The sun beat down on the docks, a though it was a beautiful day, rather mild with the cool salt breeze coming off the seas. It was murder to Viernes...whose pale eyes could barely deal with the sensation of overwhelming lightblindness.
But she wouldn't let nature get its way. The young sighthound mix had gotten off the ship and snuck against a leanto by one of the shipping stations. Smiling to herself as though she had just dodged a bullet, Viernes clucked her tongue happily, plopping on her haunches to take a bit of a rest. Moonlighting as a ship dog was tiring work, and she was more than happy to be done with it. Let seadogs stay seadogs, she was ready for a new adventure.
With a yawn she curled closer to the shade her tail wagging contently as she started daydreaming about what she'd do next...

A little rodent was currying by, when the scent of a predator reached its little nose. His face wrinkled and he scurried close to a crate, peering through one of the holes in the side. This little mouse, as he were, had been scrounging for food before this dog had come. Licking his tender little mitts, he brushed his forehead, and puffed out his chest. Oh how big dogs like that got on his nerve! They were so lazy, and seemingly just plonked themselves down whether they pleased!
But what could he do? Mouse was nothing but an inferior creatures, hardly the size of this beast paws. How could he do anything? As far as he was aware, dogs didn't eat vermin. Or at least, he had not witnessed such in his short time of being on this earth. His cute beady eyes shone slightly as he crouched beneath a gap in the crate, edging himself closer to the female, he wanted to better see her. If he could see clearly himself, she was wincing her eyes shut due to the light of the sun that shone so brilliantly above.
A slight squeak, pathetic in all, erupted from his mouth, as he wandered to her rear. The grey and black spotted mouse circled the rear of the dog, wandering how on earth she could scale this obstacle. The rodent licked to be up high. Several times before had he stood on the back of a bigger animal such as this, and scanned the heights he would not normally, have been able to witness. Being as dumb as it was, the animal then scampered to the front of the dog, and sniffed around at its paw. It is so big, he thought, and climbed on the mitt, looking around like all was well.
[ Uh... totally random o-o... ]

Shaking her head to get out of her trance Viernes looked down to the slight new weight on her paw. The tiny little mouse was a blur to her sight in her faded light sight. Poking her nose close the sighthound took a quick whiff and gave the little beast a smile. "Am I in your way?" she almost seemed to purr.

The little rodent whom had once been hiding behind the crate, and was now situated on the fore left mitt of the dog, squeaked of fright, as the dog turned to look at her. The eyes of the canine were so large, and this mouse swore, he could see his reflection on the looming orbs. The shaking of the head gave the mouse reason to flee from the paw, and hide behind the big dogs elbow. Although its body was still shown, at least he could not see the domestic one's eyes no longer. They scared the inferior creature, frightening the life almost of him.
The nose that was thrust at her, that then had its nostrils flaring curiously, made the mouse's ears pull back. Slowly he emerged, so that he may be prodded by the ebony nose of leather, and have its scent taken in by the sight hound. Looking closer, those eyes appeared glazed, and the vision appeared not perfect. Shaking his own little head, the mouse said nothing, as wind was blown between hi large round lobes by the bigger animal. What came next, a more soft that harsh voice, came from the female dog as she lay in the shade.
"Am I in your way?"
What? Uh, no, thought the little animal, looking with wide eyes. The sound was soft, but yet it was loud, booming, making him flinch and curl into a tight ball. His tail shivered, slinking by his side, flicking slightly at the tip. Was he about to be eaten? Was the superior mammal toying with him? Perhaps a hasty retreat would be of the wisest decisions, but he could not have himself removed from the presence of the canine. Saying not a word, the mouse lay curled in a tight ball, shaking in fear, hoping the dog would not hurt him.

The small shivering rodent was nothing more than a fuzzy little blur to Viernes...who didn't pick up most of the details of the little beast. However she could sense its fear. "What are you so jumpy about?" she lifted a blow curiously, dipping her face in for an even closer look.
"I was just wondering if I hurt you...I'm sorry if I did....I mean...you'll be alright...right?" The mouse's lack of reply worried the sighthound a little, she hadn't really seen much of rodents where she came from...her family probably ate them. But then again she wasn't protecting any crops. So she wouldn't bother eating a mouse. Besides it was so small, hardly a meal.

If the mouse had been looking at the sighthound, she would have seen the cocked brow, raised to its jumpy actions. Pulling back his ears and folding them upon his head, the mouse squeaked, and tried to drown the noise of the dog's booming voice. The breath of the mutt as she peered closer to the ball was felt down the mouse's spine, and he peaked over his side. "I was just wondering if I hurt you...I'm sorry if I did....I mean...you'll be alright...right?" Silence remained with the rodent, and he rolled away from the dog. Distance, he wanted distance. Oh why did he come so close? No doubt he would be eaten, despite the fact that the dog had decided in its mind, not to eat him. Whining, the mouse scurried away, to the back of the dog, and leaped over its tail. Even if the dog was not going to eat the mouse, the mouse did not know that. He did not understand the language spoken by the mutt, basically because he had never spoken to another before. Having had its parents die when he was young, he knew not a lot, but believed that now was the time to run away. Hiding behind the dogs tail, he watched her for a moment, before ducking behind it, getting ready to flee. [ OMG I just realised that I had wrote 'fucking' instead of 'ducking' for the bold word Sorry! ]

Such a twittery, nervous little animal, Viernes couldn't tell if the little mouse couldn't understand her or was too worried to care. She frowned, that was no good at all, the little beast would give itself a heart attack. And its death, well seh didn't want that on her conscious. It would just be pointless. Maybe he had some wild sickness...more over a reason why not to eat it.
THe sighthound lifted a lip in a moment lip turn of a shudder. "Roedor nervioso, tranquilo, tranquilo..." she soothed, hoping that the 'rabid' thing wouldn't bite her.

The noise of the dog was enough to make the mice cringe at first, but now, it felt deaf, and a ringing noise persisted to sound in his ears, he turned around and put his hands over his head. Peering over isr shoulder, he looked sadly at the sighthound and then scurried away from it. No longer did the animal wish to hear such thunderous noises coming from the dog's maw, especially words which he did not understand.
The mouse would be seen running off to a pile of fish nets, and he would crawl into them. That dog had frightened the life out of it, but being so stupid and inferior, he had stayed to be defeaned. Shaking his head, and bristling his fur, he clambered through the netting and out of sight of the sighthound. The little mouse was gone.
[ Sorry for the late reply x.x Someone else can join in this thread now, because the lil mousey is gone =P ]
