The female watched as he entered. He looked so disheveled. Frowning a little, she sat down. “Chauncy… it’s not your fault we got lost. I shouldn’t have forced you into taking use back.” She sighed a little, curling her tail around her hind legs, her floppy tipped ears folding back a little. She didn’t like to see him that way.
When he settled on the colder side, so far away from her and the warmer inner area of the den she rose and closed the gap between them. Tilting her head, she glanced the pitmix over before nosing at his shoulder and then neck. “You… can come in farther. There is room for both of us… And we’ll stay warmer.” She flashed him a gentle, if shy, smile before turning and started back deeper into the windfall.
She’d glance back his way once more, hoping he’d take her up on her offer.

The awkward beast crawled in a little further after curling himself in a tight curled ball. Front paws over his muzzle. "I-I-I know...I shouldve...known...t-that there was... a storm. Y'know." The pitmix croaked from under his self made hiding place.
Chauncy lifted a large clawed paw and looked at the female before turning his attention to the blizzard. "Baw--But its pretty...isn't it?'

Maxrunn smiled as he came closer. At least he was out of the cold more. But why was she feeling so protective of him in the first place? No matter. She watched as he curled, listening to his voice and finding herself liking it.
When he lifted the paw to look outside through the small whole she turned a little and had to agree. Nodding a little, she sighed. “Yes… it is.”
After a few moments of watching the snow collecting just outside the windfall, she glanced back at him for a moment. But then she laid down next to him, her side against his own. Hiding her nose in the fur of his neck, the mutt closed her eyes. This was much warmer.

Chauncy stayed up a little longer, wearily looking peering for signs of danger, but there were none, he seemed pleased with that, and soon found himself comfortably nodding off next to the female who had seemed forward enough to use him as a pillow.
It didn't seem to bother him a bit though, as he snuggled up for a long winters nap. "S-Sleep wwell Maxrunn..." he said quietly, as to not disturb the little female.

The lost mutt slept better than she had in a very long time. And warmer as well. It was amazing how two, with their combined body heat, made a winter’s night seem friendlier. She had stayed close to him while she slept peacefully, her nose lost in his fur as she breathed steadily. When she at last awoke it was sometime in the late morning, the sun had been up for hours, though the snow had stayed.
It truly had been a storm, leaving a good three feet of snow outside their little haven of logs and dead grasses. They still had plenty of fresh air making it’s way inside, though the cold stayed outside. As she fought wakefulness she groaned a little curling closer to her furry companion, inadvertently nosing his shoulder as she did so. It was then that she realized and remembered that she wasn’t alone and lifted her aqua eyes, rather large due to her proximity to him.
But soon she was smiling slightly her ears forward a bit as she let herself yawn widely, her pink tongue curling for a moment. Then, once her mouth was relaxed once more, she continued that smile, canting her head just a bit as she looked at him. It was nice to wake up to someone being there.

It had been ages since Chauncy had slept so, well. Even at the height of the storm when the wind was howling mad through the snow shower, it had seemed safe.
The only thing that disrupted his peaceful slumber was the breaking morn, and the slivers of sunlight cresting the freshly fallen snow. He grumbled and covered his eyes with his paw, pretending that it wasn't time to wake up.
Of course, there were other factors against him and getting to sleep comfortably again, one of which being the small white female that had decided to get up, her moving around made, him wince. "Awww, j-just...five more minutes..." The pitmix groaned, thinking that she was trying to wake him up, the realization that someone else was there, made his eyes fly open.
There was that little snowflake dog from the cemetery, looking at him and smiling, Chauncy was confused to say the least...he'd have thought that she'd run as soon as the storm had ended. "G-g-good morning." He replied quietly, gazing at her in idle curiosity.

Maxrunn tilted her head slightly as he looked at her in shock. Was he surprised that she was still here? Well she was surprised about the same thing, but here she was all the same. “Yes…” She said quietly, obviously thinking something over very carefully. “It is… and good morning to you too…” At last she gave a slightly larger smile as if making up her mind.
She hadn’t moved from his side when she awoke so it was easy to do the thing she’d decided to do. Wagging her tail, she leaned her head a little closer and gave his cheek a gentle lick. Then the small mutt relaxed back once more to see what his reaction would be.

Chauncy laughed as he was wished a good morning, they survived the storm, that was pretty good wasn't it? He seemed to brighten up as he stirred more, winking the sleep out of his weary eyes. The mutt wagged his tail a little as he came to the realization that maybe he actually had made a friend. He smiled, becoming much more soothed about the whole situation.
But he wasn't quite ready for that simple sign of affection. His smile turned to surprise, and then bashfulness...dipping his head down the male made a quiet nervous giggle before slowly looking up to meet Maxrunn's eyes.

Maxrunn became a little embarrassed as well after seeing his own. But, at least he’d not looked horrified. Letting her tail continue to wag before she laid down fully, turning over onto her back, exposing her tender belly, the bit of pink where the white fur wasn’t as thick. After a moment she started to twist, scratching her back against the ground, legs flailing in the air as she did so. It was rather amusing really, but it felt good.
At last she turned over and stood up, shaking off a little before sitting down before him once more. Giving him a smile with her jaws open and pink tongue slightly hanging out, it was clear she’d gain back some of her energy. And so, she went down into play position, her rump in the air and tail wagging furiously. Yipping at him, the small female invited him to play a little.

Chauncy watched Max wiggle about playfully, it took him a moment to understand what she was getting across. She wanted to play? The pitmix hadn't played since he was a little pup...
Blinked a few times before wagging his tail, and falling on his elbows giving her a wide grin before she headed towards the freshly fallen snowfield. "Comeon!" He barked clearly and cheerfully.

It may have taken him a moment to figure it out, but once he had her eyes seemed to light up just a bit more. She’d not played in ages either, but the need was strong. And so as he headed for the snow, she barked and eagerly followed.
Once out in the thick white stuff, Maxrunn all but disappeared. Her white coat blended in nicely as she pushed her way through the snow. That gray tip on her tail and the same gray over her ear stood out the most as she peered across the top of the snow. It was not easy being short in the couple feet of snow, but oh well.
Spotting him once more she bounded his way, nearly leaping straight up in order to get over the snow. It was rather like a dog after a mouse, but clearly there were no mice. Once she had made it to his side, the young female nipped his shoulder playfully.

The little nip made the Chauncy woofle some, he wouldn't dare nip back, but he nudged the little white female before lunging into the snow muzzle first and plowing through the powdery stuff.
He laughed as he rolled around, then hopped back up, dancing around the female, hoping she'd like to play tag...
