A neat white paw passed gracefully past the other and settled briefly into the dusty ground, nails resting casually and paw pads relishing the cool earth. A slight pause, then a flick of the head before she carried on, following her nose towards the tantalising scent of a possible breakfast. Tatjana smiled to herself as the sunlight peeped through the leaves upon the trees, making a mottled effect on her light caramel fur. It was a lovely day, relatively warm though the trees surrounding the pass provided shelter from the heat. Sometimes it wasn't easy having long beautiful fur, there was the excessive warmth on such sunny days and of course the matting that caused Tatjana to itch so much. She loved preening herself, making herself look respectable but she hated having to pick twigs, dirt and large matts of tangled fur out from her underbelly and legs. With a chuckle, she padded onwards, her clever nose scanning the area, hunting for that smell. That musty, mousey, tricky smell that she loved so much, Squirrell. Squirrell... just the mention of that word got Tatjana's stomach grumbling hopefully and she licked her lips cheerily, large ears pricked forwards and oddly pretty eyes darting from tree top to tree top in search of her favourite light bite.
A scuffling sound flooded her enormous ears and she stopped dead in her tracks, her nose twitched and her eyes narrowed, slowly searching for the source of the sound. Her nose decided it was the squirrell, her stomach decided she needed to eat it and her ears decided it was nearby but her eyes taunted her. Her dark, umber eye drank in every detail of the surrounding woodland whilst her pale bleached blue eye struggled to focus and blurred, skewing her accuracy slightly, much to her irritation. Just a the Collie cross was about to give up, she saw it. The flick of a silver bushy tail nearby, the squirrell was a clever creature but this time, it'd slipped up big time. Focused on the flash of silver, Tatjana crouched, a sly smile spreading across her maw and she felt entirely confident. She was going to nail this one. Another rustling sound and a small grey head poked out from behind an old stump, beady black eyes darted towards Tattie, startling her slightly. It had seen her and was bound to make a dash for the safety of a nearby tree, she had to act now or else she'd miss out on her morning snack. In a flash, she pounced onto the stump, just as the squirrell turned and skittered away from her. Tatjana snapped her jaws at the small grey creature and missed it's body by a hairs breadth. Instantly, she jumped down from the stump and snapped again quickly, this time catching the squirrells tail and hoisting it into the air. She tossed the writhing animal up above her head and bit caught it in her mouth again, delivering a killing blow to the back of it's head. She gave it a quick shake just to make sure before she turned back towards the felled tree and laid her prize down upon it's stump. Now Tatjana, whilst cocky and boisterous had a degree of dignity and respect for the world around her and she bowed her head over the squirrell. Her pink tongue protruded from her muzzle and she licked the animal gently on it's head, it was a ritual she always practised upon a successful hunt though she had no idea why or where she'd picked it up from. She smiled enthusiastically.
"And now, I'm gonna eat ya, lovey!" she said, her soft voice complimenting her broad northern english accent fantastically.
