The coming of Summer had made the lands of Sallin unbearable, a warm stickiness was permeating everything with a layer of perspiration, whether it was animal, vegetable or mineral. It was enough to to drive any wolf to madness, and though Carter was strong willed, even he felt the rage of summer's heat finally getting to him.
The young Prince growled, and snapped his jaws at a mayfly that had decided to land on his muzzle, tearing it apart rather than to shoo it away. Making a face, Carter stood, trying to get the taste out of his mouth, however, sour as it tasted, it was nothing as sour as his mood.
It had been months since Sallin had done anything other than stagnating, and he couldn't stand it. He was the Prince of Sallin, a Warrior, he wanted to -do- something, and by this point, anything would do. But now, in these hotblooded days, his mind moved more towards mischief than it did good intentions.
He hadn't seen his mother, the Alpha, in awhile, and it seemed to him, that it was perfectly fine for him to do as he wanted in lo of there being no Beta in the land, and a devious little twinkle flashed in Carter's green eyes.
With smirk, the cocky young male howled, hoping to get a hold of any wolves in the area, the sound of his voice was playful, though dark, today seemed like the perfect day to play some war games...however Carter's dark mood seemed to lean more towards war, and less towards game...
But anything to blow off some steam...it was no good to sit around hot and frustrated.

Toxic Dolly's body rocked with heavy pants as she desperately tried to cool herself, breathing abrupt and bearing a foul chemical scent. It was far too hot today. The spot she lay in beneath a large tree presented shade, however the muggy humidity hung in the air, suffocating everything that lay within Sallin, including this large purple wolf and no amount of shade seemed to lift the crushing wall of heat. Dolly lifted her large boxy head and pointed it towards the sky, her green eyes squinting in the sunlight. She blinked and shook her head profusely as a glint of the light caught her good eye and she muttered a few choice words to herself. This sticky, clinging heat made the tattered wolf lethargic yet also incredibly irritable as she flicked her tail and snorted to herself. She'd not long been a part of this pack but she'd expected to cross the path of another member by now, all she'd encountered so far were the small prey animals she'd been picking over and the odd howl. Otherwise, she's seen hide nor hair of another wolf and unfortunately, her overactive and unpleasant little companion was slowly taking over again. Yes, she's been strong enough to tell herself that enough was enough back then but now, she was bored, frustrated and far too warm, her mind started to taunt her once more. Whilst not in the mood to listen to it, neither was she inclined to argue with it. ~Na, na, na na na, na... it sang, winding her up even more. ~It's enough to drive you...crazy! Enough to make you angry? it chided, much to the Toxic one's annoyance. She came to her feet clumsily, shaking dirt and shreds of grass from her mangled pelt and frowned.
"I'm not listening to you, I told you. I'm here for a reason, to shut you up once and for all." she mumbled, her soft feminine voice most unsuited to her haggard masculine appearance. "I'm going to distract myself, that way I won't have any time for you." she said, more to herself this time and upon breathing those words, her mind fell quiet once more. She smiled a sly smirk, it was rare for her to have been victorious in a battle with her own wits but she'd won that one and was most pleased with herself. She flicked her tail in smug satisfaction and proceeded to saunter away from her shaded spot, still grinning to herself. She was just in the process of considering a quick hunt when a nearby howl interrupted her unusually calm thoughts and she stopped in her tracks, ears perked up attentively. The prospect of another wolf enticed her towards the sound but as she studied it in her head, she once more came to a stop, pausing thoughtfully. That howl... it sounded male. It sounded mischievous somehow, perhaps even a little dark as if there was an ulterior motive to the call. In her experience, Male plus mischief plus dark equaled bad news. However, the howl sounded as if it came from a relatively young male wolf, so perhaps not as much a threat as she'd originally considered it. She stood in the smothering heat and nodded to herself decisively. She threw her head back, green mane billowing over her large bat like ears and let out a long, melodic howl in response.
At least if she bumped into another wolf, she'd have something to do, something to distract her from her own twisted, tormented mind.

The howl caught Carter's attention immediately, and he bristled, face curling up in a snarl. He didn't recognize he voice, and thus, his protective warrior instinct kicked in, trespassers in Sallin were not welcome.
The Prince was quick to move, following the sound like a beacon, he would look into this, and if need be, finish whatever the sentries were unable to do. He snapped his jaws as he ran, he was young, and hotblooded, but it would be wrong to underestimate a Warrior of Sallin, especially one personally trained by the Alphess herself.
When he finally came upon the intruder he winced, lifting his lip at the sight of her, on top of her gaudy colors, he could have sworn that it had been a female he had heard call...but obviously, he had been mistaken, this...this thing looked like ten miles of bad turf and seemed mad as a march hare. Carter smirked, his expression sly and catty, as he began to circle.
"What business do you have here mutt." he sniffed, she wasn't full wolf that was for sure, and his mother wouldn't like that. "Don't you know the penalty of trespassing in Sallin is death?" He snapped each word like a threat, his hackled raised but his expression still almost amiable, save for the sharp look in his green eyes.

Dolly paused, awaiting a reply to her howl, ears still pricked towards the sky and body taught. Nothing. She shook her head, frustrated. What was the use in being part of a pack if there was nobody for her to look up to? Then she heard it, the pounding of paws nearing her as she stood gormlessly in the clearing and looking pretty vulnerable. The sound excited her somewhat and her tail began to wag slowly and cautiously, feathered fur swishing from side to side almost gracefully (had it not been tangled with dirt and broken twigs). She looked all around her, the footfalls were swift and relatively light, they seemed to be coming from in front of her. A toothy grin spread across her broad, scarred muzzle and she sat on her haunches with a shake of her head. A strong male musk wafted towards her, tantalising her nostrils, it had been some time since she had encountered another wolf and whilst quietly cautious, she was certainly looking forward to this.
Soon, a tan coloured bundle of wolf belted towards her and slowed as he approached her immediate vicinity, his upper lip raised and a scowl upon his young face. Dolly felt a slight pang of worry deep inside her, he did look aggressive, what with hackles raised, teeth bared and a sly frown but she soon plucked herself up and smiled a quirky, sneering smile, flapping a fly away with her ear as she did so. The male adopted a stalking gait, circling the ugly lady and a smirk spread across his face, his stark green eyes burning into her straggly body.
"What business do you have here mutt." he snarled, sniffing at her, drinking in her vile chemical scent. Dolly didn't reply, she just sat, glancing at him everytime he crossed in front of her, that awkward sneering grin still plastered over her large, battered head. A wisp of her sickly green mane fell over one of her eyes and she flicked her head neatly in order to shoo it. "Don't you know the penalty of trespassing in Sallin is death?" he continued, his voice low and threatening as he snapped and snarled, still circling the enormous purple creature. Dolly smirked and nodded, licking her lips, she liked this one, he obviously had a great loyalty to his pack and was certainly very confident.
"Indeed I do." she replied, her voice soft, delicate and extraordinarily feminine in contrast to her appearance. She cleared her throat, coming clumsily to her feet in the prickly heat. "And as for my business? Well..." she started, shaking herself down and batting her eyelashes in a lazy manner. She smiled at him as he continued to circle her, for a young one, her certainly was imposing.
