It was her second night in Arnlan, she tossed and turned restlessly, something from her past haunting her dreams. Krystal muttered something that wasn't audible. A cool breeze brushed against her fur but she didn't wake. She flinched and a tear fell from her tightly closed eyes.
"Your betrayal confuses me. . . ." Her father's angry voice growled in her ears. Krystal, her wounded back made it hard for her to stand, she felt close to falling of the cliff they were near. . . "I didn't betray you father!" Krystal cried in despair. "I tried to save mother!" Her father attacked her again, Krystal was pinned, rain poured down in her face. "Her death was your fault, you'll die for it. . ." he growled, he lunged at her to kill her. Krystal was faster, she pushed him off with her hind legs and he fell over the edge. "NOOOOOOOO!!!!" Krystal's voice was louder and had woken her with a start. Panting, she looked around seeing that she was alone, except for a couple sleeping wolves. . . She looked at her paws with a sad expression. "Forever and ever I solemnly swear. . . I'll prove myself worthy in your eyes. . . father. . ." she muttered, repeating what she said after she watched her father die. That oath had been buried under many memories, she had forgotten. She looked outside, guessing it was around midnight, she stepped outside, taking a deep breath of the cold fresh air of the night.

Tokokuni trotted briskly through the eerie glow of the moon, her eyes glowing as well. Her large delicate paws crunched quietly over the frigid snow, her ears perked atop her head so far one might think they just jump off. Her large fluffy tail swished about silently behind and jeweled bandana on her neck twinkled slightly. She lifted her nose to the sky and closed her eyes, sniffing at the lightly flowing breeze.
She knew she'd heard someone call out, and somewhere near here. She didn't know if it was out of fear or helplessness, but that voice had sounded...alone. She had only met a few wolves in this strange new territory, but she was always looking for accaquaintances, and on this dark, cold night she'd expect others to think the same way.
The twisted shapes of the ebony trees loomed around her as she set off, lowering her head and watching the path before her closely. At a steady gait, she advanced upon whatever creature had startled her, squinting her eyes to get a better look at the small animal, her tails moving suddenly halted. Before her stood a small wolf with siler and white fur, shivering with her back turned.
To Toko, she looked almost sad, and she could almost hear a sob in the night air. Compassion shone in her crystal eyes, and her heart went out to the lone wolf. She wondered why she was out here all alone at so late an hour, but wasn't herself as well? Sighing slightly, she wondered if she should simply turn away or approach her, but knew that she could never leave someone in such a rude way. Her lips curling into a smile, she trotted over to the wolf and sat down with a soft thud. "Hello," her greeting was warm and gentle, "My name is Tokokuni, might I ask yours?"

Krystal turned with slight surprise, she was embarrassed, she shouldn't have been so easily snuck up on. . . Krystal sighed and looked at the wolf with slight surprise. She was beautiful. Well, prettier than herself, but this pack wasn't for wolves who compared themselves on looks, well not in that way. Though Krystal was scruffier, she might be a better warrior than Takokuni, maybe.
Krystal blushed when she realized that she hadn't replied any sooner. "I'm Krystal." She sighed and looked at her. She wanted to, for some make herself look tough in front of the other wolves, she was barely accepted after all. She thumped her tail on the ground, glancing at the sleeping wolves nearby. "Cold night. . ." she said, unable to bare the silence.

Tokokuni gave Krystal a questioning look, wondering why the wolf seemed reluctant to meet her gaze. She supposed she was alike to herself, possibly getting used to pack life. She recognized the startled expression on the wolf's face, and hoped she hadn't intruded on her thoughts. She hated it when someone barged in on her when she was thinking, and she didn't want to end up that someone.
Toko's eyes peered up at the night sky, the stars twinkling softly in the moonlight haze. The calming of the night brought a certain tranquility to her soul, and she was relieved when such feelings came upon her. Still, this wolf did seem a bit troubled, and she realized that this was a good oppurtunity to make some friends in this mysterious pack. With a quiet plop, she shuddered as she sat down, the cold snow melting under her tail. "Indeed," she nodded gravely, her eyes quickly flashing to see if the other wolf was even paying her any attention, "seems like it's always that way in Arnlan. Are you new here by any chance, not to say you don't look like an able wolf, but you have the same uncetainty in your eyes as myself. I've only been here a short time, and so far I haven't made too many friends. Tell me though, what are you doing out here alone?"

She looked at her with slight dismay. An especially cold breeze blew in her face, a couple of restless groans filled the air, she hoped she didn't wake them. . . "I am new, I was accepted just the other day." she told her, shivering slightly. "I just needed to clear my thoughts. . ." Her voice trailed away as she glanced at the star-covered sky, she looked at her breathe then looked back at Tokokuni, she didn't mean to appear weak in front of anyone. . . But if she was near another newcomer, it shouldn't matter as much...? Krystal's pelt shimmered in the moonlight, she sighed and tilted her head, this mysterious wolfess was out alone too, wasn't she? "And you?" she asked respectfully, "What's got you up at this hour?"
She was glad her front paws were in good sturdy gloves. . . she was almost afraid they'd freeze in this constant cold. Don't complain. . . A little voice inside her told her, You wanted this way of life. . . Krystal gave Tokokuni a slight grin, but it was mostly to make sure her mouth hadn't gone numb. She looked at her bandanna curiously, it seemed a little peculiar. . . It was very pretty and somehow she knew that she hadn't just found it somewhere, it had to be of great importance to her, unless she guessed this wolfess's personality wrong. . .
