt sat down, her scruffy face now looked quizzical. She HAD to get Chancy used to people. Only then would he be comfortable. Making him HAPPY with people…well…it was obvious that would take longer. Paradigh thoughtfully scratched her pendant while she pondered. It wasn’t until a shrill, happy sound did she know what to do. With a look of hope on her face, Paradigh looked up to see two neighborhood children playing on the sidewalk. What better way to show him acceptance! Her face softened again as she looked at Chancy*
Now, hon, I’ll show ya what ya’s missin’!
*With a yip, the old mutt announced herself as she trotted up to the kids. Imeditaly recognizing her, they squeeled and ran to meet her. Through her laughter as they tickled her, she called out*
Come on, Chancy!

He...well he liked human pups. Chauncy had never considered them as threatening as the larger humans that chased him away from their pups. He didn't blame them for that. The blonde dog was sorely tempted to join the older lady. He barked, hoping that he wouldn't have to leave his safeer spot.
But he knew he had to go over there, with a playful woofle, the big old pit fighter leapt over to Paradigh and the human pups, making impatient whines and trying to wag his tail.
Though happy he only looked at the gray mutt as they itched him and informed her though a smile "Their mother is gonna geeeet me." he wshipered through his teeth, still putting on a happy face for the human pups

*Paradigh smiled long and wide as her new friend came over. The big lumbering ouf was such a doll! Apparently the kids thought so too, seeing that their affection for him was just as grand. The old lady flipped over and let the kids rub her scruffy belly. She laughed at Chancy’s hesitations*
No they ain’t, Chancy. You ain’t done nuttin wrong!
*With some aiming effort, the grey mutt took her brush tail and whapped it gently against the pits face. The kids got a kick out of this, and jokingly pinned her tail down*
((Short, but I’m desperate for a post for her!))

The small children seemed to like smothering Chauncy, and for being as fierce looking as he was, the pit just allowed them to drape over him as they would. Almost making him fall over with their over zealous affection.
"You sure?" He snorted at one of the human pups when they had gotten a little too rough. And then licked it to make sure it stayed nice. "They're awfully protective of their pups..."
He sneezed as Paradigh's tail brushed his nose, and the little human pups laughed. Chauncy just barked.

Naw, boy, no worries! Now if only I could…
*The old lady wriggled under the layer of children she had over her. Finally with one last ‘off’, Paradigh freed herself from the ‘veritable cornucopia of love’. She yapped a couple more times, pretending to scold the over affectionate children, but then sat and waited for her fluffy friend*
In fact, hon, I think it’s about lunchtime, don’t ya? Now, who’s turn today…AHHA!
*The scruffy mutt trotted a few door down to a well build little cottage. She nosed her way through the gate, almost getting her earing caught in the woodwork, and waited on the front porch. As though just realizing she had left her new friend behind, she laugh and looked over her shoulder*
Come on, Chauncy, come get yourself somtin’ to eat…ya needs some more stuffin’ in ya!
