Oh my gosh I haven't played Arwen in YEARS. . .. The small kitten with beige blotches scampered across the beach, trying to avoid getting her small paws wet. She'd pause every once in a while to shake her tiny legs to get rid of the sand. Arwen stopped on a stone which stuck out of the sand and began licking her fur. She wasn't doing such a good job because she never learned how to clean herself properly. Her fur had clomps of dirt here and there. Luckily she had met an older cat to start teaching her how to hunt- or she would be dead. But that was a while ago, and she hadn't seen that cat in so long. She rolled over on the warm stone, purring. She was strong enough to fight whatever came across her. "YEOUCH!" She mewed, pulling her rather fluffy tail away from the crab which had pinched her. Apparently she rolled onto it. The crab waved it's claws threateningly. Arwen smirked and lowered into a crouch. She pawed at it, pulling her small paws away just in time to avoid the claws. Her ears fell back as the crab advanced toward her, the claws dangerously close to her face. She yelped and bolted away, ignoring the sand that was sticking to her paws. She tripped over a stick and fell into a pool of water. Arwen climbed out and shook her messy fur. She was not having a good day today. . .

Donnatrix watched. The dark, lithe wolf kept low, downwind at a suitable distance and postion not to be noticed. He was covered by a few rocks strewn about in the sand, and overhead, there was a smallish tree, which provided him with shade from the sun, which he hated and feared. He watched as his target , a small kitten, was attacked by a crab, and tripped up over a stick. Well, no matter how bad a time she was having with getting wet and pinched by a crab, it was about to get infinitely worse for her, because Don was planning to kill and eat her. He couldn't remember the last time he had eaten a cat, if at all, but it was meat, and Donnatrix was not too worried at this point what that meat was. He would have to go out into the sunlight, yes, but it would be worth it.
Now she was climbing out of the pool of water. Don sensed that this was his chance. He quickly, and quietly starting running straight at her, keeping low and behind her. Closer, and closer, running at full pace now, as he sped towards what he hoped would be a quick meal. His pale eyes were fixed on her, and he now was determined to execute this kitten now. He hated all kinds of animals, and kittens were no exception.

(Alert the press, an interesting roleplay!!!)
Arwen heard something from behind, she whirled around to see a dark wolf lunging at her, purely using her instincts she ran as fast as she could to the side. The trees were farther away from her than she'd like. Memories of how her parents dying flashed before her eyes. They were killed by a crazed canine when she was very young. Somehow she had managed to survive even when her siblings had not. Hopefully she would again. Arwen glanced behind her, praying that the wolf was far enough behind for her to get away unharmed. She looked forward again, a tree about a yard away. If she could only climb faster than she could now. She closed her eyes and leaped into the air and landed at the base of the tree. She whirled around to look at the wolf, she was afraid.

Failure. Donnatrix couldn't tolerate it. In his view, failure was just another reason to hate himself along with everything else. He would not allow this creature, which he now despised, to escape. WHERE WAS IT? Donnatrix grew agitated as it ran. He sped after it. There, at the base of a tree. Donnatrix closed in on it as fast as possible. He was like a dark shadow, speeding across the ground. His mouth was open slightly, ready to kill her. His eyes never blinked nor wavered, they kept locked on to his target.
Donnatrix didn't know if he could climb trees or not. It seemed simple enough. Hopefully he would catch the kitten before it got to that stage. He leapt into the air again, headed straight for her. Don did not fell anything for this pitiful thing except for hatred. It was simply how he was. He hated animals. Hated them, and feared them. He didn't especially fear this one, it was running away from him after all. But still, it might be dirty. Or diseased. Don would make sure to wash himself down afterwards. He hated getting blood or dirt on him, and as a result was quite clean at the moment, although the sand on his paws would have to go.

Whisper stepped through the beach, her eyes following the waves as they crashed gracefully against the sand. Her soft voice could be heard if one listened hard enough, the notes coming from her lips as cascading and calm as the seas depths. The small border collie mix continued to sing to herself, her troubles seeming to melt away along with the words gathering on her lips.
Oh how she enjoyed quiet times like this. She couldn't help it, she was just a natural loner. She'd been a lonely puppy for so long, would she ever grow up? Oh how unlikely that seemed. Still, being here made her feel much better. Sometimes, she just needed to get away from the pounding stress that seemed to plague her, get away from those other faces until all she could see was the sky, feel the water lapping at her paws, washing over them with it's chilling majesty. Yes, she was glad she'd come.
However, her peace of mind seemed to be sucked out to sea when she heard some commotion. She turned her head, the sound of a cat making her ears perk up. In an instant, her eyes caught sight of the racing dog, thundering across the sand. The cat hurrying towards the tree with the other creature behind it. What a sickening sight. For a split second, Whisper considered just turning around and dashing away, ending her stroll all together. However, though her fear gripped at her, her sense of justice was calling her as well. She could not just leave this kitten, could she? Surely it would be hurt.
Confused, the small dog mix took off in the direction of the other animals, her steps nearly silent against the gentle sand. Her eyes held both a scared and a determined glimmer as she raced on, the sound of her own heart beat thudding in her ears. It took all her courage to muster the words.
"Leave that kitten alone," the voice was hoarse and afraid, not at all holding the desired effect. And that sure wasn't going to help her in this situation.

((sorry for the wait, I'm SOO busy!!! D=))
Seeing the wolf lung at her made her freeze with fear, just as he was about to sink his teeth into her fur a random thought came to her. She bolted to the other side of the tree and jumped as high as she could, her claws sinking into the bark. She began making her way up, no one had ever taught her how to climb a tree before, and no one will. She had to get high enough. But how long would this evil wolf wait for her to come down looking for food of her own? She gave a pitiful meow and continued to climb. "Leave that kitten alone," a hoarse and almost fearful voice called from the distance. She looked at the dog and whimpered slightly, continuing her struggle to climb higher. Dogs were her enemies, why was one telling the other to not kill her?

Now, Donnatrix was not the biggest wolf you might see. However, he was larger than Whisper, and that instantly put her in danger. Don had no problem with killing the dog and eating her, he was very hungry, as usual. However, he was reluctant to leave the kitten, which he didn't want to leave with the impression that the wolf couldn't catch her. Plus, one had to consider why a smaller dog had put her life at risk by approaching. Perhaps she had a pack? Or, one of Donnatrix's other fears, a human?
He waited under the tree. If the kitten decided to come down, it would be killed. He didn't want to go after that dog, because she might have some sort of hidden back-up. In truth, Don was probably just being paranoid, but he had no pack, and he didn't exactly have a stable mind. He had to be careful. He gazed coldly at the newcomer, and spoke, in his Yorkshire accent, which he hated. People would make fun of it. That only made Donnatrix's self esteem worse than it's already low level, and it discouraged him to talk at all. So he kept his words few. "Why are you here?' he asked quietly.

Whisper bit her lip as the kitten lunged up the tree, could she not see that she wanted to help? That cat would probably rather strike her than accept her compassion. This made Whisper even more nervous. The small dog's paws gingerly came a few steps closer to the ordeal, her eyes locked on the unfamiliar wolf in case he would suddenly strike. That, would not be good.
She wasn't just being careful, more like she was afraid. Her caution was triggered by fear, of pain, and death. She didn't want to be hurt, but she hated to see this innocent cat hurt as well. She'd never been a hge fan of cats, but that gave her no right to walk out on one in need. That kitten couldn't stay up there forever, and what would she do them?
Whisper stole a quick glance at the kitten, wondering what she could do. She couldn't possibly hope to chase this wolf off, or scare him away. The only person she was worried about getting scared away right now was herself! Not to mention, she would hate to have to fight, especially when she had the down side. Sighing, she wondered frantically, what she should do.

The kitten sat in the tree feeling a bit braver. Small pride from her swift learning of how to climb the tree numbed her fear just a little. She looked at the dark creature with more bravery. She looked at the other dog, she was nervous, maybe even as scared as she was. Arwen took a moment to think, the wolf's back was to her. It probably didn't think that such insane thoughts might be flying around in her head. Either she helps the canine who helped her, even though they are natural enemies, or she uses this distraction to run off and hide in another tree. After her past with canines, she really did feel nervous when around them. And lately, she was feeling more and more alone with the loss of her friend and with the sudden number drop of cats in the forest. She swallowed and her eyes grew worried.
She had sharp claws, but his teeth looked sharper. And he had a mind to kill animals such as herself. She gasped when something caught her eyes, a weak branch, just above the dark wolf. She slowly padded toward the branch, when her paws finally reached the base, she grew scared again, the branch was weaker than she thought. She might fall if she put too much of her weight on it. The thought of loosing her safety almost scared her. Then the thought of the branch not being big enough to hurt him crossed her mind. Was it all really worth it? She turned around and put her hind legs on the part where some human or something had tried to cut it off. With a hard push she managed to knock it down, save for a strip of bark that managed to stay connected to the tree. She quickly began biting at it, the branch was far enough above the wolf that he might not notice it.

((I'll let you dictate whether or not the branch falls on him.))
Donnatrix moved a step forward. He didn't want to get too close, mostly because he hated things touching him ,and because he didn't know the intention of this dog. So far, she had told him to leave the kitten alone, and had failed to respond to his question. He looked at her intently, oblivious to the kitten and the branch above him. He tilted his head, looking her all over. He couldn't understand it. His brain, trained by years of bad experiences, told him three things. One, eveything that was bigger than yourself may kill you and eat you. Two, to survive, you must eat all that you can that is smaller than yourself. Three, heroics are for fools, and on no account should you attack a larger animal. So far, the dog was breaking all three rules that Donnatrix lived by. She didn't want the kitten dead, she was not planning to eat it, and she seemed to be prepared to attack Donnatrix. For Donn knew nothing of pity, or friendship, for he had never had been given pity or friendship. It was an alien concept. You had yourself, and only yourself.
Donn decided that the kitten didn't matter. It would grow into a cat, and cats were still smaller anyway. He could eat it anytime. This dog had now presented an easy target. But why? This question puzzled Donn so much. He couldn't understand it at all. He decided to ask, beforehand. If she gave him a good reason, such as she had a pack nearby, or an owner, then obviously he would have to think twice about eating her. But the more he sniffed the air, he became surer this wasn't the case, but he asked anyway, in a low voice, trying not to give away much of his accent. He was alway so embarassed about it. "Why shouldn't I joost eat you?" he asked.

Whisper gave a startled growl as the wolf took a step closer to her, crouching down in the sand. What were his intentions? She hated the feeling of having such an unpredictable enemy, someone she had never been acquainted with. The look in his eyes was scaring her, sending chills of fear down her spine. Her pawsd sank into the sand, feelings loose as the gentle minerals parted from the pressure. Her eyes were filled with nervous worry. What shoudl she do now? She could still run, or was it already too late. It seemed pretty hopeless for her.
Maybe she should have stayed in Synl. At least there no one wanted to eat you alive, and she certainly didn't get caught in situations like this. Oh how she longed for home, even if she did feel like a stranger there. Any place was better than this, standing beneath this evil gaze, wondering what to do next. Surely this creature had no mercy, and would not be getting any anytime soon. Surely she would feel his jaws at her throat if she did not think clearly. She would have to sue her head to get out of this one, if she could keep herself from completely panicking....
"Hurry and get away kitty," she whispered under her breath, "and I'll do the same..."

Donn grinned slightly to himself. It was an evil and twisted grin, as he realised it was one of the only times he would actually have some feeling of happiness, and that was meal time. He began moving slowly towards the dog, fangs bared to their full extent. He hated the actual contact he would have with his prey, but the food was worth having to touch another living being. Donn sprung forward, eyes locked onto Whisper, fangs prepared to jab her in the throat.

Whisper's eyes grew wide as she realized that the dog was coming upon her. His steps were slow, planned, but they were approaching. Fear bubbled through her paws and into her mind as she sank back a few steps, her tail tight between her hind legs. Her ears were pinned to her skull as her eyes locked onto the slowly moving figure. She saw his white teeth glistening, ready to be stained with the kill, her blood. Wondering what she had gotten herself into, she gulped down a lump in her throat.
In her mind, she told herself to be strong, she fought these feelings of fear. However, it was useless. All her life she had lived afraid of her own shadow, how could she possibly hope to get through this? Why did she lie to herself like that. This was hopeless, she should flee right this minute, do eveyrtihn within her power to escape those jaws. However, the kitten was holding her back, for she knew the canine would return to it once she ran off, if she got away that was.
She needed to face him, even if she was shaking with fear, she needed too...
