Sleep came to Kait quickly. After a dreamless night, she awoke to the sun hugging her face. The sadness she had felt the previous evening had almost completely faded away. Though her goal of finding Kail was always strong in her mind, she had taught herself not to let it get her depressed, at least not for too long.
Kait opened her mouth and let out a huge yawn and then turned to look at Teak. The mix was still asleep, curled up in a ball at her side. She watched him breath slowly in and out, so peaceful. She wondered if he was dreaming anything. Dreams had never come to Kait unless she was at sea. She supposed it was because the tossing of the ship stirred her subcontious mind enough to give them to her, but no matter the reason, the dreams were always wonderful. After a few minutes of listening to the silence and watching Teak sleep, Kait's impatience got the best of her and she nudged him lightly with her nose to rouse him.
"Morning, sleepy head," she said.

Teak too had had a dreamless night. It was the first in quite some time that his head had not been filled with the nightmares caused by the eerie night-sounds of the graveyard. He had been awoken by the nudge - well, somewhat. His legs unfurled from the circled position as he shifted. He acted in a subconcious, still half-asleep daze. Little attention was paid to what was around him. Instead, Teak soaked up the pleasent warmth. It was a comfortable atmosphere, so similar to that he had often shared with his master. "Morning, sleepy head." Teak's eyes were still closed as a content, peaceful smile crept accross his face, as happy memories of his days as a housepet filled his mind. He picked up his head, slowly draping it over the nape of his companion's neck, just as he so often did with his master's knee, begging for a pat. So warm, so comfortable. He inhaled deeply. Her pelt had a salty fragrance, something he had never smelt before - the smell of the sea. Kait's fur tickled at his nose, which twitched in reaction. This was quickly followed by a mighty sneeze, which forced the mix back firmly onto his haunches. He had been forced into a fully awake state, wearing a rather startled expression.

Teak draped his head over Kait's neck. She smiled at the affection, but could tell that he wasn't quite awake at the moment and probably didn't know exactly what he was doing. He breathed in, pulling some of her fur toward his nose, He knocking himself backward onto his haunches, and she let out a burst of laughter.
"Welcome to the world, Teak," she said, trying to calm her hysterics. With a deep sigh, she wiped away a tear with her paw and stood. "What sounds good for breakfast?" She streached, letting a huge yawn escape her maw. Her paws, extended out in front of her outside of the den, were dampened by the dew that stuck to the grass in little drops. She didn't know if there was in choice in what they would eat. It would probably end up being whatever they found first, but she asked none the less.
As she waited for a response, Kait's mind thought back to the previous night's conversation. Teak had said something about looking in Hallow. Perhapse, after they had eaten and prepared for the day, she would inquire about this place, but it was not the most importaint thing on her mind at the moment. Right now, she was going to enjoy the morning and the time with her friend. Right now, she wasn't going to be concerned about anything.

Teak wriggled his nose about in confusion, as the tickling feeling disappeared. A small pout formed in reaction to Kait's hysterical laughter. What a way to wake up.
"What sounds good for breakfast?" Following suit, he rose to his feet to match her. "I um... dunno." By the sounds of her brief story told the night prior, Kait had been looking after herself, getting her own food. He, meanwhile, had always had food plopped down in front of him. Even the little food he had had in recent times was pilfered human food. What would be available to eat around here? Regardless, she probably had a better clue about it than he did. He passed her out the entrance to stand in the dewy grass, the morning sun gently shining down on his coat, which had finished drying hours earlier. The blue merle and chocolate brown patches showed clearly now, unobscured by mud and water. He turned to her, cocking his head curiously, so that his ears flopped about on his face. "What do you think?"

"Whatever we can find, I guess," said Kait. She wasn't sure if Teak had ever hunted before, but if he hadn't, she wouldn't mind hunting for him, too. Putting her snout to the ground, she wandered away from the den trying to cath any scent of a rabbit or rat or something else that could be caught and eaten. One path lead her to a rabbit hole about ten feet from where they had slept, but there were no rabits in sight. Since the freshest scent was going into the burrow, Kait positioned herself upwind of the opening and waited. The rodents would have to come out soon.
The sun was beating down on her red fur, warming her just enough to be comfortable. She didn't know how long it would be until her prey emerged, but she was patient. All her sences focused on the opening of the rabbits home, everything else disapeared. The muscles in her body tensed, and then...a pair of long, brown ears poked up out of the ground after a sniffling pink nose. One of the rabbits nervously crept out onto the grass, stopping every time it senced what could be a preditor nearby. But it never noticed Kait.
The setter waited, body still tensing, every fiber ready to attack, until the rabit had gone far enough away from the opening that Kait would have time to catch it before it ran back in. Once the prey had reached that point, Kait sprang forward, teeth bared and barking. The rabbit was fast to respond and bounded away, but not fast enough that Kait couldn't catch up with it. After a short chase, she caught the rodent in her mouth and carried it happily back to where Teak was standing.
"Breakfast is served," she said, plopping the food down and smiling proudly.

Teak stood back, uncertian. With her nose to the ground and quickly picking up a trail, Kait seemed to know exactly what she was doing. He'd probably just get in her way with any attempts to help. He watched curiously as she waited, pounced and made the kill. He was not used to the hunt, and as he looked on as the rabbit was clenched firmly in the setter's mouth, a chill swept down his back, causing the furs down his spine to stand on end as it swept past. To catch something so fast and strong seemed very impressive to one such as him, however mundane it would have seemed to another used to the way of life.
"Breakfast is served." Teak glanced down akwardly at the limp body of the rabbit. His gaze quickly returned to Kait, brows gently furrowed. The tiny, half-starved mice and creepy crawlies he had somehow survived on in his time in the cemetary could be swallowed down whole, but now presented with the broken form of the lagomorph he wasn't quite sure what to do. He gave a small smile, the corners of his mouth barely curling, to his companion, feeling rather useless.

Kait smilled at the mutt's apparent confusion and laughed softly to herself.
"Here," she said, "like this." Kait pealed away the fur with her teeth and pulled some meat of the rabbit. She nodded to Teak, indicating that it was his turn. Then, she layed down to watch him eat. True she was hungry, but that was probably nothing compared to the hunger of her friend.
"Enjoying yourself?" she asked as she watched Teak trying to accomplish this new task. It was quite amusing, really. She remembered the first time she had caught her own food, and how proud it had made her. Maybe she could teach Teak to do the same someday.

A large brown empty bottle rolled its way across a small patch of the dead grass that was once lucious. The strong scent of Rum oozed its way out from the lip of the bottle. A light snooring could be heard from behind the large tombstone it came from. A mixed scent of dirt, rum, sea water, and other disgusting things came from that direction as well as the slight hint of a canine. Then a loud snoring pierced the almost silent air as the mutt was in a deep sleep because of his alcoholic stuper.
(( MUAH HA HA HA short post sorry peeps...once he actually gets to the others ill make him do more ^_^ Kait awaits her brother Kail (pronounced kyle) ))

((Sorry for lateness - been out))
He watched her demonstration, noting her actions. With a nod, it was his turn. As she lay down, he glared down at what was now not a living creature, but simply food. Teak mouthed tenderly at the patch of the rabbit's tissue that Kait had stripped bare of pelt. Attempting to mimic what he had seen the female setter do, he gently placed a paw over their prey's body to hold it in place. Lowering his head, he baught foward his muzzle. His teeth sank shallowly into flesh. A trickle of still warm blood leaked past his teeth into his mouth, droplets of the red fluid clinging onto the short furs close by his lips. He gave a small tug, but the flesh would not budge from this little strength. The mix clenched his teeth down harder, and with a sharp tug he finally managed to rip a piece of lapine meat from the carcass. He quickly swallowed it back, calming the small but demanding gurgling of his stomach. He held his head high and gave a smile to Kait, a small grin created from equal parts of sheepishness and the pride of accomplishment.
After scooping up the mangled body, he trotted with it, legs dangling akwardly from his mouth, over to Kait. He dropped it down in front of her. Sharing... half and half... like the little fox-dog Terro had told him back in Hallow after their raid on a smoked meat stall. Teak tongue curled out from his mouth, collecting the blood that covered it. He did not notice that the breeze of the fine morning had shifted, but even he could notice the stench that it carried down from the graveyard. It was the rum that really got to the mix, standing out from all the other mingled smells. He scrunched up his nose in disgust of the vile alcoholic odour. "Erg... What's that?!"

Kait watched as Teak slowly tried to copy her actions. She thought he was doing quite well. He smiled at her, and she returned the smile as a way of praising his accomplishements.
After his first bite, Kait was surprised to see him carry the carcas over and dropped it in front of her as if to offer equal portions. She had just assumed that the catch would be his, but this act brought an even wider smile to her face. "Thanks," she said.
Suddenly, a foul, yet familier odor filled the air. Perking, Kait inhaled deeply, and with her breath out whispered to herself, It can't be...
Kait lept behind the tombstone, more excited than she'd ever been before, to see Kail in a deep, drunken sleep.
"WAAAA! KAIL!!!" she cried, leaping onto his back and tugging playfully at his ear. The rest of the world vanished from her reality, and she didn't care. She had found Kail. He was alive and he was here. Her happiness exploded inside her and she felt like she could soar.
"You're here! You're back! Kail!!" Suddenly she remembered the presence of her friend. "Teak, come here!" she cried. "Come meet my brother!"

The mutt simply squished under the weight of Kait, he was fully passed out and nothing loud could awaken him from the drunken slumber that he was in. With all the movement that Kait made, he rolled onto his side with a dreamy look on his face as he drooled and it seemed onto the ground. His black hair sprawled out on the ground next to his head. His ears, tail, and legs were all limp and without movement. Only light grunts and moans could be heard as Kait showed her excitment to see her long lost brother again.

Teak stood in confusion as Kait bolted. He perked his ears, causing the tips, hanging down under their own weight, to flop about. His eyes darted between the setter's figure, which grew smaller as she bounded on, and their breakfast. The female was getting further and further away. Not wanting to be left behind, Teak charged after her.
He slowed his pace to a trot and finally to a complete halt as he reached Kait as she pounced upon her brother. He stood away, uncertian, as Kait seemed to forget he was there at all. Teak peered curiously at the slumped figure of fur and cloth that was currently the center of the female's attention. He reeked of the awful smell which had lead the other two there. Teak's nose scrunched up tightly, his brow deeply furrowed. The stench of rum that wafted off the setter cross clung to Teak's nostrils. He recognised the smell from his life in Hallow. Something to do with humans. "Teak, come here!" He cautiously stepped foward in instataneous reply, glad to no longer feel forgotten or excluded, as Kait called him forth. "Come meet my brother!" His brow loosened again, though one raised, his distaste for the smell momentarily forgotten. This was the one she had been looking for for so long? Teak lowered his head to study the sleeping form again. Kail had remained unmoving, not even waking with Kait tugging at his ear. Though it was prejudiced and, truly, none of his business, Teak couldn't help but feel the other male didn't care that his sister was there, even if Kail was ultimatly totally unaware of what was going on around him, outside of his world of unwaking slumber and drunken dreams. Was he worthy of all the effort his sister had gone to? Teak gave a soft snort, raising his head again, returning his attention to Kait. He couldn't help but feel a slight sting of jealousy. Kait had again found the one she had lost. The one he had lost would not return. Teak shook his head, an attempt to remove these thoughts. It was rather unsuccesful. Instead, he turned his head away to look out to the distance. To Kait it might have seemed rude, the mutt making himself seem disinterested in her time of joy, but really he was hiding the emotion that shone in his eyes. "What now?" He asked quietly, referring to the still unconcious form of Kail.

Seeing that her brother was making no response to her excitement, she backed away a few paces and looked at him sadly. Why didn’t he wake up? "Kail..." she whined as her eyes began to water. She knew that she should expect this from her brother, that he was too drunk to know what was going on, but at the same time she couldn't help but feel hurt. This wasn't how she had pictured their reuniting to be. It was supposed to be happy and joyous, not filled with drunken snores and the overwhelming smell of alcohol hanging in the air.
A hot tear trickled down the fur on her cheek and a bitter mixture of anger and sadness began to bubble up inside of her. Her emotions would have taken totally control had she not glanced over to Teak. He was standing, back to her, staring off into the distance. Shoving her own problems aside, she rushed to his side and nudged him gently with her nose. “You okay?” she asked.
”What now?
“Well…I guess…” her voice trailed off. She didn’t know. All the pictures that had played in her mind of her finding her brother were so different than the way things were now, and she had never expected to have friend to add into the mix. On top of that, she hadn’t really given any thought to what she would do after she found Kail, mostly because she never really believed she would.
Sitting down next to Teak, Kait stared off into the distance. “I don’t really know,” she said quietly.

((Hope you don't mind me replying again, jaksen))
"I'm... fine." Teak had managed to push back the emotions which caused his golden eyes to tinge. He smiled meekly at Kait, an attempt to convince her that he meant his words. She had been upset too, after all. This should've been a happy time; she had found what she had quested so long for. He plonked his jaw playfully upon the top of her head, trying to lighten the mood. "We should stay here. He'll wake up eventually, right?"
Suddenly, with a soft rumble of his stomach again begging for food, he remembered the half-eaten rabbit, previously discarded without thought. He stepped back, removing his head from the top of the setter's. "Wait here." He commanded, quickly turning foot and trotting away, giving her little time to reply. He followed the path they had formed on the pair's way towards the graveyard. Quickly he reached their previous position. He was fortunate, it was still there. He scooped the carcass up. The residual warmth it had retained before had disappeared now, though it's fur had been warmed by the sunshine. Prize in jaw, he trotted again back toward where he had just come from. The lapine need'nt go to waste, and eating would be a way to pass time.

"I'm...fine." Kait could tell that the mutt didn't mean what he said, but she didn't make a big deal out of it. If he didn't want to talk, she wasn't going to force him. It was cruel to dig up bad memories, especially if one was trying to burry them. Simultaneously, Teak and Kait's stomach growled. "Oh yeah," she laughed. "We're supposed to be hungry, aren't we?"
"Wait here." Before she could respond, Teak had run off and trotted back happily with the rabbit that had begun to eat earlier. He plopped it down infront of her and the two began eating voraciously.
