The port of Rakine were new to Liam. It was broad daylight, the sky a brilliant blue, reflecting off the sparkly greeny-blue sea that streched out in front of him.
He sat on a small pier, his feet submerged in the water. Many strays wandered the streets, possibly a starved wolf, or half bred. The salty smell of the sea rushed past him suddenly, his dark hair shifting slightly.
He closed his eyes, leting the rest of his senses wake to the world that surrounded him. Leaning back slighly, with his wieght rested on his arms, he sighed; Peaceful.. Maybe a little too much..

Karleigh
She walked around the Port rather aimlessly, pausing to watch a light-coloured dog with dark ears scuttle around, looking rather busy. The girl wondered whether dogs had leaders too. If they did, then that female dog definitely was a leader. Her dress flowing around her as she walked, she suddenly caught sight of a figure at the end of a pier, looking rather peaceful. Karleigh grinned. It was her twin brother, Liam.
Sneaking up behind him silently, she paused to grin evilly over his shoulder where he couldn't see. He was closing his eyes. What a retard. Leaning back then pushing forward suddenly, shoving her brother towards the water, Karleigh grinned, her eyes sparkling playfully. She hadn't pushed hard enough to make Liam fall into the water, but near enough. This would be fun.
Fainéant
It was day. Kinda boring. He had wandered so many places, done so many things... Flicking his white-tipped tail, the Border Collie yawned, forcing his lazy self to his white paws. Urgh. He had to do something. The Alpha here, Faline, would bite his head off if he stayed too long. Trotting around, his tail held high and his warm-blue eyes sparkling in the sun, he looked over the piers. Heh. Not much here.
Suddenly spotting two figures at the end of a smaller pier, a growl grew from his throat as he saw the second start to push the other. Raising his tail and leaping into a fast lope, he snarled and shoved the second figure over, pushing her down and pinning her, growling right into her face. Hopefully he'd get spit over her. That'd be funny, hah. He had heard some humans were fussy.
Fainéant wasn't usually aggressive. But if one creature was trying to harm another and not for any real purpose... then he had to interfere. Watching as the sparkle went out of the human's eyes, he started to wonder whether he had made a mistake, and whether she had just been playing around. Oh well. He'd stay there anyway. Humans made good cushions.

(ooc: NICE! XD) Liam was caught off guard. KARLI... he was cut off, he'd reached the water sooner than expected. He tried to dive in, but the water was too close, ending up in a huge splash. Sinking deeper, he saw a Border Collie bound up to Karleigh Bowling her over. He grinned under water, until he stupidly relised he needed to brethe. He pulled himself upwards,I'm gunna get you soooOooo bad..just you wait. running his hands through his wet hair, he dipped his mouth in the salty water, taking a large mouthful of it.
Liam's clothes were wet drenched, the water running freely off his pants, though the gaps between the wooden planks of the pier and back into the sea. He took a few steps toward Karleigh, his mouth firmly shut. The border collie had pinned her down, her expression was priceless, she looked ridiculous. He tried hard not to laugh at the sight, but couldnt hold it, and the sea water went everywhere, more so in the direction of Karliegh.
He sat cross-legged next to her, and the black and white collie. "Orange tips ay?"he smiled, dipping his head aprovingly, "Great team work." "As for you..." He looked slyly at his twin sister...."I just hope my pal here, stays right where he is." Glancing at the wolf tooth necklace around her neck, he made a grab for it, planing to run off with it, if that is she didnt slap him before he could take it.

Karleigh
A stifled scream escaped from Karleigh's mouth, even though it was more of a startled laugh. She could see and feel a huge lump on her, and spit getting all over her face. Ew. "Get off me! I was just trying to have fun! Geeeez."
"I just hope my pal here, stays right where he is."
She shoved the dog off her and tried to stand, before Liam grabbed at her necklace. Her leg darted forwards and caught him behind the knee, aiming to topple him over again. She wasn't that stupid. Sticking a tongue out at her twin brother, looked over to the dog and looked into the dog's eyes. Could he understand her speech, or actions?
Fainéant
Grr. Stupid humans. As he stood upon the female human, he almost started to laugh at himself. She had definitely been joking. Still, the other human was soaking, and he didn't look too happy... although it was hard to tell with humans. Their ears couldn't move, and they had no tails. Heh.
As he was pushed off, he shook out his fur. He didn't like that girl staring right into his eyes, but he didn't show any hostility.
"Orange tips ay? Great team work."
The speech seemed to be coming from the other human, the male. He could barely understand him, but he broke out into a grin and waved his tail about vigorously, nosing the human's foot playfully.

Liam laughed "Calm down sis, s' not as is I have.. rabies" He rolled his eyes at her, stepping aside, narrowly avoiding another public embarrassment. He screwed hie face up, then pouted..." Don't treat the poor thing like that!" He looked down at the dog.. "Ok, not so poor, and maybe more Dog than thing." He shrugged, and knelt down, rubbing the Border Collie, just behind its ears.
"hmmmmm.... You gotta name?" he ran his hand down to a light blue collar that hung loosely between the long fur of the Collie's neck. A small silver seemed to stick to the clip of the collar. As he tried to grab hold of it, he looked up at Karliegh smugly "AT LEAST... I can read..." His hand was fully tugging at the tag now, it seemed to be welded ont the clip, "Sorry kid," He pulled the collar round, the tag in full view..
"Woahhh" The tag was gloweing a light blue colour. Liam leaned in, his eyes narrowing, trying to read the letters on the tag.."Fal...Fai....OWWwwwww!" He tried to pull his hand back, but he couldnt, it was as if a magnetic force had bound him to the dog... whos name started with F.

Karleigh
She looked over at the dog, trying not to laugh. The animal seemed attached to her brother... already. Heh. She'd have to live with him. Maybe even make friends. But she wasn't going to let him win... yet.
"Calm down sis, s' not as is I have.. rabies"
Karleigh snorted. "You know you do, Liam! You can't deny it," she said, poking her tongue out. Leaning her forearm on her bent knee so her hand hung down, she studied the dog. Hmm. She'd seen that breed before. Border Collie? Yep, that was it. He was a Border Collie. "Hey, smartie-pants, do you know what breed this dog is?" she said spitefully. Watching him take hold of a tag on the dog's buckle, her eyes widened as he fully tugged at it.
"Liam! You're gonna hurt the dog!" she cried, completely worried now. She knew her brother would never willingly hurt an animal, but still... Her thoughts abruptly ending as she noticed that the tag was glowing, she leant forward. "Glowing...?" she said, her voice now almost a whisper, narrowing her eyes too. She couldn't quite get the name... "Fain... Faineant... it has a funny dot on the E. Hmm...." She bet Liam knew how to pronounce that thing.
"OWWwwwww!"
Karleigh leapt back as her brother yelled out, jumping to her feet. "Liam?"

Waving his tail faster as the boy scritched him behind the ear, the Border Collie leant forward to lick at his face. He liked this human. He hadn't really had an opinion about them before, but he had heard tales that they were evil. Well, this one definitely didn't seem evil. Closing his mouth to hide his tongue, he tried to see what the human was doing.
Feeling his collar being shifted around, it felt strange, because certain parts of it were colder than others, and those parts now shifted to the parts that had once been warm. Shaking his head a little, he could feel a strong tug, and a slight whine escaped his mouth. Huh? Something was glowing. Down there. But he couldn't see. Stupid head. It didn't go far enough. What's glowing? What's the human doing to me? he thought, starting to panic just a little. Trying to pull away for either the human's or his own sake, or both, he found that he couldn't. He was stuck to the human!!
Shaking his head more, he felt so restricted. The surroundings suddenly felt dull as the glow became so strong and bright. He was almost blinded by it... Whining a little more, he wondered if jumping into the water would do anything. Even though he didn't want to get the human any wetter than he already was.

Liam tried pulling his hand back again. This time an acute chill shot up his arm, before he stumbled back, cradling his hand. "Stupid dog, Why'd you hurt me for!" Liam glared at the dog, before seeing to his hand. Blood dripped freely from the clenched fist.
He bit his lip slighty as he uncurled his hand, a hardned burn had formed, he'd been branded like cattle. The shape of the tag was imprinted into the fleshy part of his hand below the thumb, distorted letter shapes ate further into his hand.
Crouching by the jetty, he forced his hand into the sea water, cursing under his breath as the salt water stung the open wound. His hand was searingly painful, and he clenched his teeth, forcing himself to keep it in the water. Pulling it out, he looked upon it again, it was raw and red, it seemed to sizzle because of the salt. He looked up to Karleigh "Well.. What you standing there for! Help me!..." he remarked before calmly adding, "Bandages would be nice..." he smiled painfully.

Karleigh
Looking in concern at her brother, she didn't know what to do or say. For once. She could see blood dripping from his hand, and watched as he slowly opened his fist. The shape of the tag imprinted on his skin made her cringe. Ouch.
"Stupid dog, Why'd you hurt me for!"
Karleigh suddenly went from compassionate to angry. "Liam! How could you blame the dog?! Even I know that it was the dog's fault. Faineant, or whatever his name was. Geez. I thought you'd have more sense than that!"
"Well.. What you standing there for! Help me!..."
Liam's new string of words made Karleigh look drily at her brother. She would never help him. The only problem was that she was his sister. And his twin sister. Who said siblings were meant to be helpful to each other, she grumbled, as she went into a fast sprint to see if any nearby fishermen had any bandages.
((Karleigh will return in two of my posts' time))

Fainéant
Shaking his head as he felt deep cuts through the back of neck from where the collar had dug into his flesh, the Border Collie looked slightly spiteful as he saw the male human. The tone of the human's voice had blared loud and clear that he was blaming Fain for what had happened to his hand. Who said that he had to go and look for my name, anyway? It's honestly his fault... Realising that blaming others wouldn't get him anywhere, he decided just to make the human realise for himself that it wasn't Fain's fault.
Watching as the human washed his hand, he almost laughed. That'd hurt. Salt in a wound. Hearing a strange sizzling noise as the human took his hand out of the water, the dog looked slightly taken aback. Now that was strange. What had been glowing on his collar? Pity he couldn't see. And he'd have to wait for a long while until the water settled again, after the human had stuck his hand into the water.
Hopefully he wouldn't harm any others. He sat on his haunches with a soft phloomph, and waited for the girl to return. She'd probably be back soon. For now, Fain didn't like the male human much anymore.

Liam slumped agaisnt one of the pylons that held the pier up. He glared at the dog. "Thanks, y'know? I reallly appreciate your... I dunno, look! I'm branded!" He held up his hand, for the dog to see..
Who said that he had to go and look for my name, anyway? It's honestly his fault...
"Who said I had to go look at your name?!" Liam rolled his eyes at Fainéant. " You're the one who came and decided to BOUND up to my sister.... woah.. wait.."Realiseing what he had just answered to, he looked around, the segulls flocked the open airs, and the sailors returning from travels were busying themselves unpacking, and reloading cargo. It was Him and Fainéant. I am going Crazy. Liam thought, smirking. "What ever Fayne.. Fien, fine.. whatever...I've spent way too long studying, and not enough time in the sun." he looked away from the dog, facing the end of the pier, waiting for his clothes to dry.

He sat there, his tail behind him and not moving. His gaze rested on the human, a strange resentment, yet in a way, bond, forming with him. Is this how domestic dogs can cope, being -owned- by someone? Hah. Owned. A funny word, he thought, the train of thoughts in his mind going round and round and up and down.
"Thanks, y'know? I reallly appreciate your... I dunno, look! I'm branded!"
No need to show me again, I've seen it enough times.. he thought drily, but his thoughts abruptly stopped when the human replied to what he had thought before. Yipping in slight confusion, he tilted his head to one side, ears perked.
"What ever Fayne.. Fien, fine.. whatever...I've spent way too long studying, and not enough time in the sun."
Rolling his eyes ever so slightly, Fain suddenly stopped. How had he understood the human? A growl growing deep in his throat, he backed up a little with his hind legs before flopping onto his belly.

" A dog.. just rolled his eyes at me...This is bad." He looked round for Karleigh, Where was she? Liam looked at the dog.
No need to show me again, I've seen it enough times..
"Say what? " he said in a flat tone. "You are one strange dog... Maybe you have some OVERSIZED dog brain.. emiting strange 'thought' auras... or I'm superly smart, WHICH I highly doubt, and can telepathically transmit messages to you." He tried to reason with himself before pausing. "hmmmmmmm... " He looked at a stray dog, narrowing his eyes, concentrating on the dogs 'auora'. CAN YOU HEAR ME. MY NAME IS LIAM. The dog continued on, sniffing at sundried fish that had escaped the market stalls. 'stupid' he muttered, piffing a pebble at the dog, narrowly missing the dogs head.
"I guess it's you an me. Fain?" he smiled lopsidedly. I should drink something.. I'm talking to DOGS. [/b][/center]

" A dog.. just rolled his eyes at me...This is bad."
Sighing exasperatedly and rolling over and over, he suddenly found himself on the edge of the pier, so he rolled back. Perhaps one would think he had fleas, but he was bored. Having humans think he was so stupid wasn't fun. Not that he had proved anything by nearly rolling into the sea.
"... or I'm superly smart, WHICH I highly doubt,"
"Yeah, seems like you're more superly dumb," Fain said out loud, knowing the human wouldn't be able to understand his dog-speech anyway. But... maybe he could understand anyway? Fain could understand what the human was saying, but did he know what the human was thinking? The human could understand Fain's thought, but maybe not speech. Hmm.
CAN YOU HEAR ME. MY NAME IS LIAM.
Leaping up and yelping, he fell in a heap of black and white (and orange) fur, which somehow fixed itself into a momentary defensive stance. "Geez, what was that for?! You nearly busted my ear drums. Humans, tch." Although Liam hadn't been directing his speech towards him, Fain could hear it loud and clear. Maybe too loud.
Then a pebble came flying towards him.. Fain could almost hear the pebble say 'Wheeee!' as it flew through the air and narrowly missed his head. Now that was too far. Snarling and bounding towards the human, he leapt towards Liam and aimed at his chest. His aim was good, and his body mass strong enough to knock the human down. "Talk about animal cruelty.." he breathed under his breath as he powered through the air.

Karleigh
She had rushed past all the fishermen, shouting and calling requests for bandages. She was still concerned about her brother, and unaware of the conversation he was having with the dog they had met just before. Running as far as the marketplace, Karleigh had finally managed to find a bandage on a stall. Grabbing it and having no time to pay, she had an angry mob following after her for a while, but she had managed to lose them, or their interest. A roll of bandage wasn't that expensive anyway.
Running towards the sea again, she skidded to a stop and looked this way and that. Which pier was it?! There were so many small ones, with people and dogs on the ends of them. Spotting the ungainly figure of her brother throw something towards the dog, she rolled her eyes as she neared the pier and descended down it. "Friggin Liam. Animal cruelty."

"Woahhh!" Liam frantically looked for somewhere to roll away. He looked over the right, and glimpsed Karleigh running toward the pier, and what seemed to be an angry mob. Not that he had time to look. He was pinned to the pylon he was leaning against by a mass of black and white fur.
Ignoreing the first question, Liam tryed to push the dog off, "Don't you AN-I-MAL cruelty me. Now would be the time I would normally show you the scar, but No, you've seen it enough times. THINK of the HUMANS HERE! Look, I'm wet. Again. For the second time today. Thanks." The water dripped freely from the dogs fur My turn to roll my eyes.
He looked to Karleighs way, Hurry Up!!!. He stared back at the Collie. "Just you wait..." he stated, annoyed.

Oof. Fain stretched his suddenly cramped leg out as he rolled over on Liam. He hadn't exactly landed right. We like rolling around a lot, he thought drily. He was being very sarcastic around these humans. They had a strange influence on him… he wasn’t usually like this!
Not willing to move off his victim, he moved into a sitting position to pinpoint his weight on Liam’s chest. Paperweight for humans. That’d teach him not to shout so much. Not that Fain knew why he could understand the human. Suddenly spotting the girl that had rushed off before, he wondered if she’d side with him, or her friend. Giving his best puppy look, he hoped he’d appeal to her somehow. It was a little hard when he was dripping water all over Liam and sitting right on him.
Karleigh
She couldn’t help but laugh when she saw the Border Collie seated firmly on her brother. Serves him right, for being so mean to the poor dog, she thought, before walking towards him and looking down at her brother. ”Here’s your bandages, O Master,” she said, shaking her head and speaking in a mocking tone. ”And his royal dog, I thank you for your most kindly services,”
She didn’t feel in the last bit stupid. She felt that the dog could understand her. Somehow. Who knew? But he did. And therefore, that gave her rights to talk to him. Now to wonder whether she should put her foot in her brother’s mouth, or be a spoilsport for herself…

"Urgh.."he graoned as the dog shifted his wieght. "Do you mi...Fwoahhhh" Liam waved his hands and arms about as he got a mouthful of the dogs fur. He lay still, giving up, he'd simply wait for him to move. Liam glared up at Karleigh. "Why thankyou. " he took the bandage from her, attempting to bind up the burn, which had seemingly twined around in thick black vines, or writing, of which he didn't understand, up to his elbow, and to the ring that he wore on his right thumb. "What the..." He dropped the bandages, and tried to force the dog off.
"Is that just me? Or can you see it too?" he held his arm out the Karleigh, a mixture of awe and horrow in his expression. "Ha, good, you brought some freinds, Maybe they can help me." he was refferign the the angry mob that had followed her. " But first, this Fain, needs to get off, before I start talking to him again."
