There were few things to keep Viernes out of trouble, and with Sparky gone tending to his sick human boy, there was nothing to. The tall lanky Saluki cross walked through the village like a she owned the place. She was cocky, she was confident and strong...rare behavior for a sight hound female. She laughed as some children ran by her chasing balls and playing. Her idleness was bound to give birth to bad ideas soon enough.
The female smirked and leapt up on the woodpile shed, looking in the windows of the people doing things, they were interesting but not exciting, she jumped down and continued, singing as she went, the lyrics to the music however were foreign...Spanish in origin.
Every so often a human would shoo the stray away, scolding her, but what was a girl to do? She liked the attention, she laughed at the humans with their broomed and kept sticking her nose in other people's business.

"Get away! Shoo!"
A woman's voice and a sound of a broom being smacked against the ground meant one thing for Jourdan. Someone was getting his treatment. Being a wolf in a village full of humans and dogs, it took a while for him to fit in. Though he tried his best to behave dog-like, no one was fooled. He didn't have many friends at all in either species. A few of the human children would play with him sometimes...at least, that is, until their mothers came out with brooms and rushed him away. It happened quite frequently, so the Red Wolf was surprised when he didn't see anyone rushing at him after hearing the shouts.
Glancing around, he saw a tall female laughing as an older woman smacked the broom against the ground again.
"You heard me! Shoo!"
Jourdan watched curiously and the female trotted away from the human, still giggling to herself and singing a tune. He couldn't make out any of the words. They weren't in any language he recongnized.
She was tall, as tall has he was, and almost lanky but not quite. He walked over to her to say hi and for the first time didn't have to look down on someone to see into there eyes. It was a nice change.
"Er...hello. My name's Jourdan...and you are?" He spoke the words slowly, hoping that she could understand him even though her song was in a foreign tongue.

It was true that the female liked to play games with the humans, once or twice she had even taken the brooms from the humans hands, but currently, today was not one of those days.
Viernes had hardly noticed the male immediately, which wasn't his fault, she hadn't the best sight during the day, she looked over with her pale eyes and smiled. "Hola." Though there was a glint to her eyes that proved that she understood him...she was playing with him too. She wagged her fringed tail casually and kept walking, a coy smile on her face.
"Hourdan?" She winked, her accent took her 'jay' sound very roughly. "I am, Viernes."

"Yeah. Nice to meet you, Viernes." Now that he knew she spoke his language, he felt a little more comfortable.
The Saluki wagged her tail and kept walking, leaving Jourdan sitting where he was. The wolf jumped up to follow her. She didn't seem to reject him, and he wasn't going to take that forgranted.
"So," he said, smiling as charmingly as he could, "are you new here? I don't think I've seen you before." He waited for her to respond, and knew she would. She would probably fall head over heals for him, too. Why wouldn't she. In Jourdan's mind, he was the greatest. She wouldn't be the first to lose her heart to him. Poor females. They just couldn't get enough of him. Oh sure, no one actually showed it, but he was certain that every female in the village was absolutely smitten with him. Normally he didn't like to choose favorites, but since Viernes hadn't ignored him completely, the others would just have to wait.

"Not new...no, I live outside of town." Viernes smirked, from one cocky individual to another, she could smell her own. It made it hard to take him seriously, because well...she never dared to take herself seriously..."Are you?"
As the two moved, the saluki kept a keen alertness to their surroundings, she never did know when some broom wielding psycho was gonna barge out and scold her. It wasn't like she wanted their garbage...what was their problem?
"Don't see wolves in town very often...what's the special occasion?" She laughed, wondering how he got into the dog town so safely. Or perhaps, that's why he was trailing her? To keep him safe.

"I'm part of the pack, here," Jourdan said proudly. He lifted his head a little higher and smilled. "And, no, I'm not new. Not very new anyway. I came here a few months ago." The wolf figgured he'd leave out his embaracing first encounter with the blind alpha. There was no need to get into dirty details about how he always seemed to loose his composure when someone...different came along.
"You live outside town, huh?" he asked, quickly changing the subject. "So you're used to these weird humans. I don't like the older ones, myself. Particularly the women. The human-pups, though, they're all right." At that moment, as if summoned, a little girl who Jourdan was quite familiar with ran out of one of the houses. She carried a small piece of meat with her and layed it down in front of him. The girl giggled as Jourdan licked her face playfully and nuzzled under her chin. The moment was cut short when the girls mother ran out with a broom.
Jourdan grabbed the meat and ran, leaving the girl to protest loudly at her mothers actions. When they were safetly away, the wolf looked again at Viernes.
"One trick I've learned here," he said, laying the meat on the ground. "You treat the little ones nicely, you get free food. Want some?"

She shook her head, she didn't except food from humans she didn't know, a survival trait. "Sometimes the humans poison it." Viernes wasn't a paranoid dog, but she erred on the side of caution, originally, she had traveled the sea faring way...and that had been the norm from port to port.
Viernes strolled along, pausing at every noise, as though wondering what it could be, "Si, I live outside of town, for now, Sparky has been bringing me food that his owner gives him" Oh yes, she said owner, with a bit of venom, she wasn't owned, she didn't belong in a pack, or was kept by a human, she was free...and would die trying to stay that way.

"Poison?" asked Jourdan after he scarfed down the meat. "Why would they poison me?"
Looking up, Jourdan saw Viernes walking away from him...again. He trotted up to her and droped his pace even to hers.
"...Sparky has been bringing me food that his owner gives him"
The Saluki had said 'owner' as if it gaver her a foul taste in her mouth. Jourdan looked at her, wondering if Viernes had a bad backstory to this. What made her hate the humans so? Given, Jourdan didn't much like the idea of being owned, but he wondered if the reasoning went deeper for his new companion.
The red wolf decided to change the subject.
"So...this Sparky. I don't know him. He a friend of yours?"

((Its cool ^^))
"To get rid of unwanted pests, dogs and other animals that dig in the trash, cause trouble...get in the way, an unowned beast is an unwanted one." Viernes had no trouble replying -why- humans would poison off some strays, though she didn't sound nearly as bitter now. Her ears twitched towards the sound of the wolf following afterwards, she smiled.
"You notice many dogs here without collars? Without humans they work with?" The Alphas here were both working dogs, pets, as well as much of all Hallow was. "They all got owners, who feed them and care for them...for better or worse I guess." she shrugged, taking a moment to lap up some water from a gutterbucket.
"Si, Sparky...he's a friend of mine. Es mi amigo loco...but he's a good dog, I guess...a little strange..."

"You notice many dogs here without collars?" Jourdan had never thought about it that way. He'd never even noticed the fact that he was one of only few who lived in the village that didn't have a human companion. Was this because of somehting he did? The thought troubled him. As Viernes had said, an unowned beast in an unwanted one. Maybe being 'free' wasn't as wonderful as he once belived it to be.
Viernes continued to talk, the bitterness she once carried leaving her tone. Jourdan listened halfheartedly, trying to keep his tail from drooping. The problem of being a stray bothered him to deeply to give the other his total attention, though he did try to follow her words. The wolf became totally lost, however, when she started speaking her own language again.
"Mi amioco what?" Jourdan asked. "I still don't understand." This is going to take some getting used to, he thought to himself.

"My friend, I think he's crazy." Viernes had caught herself, by the tone of confusion in the red wolf's voice. She shook her head, and smiled, like she was laughing on the inside, "But thats life, I tend to attract crazy like its coming out of style..."
With a pause the saluki yawned, still not exactly looking directly at Jourdan, she knew where he was, but could not see him. Things were frustrating for her in the day time..."So what is it you do here?" She did not notice he had no collar, she smelled wolf, but it wouldn't have been the first time a human being had a pet wolf..."You master, what does he have you do?"

"Oh, I got ya." This Sparky sounded like an interesting fellow. If he was anything like Viernes, Jourdan would deffinately like to meet him.
The saluki paused to yawn, making Jourdan yawn as well. He continued to just walk along beside her, though she still had yet to really look at him at all. The wolf, didn't mind thought. His thoughts were on other things...
"What does my master have me do?" Jourdan asked when the question came up. "He...er..." He considered lying. It would be easier than admiting the truth. The wolf was suddenly ashamed of what he was. He had never thought of himself as anything less than amazing, but now he felt like nothing at all.
He should tell the truth. It would be wrong to lie. He paused for a moment, considering his choices.
"He doesn't make me do much of anything," Jourdan said, wanting to bite his tounge as the words escaped. I help him out here and there, but mostly I roam out here by myself. I'm not much for that slave-dog stuff."

A sly smile and Viernes quickly filled the gap between she and Jourdan, a bit close for comfort she purred. "Oh? Really? I'd very much like to meet your owner Jourdan." The Saluki teased, she had never once met a man that owned a wolf, a wolf dog sure, but wolves were just wild animals, she heard a lie in there somewhere.
She laughed, and hopped away, seeing if he would try to find this 'master' of his.

Jourdan should have seen that coming. He quickly tried too look for a way out. A way that didn't make him look like an idiot, that is.
"Er...actually, he's not here. He's a trader, see. He goes out of the village down the pass with crates of...er...stuff, and a few months later he's back with all sorts of extrodinary objects. He just left yesterday, sorry you missed him. Maybe when he gets back you could meet, though?" he added at the last second. He hoped that the 'few months later' thing would buy him time, though the look on Viernes' face made him fear that she wouldn't believe a word of it.
"So...this friend. I'd like to meet him. What do ya say?" the wolf asked quickly, trying to get the conversation away from him and his 'master'.
