Her hesitance made him pause, as she seemed at a loss of where to go. "Follow...f-f-follow me...its right down the creek." Chauncy gestured his head towards the north, and started to walk off.
"I'm...I'm just outside of Hallow Village...I don't...don't visit much." the male hummed as he went, not too much concern in his mind. "You, don't mind...d-do you?" Some dogs were just scared of humans afterall, he himself was a bit antsy about them.

Maxrunn was still for a few moments as the male started to walk away, into the blistering wind from the north-west. Her eyes followed his movements, her mind blank. Was this a defining moment? She often wondered that, but rarely was it in a situation as seemingly innocent as this. She was not looking off a cliff at the ravine bottom far below. She was not deciding whether to eat her only meal in days. No, this was only a decision to follow the strange male to a place of respite from the wind or to stay in the graveyard that had been her residence for the past month or more. Turning her head, her one ear turning inside out as the wind struck it, aqua eyes taking in the dismal cemetery. Then the young, lonely, female looked back at him and started forward.
She was quiet as they walked. Her walk still, leaning into the wind when it gusted against them. She stayed slightly behind him, but off to the side so he could see her if he turned slightly. Her head held low and eyes squinted she listened to what he was speaking about. She had figured the bridge was near the human village since they had built it. But so was the graveyard. “If they come near I will not be in their sights long…” She spoke loud enough for him to hear her despite the noise. “If they come too close before I notice, I won’t hesitate to draw blood… their blood, before I run.”
It was the honest truth. She was no coward, but she did not trust the humans in the slightest. She’d seen others try to defend themselves by attaching or standing their ground. And so she’d seen the consequences… the humans had strange, long range weapons that could take you down before you got close enough to leap at them. She’d rather run and live, than show bravery against them and die.

“If they come too close before I notice, I won’t hesitate to draw blood… their blood, before I run.”
Chauncy paused, his ears flicking backwards towads the sound of Maxrunn. He smiled warmly and shook his head. Such manners! And he had though he was a bit rough hewn, he was brought up the fighter, and here this pretty little snowflake was so gung-ho for drawing blood. He chuckled lightly, looking behind himself to shrugg at her.
"I-I don't think...it will be that bad, Max....they...they usually keep t-t-to themselves." The pitmix had never been that concerned by humans at a distance, as they normally stayed that way, as far the hell away from him as they could manage. "Do they have...have humans w-where you come from?" he couldn't possibly imagine that she had lived in Manor her entire life...

Though it appeared as though her attention was else where, her senses were locked onto him as they moved together through the beginning of this possible blizzard. She hated humans it was in her from birth. But that was a long story that even her mind didn’t wish to go into. It wasn’t pleasant.
If she’d heard his mind thinking and refer to her as a snowflake she probably would have melted right then an there, maybe even break into tears. But as he hadn’t said it allowed she continued to just walk.
“If we are lucky…” She mumbled as he spoke of it not being that bad. Again, she wasn’t going to put anything past them. If she never saw one again it would be too soon. But seeing as it the snow was starting to lay upon the frozen ground, the humans would be no where to be seen. What a shame.
“A few.” She moved a little closer, the more frequent gusts making it harder to speak as they headed toward his home. “It was some sort of trading camp… Sled dogs… Hunters…” Her tone wasn’t exactly bitter, but it showed she hadn’t like it there, not even in jest. Glancing toward him a moment she watched him move. He was being so kind to her. Lifting her ears slightly before lowering her gaze to the ground before her once more.

"Well, I don't live in the v-village." Chauncy made sure to clarify, it appeared that Max wasn't a big fan of humans. Which was fair, to each dog their own. But that did perk the mutt's curiosity, he too was a bit leary of human company, but he wasn't nearly so defensive or aggressive.
"S-so, you don't...li-like humans...I tttake it?" he smiled, gesturing with his head that she was more than welcome to walk along side of him. Afterall, it was a better view.

Didn’t like was an understatement for sure. Maxrunn sighed, letting her eyes lower to the frozen ground once more. “They are cruel.” It was true, but it was more who they’d been cruel to that mattered. “My mother… Had been broken by them long before I was born.”
Slowly she started forward, coming around to match his pace and location. Swallowing, her tail between her legs once more. It was awkward but there were two forces in her dukeing it our as they had before. She wanted to walk even closer to him… but she also wanted to avoid anything that was a positive feeling and run away before that feeling could be betrayed. And yet she did manage to stay there instead of giving into the need to walk farther back or away all together. He was charming, in a stuttering and kindly sort of way. She’d not met a dog like him before, but then she rarely meet any due to her love of being alone.
At last she lifted her head, ears back a little as she snuck a glance at his profile. “Why… don’t you like them?” Alright so maybe she was just looking for affirmation that hating them so was alright and she wasn’t alone.

Chauncy listened to Maxrunn's story very carefully, she was right humans could be cruel. He had marks of that up and down his form. But he didn't carry nearly the chip on his shoulder. He smiled at the white female calmly, his eyes softening almost pitiably.
The pitmix seemed hesitant on talking, more than he had before. As though to say what he was and who he was before he was thrown away would frighten the female away. He -knew- she would probably hate him. After all, he was nothing more than a murderer, and for sport no less...
He whined, his ears pinning back just ever so slightly. "Its...i-t-t--its nothing....n-n-n-no rreason." He stutter got a bit worse but he put on a happy face, though his eyes looked far away.

The skinny female waited for an answer and, even if he’d barely said one, his sudden change in demeanor and tone told her enough. It was not a past he wished to discuss. Perhaps it showed him in a bad light. But that very information showing that he was ashamed of that bad past meant that he was not like those she’d had run ins with in the past.
That fake smile of his brought about a genuine one of her own. Glancing a head of them, hoping they where nearly there due to the fact that the snow was now a good inch around them. And then she finally gave in to what she’d been fighting. She stepped a little closer as they walked, brushing her shoulder against his own and hiding her head closer to his neck to avoid the wind.
Both movements were only for a moment and then she was back to walking normally beside him, her eyes mostly cold to avoid the snow flakes.

Chauncy plodded on, a bit shameful, and ever more so bashful. The silence didn't bother him any. Really talking wasn't his thing, he was always more articulate in his head than from his mouth. He didn't look up, he wasn't brave enough to face his past.
The quick bout of...affection from the Snowflake dog...it jarred him. He looked at her, and smiled. But he still didn't know what the gesture meant. He could count the females he meet on one paw. And none of them had been anywhere around his age...
His entire memorable youth had been around males, very mean, very violent males. Chauncy was used more to fighting then cuddling. The pitmix's ears twitched, flicking snow from his blond fur.
"W-we're almost...t-there..."

Maxrunn didn’t mind his reaction, in fact she was glad he didn’t make a huge deal of it. She rarely showed affection. And every time she had it had come back to bite her. Maybe it was this dreary cold and claustrophobic weather that was driving her to chance herself again, but in any case she’d done it and there was no taking the simple gestures back.
At last, the words she’d wanted to hear. They were nearly there… She sighed, letting a bit of calm take over her for a moment.

With a rush of wind, the tough looking male cringe, the wind was picking up, it was getting dangerous, but Chauncy didn't really know what was going on. He didn't have that primal animal danger sense, unless it meant another animal was going to make him hurt. To him the snow was pretty, such gentle little flakes fall to earth.
With a soft smile he looked up to the storm as his light fur turned white like his companion's. His brows knitting inquisitively. "Is the...the w-wweather picking up?"

Maxrunn shivered glancing his way as he spoke. “It’s a storm… we should move faster…” She swallowed shaking off for a moment before making her steps larger. She wasn’t one to like the cold and with the area starting to look like a white out blizzard, she wasn’t going to happy until they were out of it all.
“Are we there yet, Chauncy?” Staying closer one more she waited for his response.

"D-don't know...I just, just w-wandered here. " Chauncy couldn't help but be honest in this situation. He had, after all, only meandered here on a whim. He had forgotten just how long it took him to get from the cemetery from the bridge. "Why...w-we-we in trouble?"
He looked at Maxrunn with a touch of concern, as ever untrusting as the female was, Chauncy was quick to put his trust in her. He paused a moment as she moved on, so he let her take the lead.

He didn’t know where they were? Her eyes getting wider for a moment, she swallowed. “We could freeze… we need to find somewhere to get out of this snow.” Although she didn’t trust him, she didn’t blame him for not knowing where they were. It was not a good situation out. And as the fear of getting stuck out here increased her survival instincts began to kick in.
Standing that much taller she looked around, peering through he falling snow. There had to be some kind of refuge out here. Somewhere out of the snow… And then she spotted it. A windfall. It was a bunch of trees that had fallen and collected debris. Beneath it all was a hollow, where the wind and snow could not go. Perfect! Nudging his shoulder she started for it. “This way!”
Once there she dug into an edge of it, burrowing until there was a small space that they could squeeze through. And that she did, and instantly she was warmer and felt safer. Sneaking in as far as she could she realized how large of a windfall this was. At the deepest part, like a den, she could stand normal and have little trouble. Turning around she looked back toward the tunnel like entrance, hoping he’d join her. Yeah, scary. She actually wanted him to stay with her.

Chauncy seemed a little humiliated that he had led them so haphazardly, it was the the snow? No he was just an idiot, he followed Max, tail down, ears low. He was no egotistical male, but the blow to his tattered self confidence stung. "I-I didn't...know far...it..wa...nevermind." he tagged along.
He definitely let Max have first pick of a comfy spot in the hallow...he'd take the outside.
