So this is it? The mighty Arnlan pack is nothing but a bunch of wolves huddled around in the rain? Ha, Rose doubted that of course but the thought did run through her head, as most do. So much to see, so much to do. Since Cedarburg seemed right well deserted, why not try here? She pondered on the...hospitality these wolves might show a simple timber wolf, lookin' for a place to stay. But then, Rose was anything but a simple timber wolf. This place was drab and dreary, so why not brighten it up a bit, with her lovely self?
Yes, Rose is in fact this self-centered.
A damp cold pulsed beneath her paws as she stepped, but during this winter she was getting used to it. She was getting used to this entire place, it always seemed cold up here. Oh well, that's what she gets for travelling with a father like hers. As she padded deeper into the territory, eyes wide as she looked from spooky tree, to dead tree, to more dark trees. Eh, didn't seem that bad. As she walked, she dared not howl to see who it was around her, but waited for a wolf to approach. If attacked, Compass Rose would definitly, and incredibly defend herself. She had been doing so for years.

" Do not believe you have come so far unnoticed, " came a voice from the shadows. Just then, a chilling wind reverberated through the forest, causing the trees of black trunk and leaves to groan. Deliberately, leaves and sticks were stood upon as a form circled around the she wolf in the trees surrounding.

" I have been watching you, " came the voice again, this time without the accompany of the wind. Appearing now and then was the illusion of two swirling blue dots. Then, they became clear as one began to emerge slowly from the darkness that enclosed the territory of Arnlan. There appeared Sofika, who held her high status with pride.

" Well well well, " casually her voice played into the ears of the wolf. " Aren't you the curious one. Tell me, what are you doing here so... alone? " Grinning, the black wolf fully revealed herself from the shadows that continued to lick at her feet. Bristling her fur, she watched her patiently through shielded eyes.

The arrival of this newcomer was no surprise to Rose, though it probably should have been. She wasn't stupid, in fact Rose was quite witty, but some mistaked her insane bravery to be foolishness. Perhaps it was, and perhaps it wasn't. The usual sly smirk appeared on her lips, she knew it well for it was like an old friend. Just as most of the wolves close to Rose knew her smirk well. The strange thing was, Rose never let any wolf get close to her heart. She was cold but still she had been admired by many. But she pushed the thoughts aside, she was leaving that behind now.
Through long lashes her yellow green gaze traced over Sofika. Black wolf, kinda pretty, crazy blue dots on the face, so far this alphess' appearace gave Compass Rose no clue to her personality, as they sometimes did. She moved on to body language. Hmm...Strange ability to access wind during grand entrances, quite handy. Held herself with pride, she was high ranking, she looked a hard one to fight. Just by the way she moved Rose could tell today would hopefully not be a fighting day.

"That's no surprise." Rose said, eyes glinting as she replied to the first of Sofika's words. "I am indeed rather curious, of this land that fits you rather well. As for being alone, everyone is so why does it really matter?"

[Sofika]

The recognition of her high status within these lands was a good step forward for the wolf. It was noticeable on her face that the intruder realised this, even if she did not intend to show it. The need for fang and claw was not present in this situation, for the moment at least.

Normally, when it came to removing a wolf form the land they would go by her initial warning. Rarely was one so intent in leaving that they attempted to fight their way in. Even if the did somehow manage to overpower Sofika, they barely got one step without their throat ripped out by the twin nearby.

" I agree, they suit me perfectly. Your reason for being alone does matter. To me. "

Why was such a witty wolf all alone in these parts of the region? Maybe she had come from the north, or from the east because Sofika was certain that if she passed by Sallin she would have been confronted. They would normally not allow any wolves to travel in Arnlan direction for fear of them joining Arnlan and the potential of them fighting against them.

" Why is it that you come unaccompanied. Tis a dangerous world out there... and in here... "

" 'Why do you reckon Boo Radly's never run off?'
Dill sighed a long sigh and turned away from me.
'Maybe he doesn't have anywhere to run off to...' "[/font][/size]

Rose had come from the south in fact, but she had turned east long before she got to these lands you all know and love. She had been running fearfully, usure of where she was going. But now here she was so why not make use of it? Her past was a mystery to most, even herself. For some reason, she forgot most of it. But, it seemed to come back in flashes when she dreamed. Bloodied fangs, a huge wolf stanging over her with a terrible hungry gleam in his yellow eyes.
Rose shook her head, trying to clear these troublesome thoughts as she turned her eyes back onto the alphess, taking in her words slowly.
No surprise there, again... she thought as Sofika began to continue the questioning that Rose had at first easily avoided, though she doubted she would much longer. Despite the fact that Compass Rose rarely got along with other females, she already found herself liking Sofika. Quick in the mind and just as icy in words.
She let herself laugh at the last bit of the other wolf's words.
"Yes well, I suppose it's dangerous everywhere, isn't it? I am here simply because I have no where else to be, no one to see, and nothing potentially important to do. I've been wandering for awhile now, and I need a break. So I was wondering if perhaps I could join this pack you have. And if they fit in to this land as well as you do." she said, an amused smile on her lips.

Any wolf who was accepted into the Arnlan pack was better off in the lands than they were out. Sofika always made sure that every one was well and never faltered in protecting them from harm if it were to unfortunantely fall upon them. Most of the wolves did not realise how near to them when they were about their business she actually was.

So she says she has nothing important to be getting on with? No wolves to see or to be seen by? Well, if she was looking for a place to make herself useful she was welcome in Arnlan; to an extent. The alphess was not careless on who she let join their ranks. It only took one tiny mistake to have a huge impact on the pack life. Never would she risk making that. Though she says she needs a break?

" A break? Dear girl do you truly believe that you will find your break as you so call it here in Arnlan? Surely you don't expect to enter and suddenly you have everything done for you? " Sofika did see that she had an amused look on her face but the black she wolf was definently not amused. Words were to be chosen carefully and this female had obviously not thought her speech through carefully enough.

" You'll need to work in here you know. Wolves here earn their protection. It is not something I offer for free. Now, shall I give you the chance to rephase that? " pausing she allowed the wolf to gather her thought if she had to. Messing with them did not feel as fun as Karolek said it was... it was just something that wasn't of any entertaining value to the twin sister...

"Oh! Dear me, terribly sorry. Slip of the tongue. I meant a break from being alone, not from doing everything myself. Of course I will pull my own weight! I'm really not that stupid to sit around expecting you all to do it for me. As vain as I am, I'm not lazy. I'll fight, hunt, whatever you throw at me."
She said with an apologetic smile, thoughts rushing through her head she barely had time to know what they were.
Crap...I'm so stupid! Almost got my butt kicked. Who knows who else is lurking behind this gal's shadow. Bleh. Better not mess up again, Rose old girl. Gotta keep my guard up. I really don't wanna mess with this chick. Man those crazy blue dots are crazy. Don't stare at them! She'll think I'm insane. Ugh. Maybe I am insane. What am I saying?! Stop thinking and go back to the real world already!
She shook her head, with a bit of a confused look but smiled again, waiting for Sofika's reply a bit of anxiety in her yellow green eyes. Rose could fight, but she probably couldn't take on an alphess or the entire pack which could be hiding. These woods seemed unpredictable.

Sofika gave the female a few moments to catch back her breath after her sudden apologetic outburst. Flicking her tail a bit behind her she looked her up and down. Perhaps the pack could use new blood to liven them up. They were all so lazy these days that she was seriously thinking on throwing half of them out, beaten and left for dead.

" You will do whatever is asked of you. Good. It is nice to see you so determined. " Well that was what she had said. " I'll fight, hunt, whatever you throw at me. " " I will be sure to hold you to your word. " A slight snicker whispered into the shadows and Sofika raised her head and sniffed the air.

" You haven't told me your name yet... " True, she had not requested it before now. Though the question was going to arise one way or another. The alpha was always curious as to what name each newcomer held. Some where strange, ones that seemed as if the parents had thrown together some letters and created a new. Others were original yet rare to be met with.

Rose's apologetic tone faded as quickly as it had appeared, the usual smirk once again returning, her eyes held a cheery and mischivious light.
"I would hope you would." she said softly, readily changing the subject as Sofika turned onto names. Ah, Compass Rose's name was nothing of an item. Her uncle had been named Compass, and her explorer of a father had requested before her birth she be named after her uncle. However Compass was a bit of a boy's name, so he threw on Rose to the end after that lovely detail on a corner of a map. But the history of names, didn't really concern her in the least.
"And niether have you..." she stated back, though she wouldn't hide her identity from the alphess. As she had let on, Rose had nothing to hide. "Compass Rose. And may I be so bold to ask the name of my soon to be leader?"

Sofika did not feel any threat from the other females of the pack. There was quite a few in there, evenly numbered by males, but there was no underlying fear of them. In her own respect she was a powerful force. Every escape route, every shadow, tree everything; she knew it all too well to be thrown off by some inferior being. So it was without hesitation had she approached Compass Rose as she had.

" Ah Compass Rose. Is that the name you will go by, or perhaps simply just Compass or simply Rose. "

Compass Rose seemed one of those names that the owner preferred shortened down when being addressed. Better to get the name right now than later. " Sofika, is what I go by. Karolek, is what my brother, twin, goes by. I'm sure that if you were to be met up with him you would recognise his status. "

Rose's mind wandered as it often does, the she-wolf simply didn't have the attention span she should. So she found herself staring at Sofika's cool looking dots on her face. They were simply something intresting to look at. This lasted about five seconds as she saw Sofika's mouth open to speak.
"Rose would be the better of the two." she said. Rose personally liked her long name. It seemed almost like a title. Just add something like 'lady' to the front. Lady Compass Rose. Huh.
She didn't reply to the next sentance, just a simple nod. She found herself wondering about the twin. The guy twin.

" Rose, alright. Though you can go by Compass Rose if you'd like, I was mearly making sure if you prefered it simplified. " Sofika nodded a little. The dots on her face illuminated her fringe of hair over her eyes. She wasn't going to describe Karolek to the female, but instead let her wonder about him. It was be a great shock to her she was sure, to be confronted with an identical wolf with the exception of the hue of the muzzle dots. Sofika smirked.

" Well then, I bet be off to leave you to getting used to this place. Let me tell you one thing, no one leaves the territory unless instructed by myself or Karolek. If you try to escape you will be dragged back in and the consequences are die. I'm always watching. " A serious, almost dark tone spoke this time to emphasise the rule of the pack. No one had ever escaped Arnlan without being noticed. " I'll be seeing you then? " she said, waiting to leave.

Hmm, one moment friendly reminder, the next hostage threats? Intresting. Well it seemed Rose's stay would be quite more then just a 'spring break'. Her mind went back to the guy twin, had she probably been less alert she might have even drooled a little.
"Right then." she said with a flick of her tail. "Leave, then off with my head." she said to remember. "Yeah, you go do, whatever it is alphas do." Rose said blankly as she wandered off in a different direction, deeper into the territory.
