a lone husky shook his head and put his paw on his head top. "Days...four days...ugh four frigging' days and still here how can I get out from here" orange and white male husky complained walking on. He knew that he was only survivor from the ship that sunk. His mind complained about it. The husky let out a tired moan in small annoyance. His blue eyes looked around the forest, it was nice in his mind though. Through his mind ran through many things, now for the first one, where the heck he have arrived now? Speedy , was the huskies name but mainly he have got in use everyone calling him Spiidi since it became from the accent.
Quietly the husky remain walking forward not bothering to sniff at the air. His mind was thinking his mother, his father and whoever he met during his life but they were in the past now. Sigh escaped from the husky's maw but he remain walking. Speedy looked at the tree trunks and then at the sky for a while. "I wonder where I am...?" he asked again from himself feeling the wind blow against his fur. It was just a slight breath of wind since the forest surrounding him swallowed most of it though the wind had smell of salt in it- attraction woke up inside the husky's heart but it calmed down rather quickly. Perhaps this wasn't the right place for the husky to be...he was not that wild, he was more domestic type of a dog.
2 feet long and about 45 kilos heavy body he owned- not that it did annoy him. His auds perked up quickly as he stared at the signs farer. "Harbor" he muttered to himself and stared around his sides before padded toward it. A warm scent of food tickled his nostrils. "Food..." he whispered. His pacing quickened as he finally ran toward the first buildings. His stomach snarled already for food and he kinda hoped to catch some for himself- if he found any.
The port was beautiful sight for him. He walked a little forward stopping to see mutts on the streets, perhaps some wanderers like he were. He swallowed deeply before entered to the dock areas trying to locate some scraps or whatever could be found. However after five minutes of looking he found nothing. It was already dark and a little storming around harsh wind ripped his body sending cold shivers through his orange and white pelt. Cold whine erupted out from his maw before he quickly sneaked behind few creates to find some shelter. He leaned against them and breathed weakly. He was exhausted.
"Boy if I starve here..." He whispered. Mostly he was glad he found a human area, he loved to see them once again but none of them would surely help him- a dirty husky who looked like a street dog. He wondered if here were anyone who could give him few pieces of advice for him. The collar of his jiggled, the plate was loosened once again. "I'm quite unable to repair that" Speedy muttered to himself before just stared along the docks behind the two creates. Cold wind made him shiver. Speedy's body quivered as he laid himself down to curl up to make himself a fluffy and dirty ball of orange and white fur. He wished to warm himself, his fur wasn't in the perfect condition that's why it didn't held the cold away from his skin...

The darker colored and taller husky was trotting along like he owned the harbor as everyone else; dog or man was seeking shelter inside their houses and stores, the less fortunate cowering under the docks and crude shelters made of discarded shipping crates.
Spending a lot of time in Siberia both in his military career and life as a wanderer after that- this was nothing. Just a little sprinkle. He would like to see the residents weather a Siberian Blizzard, Ha!
Only the most dedicated of guard dogs were still at their posts on the docks, other then that the port was practically empty.
Since everything was wet, trying to spot anything by scent was harder as well. Yarrick was soaked to the bone but his thick fur insulated well- if nothing this actually felt refreshing, and the rain was a lot cleaner then the salty water of the port as well.
Yarrick paused for a moment as he spotted a ball of brightly colored fur cowering behind two crates. He advanced towards it and noticed another Husky, of brighter fur coloration shorter in height the husky was rather pudgy and likely weighed as much or more then the larger, trim and muscular Husky that was now peering over the crates at the younger husky.
It was clear by his build and a tattered collar that this husky was at least fairly recently someone’s pet. He had been sheltered and pampered and this was likely one of his first times out in the cold alone. He huffed to himself. Though he also had a faded collar and had at one time been a “companion” he never considered himself a “pet” he was put to work same as any other solider when combat came or the army moved, this was clearly not the case with the young one.
Compassion not one of his strongest suits, Yarrick almost turned around and left. But things were changing in the older husky, he was slowly becoming less of a brittle old war veteran, as this harbor was unlike any other place he had been.
He wasn’t constantly on the run, and although he still had to be careful of who he trusted- the local lot seemed a lot more friendly then the wolves and communist dogs that hunted him in Russia. He sighed slightly and dismissed this thought, but it was enough to make him turn around and glance back at the younger, shivering husky, of which he was now standing over.
Yarrick never the best with words tried to talk to the other Husky as simply as possible “You wet, Da? It’s not dat bad. Been much worse. Not much of a chance of getting to a fire for scavengers though” he paused and glanced down at him, noting the dirt on the younger Husky’s coat. The young Husky had likely been wandering for a few days, not long enough to change his physical appearance but long enough to tatter his collar and dull his fur. “Come Comrade. Let us find a place, out of Rain, Da?”
Yarrick remained still, giving the younger husky a chance to get up and decide what he wants to do, as he perked his soaked wet ears, awaiting a response.

Speedy's form was gaining warmth and he begin to groom his fur into better condition- this really was nothing but his fur's weak condition and his hunger wasn't the best thing in such a cold conditions. He smiled at himself warmly thinking himself in a warm room named "Sauna" however he had none around, he thought that the Swedish people didn't even know what was Sauna.
He had a idea of changing the spot but the warmth there was enough for him to try and take a nap at the place. Slowly dreaming off for a moment of the time thinking his life- ah what a wonderful life. His mind reminded himself as a guard along the Communistic area in Helsinki- Helsinki was raided by the assistance of the Imperial German by the time. He murred at the though his home land was free and the patriotic husky would breath the white air again, now on his way toward Stockholm the ship hit to a old The Great War's mine and blow off and sunk. He cursed at it- something sunk the ship and he thought that it was an old mine.
Suddenly his ears snaped upward- someone was nearby. His fur stood a little as he was awaiting an mutt to pop in and bite down on him- who ever it would be that dog or wolf would face some troubles from him! Suddenly he saw a husky- taller than he was and more muscular standing in front of him. He stared at the husky with slight awe.
“You wet, Da? It’s not dat bad. Been much worse. Not much of a chance of getting to a fire for scavengers though”
Eyes widened as he heard the accent the husky used. He stared at the dog like it was a curse from Lenin's army. His maw open, the collar flashed a picture of a nicely made "S" (Suojeluskunta Protection Army). His shock was larger than the dog would believe- A Russian dog?! Speedy kinda hated everything from Russia- he didn't trust the communists anymore- not after the civil War what he experienced as a pup.
“Come Comrade. Let us find a place, out of Rain, Da?”
Still not saying anything the husky finally decided to SAY something. "Spasiba Tovaritsh, I'd gladly get out from the Rain you Russki sivinja!, I'm Finnish and I don't like you" husky snapped before stood up- but gladly accepted the husky's offer from a warmer place. In a unknown way Speedy knew few words in Russia, when he was a pup he had few days with Russian forces that Soviet Union sent to support Finland's Red army.
Slowly he walked forward next to the more experienced husky- he looked like a guard made in Siperia- he was perfectly a Siperian husky "You Politruk?" Speedy suddenly questionated looking into the husky's eyes "Ponimaj? Politruk?" he asked coldly meaning Political soldiers of Communistic Soviet Union- it was obvious that these two huskies would NOT have that warm moments in a shelter...

"Spasiba Tovaritsh, I'd gladly get out from the Rain you Russki sivinja!, I'm Finnish and I don't like you"
Yarrick sighed when he heard this. Apparently there were still enemies here still. He certainly did not need the other Huskie’s help for survival, and the coldness of his militaristic thinking was coming back to once again haunt him. Fine, be that way, stay in the cold rain by yourself… , he thought to himself. With this the larger husky started to pick up his pace. If the younger huskie wanted to keep up he would have to strain his pudgy frame.
He then heard his next comment as he was pulling away "Ponimaj? Politruk?" .
This caused him to turn around and growl, the fur raising off the top of his neck. He still had no wish to harm the younger husky, it would not be honorable. But he was intent in making a statement as his tail thrashed wildly “Niet! You know nothing about the kommunisticheskijj!!!! I am not welcome home because of those despots!”
Yarrick at this point glared at the husky, narrowing his multi-colored eyes and baring his fangs. Perhaps not as aggression directed towards or at the young Husky himself, but of those last words which seem to stirred up something that has been oppressed within for some time….
(by the way, sorry if my posts are not accurate for Russian words- I am trying to look up words in an online English-Russian dictionary that spells out the pronciation in the English alphabet. I know no Russian IRL)

Speedy watched as the larger husky turned around and started to pace off. He sighed and slowly started to follow with a faster pace after the husky to catch him up- after all the Russian dog was more experienced than he were- that was for sure. He sighed slowly releasing a little whine which was barely to be heard by anyone but himself.
“Niet! You know nothing about the kommunisticheskijj!!!! I am not welcome home because of those despots!”
The dog finally shouted to his face that in a snarl- so this wasn't communistic dog- he was an old patriotic Russian dog. "Nix Russki? Njet?" he asked confused- he thought that every Russian were under service of the Soviet Union and loved the ideals of Lenin. He stared at the dog amazed- this actually seemed to HATE these dogs and that's why was there. He dropped his ears and blushed underneath his fur. His snarl was placed just to his face- he deserved it anyway.
"Sorry Comrade...I..." husky started- he wasn't sure but he thought that every Russian dog and human should know that Russia and Finland wasn't in very good relations at the moment and those two nationalies hated each others. "I didn't know" Husky added again- though even though he wasn't a communist Speedy wouldn't have such a great relation with him- just because he was from Russia- the dog was rasist in a way or another- he hated nationality that caused his family's death.

Yarrick glanced to the younger husky, who he could see had shown some degree of submission when he snapped. Either because he realized he was wrong or he didn’t want to be attacked or both.
He relaxed slightly, head no longer arched, ears no longer pinned back, and snarl diminishing, though his eyes remained narrowed and fixed onto the husky- his glare never changing.
"Sorry Comrade...I... I didn't know”
He wasn’t sure if the younger husky really meant this or not, but at least it made him calm down a little bit. The rain was by now just finally getting to him- perhaps of his age combined with his outburst made him for the first time during the storm feel cold and chilled. It was not a feeling he was used to, at all as he let out a sneeze.
“Napadat' na, lets find somewhere to dry off. Do as you vant after then.” he said as he trotted off underneath a dry pier on the north side of the harbor. He didn’t look back, it was the other dog’s choice on what he wanted to do at this point. He offered no hospitality, merely offered a suggestion. He shook the water off then laid down on the dry sand under the pier. Keeping his eyes generally on the port in the direction he had come and confronted the other Husky.

“Napadat' na, lets find somewhere to dry off. Do as you vant after then.”
The husky wasn't anymore angry at him- he was chilled when he said that and the suggestion tickled Speedy's ears enough to stare after him when he quickly trotted off. The sudden change in the male wolf made him smile a little- perhaps this Russian doggy wasn't as bad as many others were. He slowly started to follow him.
Of course Speedy felt bad from snapping at his face about political officers- this husky seemed to be here since he ran away from his home- perhaps he wouldn't be too bad friend for a Russian... Speedy's paws trotted forward as he saw the husky disappear for a moment but it was easy to find his scent. However Speedy was more interested from influntrating to a building with a boiler- Hospital's boilers were always warming. He thought it for a while he finally found the spot where the Ruski was laying.
"Here is cold ya know?" Speedy said shyly looking around before he took a seat. Militarical strategy hit to his head- he wasn't going to sleep in a cold place with a Ruski. "Njet- Follow me comrade- we won't spend our time here when we can find more- warmer place...do you know any boiler rooms or hospitals nearby? They have boilers on twenty four hours in week burning to keep the construction warm- it won't be a Sauna but it will be warmer than here" it was a mere suggestion for him- Speedy hoped that he would follow him to the place. He wanted to sleep in a warm place- not in a cold deserted platform.
Speedy quickly turned around and trotted down the street like a orange ball of fur- though he looked like a brown and creamy through his dirt. He halted to see a local Hotel- for seilors. He smirked- perfect. Looking behind him he wished to see the Ruski to follow but without waiting him the husky shifted to the backdoor trying to search the spots that would the most warmest spots- so he could find the door that lead to the boiler room. A door wasn't a problem for him. The old mechanism for doors were easy to defuse. Placing his paw to the bolts he picked them up causing the door to come down with a crash. "Hmph" he mumbled softly as he entered inside the building. He this time stayed there- waiting if the Ruski followed him...

Yarrick glanced up as the Finnish Husky trotted off. He was more then happy with his spot in the cool dry sand, and had learned through experience that trying to deal with strange humans was unwise.
He nevertheless followed the orange husky, if not at a distance to make sure he in turn was not being followed by someone else. He watched him pry the door loose from the pins. Clever, very clever, but it made such a commotion that he checked every direction for signs that the noise of the crashing door had not roused anyone from their shelters.
Had this been the middle of the day, even primitive human hearing would have heard the door slamming to the ground, but being in the middle of the storm, no one noticed.
He cautiously padded through the now vacant doorway, and followed the husky warily. He was right, it was drier and warmer in here then under the pier, but he was still concerned as there was only one way out, the way they came in. He did not like the thought of being cornered.
He had already been in this situation earlier when he stowed away on a cargo ship to get into this harbor. He was lucky that he was able to create a distraction to get him past the humans who had bigger concerns cleaning up the mess he had made, and was lucky enough to talk his way out of a confrontation with the ships dogs, one of which had decided to abandon his ship and follow into the unknown of the port with him.
He had lost the wolfhound during the storm but wasn’t worried. He could more then fend for himself and would stick out like a sore thumb to be found in the harbor come daybreak. The other two he had met so far were a little more elusive, and he still didn’t know what to think of the shorter Husky.
He had been right about finding a warmer place to take shelter in, but at the same time he felt uncertain being cornered, as he gazed around the room filled with pipes and valves all in a configuration he didn’t understand and all bolted to the walls. Not a very good chance of causing a distraction in here in case they needed to escape.
He followed the younger husky into the corner of the room behind the boiler where it was warm and there was a little room at least to hide, for now, and sat down next to him.
”Wery cozy but what ya suggest ve do come morning, da?” he paused for a moment, glancing to him. It wasn’t the glare or gaze he had on the younger husky earlier, he saw by the look in his eyes that he had went through some sort of hardship himself getting here. Whatever it was, it did not concern him, but it did make it easier for him to forget what had happened earlier and relate to the young one.
“Fine, for now but Chelovek come in morning to fuel boiler- only one exit, what then comrade? He reward us vith steak?” he says sarcastically as he cautiously lies down. No matter how comfortable it is here, he will need to be alert. He is only here to dry off no matter how... Tired... he is and how... Warm and inviting this trap may be......

”Wery cozy but what ya suggest ve do come morning, da?”
Speedy bit his lip, he leaped straight to the action not thinking what he would do if things blew off- very unwise from him indeed. He looked around the room quickly trying to figure out how to get the hell out of there if something happens- though he then chuckled 'no worries' he thought as he motionated the husky. Slowly Speedy walked up to the door and leaped to his hind legs opening the boiler room door. Before quickly end expecting the Russian to follow, he then pushed the door shut.
Now he thought a little what he should do- hmm what would he do really. He looked around the area as he saw the Russian lay down on the corner. He then pondered his question- something he should really do but what? Distraction would be the best but when the humans saw the door they would think someone was in...though most of the doors around were locked expect the boiler room, it seems that it contained woods for the hotel guestes.
“Fine, for now but Chelovek come in morning to fuel boiler- only one exit, what then comrade? He reward us vith steak?”
Distraction was the key worker in this one. "We need a distraction" Speedy said shyly- he had no other thing to say and this boiler room idea was his- he wanted to clean up his messy fur and sleep warmly by renting the boiler room a little for that. "Do you have any idea what kind of a distraction we can make? Or then hide before we can get out of here when someone takes carbages out from the back" he motionated- though sweet smelling salt lingered to his mouth- no doubts there was a kitchen nearby. His mouth begin to water up but he tried to ignore, no food was kept there in a warm place.
Speedy looked around. NOT even potatoes were here. Sigh escaped from his lips, he wondered if the husky there has ever been in a war situation and not always like a guard. He has been only few days but that wasn't really much- Speedy haven't hobbied food storage raids like the other dogs had but he did listen to their plans when they went through them by conversations. He learned the pin trick from his friends.
"I suggest that we both take some sleep to our heads, Hyvät yöt ja nuku hyvin perkeleen ryssä" Speedy said politely before placed his head down to his forepaws curling up besides two large sacks of coal and whatever material those two sacks held inside them

Yarrick watched the orange one look fruitlessly for a second exit, finding only a dead end boiler fuel room and the rest of the doors locked. Yarrick knew it wasn’t going to be safe here, and the thought of the logical choice of picking up and leaving into the cold night occurred to him, which would have been the wise thing to do.
His body on the other hand, wouldn’t listen. Paws and tail limp on the floor already half curled into a ball. It was warm here, and dry, and his aging body didn’t want to move. A few years ago it would have been different. He would have laughed at the storm outside. He wouldn’t have so much have sneezed.
Da perestan' zhe! Wake up, we need to get out of here! He thought/mumbled quietly to himself struggling to keep awake. His body did not however listen, and soon, against his will he found his old, tired body near the orange husky limp and useless as against his better judgment he fell asleep……

Speedy smiled at the Russian dog. "Ah only thing misses is good food" he said quietly to himself quite disappointed that the kitchen door was closed- perhaps there were no one inside making lunch for others so it would be like a paradise for the young husky. He remembered those times when he saw their boys raiding a storage.
"Vauhtia nyt" was only sentence he remembered to hear when someone shouted. He chuckled before he begin to took some example from the husky. He curled up with his orange and white fur- he had groomed it a little and it was more cleaner. He closed his eyes leaning his head against a soft sack full of coal or whatsoever was inside it. Soft purring sound errupted from his throat before his eyes remain shut- his body made him sleep right there.
Despiding the Russian's company he really wasn't up to complain anymore- at least he had courage to follow young and shy husky to a place like this what would be a paradise for a dog seeking for shelter- ah what a place for him....

Yarrick twitched gently as he was sleeping- the veteran husky was having a nightmare. Falling fast to sleep, partially against your will had its consequences sometimes….
Yarrick was walking through a dark forest, banks of low lying fog obscured his vision to mere feet in all directions. It was silent. Too silent.
The old husky perked his ears as he heard rustling ahead. Cautiously he advanced towards the noise. Suddenly out of the fog emerged the head of a large wolf, the wolf was easily twice as large as the husky. It was as black as midnight and its large eyes glowed red. Around its neck was a thick leather collar, and dangling from that was a large golden dog tag. On the tag was a Hammer and Sickle, symbols of communist Russia he was forced to flee from. The wolf was snarling, fur bristling and ears laid back. It was ready to attack the smaller husky.
Yarrick readied himself, lowering his head and pinning his ears back. His snarl matching that of the wolf’s.
As he was ready for the larger wolf to charge numerous red eyes lit up the fog surrounding him. Growing larger and larger, the snarl becoming one in a chorus of snarls. Yarrick had no way out….
Suddenly a gunshot rang out, and everything faded out.
Yarrick snapped up from his nightmare still shivering slightly, an uncommon sight for him, but in moments he regained his composure and remembered where he was, as he glanced to the orange and white husky curled up nearby, still snoring away.
His ears perked up. It was not the sound of a gunshot in the nightmare that awoke him, it was the slam of a door and a rattling bang. Soon there will be company in the boiler room. It was still night, as he could see outside the open door frame Speedy had broken earlier, though the storm had diminished. He was about to awake the other husky, but for now he remained calm.
He needed to see just what was coming before he decided what to do. A dash for the door right now might lead him right past a figure waiting in the darkness, and his escape might be blocked. Or he might turn around and leave. The choice to leave or run would have to be made- but that would still need to be decided depending on just what emerged from the shadows….

Orange ball of fur remained asleep while Yarrick's form snapped up. A slight snore was coming from the Finnish dog soldier while he moved his paw to his muzzle top giving a slight rub to it, as he had thought the two sacks were a perfect spot at laying lazily asleep- he wasn't sure why but he loved it already before he fell asleep to it.
Murring kept escaping from his maw, but then slowly the uneasiness made the husky to open his eyes. "Wa...?" husky asked rising his head and yawning widely- no it wasn't morning even so the husky thought about to keep sleeping in the warm spot- uhh it was begining to be even hotter around. The boilers weren't burning anymore that well. The light was shallow, fuel was almost out and the hotel building begin to get cooler- only the husky's spot would be warm. He looked around with tired gaze and it hit on the Russian dog.
"mikä hätänä?, I mean eh..sorry what's wrong?"
Husky was tired and asked first in Finnish since he had got in use with it. He rose his head and looked around shaking his head- at once he was fully awake even he was a slow wake-up. He rose to his feet feeling now warmer- puffy fur of his was now more cleaner than last day- he did groom it only a little so that it would keep cold out from the skin.
"Perkele- refuelers"
Husky cursed as he heard again a door slam somewhere. He turned to see at the Russian dog- he hoped that HE at least knew what to do right now- there were two options, to run before they notice the broken door- unless they have already noticed it. Or hide till they leave to return back in the morning

Yarrick quickly darted his eyes about. The hallway leading to the fallen door was narrow- one human could easily block their only exit. He heard footsteps coming down the narrow corridor and before he had time to think about his two options, the choice had already been made. They couldn’t easily run, so they had to find somewheres to hide
He found the perfect hiding spot that was more then big enough for the both of them; the only problem was it was behind the main boiler underneath some large pipes which transferred heat to the upper levels.
When the boiler was refueled the pipes would heat up and it would become more then a little warm and cozy. His fur had been scorched by heat before- it wasn’t a pleasant experience, but they didn’t have to hide here long. Just long enough for the fueler to do his job and leave. Then they could make a safe departure from the rather, uncomfortable hiding spot.
” Bystro! Under here! He said motioning to the crawlspace behind the boiler, then darted underneath himself, leaving plenty of room for the orange husky to join him. It was already significantly warmer here then where they were comfortably laying before, and soon it would get hotter.

Speedy stared around- as well he found the passage unpassable without detection. He was near a panic level- the refuelers would notice them if they tried to run- they can not run. He bit his lower lip only question that ran through his mind was following: "What now?"
He looked around and sighed preparing to the thing which would be ahead- beating from the refuelers.
” Bystro! Under here!"
Speedy turned to see the other husky crawl behind the boiler. What had the ruski in his mind? Hide? It seemed to be their only option. Slowly he leaped toward the boiler to the crawlspace which lead behind the boiler, its heat hit against his fur. "No way Gosspid I'm not goin-" Speedy started in attempt to protest but he heard door crack- so he leaped in pushing the husky little deeper as he crawled in- his black tipped tail slashed in behind him just as the refuelers arrived into the room chatting whatsoever.
Slowly the orange ball of fur crawled besides the other husky- shortage of room of course. he felt the warmth of his fur and the hotness of the pipes and the boiler. He begin to pant a little but kept it quiet one. "We're going to get barbecued" he hissed silently and laid completely flat to avoid the hotness that surrounded him- to him the situation wasn't the best, danger ahead, danger here.
War experience he had was shortage and his young age made him to shiver a little- the warmth was heavy for him. Closing his eyes he bit his lower lip again till he felt familiar taste of blood in his mouth. He bit accidently too hard. "Hopefully..." he shut his eyes "Minja Zavut Speedy" he told to the husky- of course this Finnish dog knew very little Russian but that was all he knew...
