Not so liked people: He's an angry kid. He's likely to hate everyone on first impression.
Nova has the constant look of an animal backed into a corner or like someone who's constantly looking over his shoulder. His sharp, steel eyes depict the urge to strike before someone else does. His posture is often shrunken back, more like a snake drawing it's head against a coil then a submissive puppy. Being submissive is not natural to him; it's something he had to learn in order to survive. Calling it 'submissive' isn't entirely correct; it's more like being careful, like being paranoid. He's always looking behind him, always checking the shadows.
Nova is an actually rather attractive dog. His fur has no easily seen flaws (no stray hairs, no dapples, no random, ugly spots) and it's a beautiful length. His muscles are smooth and well formed, and he never had an awkward look about him, even now, when he's prone to growth spurs. The eyes are a surprising, shocking blue- almost Grey. Sadly, he's often dirty and thus, appears much uglier and unkempt. Novocaine looks like an unruly delinquent. His ears were once floppy, but since he was taken up as a fighting dog once, they were sloppily cropped. The guy didn't know what he was doing, so they still flop over half way, but are tattered from both the owner being a complete moron and other dogs ripping at them.
His expressions are confusing to follow because they change so frequently. Emotion often gets him into trouble, so he tries his hardest to cover them up and completely ignore them, but there's so many wound up feelings racing around in his head that he suffers physical torment, the main reason for his gross state. When those feelings finally break loose, everything is dramatic and overly expressive.
Nov is a street fighter. He's not badass, he's not proud, and he's not trying to influence anyone. He's an asshole. He's a prick. He hates his life style. He does what he has too to keep breathing. He does not want to die, and therefore, does not want to be caught getting landed with the first hit. He's a cheater, a dirty fighter, a person who'd rather hit you from behind. He's a streetrat. He knows what it feels like to spend hours cleaning his buddy's blood from some wall. He knows what it's like to stand on that buddy's grave, if that buddy was 'good' enough to get one.
His personality is twisted and confused since he was forced to behave certain ways, against what was naturally correct to him, and he's prone to breakdowns. These breakdowns are a danger to himself and everyone near him since he usually turns to violence and aggression. If Nova wants you to BACK UP, you better back up. He doesn't really give a damn about physical injuries to himself since the emotional insanity aside his head is so extreme, and is often in a sort of 'dream state' when being hit. He can zone out completely, which is little more then sleeping with his eyes open but still retaining awareness. He's there.... but at the same time, he's somewhere else. This isn't a smart thing to do, so he tries very hard to keep himself in check. He knows that if he zones out, he'll die. Nov, like I said before, does not want to die.
Nova was always caught in a painful drift- what he wanted and what he was taught. He was taught to endure, to sit back, take it and forget it happened. What he wants is something different. He WANTS to rip that club out of your hand and smack you with it until your brain leaks out of your ear. He WANTS to shove you off the highest cliff and watch you smash to pieces on the rocks below. He WANTS to make sure you will NOT hurt him again. He wants you to know that he is angry, it's your fault, and he wants you to pay for it. But he doesn't want to live like this, and he's so frustrated with himself that he often makes himself sick. He's not a bad kid; he just doesn't know what to do with himself or what to do with everyone else. He has no control and he doesn't like it, but he can't do anything about it. He's ADDICTED to fighting, to this way of survival; he knows it, and he hates it. Nova has terrible luck when it comes to changing himself- just when he seems to find something wonderful, it bites him in the face or is shattered by someone else's hands. Therefore, he tends to fall into slumps and depressions and is close to accepting this as 'the way it is', but he hasn't hit rock bottom yet. He's trying to change himself, he's trying so hard that it's ridiculous, but the fact of the matter is that if he pauses and gets preoccupied, he might not see the guy around the corner who wants to kill him for messing with some gang member.
The way Nov is relates back to how and where he grew up. He and his family were, more or less, amongst the stray, skinny 'dumb' mutts who raid the garbage and rip out throats for a scrap of meat. The violence, the murder, the viciousness and the primal behavior seriously impacted his psyche, and because there was no way out, the kid was drawn into the same sorta life. Walking down the street, looking back and forth, expecting someone to jump out at him for some reason, running from a gang of six dogs who want revenge for taking a bite out of a member's ear, dragging kicking and screaming buddies away from brawls, getting kicked and bitten while breaking up fights in the family- so began his wonderful livelihood.
