((place seems kinda dead but I'll give it a shot))
Claws dug into the earth, leaving great furrows in their wake. YThe galloping run carried him forward swiftly, paws only coming to the ground for the breifest moment before leaving it again. He had run with the wind, letting it push him ever forward so that the wolf made better time that he might have otherwise. Not that there was really a sense of urgency to his wanderings, there never was, but every now and then it made him feel purposeful to push himself to his limit, to strive for that one last mile. It was better than feeling useless.
As it was, he was forced to stop, not by any physical barrier, but because he had reached his destination. Though there had been no urgency in arriving, the brown wolf had felt it necessary to make all due haste to the dark forest. Sallin. Through mere hearsay in the cold forests of the north, the wolf had found seemingly kindred spirits among those who pledged their loyalty to the one called Nightshade. A hatred of man's dogs, and a lust for ever greater power. Of course for him the latter was a happy byproduct of the first. Vengeance would be the order of the day.
Wide paws carried his light frame over the border for a few steps, but that was more than enough to let them know he was here. The wind blew strongly, it would spread his scent all around the territory, and if any were alert enough to find it, he would be ready. Red eyes peered out from under the tuft of raven-black fur that whipped back and forth in the wind. His torn ears perched forward, attempting to keep him alert of any approaching wolves. He was Outsider, and he had arrived.

He looked up. Glinting orbs peered at the forever darkened sky of theses barren lands, and blinked once only when the wind tossed his bangs to and fro; black streaked with crimson that either hid or reveled his emerald eyes. Nose flared as he scented the wind, and it brought to him a scent that repulsed him. It was another....
Who dared intrude upon the lands of Sallin?
Baring his teeth in a snarl, he sprung up, leaping forward across the darkened lands. Muscles rubbed against bone and his fur bounced along his skin as he ran, and forever a snarl was searing deep in his throat. Emerald orbs glared hatred and malice as he went, seeking out the smell.
Paws steps came to the ground in anger. Already, he was becoming aggravated with the lack of activity within Sallin. Where had everyone else gone? Where ever you resided in the ebony forest, a grueling silence followed. For days and days you would never see another member. He had took upon himself to patrol this portion of Sallin he was on, and now, finally there was some action.
He flew through that forest, silent has most, and like a shadow. The breeze carried the scent to his nostrils even stronger now, and the Sallin Warrior couldn't help but chuckle at a sudden thought. Did that sorry wolf even know what he was getting himself into, coming into a pack such as this? The powerful and feared Sallin.
He erupted through the tree line, and stopped at a stand still just a few yards from the intruder. "State your business in these lands"

So the question remained...where was everybody? Outsider had all but expected to be swarmed by angry guards the moment his paws touched Sallin earth. And yet many moments passed with naught but the howl of the wind to keep him company. If this Sallin was as deadly as the stories said, why was it so empty-looking? It baffled the wolf, really, had the stories been false? Perhaps exaggerations of the truth, or tales of passed days of glory.
But the arrival, all spit and hellfire, of another wolf cleared up these doubts. No, Sallin was no myth. He tried to keep a submissive posture, though it was uncharacteristic to do so. Outsider was not going to roll over and beg to this wolf to allow him refuge within Sallin, Sallin was no refuge and he did not beg. His voice was raspy and hard, like his piercing red eyes.
"I am Outsider, and my business is to join Sallin, if Sallin will have me." He could be no more direct than that...

Teeth were bared and a snarl all but ripped from his throat as he glared at the intruder, emerald eye conceiving a deep hatred for those who trespass, limbs splayed wide and tail hovering above his back. It was all a warning, and if it was not heeded, Akatsuki would be upon the wolf in moments. For the moment he could only stand and watch, to see a reaction.
One came as soon as he appeared in front of the wolf. It seemed to submit, and yet, it wasn't submitting. It took to the Warrior's mind as a case of the natural; when one is alone for a long time, or is the ruler of a pack, submission doesn't come to thought. Then when you must submit, it recoils on your very nature, and becomes like a hair growing the wrong way; back into the flesh. A festering, itching thing of hurt.
A voice came to the wolf, hard and raspy, and just the same as those crimson eyes that the brute stared into with his own. "I am Outsider, and my business is to join Sallin, if Sallin will have me." The male had to admit, it was simply put, and more to the point that most others he had encounter. He liked him for that.
His snarl turned into a deep growl, and he brought his own voice into the fray. It took on almost a hiss, and it was more like a snake than a wolf's voice. Emerald eyes followed every move that Outsider made as it came upon him the irony of the wolf's name. "But Outsider, do you know what you are getting yourself into?" , a sly, coy sneer formed across his muzzle as those words came, "We tread carefully around our high rankers and give respect where it is due. We do not care for the likes of dogs, or half mutts. They are despised by our Alpha Nightshade who is the complete ruler here. Another thing......you must be able to keep yourself alive. Can you do that, or must I test the question?"
On the last words.....he wasn't kidding in the least.

It was some sort of minor miracle that prevented both extraordinarily hostile wolves from slaying each other, like as not merely out of habit. The other wolf was not intent on backing down, and neither was Outsider, though inwardly he had calmed when his entreaty had not been met with scorn or mocking laughter. A good sign, to be sure. Or perhaps this wolf was merely toying with him...
"But Outsider, do you know what you are getting yourself into? We tread carefully around our high rankers and give respect where it is due. We do not care for the likes of dogs, or half mutts. They are despised by our Alpha Nightshade who is the complete ruler here. Another thing......you must be able to keep yourself alive. Can you do that, or must I test the question?"
Sly and evil grin accompanied these words, and it took all of the brown wolf's considerable willpower not to snap at the Sallin wolf before him. These requisites seemed like childsplay to what he had been expecting, and it did not occur to him that perhaps he had overestimated the demands placed upon Nightshade's loyal. Oh, he could do that....
"I understand, and am more than able to comply...especially on that note of dogs." He spat the word, and it was clear by the intense hatred that flared to life in his eyes that there had, at some point, been bad blood between he and man's dogs. The wound had never healed. "I have heard tales from the far north of Nightshade's might, I would be a fool to not understand her rule as absolute. Sallin has my loyalty, my strength, and my life. I can offer no more."

Akatsuki never moved as the wolf spoke, and emerald eyes were locked with those of the intruder. By now he would have probably ripped the throat out of this mysterious wolf, but he was learning absent mindedly that different characters have different personalities that he would need to accept.
"I understand, and am more than able to comply...especially on that note of dogs." He spat the word, and it was clear by the intense hatred that flared to life in his eyes that there had, at some point, been bad blood between he and man's dogs. "I have heard tales from the far north of Nightshade's might, I would be a fool to not understand her rule as absolute. Sallin has my loyalty, my strength, and my life. I can offer no more."
Quickly, the Warrior shifted and circled Outsider. Examining. He looked like he would be useful, or a great asset to Nightshade with proper training and preparation. But the brute was not so quick to make such a decision, and his teeth were once again bared as he took his place back in front of the brown male. " Alpha Nightshade might be glad to have a wolf such as yourself amongst her ranks, Outsider..... ", here came a pause that was accompanied by a dry clicking of the jaws, "But of what use would you be?"
Simply put, he needed to know what skills the wolf had, and if he would even be worthy of joining the ranks of Sallin.

All told, he felt he was doing well. He was brief but honest, thorough but keeping to the point. He did not linger on shades from the past, no one but himself cared in that regard. There were no sympathizers or bleeding hearts here, and he would not seek them out even if there were. Mercy and kindness were for the weak, and the weak died. Whatever weakness his jaded heart had once harboured had been slain as surely as his kin.
" Alpha Nightshade might be glad to have a wolf such as yourself amongst her ranks, Outsider..... But of what use would you be?"
Here came another question, and perhaps a bit of praise for making it this far in the interrogation. He stood stock still as he was circled, not flinching even once. Oh, so she wanted to know if he had any talents? He'd never considered that, to him strength was strength. Still, he would have to put what he knew he was capable of into words, and that wasn't necessarily easy. After a moment, he spoke.
"I am a warrior, by breeding and training. I may not be the largest or mosr muscular of my kind, but I prefer speed to raw power. I would not, however, deign to anticipate your Alpha's uses for me, it is not my place to assume her will."

"I am a warrior, by breeding and training. I may not be the largest or mosr muscular of my kind, but I prefer speed to raw power. I would not, however, deign to anticipate your Alpha's uses for me, it is not my place to assume her will."
So....he had on his paws yet another being that sought the rank of a warrior. Sallin was known well for them, and well known for strength; two assets, that with the other ranks of Sallin, like the assassins and spies, could be one of the most successful war bound packs in all of Kloteck. The name though...Sallin....meant to strike fear into many and other granted respect, but it was a justification, adding to the pack's glory and rumors that were very well true to any whom entered the pack lands wished acceptance...or wishing death. Be it either way.
Emerald eyes peered for a moment longer at Outsider, again going over the pelt, the build, and looking deep into those blood red eyes. A grin came as the last sentence was spoken. Smart words......and the reply was simple, to the point, and wasting no time. The same audible hiss lingered in the whole of the statement, but it was overgrown by the deeper, baritone voice.
"Welcome to the ranks of Sallin...."

Outsider was stock still, waiting. This wolf could leap at him and try to attack him, and wouldn't that be fun. Not that the brown wolf disliked a good rumble, but this was a pack wolf, and where there was one there were others. Their duel would not stay that way for long, in short order he would become outnumbered and either slain or driven off. If it came to blows, that was. Thus far the other wolf had made no hostile actions towards him. The red-eyed wolf would wait and see, for now.
At last an appraising look from the Sallin wolf as it halted his motion. He seemed to consider the outsider wolf before him for a moment before speaking in that sibilant tongue with its rumbling undertone. Rather disquieting, that.
"Welcome to the ranks of Sallin...."
YES Outsider's pride burned in his eyes, grim and fierce. He was in. He was Sallin. He dipped his head in a stiff bow to his new superior, though he still did not avert his eyes from the green ones of the other wolf whose name he still did not know. There would be time for that later, of course. His raspy voice belied no emotion yet, but his eyes, burning with dark satisfaction, let the other wolf know that acceptance was not something he would callously brush aside. Outsider in name only, this wolf was loyal to those who in turn demonstrated loyalty.
"I will not disappoint you." Outsider was home.
