Black paws raced swiftly though the shadows of the Sallin lands, carrying a fae through the territory. Crimson eyes scanned the scene before them as the black and white wolf ran in search of the den of treasure. Kross zig-zagged this way and that, using the moonless night and the mist to hide her in the open, while the rocks and foliage hid her frame. She darted forward and would pause before heading on, sweeping the area in a systematic search method.
At last she caught site of a cave among the trees, and her black ears pricked forward. The scent of Nightshade, the Sallin Alphess, was everywhere, although it seemed she had not been present for a few hours. Kross chose a position downwind from the cave and rolled in the rosemary and lavender that grew there, masking her own scent with the strong odor of the herbs. Next she rolled in the dark mud, although she hated to dirty her snowy coat, until she was a dark grey, almost black. Her crimson scarf was dulled in the darkness, and the silver pendant had been dipped in the mud to dull it and keep it from sparkling.
Kross lay in a hunting crouch, which she could keep up for hours and staked out the den, perfectly hidden among the rocks, mud and trees. Her eyes were almost closed in a squint to avoid them catching any light that the night my reveal, and she waited for the right moment to enter the den. She wanted to know what she was up against before she ran into the enclosed space that was sure to be the treasure den.

ooc/ Lolz I really should have figured that out myself. Sorry, I'm really slow today. But anyway, it sounds really interesting, and thank you very much Kahvie. =) I think I will post something in about five or ten minutes. (Now I did.)
Completely coincidentally, a mixed breed domestic canine, otherwise known as a mutt, was sleeping peacefully just a little ways away from Kross - between her and the den. His black-spotted gray coat barely moved with his breathing, and his left ear was flopped over, which it had a tendency to do unless he was very alert. All in all, he didn't look like an especially intimidating prospect for anyone that happened to pass by, particularly since, even considering that he was asleep, his expression looked nothing short of vacant.
Suddenly, perhaps aroused by some change in the wind or small animal in the brush, the dog lifted his head, opened his eyes, and yawned. The gleaming white fangs didn't look quite right, somehow, with the rest of him, but they were not revealed for very long. He snapped his mouth shut and looked around with inordinate interest, clearly wondering if there was anyone nearby.

At the sight of the male Kross's entire body grew tense. Her muscles were coiled springs, ready to jump whether she was to fight or flee. She remembered her mission, steal an item without being seen. All it took was one howl and she had failed, and she was not about to fail. If she had to silence this one, she would not hesitate.
Kross's eyes were fixed on the mutt, but her ears swiveled back and forth, making sure that no one could sneak up on her. The wind was still her ally, and the lavender and rosemary bushes she had chose to hide in were a great cover for her scent. SHe had practically stopped breathing now, drawing in slow, quiet breaths every minute or so, barly enough air. Her neck itched, but she barely felt it. That wasn't important right now, only her mission mattered.
She didn't move even a hair besides her swiveling ears, the scarf tied around them not even making a whisper of noise. She was good at the waiting game, and all she had to do was outwait this grey obstacle. She knew she had made the right decision by waiting before entering the cave. She would have been upwind of this dog if she had, and almost certainly would have given herself away. Her lips pulled away slightly in a silent snarl, and she waited.

ooc/ Er, I don't really know what to say. o.0 I mean, Chance isn't really going to do much besides sit there, really. Sorry, I guess I can try to think of something.
Okay, I'll give it a shot...
The dog looked around briefly, happily, and idiotically, yawned, and lay back down. He kneaded the leaves with his paws slowly; then his mismatched eyes closed and, to all appearances, he fell asleep again.

Still Kross did not move, but instead she watched the male mutt before her. When no movement came she took her eyes from him for the first time in a long while, scanning the area around her. Amongst the bramble she noticed a good sized stone and, taking it in her jaws, she tossed it over the dog with a snap of her head.
The stone flew threw the air and cracked against the cave's outside wall, bouncing down noisly as it went. Kross lay crouched opposite the stone's position, making sure that the dog really was asleep.

Chance lifted his head, blinking sleepily, at the sound. With a yawn, he leaned over to sniff the rock that had landed by his paws. He looked around happily, shrugged, and flopped his head down again.
His eyes remained half-open for a few minutes, then they closed all the way.

Kross practically swore. This dog was a light sleeper, but seemed disinterested in the world around him. This was risky. On the one paw, she could wait here until he either slept into a deeper slumber or left (neither seemed likely). On the other paw, she could make a move for the cave and hope for the best. She ground her fangs together, although still making no noise. Well, if she waited around she had no idea who would come by, and she couldn't afford to linger here. She'd have to risk it.
The muddied fae got up and crept around the dog, her eyes flashing between him and the ground in front of her. Once her paw brushed a twig, but she was quick to lengthen her stride just enough to avoid it. When she was close enough to the cave's enterance she bounded forward into the dimly lit cavern.
Once she was in a ways she began to examine the objects, being very careful at which one she chose. Her ears stayed alert to every noise, and her nose was quivering. Finally she found a silver and onyx necklace she thought would do. She scooped it up into her mouth and swallowed it, holding it in her belly pouch.
She sprang from the cave as fast as she could, leaping over the sleeping dog and dissapearing into the night with barely a whisper of the leaves. Then she was running as fast as she could towards the border, making for Snyl.

ooc/ Er...Chance doesn't get an opportunity to intercept that? o.0 You know, he would almost definitely let Kross have something if she wanted it...
