"I just thought I'd be in trouble....I always get in trouble...."
"Why would you be in trouble?" Dean's innocent curiousity almost dripped off of him as he spoke.
"You are such monumental dork."
"Haank. Knock it off." Dean growled slightly at his brother, obviously annoyed at his sibling mocking him.
"Is that your dad? Is he going to be OK?"
"Pop's sick. I don't know with what." Dean looked somewhat anxious. "He was trying to show us something when you showed up. I think he knows something about how we can make him feel better." His voice grew somewhat strained as he spoke, rising in pitch.
Dean turned and walked back towards his father, a worried look on his muzzle.

Chase thought about the question Dean had asked her. Why would she be in trouble? She thought hard for a few seconds, remembering back when she was still with her parents, before a new human took her away. She was always getting in trouble for not paying attention, or she'd knock something over, or would be exploring and get accused of sneaking around.....
"I just normally seem to get into trouble for everything. Most of the time, I don't know why. It just happens so much I just seem to automatically expect to be in trouble," she said with a hint of frustration.
Then the brothers seemed to get into a small squabble over Dean's politeness. Hank seemed ready to take his brother on at that very moment. Boys....such strange creatures....Chase had one brother, but he would go out of his way to find another male pup to pick on, just for fun. Chase made some quick mental notes about the boys: Hank seemed to be the carefree type, Dean the more polite, concerned one.....Dean seemed much more concerned about his father...
"Pop's sick. I don't know with what. He was trying to show us something when you showed up. I think he knows something about how we can make him feel better."
Chase's ears lowered slightly....she had interrupted, but didn't get a chance to reply before Dean turned and headed back to his father. Chase looked at Hank.
"I hope your dad does know a way to get better. I wonder if I could help?" She replied. No one's father should get sick like this and she wanted to help. It was the right thing to do in her mind.

After a final nip, Hank nudged his brother, of course if that girl wasn't here Dean would have wrestled with him. So the pup sulked a little, he always got yelled at. His ears pinned back Hank shrugged at Chase, he was about to take a step forward after his brother until he heard the female peep up.
"I don't see why he'd care. " He gestured his head the direction Dean went "So comeon..." he trotted a few steps and than looked back at her with a moment of interest.
When they got back Rusty had drawn, albeit poorly a pretty accurate map upon the soil. "When I was half you boys age, I had traveled the majority of this area, " he almost said it as though his sons were a bit lazy to still be there sitting under their father's wing. "But i can't remember the particulars of it...when I was a pup,i had gotten sick like this before..."
"My father had found something from a healer dog near the human settlements..."

Chase was relieved when Hank told her he didn't think it would be a problem and then motioned for her come follow him. She fell in behind the yellow pup as he made his way back to where Dean and his father sat studing some odd scratching upon the ground. Curiosity crept in strong, and Chase craned her neck around Hank as they walked, trying to get a sneek peek at whatever it was. She wasn't paying much attention, and when Hank stopped, she ran straight into the back of him, falling on her rump.
Chase for a moment didn't know what hit her, what happened. She snapped out of her confusion and saw that she'd run into Hank....now she was a bit embarassed. She hoped the other two didn't notice, as they were studing what appeared to be some sort of map scratched upon the ground....She gave Hank an apologetic glance, but said nothing, listening to the father explain what it was he'd drawn....
[ack...short....and.....and.....I'll do better next post.....]

Dean was looking at the map his father had drawn when the other two caught up to him, and he kept sneaking glances at his father's prone form, obviously still worried. So worried, in fact, that he didn't even hear Chase's initial question.
He listened intently when his father spoke and he almost jumped backwards from surprise. "Really pop? You've been like this before? How.." He was interupted as his father kept speaking. He stopped and listened.
"A healer dog? Who? Is he still alive? Where can we find him? Tell me pop, how can we help?" Dean's rapid fire questions rose in pitch with each word, reaching a shrill tone by the end, and he lept slowly around his father while he waited for a response from his pop.

((Yeah it is, sorry had a busy busy day today ))
Hank was not quite ready to be ran into. But Chase hit his backside like the pup had once ran into a parked cart when he and his brother snuck into Hallow Village to steal food. "Wha? Hey!" He whipped his head around gave the female a confused look but didn't seem to yell when he noticed that she was super embarrassed. He gave her a goofy look.
***
Rusty sighed as his younger son seemed to take things overly serious once again. "Dean, Dean...relax." he coaxed the boy, not wanting him to pass out like he did on occasion when he got overly excited.
"I am not sure if the dog is still alive Dean, probably not..since I was 6 months at the time and now..." his voice smacked with sarcasm, as it often did, before the older boy interrupted:
****
"Hah, yeah because you're like ancient now." Hank laughed, he seemed to enjoy ribbing his father, for whatever reason. Rusty growled and turned his attention back to the younger son.
*** Clearing his throat the old male looked more sour than he had before. "As much as I hate to admit it, your brother is right...I am...getting on in years, and chances are, that healer is dead...but if I'm lucky...if we're lucky he had a protege."
After looking back at Hank, he noticed the she-pup, and cocked a brow, but didn't say anything. Still, he wondered where she came from.

Chase was afraid that she was about to get yelled at. Hank had started to respond in surprise, but had stopped himself and just smiled. Chase breathed a sigh of relief, and listened in on what Rusty was saying. A healer dog? Chase's mind drifted back, memories of a strange dog that lived with the town's human healer played in her memories. She'd always been afraid of the dog....he'd been very strange, always spouting ranting conversations, seemingly with himself, and seemed like a language she'd never heard of. He'd been a scraggly old cur, blind in one eye and several missing teeth due to his old age. He loved to scare the pups....Chase shivered at his memory....Rusty was mentioning a protege....yes, this healer one day had a younger dog always with him; she'd actually been very nice, but Chase didn't get to know her as that happened right before she'd set out after the others and lost her way.....
Chase snapped out of her memories, ears perked up, and stood excitedly to her feet. Before she could stop and think, she stepped forward, bursting out into hyper speech...
"I knew a healer dog once...well didn't know him, he was very strange and loved to scare us all silly. But this healer did have a helper later on....surely the healer you knew had a helper!"
That's when Chase realized she'd jumped in the middle of the family group....a stranger in the middle of their personal situation...an awkward silence fell over her...her excited expression quickly faded, and she just wanted to slink away....why did she always have to do stupid stuff like that?

"Dean, Dean...relax." he coaxed the boy, not wanting him to pass out like he did on occasion when he got overly excited.
Dean looked dejected and disciplined. "Sorry, pop..." He hung his head for a moment, before perking up again, waiting to hear how his father wanted them to help.
"Hah, yeah because you're like ancient now."
Dean whipped around at his brother and growled slightly. His voice rose in pitch, but wavered slightly. "Stop it Hank! Leave Pop alone! Can't you see he's sick?!?" He turned back to his father, still slightly angry, almost ignoring his father's agreement with his brother.
"A protege? Like a student...?" Dean was curious and started to ask his father a question, when he heard Chase's exclamation.
"I knew a healer dog once...well didn't know him, he was very strange and loved to scare us all silly. But this healer did have a helper later on....surely the healer you knew had a helper!"
"Really?!?" Dean perked up, his ears standing straight up, excited. "That must be who Pop was talking about! He did have a student! We've gotta find him, he could help Pop!" Dean had started jumping around in excitement, a happy grin on his face. He looked at Chase, "Where is he? Where can we find him?"
((OOC: Sorry about the delay. I had hoped to catch up with my online RP stuff at work, but work's been sporadic lately. Heck, I was supposed to work today, and when I showed up the place was closed, locked door and all. Again, sorry. I'll be more consistent once school starts on Wed.))

Hank a sour look on his face for being doubly ignored and growled at huffed, making a woofling noise before trudging off into the forest to mope a little, maybe practice fighting or stare off into space for awhile, either way, he was done with father and Dean right now.
The yellow pup stomped off, faintly his voice grumbling "Darn those two...darn those two to heck..." but whatever else he was saying trailed off into obscurity.
Rusty hardly noticed that his older son had wandered off. He seemed more curious that Chase had some info about the healer's apprentice. "Oh! Well that's just fantastic!" he smiled quickly, "You and Dean can go find this healer and bring him back here..."
The slim old red dog seemed a bit better for the spark of hope was given back to him ever so slightly. "You'll leave immediately." he stood up and nudged Dean to start walking. Pushing him along.

[no problem, Dark....RL happens and I completely understand]
Chase was at a loss. Instead of getting in trouble or being hollared at as usual, everyone seemed to express a hint of excitment, even Dean, whom she'd begun to think was just a little too serious. Dean's excitment at her outburst quickly jumped to her, and before she knew it, her tail was wagging with excitment....until Rusty instructed them to leave and bring back the healer right away, and pushed his boy along.
Chase turned with Dean, and after taking a few steps, stopped. A new wave of confusion flooded over her. She knew a healer, yes....but was it the same healer? And there was another little problem....she was lost, and had been for weeks. She didn't know what to do. The old dog looked better already with the false hope she'd just outbursted with. She trotted a few steps in the direction that Hank had gone, and paused. Looking over her shoulder, she motioned with her head for Dean to come....where had Hank gone?
"pssst! Dean!" She whispered towards Dean, and then "Pssst! Hank!" She whispered a little louder into the trees where Hank had gone. She trotted a few more steps towards the trees, trying to get out of ear range of Rusty....she had a confession to make.....

Hank had been proudly chewing apart an antler he had found when he heard something call out for him, the feminine tint of the voice and the tone of importance in the tone had immediately brought to mind images of his little bro. The yellow male spat out his chew toy with a frown.
"Shut up Dean. I'm doing something." Of course, if by doing something he mean moping, well the teen aged dog was correct. But he probably wouldn't have sounded so harsh towards Chase if he had known it was her and not his brother.

Dean had begun trotting off towards the direction his father had implied might be the right way when he heard Chase's whisper. His ears perked up and he turned to look at the female. "Hm?"
He followed the other dog toward the trees, a curious expression on his face. When he heard his brother's response he rolled his eyes.
"It's not me that's whispering dummy." He spoke softly, but didn't whisper, assuming his father wouldn't hear. "It's Chase."
He turned to her. "What's this all about now?"

Good, Chase thought, I got his attention, as Dean began trotting her way....then Hank's grumpy voice came from the bushes, hollaring for Dean to leave him alone...he thought it was his brother calling to him. Under normal circumstances, Chase would have thought that funny, but right now, for once in her life, she was on a serious note. A dog's life was at stake and her mindless outburst had been a bit misunderstood. She was about to answer Hank's remark, but then Dean piped in and did it for her. She trotted a bit further into the bushes, Rusty completely out of sight now.
"Hank-it's Chase. I need to talk to you!" She whispered again, plenty loud enough for him to hear.
She turned back to Dean, who'd followed her into the trees, a pleading look on her face. He'd been so excited to hear that she new a healer....
"Please don't be mad at me...." she started, and looked back to the trees where Hank was hiding somewhere...she wanted them both to be there when she told them she didn't know where the healer was....

Hank hesitantly pulled himself up and towards the female, he wouldn't be called rude again, he wasn't rude. The pup made his way over, a scowl somewhat on his features. He wasn't a dummy either. But he wasn't going to fight again just to get yelled at.
Making it to the girl pup he dropped onto his haunches with a huff, looking over at her. "Huh...why would we be mad at you?" His frustration turned to curiousity, as one of Hank's eyebrows lifted in interest.
