So long my memories Like a faded photograph No matter how far I walk, how hard I cry I cannot follow your footsteps. You have left me, Blown through my life like a strong wind. I have left you To die alone. Goodbye my past, goodbye what was once my life. You sacrificed, I sacrificed. Now I am alone.
Redwood gazed up at a cloudy sky. Wind billowed through his russet pelt. His eyes like liquid sandstone lingered on the heavens, a sorrowful look in his eyes. He knew nothing much about how to be a wolf. How to cooperate in a pack and take down elk. He was but a thief and he knew only his trade. His looks were mixed. His body wasn't muscular or large, but instead built for more quick movements. He almost resembled a fox if you looked at him from a distance. Up close he looked like what he was. An average sized wolf-dog. In a way, Redwood was proud of his linage. But he was also sorry for it. He didn't know his mother well. When he was old enough that he no longer need milk, his father took him away, far away. His father had a good heart. He always told Redwood stories of the place he had once called home. Synl, a dog pack. Redwood was inspired by his words but words are never enough. A year after Russet died Redwood decided to seek out the Synl pack. He wanted to join their ranks, find life among his father's kind. But would they accept him? He padded through the land of autumn, looking up at the red leaves that would fall to join their dead brethren soon. Redwood felt awe at the beauty of the land, and he wondered why the trees lost their foliage so soon. His paws crunched lightly under his paws as he walked. Could he really follow his father's footsteps?

Anna darted through the autumn underbrush like small tawny dart, she had given herself sentry duties, on account that there had been very little she wanted to do this afternoon other than take a nice long walk through Synl and its endless fall. She was a fan of the crisp winds blowing through her coat and nipping at her nose. It made her feel alive, and just generally good.
With a sniff and a chuckled the greeter followed her way through paths that usually only she followed, too short and shallow for most of the larger dogs to make their way through. Which was alright by her, it made the art of sneaking up on bigger dogs much, much easier after all.
She had been thinking of many things as she walked along, past regrets, lost love, but she wouldn't have even changed a thing, you see, she was happy with how her life had been going so far, though not so happy about herself on so many levels. But she could only do what she could do, as she was herself, no matter what, if she wasn't, she wouldn't be herself, now would she?
The wind kicked up again, and with it, a strange smell of some beast unknown. Well this would prove interesting, Anna slowed her pace and crept carefully through the underbrush, noticing a young red dog, probably wolf dog, looking in a mess of mental turmoil, she couldn't blame him, most times she was no different. Perking up some, and trying to look a bit more ambassador-like the Corgi girl stepped out clearly nodding to the male.
"Goodday young fellow..." she looked up at Redwood and grinned.

Tell me all that you've thrown away Find out games you don't wanna play You are the only one that needs to know
Redwood jumped a little as he heard the dog address him. He had been in such deep thought, he hadn't even noticed her presence. Stupid...He should be more alert, not day-dreaming. Still, he smiled and turned to face Anna. "Ello." he said, bowing his head respectfully. "My name is Redwood. Are you, perhaps, part of Synl?" he asked with a curious look in his sandstone eyes. He prayed so for he had been wandering too long now. Searching for just a whisper of his past and feeling only a breeze of his future. All that was in his sight was the present at the moment. He knew little of the way of wolves and dogs, he often felt more like a fox because he lived alone. But now, now he wanted to learn. He wanted to know. He wanted to live.
Who has to know When we live such fragile lives It's the best way we survive

Well it seemed she took him a little by surprise, not her intention, so Anna felt a little bit bad for giving him a start. But she smiled back in return with a polite nod. "Yes, I am, Anna, Greeter of Synl. May I ask what brings you to our lands?" She didn't seem the littlest bit hostile, her ears swiveling with curiosity and her stumpy tail giving a slight wag.
But before he could respond the short legged canine was too her feet again, and doing circles around the wolf-dog, snuffling, as though inspecting him. He didn't smell like Sallin...which was good, so she paused and gave him a smirk. "Sorry...just making sure you weren't from another packland...you understand, right?"

A falling star... Redwood grinned, he already liked this little corgi. She was a kind soul. His own tail wagged back and forth slowly as he listened to her words. Synl...It held so many memories, no of them seen through his own eyes. Just the stories he'd heard. Redwood had much he didn't know of yet, he was so young. Not only that, but he'd spent most of his life alone. The only company he kept was the forest and the creatures that lived within it. Ah well, he was due for some change. He looked at the corgi a little strangely as she walked around sniffing him. Well...that was unexpected but he smiled weakly as she explained. "Er...Yeah of course. I'm not from anywhere around here if that's what you're wondering.

"Er...Yeah of course. I'm not from anywhere around here if that's what you're wondering."
The corgi cocked her head inquisitively, "I can tell, so stranger, you planning on staying a spell? Or just passing through." she winked at the young Redwood, he seemed to be getting more comfortable around her at least...most folks entering Synl always seemed to think they'd get in trouble running into her. Which confused her as much as amused her.

Redwood nodded. "I was hoping to stick around for awhile..." he said with a smile. "That is, if you and the rest of the pack will have me." he chuckled a little, now beginning to wonder what the dogs of Snyl would be like. He could only hope they would be as welcoming and kind as Anna...But then you never really can tell.

"Well if you wish to stay in the lands of Synl, and promise to do what you can to help the pack and not cause any trouble, well I can't see why I can't welcome you here." Anna smirked, it was her job to inspect newcomers to see if they were fit for Synl membership, if they were, she would welcome them, and then run off to one of the Alphas to tell them who and what the new member was like.
She really did like her job. And it was easy to tell, as her stubby tail wiggled happily.

Redwood nodded. "I'd jump off a cliff for this pack if their lives depended on it." he said with a small smile and his tail wagged slowly back and forth. He...was part of Synl. Already he could see himself serving under the alpha and alphess as a loyal pack member and friend. He could see himself living just as his father did. Redwood felt like running off, jumping around, anything to express his joy. Though, a large and stupid looking grin would suffice for now.
