It was a crisp, cool morning in Arnlan. The air was still as the sun came up. BladeWind got out of her den slowly and stretched while she breathed the cool air. "Such a nice day." BladeWind decided to take a walk around her home.
The trees glistened with a frost and the grass was frozen in time. BladeWind closed her eyes as memories of her birthplace filled her mind. Her mothers voice and her brothers laughter filled her ears even after she opened her eyes. She sighed. "StoneDeath, Akane, where are you guys? IceKill, won't you bring them back to me?" She had to stop herself before the tear forming in her eye could form and freeze in the chill air. ~Get a hold of herself. Enjoy the wheather, before the brutal winter comes~
BladeWind came upon a clearing. She sat down and watched the other animals come and go. Birds gathering twigs and food, with winter on their doorstep, many animals were preparing for a hard winter. Even she could feel the unease in her bones. There would possibly be a rough storm in the next few months. She continued to enjoy the sights and sounds of her new home that she was becoming quite attached to.

RavenShard awoke with her tongue pressed against the frosted grass. Ohhh... why is it so cold, she thought to herself, drawing her long lanky legs closer to her and shuddering.
Wait...
"...Wheres that bear I was sleepin' on?" she yelled out indignantly. She had suckered this bear in to letting her sleep on him for two paws full of berries and advice on where the best salmon run is in the spring. Winter was not the season for her. Her relatively short coat and skinny stature couldn't handle the cold so well. Having a nice soft fat bear to sleep on does wonders for a wolf such as her. She wonders why other wolves havent caught on.
But here, she wakes up with her face in the ground, freezing, because that good-for-nothing slothful cave-sleeper decided to up and take off on her. With a raspy grunt, she eased herself up and looked around blearily. Its a new day. Forget the past and move on to the better things that are in store. The words of her Brothers... who were the wolf Mages who raised her to have such a Monk-like disposition... echoed through her head and she took heed to them. "BYE BYE MISTER BEAR!" She shouted again, sending birds fluttering from the trees. She plopped her butt down, wincing as she made contact with the frosted ground. Snorting in some snot that fell astray from her nose, she absently looked around until a few hairs on the back of her neck prickled, and she inhaled the scent of another wolf close by. Was this the earthy, robust scent of NightBlood? No... this was a much sweeter scent, a lot smoother... like lavender. Or Chamomile... or... something. Raven was never good at distinguishing scents other than those of plants. Thoroughly curious, she stood up and galloped wildly into the woods. "I wonder who this is... another wolf, yes... hark the herald angels howl! More FRIENDS!" A triumphant bark escaped her jaws when she soon entered a clearing and saw a tan, blue, and red wolf sitting smack in the middle of it. She attempted to skid to a stop but the frosty grass wouldnt let her. She ended up sliding, nearly careening into this other wolf, instead she slid into a fallen log behind her. "You're RED! Just like MEEEEEEEE!!!" She had said while she slid, and the last word being drawn out as she tumbled over the log and out of sight.

As Bladewind sat watching the clearing as lively as it was, something stirred outside her little hideaway. A group of birds fluttered quickly above the trees and flew off into the distance, some noise has startled them. She didn't take much notice to it as it wasn't close enough to cause her concern.
A loud bark made BladeWind snap her head around to see a black and crimson wolf sliding across the frosted grass toward her, looking quite happy and excited as she slid right by Blade, just missing crashing into her. "You're RED! Just like MEEEEEEEE!!!" The wolf's last word was cut short when she slid right into a log past BladeWind and tumbled over it out of sight.
BladeWind couldn't help herself she started to giggle and ran over to see if the new arrival was ok. "Are --ou, o-k missssss?" BladeWind hoped that the crimson wolf could understand what she was asking in between her laughter that escaped between words. She waited for an answer, then continued. "yes, I do have some red, like you I see. I'm BladeWind." She lowered her head in a slight bow of greeting, it was a habit she had a hard time breaking. ~You really need a better way to greet others~ As she brought her head back up a sudden shrill from a bird startled her and she lost her footing for a second. She fought for a few moments, trying not to fall on top of wolf. After she was able to stand again, she looked embarrassed at the crimson eyed wolf and tried to hold back a smirk and laughter that threatened to escape from her.
"How are you this crisp morning?" How she said that without cracking up she wasn't sure, but she tried to look happy as she waited for the wolf to answer

RavenShard was wedged, upside-down, in between the log and some small trees. She was laying on her shoulders, for the most part, while her back legs and tail hung above her.
"Are --ou, o-k missssss?" The wolf that had gotten her attention was looking down at her over the log. Her voice seemed to be shuddering and her last word ended in a quivering hiss.
What a strange way she was talking! Raven thought bemusedly.
"Indeed!" RavenShard assured the wolf. She attempted to pull herself up but only succeeded in wedging herself deeper between two young saplings. Then, she drew a great breath, sucking in her stomach and puffing out her chest, and she slipped free and down a small hill. She clawed her way back up into the clearing and skipped happily to the wolfess as if nothing had happened.
"yes, I do have some red, like you I see. I'm BladeWind."
Raven jumped up, startled, and splayed her feet, as if coming to a revelation. "BladeWind??!!"
"I'm R-R-R-R-RAVENSHARD!" She yelled into the clouded sky, and gave a loud hearty laugh, sending what birds left in the trees twittering into the air. One particular bird let out a shrill so ear-piercing Raven folded her ears forward with her paws. "Augh!"
When she opened her eyes BladeWind seemed to be falling toward her. Raven jerked backwards and sort of leapt into a backwards roll. Getting back up she realized Bladewind didnt fall at all. Haha, such is life. She ambled back toward her and plopped on her butt, tilting her head and examining BladeWind with those manic eyes. "How are you this crisp morning?"
She scrunched up her face in apparent deep thought. How was she? How was she? How was she? Something about a bear... and nuts... no, honeysuckle... or maybe monks... no that was a long time ago... yes, bears, definitely bears... maybe this was why she was so cold.
"Quite chilly. My bear left me." she pouted. She didnt know that perhaps BladeWind had not the slightest clue what she was talking about, because in Ravens mind, she was completely normal.

"BladeWind?! I'm R-R-R-R-RAVENSHARD!" The wolf shouted out, scaring what birds were left to be scared. When one bird gave off a shrill shriek, it was Ravenshard who reacted to it. "Augh!" BladeWind couldn't help but giggle, this wolf, Ravenshard, was quite the character.
BladeWind watched as Ravenshard seemed to be deep in thought before answering her simple greeting question. " Quite chilly. My bear left me." Blade's eyes widened in awe. "You have a BEAR?! Wow!! You're so lucky. The last bear I came across tried to eat me and my little brother." She couldn't help blabbing out a bit more than she meant to and hoped Ravenshard didn't think too much on it.
"Have you not yet made a den for yourself? Winter's coming and you really should find a sheltered place to call home sweet home. BladeWind smiled at Ravenshard and wanted nothing more than to go play in the trees and snow. She began shifting a little on her paws as Ravenshard just sat in front of her, with her head tilted like she was being examined for injuries.
Blade jumped up and ran for the other side of the clearing. "This'll warm you up!!" she shouted over her shoulder. "Betcha can't catchhh--" She was cut off when she ran straight into a tree. ~Gracefull~ she rolled her eyes at herself in her head but jumped up with a grin and finished her taunt. "MEEEEE!!!!"
{{so sorry. I totally forgot to post after I read this late one night. *smacks head* hopefully I won't to THAT again XD}}

Finally! Someone who knew of the ancient and sacred art of bear-keeping!
RavenShard opened her mouth in a silent laugh until wild laughter followed.
"Have you not yet made a den for yourself? Winter's coming and you really should find a sheltered place to call home sweet home."
One of the few things that made the mad wolf sad. Her ears drooped, her eyes went downcast, and her tail tucked in beside her legs. The sad part of winter--when the bears lumber off to a cave of some sort and go on a three month trip to dreamland. It was almost enough to make RavenShard cry.
"Dens are so... wierd." Raven lamented.
"THAT'S the pot callin' the kettle black!!" a distant voice jeered. Raven growled at the gaps in the trees from whence the voice came. Probably some cat or a cantankerous old crow.
When Bladewind made a leap for the other side of the clearing Raven stood up. "This'll warm you up!!"
"Betcha can't catchhh--" "MEEEEE!!!!"
What manner of sorcery is this?
This is indeed, play?
Why yes, I think it is.
"WHAAAAAAAAAA HAHAHAHAHAAA!" RavenShard screamed to the sky.
Snow started to gently fall again on the ground, catching in the lanky wolf's spiky black fur. She didnt notice at all. She barrelled toward her new friend, all 55 pounds of her, with her tongue lolling out and slapping against her cheek.
"I'munna GET YEWW." She grunted, nearing closer to her 'target.'

"I'munna GET YEWW!" Ravenshard had taken off after Bladewind. Blade couldn't help but have a huge grin spread across her muzzle as she ran toward the woods that surrounded the clearing. Two choices faced her, run into the woods and possibly get both of them lost or turn left/right and go around in circles. She turned her head around to shout at Raven and hoped she didn't slip "You hafta get up here first." She decided to make a hard left and despite all her efforts she slid almost straight ahead, right toward a tree. Faced with a collision with a big, bark-covered plant, Blade couldn't help but laugh out loud as she remembered a time when her brothers had taken off into the woods and she had caught up only because they had all crashed into a pile of fur and limbs at the base a tree much like the one she was skidding towards. ~NO! Avoid that. Be better than your bros.
She just missed the tree by inches as she slowed to a stop, now she had to get going before Ravenshard collided with her. It was too late, Blade couldn't do anything, she was at a dead stop and Raven was too close, Blade closed her eyes and braced herself for the impact she thought was definatly about to occur.

"You hafta get up here first." Came a distant voice up a slope in the woods.
Thats it, time to kick in the afterburners!
RavenShard tore up the hill, grabbing at sticks and brush to aid her ascent. The fog was too thick now... BladeWind was out of sight. Her nose was plastered to the ground, following the fresh tracks to her 'prey.'
RavenShard chuckled deviously as the tracks got deeper and the scent got stronger...
"WHOA!!" RavenShard had collided with a big, black tree, scraping her shoulder.
"Ehh..." she growled as she skidded away from it full speed. She was on a roll now.
She lifted her head and a mass of blue, red and gold fur filled her vision an instant before she collided into the rear of BladeWind, toppling over her back and rolling down the hill.
Skidding to a stop at the bottom RavenShard groaned, a face full of snow. She laughed heartily, stood, and shook it all off.
And then an idea came to her...
Why not give my companion a run for her money eh?
RavenShard glanced around. Trees, trees, small ravine, rock... trees, trees... Grinning she slowly crept toward a small ravine with two large boulders planted next to it. It would be a perfect hiding place.
But...
RavenShard glanced around again.
Aha!
A felled pine branch was a few paces to the right of her. She took the branch in her mouth and drug it behind her, covering her tracks.
She crept behind the two boulders and found a small cave... probably a fox families cave of some sort. None-the-less, she backed into it until she could no longer be seen, and waited for her victim to come looking...

"WHOA!!" RavenShard had found some extra power to speed up through the fog and had come crashing through right into BladeWind's back side.
"Holy ---!" The collision knocked BladeWind up in the air and landed her in a bush not less than 3 feet away. Not to mention scared her a bit but she couldn't help but laugh hysterically for a moment or two. She was having fun with another wolf for the first time since her brothers had escaped with her from the horrible human experiment place. "Hey! Where'd you go?" BladeWind had looked around for RavenShard to ask her a question but had not seen her within her 2 foot view through the fog.
Then she heard some thudding and broken limbs before Raven's growl of displeasure rang in her ears. "Ehh..."
~Now what? Is she ok? Where'd she freakin' go? I don't know. Look over that way.~
BladeWind moved toward the direction she thought Raven had fallen. Keeping her nose close to the ground she picked up Raven's sent and then through the fog saw where she had slid down the hillside, but where she stood Raven's tracks disappeared. "RavenShard. Is it Hide-&-Chase now? I'll find you!" She grinned as she tried to follow the sent of her new friend. She'd only been taught a little about hunting and tracking before the humans had come. It took Blade a minute to realize she was standing still in the snow daydreaming about the past again. ~You really need to stop that you silly girl. What was I doing? Oh, looking for RavenShard.~
She noticed some boulders to her left and some marks in the snow. She comtimplated on the place before her and decided Raven might be in there. She began to slowly prowl around behind the boulders, she had a thought. She would sit on top of the boulders until Raven would come out of hiding and then jump her. A huge smile crossed Blade's muzzle as the thought made her want to giggle. She only hoped that it would work but if not it was still fun trying and to interact with another wolf who was so much fun.
"Hey RavenShard. I know where you are!" She was hoping it sounded like she was far away to confused Raven as she began to climb up the two boulders, trying not to disturb the snow and branches that were on top.
