The scarcity of any trees or shrubbery for cover was somewhat unnerving to the small wolf wandering through Dante's pass. Indi was restless, continually glancing back and forth for any sign of danger, for she was no fool. She had heard the stories of the murders and mysterious deaths that took place here on occasion, and she was not about to let herself fall prey to the vigilantes that settled here. The little female trotted along at a quick pace, quite certain that her hulking counterpart was not far behind.
They were supposed to be on a hunting expedition, but that was proving to be easier said then done when working with a bulking black bear who would rather hug the prey then kill it. Indi chuckled to herself, Paws, her brother, couldn't help his good-nature, if anything it was a good thing he was so gentle. The she-wolf loped up to a nearby stream flowing parallel to the pathway, bending her head to lap at the water's glassy surface after scanning the area for enemies. This journey had been long and treacherous, for it was one thing to travel alone, but to also travel with your massive little brother was also quite a headache, however Indi was happy to take the job.

Paws galloped clumsily behind Indi. Oblivious to everything around him. Running with his tongue hanging out of his mouth as though he were a panting canine. Paws stopped by a rather large tree and sniffed thoroughly at the roots. He climbed the tree following the scent he had acquired. Paws stopped on a very thin branch that probably couldn't support him. On the end was a squirrel. The squirrel was eating an acorn and spotted Paws. The squirrel stopped and didn't even flinch. It just stood there stiff as a rock watching Paws. "Com hewe squerwel, I wond hort chu." Paws said moving further on to the branch.

Indi drew her amber head up from the stream's edge to make sure Paws was following still, and she saw no sign of him. She sighed to herself, 'Oh boy, what happened to him now?' she asked herself, only knowing the playful curiosity of her brother never ceased to get them into sticky situations. Following her nose back the way she had come, all she had to do was look up to see her ursine sibling awkwardly clinging to a rather fragile branch. As Paws moved further along the branch toward his target, a squirrel at the end. The branch began to bend, groaning in protest to the bear's weight. Hearing a few sickening cracks, Indi only could expect the worst to happen, "Eh Paws? Ya might wanna come down now, otherwise that branch's gonna give you a much faster way of returning to solid ground," she said, watching him nervously.

"Wet me dew it. I ken get da squerwil." Paws replied as he began moving further down the branch. As he did the branch continued to sway and bend closer to the ground. The squirrel took notice to this and quickly hopped off onto the solid ground. He sat next to Indi as though he was also spectating. Paws now noticed he had gotten into a sticky situation. The branch began cracking and a couple of loud snaps were heard. With that the branch snapped and there went Paws. He hit the ground with a loud thud. The squirrel chuckled and continued on. Paws layed there as though a ton of bricks landed on top of him. "I noo that were gonna happen." Paws said.

A soft sigh escaped from the little she-wolf's lips as she could only look on as Paws moved further and further away from the stability of the tree. The squirrel, already realizing what was about to occur, hopped gracefully down from its perch and took a seat next to Indi's forepaws and looked on as well at the comical dilemma now plaguing the young bear, clinging to his quickly breaking branch. Her bright green eyes following him as he fell from the tree, Indi rose to her feet to see if her dear brother was alright, while the squirrel sat back and chuckled to himself. "Uh huh, sure ya did..." Indi said, smirking and tugging at the big oaf's ear with her teeth playfully.

Paws rose to his paws and shook the dirt off. Paws turned towards the tree and the branch that had thrown him to the ground. There was a single acorn on the end of that branch which the squirrel had not touched yet. Paws rushed over to it and plucked it off the branch. "I wonda why squerwel likes these so much?" Then as he had seen the squirrel do, he plopped on his hind end, put the acorn in the tips of his paws and began nibbling on it. The acorn was obviously too small for Paws to just nibble on and he gave up and just gulped it down. "Eet tastes like nuffin." Paws said still sitting on his hind end.

The young wolf only looked on it curiosity and wonderment at her brother, nibbing on an acorn like some kind of large, mutant squirrel. She chuckled to herself nudging her brother in the arm with her nose, "You know, you really make me wonder about you sometimes Paws, ya really do." She smiled at her brother's innocence, he really didn't know any better, and that was one of the things that made his disposition so sweet and gentle. She leaned her back up against him as she lounge back up against him; Indi smiled to herself, quite glad that her parents, the alphas hadn't sent her on this journey all by herself. "Thanks for coming Paws," she said, "It's nice not to be out here all by myself."

Paws was listening as Indi thanked him but his attention was diverted to the squirrel that had left him hanging. The squirrel saw Paws and chuckled as he scurried along. Paws noticed that the squirrel went into a hole in the tree trunk. The hole was obviously one that was abandoned by a woodpecker family. Paws suddenly jumped to his paws and darted across the pass to the tree the squirrel had jumped in. He put his eye to the hole to see what lay inside of it. The squirrel saw this huge eye come to the opening of his home and didn't quite know how to deal with it. "Ders a sqirwel in heew." He said taking his eye away from the hole and with that an acorn flew out of the hole and hit Paws right in the maw.
