((Well, since the only threads I've used Karolek in are acceptance threads, and Arnlan needs to get active...Here we are. Attendance isn't mandatory, but the more the merrier!))
Karolek normally was a fan of silence.
After all, Arnlan was silence. The very being of the pack was like a quiet, mysterious entity with no real goal other than staying out of the way of everyone else. Arnlan didn't need a war, and neither did Karolek.
But, the Alpha needed something.
That was just it. There was nothing here. No wolves. No pack members. They were out and about, yes, but he rarely saw any of them. Maybe they were doing their jobs and disappearing into the shadows without a trace. But, he should see some of them at some point in his life, right? Besides, being in a forest full of strangers made him a bit uneasy. If the pack didn't know each other, then they were weak...And weakness was even more dangerous nowadays. Especially with that wretched Nightshade and her pack of violent nimrods who had nothing better to do than rip apart dogs at the orders of their tyranical Alpha Female.
Karolek wasn't exactly Mr. Dog-Saver, but he had no intention of killing them all without a valid reason. But that wasn't the point.
The point was that if his pack were all a bunch of random strangers wandering around the woods, then they'd have no hope if anybody decided to launch an attack on Arnlan. The Alpha wasn't going to start warrior training or anything remotely similar to that...Simply, an introduction ceremony of sorts. Let the wolves get to know each other.
Breath rising in silvery wisps of frozen moisture, the black wolf smiled, contorting those green dots around the wrinkles of his muzzle. A short cough was given, and then Karolek let out a howl. There was no drama or anger in the howl...It was more welcoming than anything. After all, he wanted the pack to come with happiness, not fear or dread. He could hear the echos of the call coming down around him, and the Alpha nodded with satisfaction.
"Let them come."

"And so they shall....", a voice hissed out of the darkness; rough, gravelly, and beaten over with the tributes that came with war and silence. A snakes hiss was added though, but not of purposeful intentions. That was only natural.
The male stepped from the shadows if only a moment later, his pelt shifting them, then blending. The flames that licked up his legs flared, as if the really were. Narrowing orbs of orange fire took in the sight of his alpha, and a short bow followed. Stiff and just as his voice. But war had made him who he was, battle had shaped him and that was it. Nothing more, nothing less besides his life experiences and his age, and the wisdom that came with it.
He seemed to be the first, and the only that had came....so far if there were any loyal wolves left....or those willing to come had they had nothing better to do. But in any case, an alpha's call should be answered, be it welcome, calling, or simply news that was to be heard, and listened too.
He settled himself a short distance from where he had first appeared, still beside the shadows, listening to the darkness and the silence....dark portions of his coat took to the night, while the other portions repelled it, and he looked up at the night sky and the bright moon, waiting to hear what the alpha had to say. The breeze shifted, blowing his fur into spikes as he stood forever in his place, gazing upwards.

The howl had perked the attention of Levy, who had been hunting when the noise had came, though he was no hunter, he occupied his time putting rabbits in the pack's food storage until other, bigger game came along...game in which he certainly couldn't handle. But he was doing his part in lo of not being given much in the ways of orders. Dropping what he was doing the small wolf started towards the sound.
That must have been Karolek, the alpha male, he had not met him yet, but if he was like his sister, he's be reasonable...if not creepy beyond all imagination. He smiled, and shook his head, the the cold weather of Arnlan had made him shaggy, and now the hair was getting into his face. He huffed some, and sighed.
As he made his way to where the sound originated, the male sniffed, there were two there, one had to be Karolek, the other, probably another packmate. Taking a deep breath and moment to compose himself he stepped forward, a friendly look on his face. "Sorry I didn't get here sooner...I was caught up on the other side of the dens..." there was a pause, and then he looked around, where was everyone?
"...Hi" Levy quickly replied nervously before anyone got insulted by his faux pas and tilted his ears back in embarrassment.

((Others can still join if they want. Especially since there's an activity check going on. O: ))
"And so they shall...."
So now his packmates were getting as good at sneaking around as he was. This was certainly a good thing, Karolek realized, since it definitely wouldn't do to have a bunch of tanks bulldozing through the forest as if their life depended on making as much noise as they could. Those invisible eyes shifted over to where the flame-footed wolf came out of the darkness. There was somehting about this wolf that suggested some sort of wisdom; Knowledge of war, battles, and all those other unpleasant thingst hat were such a necessary part of life. Karolek wasn't anti-violence, but he wasn't one to go around killing everything just for the thrill of it.
"Sorry I didn't get here sooner...I was caught up on the other side of the dens..."
"If 'caught up' means you were doing something useful, then I can assure you that I don't hold your tardyness against you."
"...Hi"
While the other wolf seemed to be relatively indifferent to being in the company of the Alpha, this one was a little bit...nervous? Karolek wondered for a moment what he'd do if he wasn't the Alpha; would he be intimidated? A difficult question...However, the answer was drifting towards the 'probably not' side of the scale, and that was enough confirmation for him that he, in fact, would not be afraid. It was then that the Alpha realized that none of his previous calculations actually mattered at all, and all he had succeeded in doing was wasting time.
"Greetings. May I have your names?"
Ah, now there was that courtesy. Even though the salutation was a little delayed, at least it came. Karolek wasn't really the type to stare down coldly at his pack mates. No, such antics were reserved for new recruits. And, possibly, anyone who misbehaved. Not that Karolek didn't know all about misbehaviour...

Tardiness was something that, had this been the past, wouldn't have been tolerated in lands farther then these. Nonetheless, it couldn't be helped. When one was occupied with a certain subject or situation, they tended to lose track of time. The things that went around them went unheard and unnoticed, and it took the sudden howl that shattered the normal silence of the lands to snap her from her daze. Alex had been staring, upward, head tilted back and her eyelids lowered in a sedated indifference. Her gaze had been upon the leaves of those large trees, staring at their patterns and shapes as if they were of actual interest or importance. Of course, they were neither, staring had just been something to do. It helped her focus, helped gather her unleashed thoughts and hold them steady so that she could think.
Not that there weren’t other things to do. After all, this land was vast, things could be memorized and learned and she still wouldn't have known everything about her new home .like the back of her paw. Yet, restless energy caused her to be distracted by even the simplest of things and subjects.
Unacceptable.
A frown wrinkled her muzzle, and she rose from her settled position, shaking out black fur and lowering her body down into a stretch as the tail end of Karolek’s howl faded back into silence. Soon enough she stood straight, rolling those shoulders back and with another shake of her body she suddenly leaned forward, paws shoving her up and off into the darkness of the forest. As she darted through the shadows her nostrils flared, and the scent of the one who had howled was collected. She knew who it was, who he was, he'd been the one to accept her when she had appeared so weak and useless. He had seen past her obvious state to see an investment in her other talents and skills.
She twisted, twining and weaving through bushes, trees, and over the white earth, only to leap suddenly out from the shadows into the clearing Karolek and two other wolves occupied with a mild, subtitle grunt. Small blood toned paws hit the earth as she landed with a thud and her front legs locked forward so that her body only slid slightly from the impact of her leap. Without hesitation, once she’d landed, she danced a few steps back and, lifting her head with those dead looking eyes, she swept them over the current company.
Damn, damn she was late, even though not many were here. Where were the others anyway?
"Greetings. May I have your names?"
Well, she said nothing, only standing there with her face held in what seemed to be mild anger. Not at anyone in particular however because it didn't seem to have a focus or direction. Instead or speaking out, she let those who had been here before her answer the alpha's question first.
She could wait; she’d been blessed with patience.

Time....
For some it sped up, for others it slowed down..and the rest were just left hanging by what was left. It passed day by day, night by night, breath by breath that the world took upon itself and it's fellow companions. It began in a slow tempo..Lento..and then rose, towering up and forming a much faster world, one of allegros' and speeds that had no name. Some threads of time waited like a tightly wound spring just waiting to be set off.
Time slowed down for him. Sped up for him. And then stopped, and sat in the middle, leaving him in one place, too look both ways, trying to decide. Voice cracked through it though, wanting it to speed up, and leave him in the dust, yet all but one did he block out to slow the effects of the noises upon his brain and his senses, if only to keep calm. One in the war is like that, and still he was. Still he watched behind his back, just challenging anyone, anything, to try him.
But then his own voice came.
"Entei."

Levy never understood the passage of time, whether it had gone quickly or slowly he could never sense. He had lived alone so long that the lull never bothered him any. Though in the presence of those who he knew he already felt as though he lost their respect...he could see how slow time could go...when all you wanted to do was to dry up and fly away like the autumn leaves.
"Levy..." there was that moment where he wanted to say more, just to justify himself, but all the alpha wanted was his name. Nothing more...But the tremendously short wolf tended to make up for his lack of height with a gift for gab...he smiled and dipped his head down before he acted on his instinct to say more.
