Paws trotted hard against the ground of unfamiliar lands, blue eyes narrowed in a lazy manner though ears and nose were alert for any shift in the winds. The long fur that covered the canine's eyes were blown back by a wind, bringing his scent back the way he had come. Nuka closed his eyes at this. It was a fools mistake to close his eyes in enemy territory, but there seemed to be no one there as the moon shone down on the terrain. His normally dark grey fur shone a light silver in the light that came, making the lighter grey patches on him turn white. Though as he moved in the shade that was splattered around, his pelt turned back to it's darker colors.
Nuka stopped, muscles tightened as he sent his gaze towards the moon, a small huff leaving him. The moon did nothing for him so why give it the pleasure of hearing him howl? Why even stare at it? Questions like these pondered his mind for quite some time until he came with a answer. The moon was just using him. How that could even be possible didn't even come to the timber's mind as he sat down on his haunches, opening his jaws to the skies to let out a growl. Lips pulled back and teeth were bared, ears flattened against his skull. Eyes burned with hatred at the large round object in the sky.
His tri-colored tail thrashed back and fourth on the ground, claws digging in in annoyance. Nuka had no doubt that someone knew he was here and it was only a matter of time before someone came to him.

Nightshade started as soon as she heard the call. She had been padding to the north, watching the moon through the corner of her only half-interested eyes. She spun to face the direction of the sound; ears twitching as it slowly faded. She did not move again for some long moments, her tail always high in dominance. She had learnt long ago that you could often end up in the presence of one who could see you clearly, even if you yourself were unaware of it. Learnt the hard way, her thought never touched her lips, as usual. What the alpha knew or suspected in her mind was hardly ever spoken of. Such was her way.
The wind was against her, but with her strong sense of smell she was able to pick up the faint direction of the caller, even if he had not announced himself so clearly. Continuing forward with back lowered as though hunting, the she-wolf set off into the dark, her figure shrouded in the shadow of the silent trees. The moon was at her aid this night.
Creeping when she guessed she was getting closer, Nightshade was able to stop in her tracks as soon as the form of the intruder came into her sights. She took it in at once, and a slight smile curled the edge of her thin lips. He was a Timber - a pureblood. All the better for our cause, she thought slyly. She had need for curs, it was true, but there had been far too many of them in Sallin of late. Halfbreeds, too. They were worse, often, though they could be bent to do her bidding, just like the rest.
Stepping out into the relative open for the first time, the she-wolf made no attempt to hide her presence any longer. She could go unnoticed if she saw fit to do so, but even she could not disappear entirely. No one ever could. Another cruel smile played upon her scarred maw. 'What business have you here, wolf,' her voice resounded about the branches and the rocks, echoing in the wind like the touch of the Forgotten. Callous and bitter, she made no effort to conceal her sharp fangs as she spoke. 'In the land of Sallin?'

Nuka's ear twitched self-consciously as he await for the alpha of these lands. He continued to glare at the moon with as much hated as he could muster. Fur stood up on end as well as lips drawn back. If the wolf in charge didn't hury up, he'd bring his buisiness elsewhere. That was until an unfamiliar scent and voice came to him. They weren't questions that could be shrugged off, Nuka knew that. These words demanded answers.
Turning so he faced the female that had spoken the wolf let his lips drop, ears still back and eyes narrowing at her. Of course, there wasn't as much hate as before in them. No. That would be a bad thing to do, expecially if this wolf was the alpha. Tail was held limply behind him and he showed no sign of submission any other wolf would. Nuka lowered his head slightly so as not to expose his neck to her. "I am looking for the Alpha. I take it you are this wolf? And my buisiness here is for my own mind to bear. All you need to know is that I need a pack to belong to."

Nightshade tilted her head a little in amusement. No doubt this wolf had heard at least a little of the ways of Sallin, for the alpha knew the difference between a bow in greeting, and the need to cover one's lifesource. The wolf persisted to keep his neck out of her way as he finished his words. 'I am indeed the alpha, so I'd watch that tongue if you want to keep that prized neck of yours.' The she-wolf chuckled, but it was not entirely a mirthful sound.
'And I think you misunderstand,' her eyes glinted a little in the darkness, the ethereal moonlight adding to the effect. 'As long as you're here, it is my business to know your intentions. To a certain extent, at least.' She turned away from him then, an uncommon thing to do in a greeting. Padding a few paces away, Nightshade stopped to look through the trees. Shadow had engulfed them despite the moon, and thickening tendrils of mist were seeping through into the half-clearing where both wolves stood. Yes, winter was still here alright. Snow still lay below the branches where it could reach, and on the treeless grasses it was stronger that Nightshade had seen that year. The cold bite of bitter winter would not let go for some time yet.
'But you come here seeking a place of acceptance, wolf?' She moved her head so that she could look at him over her shoulder. 'Do you not fear what we might do to you in your sleep?' The cool simplicity of this was chilling, but there was something threatening about it, too. An almost completely hidden warning that would be hard to detect by most. This is only the first test, Nightshade thought with satisfaction.

((Better than mine! ^^))
Ears pulled back against his skull as she chuckled, holding a growl back he knew was to come out at some point in time if this meeting did not hold well. By the sound of her, this wolf was one of deadly porportions, defiantely someone you didn't want against you. And yet, he had a small sense of respect towards her because of it. Nuka wasn't a fighter. The only thing he was good at was stratagy, even then he miscalculted at times. In deed, he would have troubles in this pack of warrior wolves, if he was accepted. At least there was a small hope.
"Well excuse my insolance, ma'am," There was a small hint of vemon in his voice. As she turned away from him Nuka let a small show of confusion cross his eyes. Coldness was seeping through his fur slowly, making the timber toss his pelt left and right. The moon left them, giving him a calm mind. Shadows were always a wolf's best friend though now it was something that could kill him. This female had the best cover right now in this setting.
Tail flicked as she continued takling, this time about acceptance and killing him in his sleep. It as sure something no one normally said to one another. Her voice sent a small shiver up his spine, a grin spreading across his maw. "Yes I came here looking for a strong pack to prove to myself that I'm not some weakling. I don't plan on proving myself right now in a fight with you. It wouldn't be a good idea for either of us.
"As for your other question, I don't deny that you and your pack could indeed carry that threat out, however, I have no intention of dying any time soon. Not by you, your pack, or any one else."

((Evil short post - Sorry for the wait!))
What may have been called insolence by some in the young wolf's tone only made Nightshade smile. She expected nothing less. Something as taunting as what she had just spoken was enough to cause some to erupt - but to have no affect at all could be just as dire. Turning back around to face him as he continued, the she-wolf made no hesitation in showing off how confident she was in the dark. Of course, no true wolf would ever feel the need for sunlight before shadow - of stars before the endless blackness that made them what they are. But Nightshade dwelled in the darkness with a kindred love that would no doubt have confused or even angered some.
'You are not expected to fight me in order to gain acceptance,' she sniffed in amusement. 'If that were the case, there would be no pack to be accepted into.' Her voice was saturated with her own arrogance. A dangerous thing, but ridden by one who could back it up - a deadly thing.
As Nuka continued, the alpha paced before him. More stalking than anything else. Back and forth she padded with the grace of a panther. But to the trained eye, every muscle resounded the power of a seething viper. Enough venom held in the tongue to poison the mind. Nightshade was taller than most she-wolves, and many others at that, but now, as she kept her neck flat and her head sloped, there was something sinister about it. The muscles in her shoulders gave each step purpose, and her long legs gave her the ability to cover more distance. Murder flickered in her cold green gaze. 'You may not wish it,' - there was something certain in her voice - something sickening - 'but death will find us all in the end.'

His eyes watched the female as she strode around the shadows, showing the male how she mastered the darkness in her terrain. Nuka watched her with slight annoyance in his eyes. All these words were getting them no where. Unless, should she be looking for a weakness. Well, Nuka wasn't about to come all this way just to be attacked. Her words made his ear twitch slightly after the small silence. She was cocky. The timber had seen that before. Others showing their power over others, taunting and throwing h=themselves around but not having the bite to back up their back. However, the stories, the myths that surrounded this place made Nuka think otherwise about this alphess.
The way her muscles moved showed that of a trained fighter. Her strength in fighting was obvious and the male knew he would not want to get on her bad side any time soon. Nuka huffed slightly, annoyed by how long this was taking. "Death finds us all eventually. It just comes quicker for others." A smile forned across his maw. And he would be happy to help some of those lucky few get there.

Nightshade smiled at the annoyance in his eyes. Things only took as long as they had to with her, but at this rate, they could be here for quite some time. It was not uncommon for a newcomer to become frustrated with her tone and her ways, but sooner or later they would accept it. Either that, or they would have to learn the hard way.
Being cocky was simply her way. She knew the strength in her own bones, just as she knew the power in her blood. But her mind was what she relied on. Weaving plots and tricks was how she had survived through those cold years in Raknu. Fear was her ally, even more so than the darkness or the moon. But death was something she rarely considered. She was not troubled by the thought of her own demise, but then neither did she welcome it. War was drawing closer, but she would call this world her own before the end. Before her end.
'True,' she peered up through the branches, seeming to speak more to herself than another. The disk of light that faded in and out of the shrouding clouds seemed to give her green eyes a new glow. In any other, perhaps it would have been pretty. 'Perhaps these times will be the death of us all.' It was barely more than a murmur, but the clear night air would no doubt carry the alpha's voice to his ears.
'But you are here for a different purpose. So, with all formality of such a meeting, perhaps you will tell me your name?' Her tone had returned to normal, but still she did not look at him. It was a statement more than a question, but nonetheless one that demanded an answer. The wind carried the clouds across the face of the moon, and for a moment only the dimmest of lights remained. Not even wolves could see in total blackness, but such a thing was rare here, and even the most meagre of illuminations could be worked with by the more skilled wolves. Nightshade allowed her chest to lift with the intake of breath.
