(YES, I WISH TO MAKE THIS AS A MORE ENJOYABLE WAY OF SEEING HOW MANY MEMBERS ARE STILL ACTIVE IN SYNL. IF YOU HAVE A CHARACTER HERE BUT ARE BUSY WITH OTHER POSTS, LET ME KNOW. OTHERWISE, GROUP TOGETHER EVERYONE!! ;D)
It was a cool summer's night. Creepy in many ways, the moonlight, showing just barely through the trees, cast eiree shadows across the leaf-strewn floor. Clouds, so often seen in Synl, sometimes drifted across the white-gold orb in the sky, filtering the light. An owl hooted off in the distance, and sometimes even an occational wolf would howl. Who this wolf was, a Sallin wolf or just a loner, could be a bothersome thought. But not now. Not on such a night as this.
The night was so inspiring, so tantilizingly open for all to come by, that Sonny decided now was best. He hadn't had a story-night in forever, it seemed, not since...well, let's just say it was a long time. It would be different, if Kahvie didn't stop by. But tonight was just so irresistable!
He had tried to tell as many dogs as he could find, but it wasn't much now-a-days, with so many passing in, then out. But hopefully, they'd come. As many as could, anyways.
He looked around, his dotted snout moving about in curiousity. Where were they all? Maybe they got lost on the way? Or by chance, they just didn't know where to go...but still, you'd figure they'd all come by, right?
He sat back on his haunches with a thud, sighing in absolute boredom. He wanted to get to the stories already. But one just had to wait it out; they'd get there sooner or later. He preferred the first option, though.

For the past hour Nisse had been laying on his back, simply watching the sun sink and stray clouds drift by overhead. True to form, he was absolutely itching for something to do. Flopping back to his feet, he rose. A firm shake flung away most of the dirt and twigs his messy coat had accumulated, but various remnants of bits fallen from the trees still clung to him. And so he paced.
Though he was moving now, nothing was still happening. The time he had spent as of late in the lands hadn’t exactly proved lively. Besides his run-in with Shantik and Danny, he was yet to encounter any others – not even his own sister. He gave a yawn, giving little mind to the deep shadows or chill the night held. It was certainly dramatic, the mood that had swept over Synl, but Nisse was still bored out of his brain. The light of the full-moon made it easier to find a good path - not that that was a particular comfort nor concern. Maybe, he thought, it was time for another wander. Maybe he would find Fellen this time. Thoughts of her made him give a rare frown. It seemed like ages since he had seen his mate. Sallin had seemed just as dead as Synl in the passing months and his every stealthy visit in attempts to find her had been unsuccessful. The budding idea to leave again was quickly snuffed, however, when a rather familiar scent crossed his path.
Though still not in sight, the smell of the borzoi alpha was unmistakable. “Beav!” Nisse barked, tail whipping behind him. He had not bumped into his long-time friend earlier, and had no clue what was planned – it was perfect coincidence that he should find himself here now.

"Beav!"
Oh, no. He knew that voice. Sonny flinched, flicking his big ears somewhat, rolling the thought of confronting Nisse in his mind for a bit before sighing. He picked up his feet and strode out into the Beta's sight, letting out a somewhat weary laugh. As long as Kahvie's brother withheld whatever insults he felt might need throwing, this should be a breeze.
Cute fantasy...Not gonna happen.
Beaver sat down again, this time right across from Nisse, grinning. The thought that chased away his slight 'fear' of him was the memory of the 'special' day this might turn out to be. He switched his wavy tail and gave a mock bow to his companion. "Nisse." He snickered slightly, throwing out a cheerily pleasent tease-tone. "How has life been treating you?" He cast his gaze over his ragged fur. He could make a nice comment on that, but decided not to; he was always that scraggly. And he wasn't that mean.

What the little mutt had been doing the past few months even she couldn't say. Days turned into nights, nights turned into weeks, and yet all that time seemed like nothing. In reality, Kahvie had been away from the pack since autumn, wandering the villages and neutral territories. Not for any alpha-related reasons, of course; she had wanted to get away, to forget about her job as leader and live her life however she felt at the moment. Synl had hardly been active anyway...with Sallin's ever-increasing borders, the pack offered little protection from the wolves. In response, the majority of Synl's dogs had left the wine forest to find refuge in the villages, and so Kahvie had used that as an excuse to make herself feel better about taking off. Still, her brother and best friend called Synl their home, and it seemed like now was the time to reurn and reunite with the two.
"Beav!"
...Speak of the devil.
Nisse's voice sliced through the thick silence of the forest like a knife, causing Kahvie to whip her scraggly head around to face the direction of the source. Her brother sounded just as annoying as ever, and it was obvious the poor Beav was his newest victim. Well, at least the guys would now be much easier to find than Kahvie had previously expected. The mutt shook herself as she trotted off to follow the two male voices that were just barely audible through the trees, both getting slightly louder as she neared them. About halfway to her destination however, the little dog slowed, eventually coming to a stop just beyond the sight of the others. What the hell was she going to say to them? After being away for so long, she couldn't just stroll up to them and act like she'd been hanging around the territory all along. They'd have questions, concerns, even criticizms...
...Oh, well. It was too late to turn back, in any case. The mutt's scent had no doubt reached the two males by now, and they'd be quick to seek her out if she didn't make herself known first. Sighing, Kahvie took the last remaining steps needed to reach Nisse and Beaver, not making eye contact with either as they came into view.
Please, don't let them make a big deal outta this. "Hi, guys."

And out strode the alpha male – better known to Nisse as his bizarre looking friend, Sonny. Not that he ever called him that – it was always Beaver or, better yet, Beav. The recollection of the memory of whatever event it was where the borzoi was dubbed as such had faded some time ago, but the new name always stuck.
"Nisse." He snickered slightly, throwing out a cheerily pleasant tease-tone. "How has life been treating you?"
The mutt rolled his eyes playfully. His jaw dropped open to make some smart ass comment about how he didn’t know what he’d done to piss life off so much when something else caught his attention. Someone else. Nisse settled his gaze on the equally scruffy borzoi. He raised a brow. Nothing needed to be said, but he spoke up anyway. “Smell that?” There was only . A devious grin slunk it’s way across Nisse’s maw.
Right on cue out slunk his sister.
The brother stared blankly at her. All part of his ruse. “Oh. My. GAWD!” he yelped loudly, the over-the-top tone painfully obvious in his voice “Beav – it’s a ghost! Kahvie has returned to us from the dead!” Nisse flailed dramatically about this way and that, exaggerating the mock fear and surprise. His skidding feet sent half-decomposed ruby leaves flittering up, only adding to the atmosphere.
Finally, after much mucking about, he could take the mockery no more. With a hearty laugh he trotted back to his companions. Indeed, she would not be hearing the end of this. “Tut tut, sister dear. And just where do you think you’ve been, hmm? Shirking your responsibilities?” Not that he was one to talk. But then that’s what made the whole thing amusing.
[*wince* Bad. But I'm exhausted D: Sorry guys.]

“Smell that?”
Beav frowned, quite sure Nisse was pulling his leg and would add a snot-nose comment after his words, but paused in his suspicions to scent the air. Wait a minute...he knew that scent. Of course, it was so familiar, more, even than his own. Turning his head, a joyous grin on his face, he faced Nisse's sister when she walked into his veiw. His grin immedietly widened. Kahvie!
Sonny frankly ignored Nisse's totally expected snot-nose comment, merely shooting him a glare before turning back to his partner-in-crime, er...leadership, yeah - walking up to her. "Now, now, Nisse, I'm sure she had reason...I mean, it's only been, what...four months? Or I am I missing a few in there?" He chuckled, shooting Nisse a glance before turning back to Kahvs. "Sorry, Kahvs, but you were sort of asking for it..." He stepped back from her slightly, folding his hind legs under him, plopping into a sit.

He didn't know a lot of the members of Synl, Redwood wasn't exactly a social butterfly. For a majority of the day, he'd wandered about, watching the sun rise and fall. It would have been boring to any other, but for some reason he just found it relaxing. It was nice to slow down after all that traveling he'd done before. But then, travels made for good stories.
He heard the summon from someone, he couldn't actually remember who. They'd just kind of happened upon him, asked his name, told him about the meeting thing, and went off on their own way. He couldn't even recall if it had been a girl or a boy. But here he was, making his way towards the clearing or whatever. He already heard voices, at least two. Kahvie...That was the alphess right? He hadn't been accepted by her, rather that nice corgi, Anna. In fact, he didn't really ever remember meeting any of the more higher ups. I should really be more of a packmember. he thought to himself. In truth, he was probably gone more the Kahvie was. But here was a small chance to make it up, if only his nerves would let him go any farther then a few yards away.

Everything was strangely quiet now. Jakobi walked slowly with his head slightly bowed. He walked looking down at his paws for no reason except that he didn't feel like lifting his head to look around. He heard the slight rustle of leaves and his own steps, nothing else. This was strange, very strange a borzoi had appeared and simply said to come to a place that he couldn't remember right now, so he had mostly guided himself by scent. He cursed that he hadn't payed much attention right now he would have probably remembered the place.
The mutt lifted his head to see a few clouds overhead, at least where the wine colored leaves allowed the sky to be seen. He snorted, what to do? As if answering his question he caught the scent of a few dogs not so far away. He walked a bit more determined and a bit more faster towards the scent. He probably would get to meet his pack mates, maybe that would lighten his mood.
-"Sorry, Kahvs, but you were sort of asking for it..."
He straightened his head, that was the voice of the male that had told him to come here. Kahvs...that was the alpha, right? No matter, he told himself. He walked slowly towards the clearing and emerged from within the trees with a sort of casualty. He simply nodded to each of the dogs in turn, not wanting to speak, always carrying the same expression, none.
