The cold wind was coming in, and for once, Levy was pleased that there was a layer of fat between his fur and flesh, as it didn't chill him like it might some wolves, still, just the same, he pulled his head to his chest against the cold, making an annoyed huffling sound as he continued to patrol Arnlan's borders, like he did his every waking moment.
Though the stillness of the lands was starting to make his skin crawl more than any stiff winter breeze, it was too quiet, and made him think of his old birth pack...had the mighty shadowed lands had the same fate as Cedarburg? He shook his head of such sobering thoughts, from where he was looking, with a faraway eye, Arnlan looked perfect.
But what didn't look perfect at a distance?
Hopefully, something, or someone would clear his mind of these pesky thoughts, Arnlan wasn't dead, and their enemy sleeping, perhaps, they were just biding their time. But since the Beta's untimely death, and the disappearance of the pack's main warrior, he wondered about the worst.

Dark crimson eyes watched from beneath a fallen log in front of an old fox den. In an instant they were gone, and a small shadow crept from beneath the tree and across the beaten sentry-path. The wide eyes returned, on the other side this time, watching the large wolf intently. The form kept the same pace as Levy, sliding under the cover of the bushes. It came to a spot where there were dead leaves, and it made a sound. But RavenShard was close enough to him anyway. A maroon paw slowly inched out from the bushes and gave the sentry's leg a good poke. In an instant the paw drew back into the darkness and the owner of the paw giggled insanely. Messing with others was so much fun for the mad wolf.

Levy had been too busy being introspective, he hadn't even noticed the crazy healer sneaking up on him, but he did feel himself getting poked, and he jumped up like he was going to leap right out of skin.
Though he sort of botched his landing, he fell flat on his side with a yelp and then drug himself back to his feet with a huffing sound, really, he had winded himself, and now the muscular midget wolf was whipping his head around, trying to figure out who was laughing at him.
Instead of being outright angry, the little male sat down, and looked almost like he had expected that sort of response. "That's okay, just laugh it up." his ears were pulled back in annoyance, and he himself seemed pretty mopey.

"That's okay, just laugh it up." And laugh she did.
She tried to stifle her giggles but ended up making a "fff ff fff fff" sound instead. Ducking down beneath the bushes again, she crept behind him, and blew playfully in his ear. In the blink of an eye, the mad wolf was gone to the other side of the brush, making strange squeaky and raspberry noises. She was amused by her own antics, as a mad wolf would be. It was all in good fun. Then again, that's all her life was.
She looked back out to the big wolfie, her wide grin plastered on her face reaching all the way to her delightfully insane eyes.
"Byooooooowooooop!" She tried to imitate an animal, perhaps one in another world. "Hehehehe..."

The annoyance went on for awhile, Levy's face twisted up in a scowl for a long while until things just got ridiculous, and he smiled, at least...in spite of himself.
"Byooooooowooooop!"
Soon he was chuckling a bit at the strangeness, his tail wagging a bit as he tried to make heads and tails as to what this female was doing, had she eaten some fermented fruit or something? Or maybe she was just one of the many crazies that called Arnlan home. He play bowed for a moment, and then made noise himself.
"AREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!" a pretty decent impression of a bull elk, actually. Remembering the days when he used to call a pup raised by deer his friend. Maybe that would settle her down some.

"AREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!"
RavenShard made a warbling scream, sounding like a wounded turkey. She then fell off the half-fallen tree she was perched on, hitting the ground hard. Hacking and coughing and spitting out dirt, she got up and forced her head through the bushes, giving herself some sort of half-leafy mane. Finally eye-to-eye with her victim, she smiled a wide, happily insane smile. "Hello." RavenShard whispered. Several seconds of silence permeated while she grinned at the wolf. "Whoooooooooo are yooooou?" she sung the words at the wolf, tilting her head so it was nearly sideways, making a bucktoothed smile. A very odd sight to see indeed, was a wolf seemingly making an idiot out of themself, but it was not below RavenShard's state of mind.

Levy laughed as the strange female started to warble and fell head over heels off the tree, well only a moment, before sniffing around to make sure she was alright. Just in case.
"You alright?"
He tilted his head funny, but already, the gray and red wolf was up, staring and grinning at him like mad. By this point he was getting used to this, sort of. Except for the crippling weird...but even that was sort of fun. "'Allo." he smiled back, but it was sort of goofy looking, like the whole expression was somewhat out of practice with him. "I'm Levy...who...who are you?"
Really he had repressed the urge to say 'what are you' he was pretty certain it was obvious that she was a wolf...but he knew there was something that made her...not normal.

"You alright?"
After a moment of thought, Raven replied, "Pinecones." As if this was a suitable answer, she regarded the conversation as ended. The wolf had tilted his head at an odd angle, and Raven mimicked it.
"I'm Levy...who...who are you?"
"Llll... Levy... Looviii... Lalalalala leopard... gills..." she studied her claws with rapt interest.
"My name is... RavenShard..." whispered Ravenshard, scooting close to Levy's ear.
"I'll give you a raspberry if you keep it a secret." She picked one of the few raspberries left from the bush behind her and made to tuck it in Levy's paws.

"Pinecones."
That managed to get Levy to tilt his head the other direction, by this point he was more in awe of the strangeness than confused. His grin turning a bit into a quirky smirk as he watched her tilt with him. "Nice to meet you Ravenshard." The short male wagged his tail for a moment...
Well, until he noticed how close she was, he quickly smacked his lips a bit, throat unbelievably dry, he wasn't too sure he liked her this close. "...a secret?" Levy could have just about died of embarrassment as his voice cracked a little, so awkward. But now his attention was on her completely, just in case, of course, he wasn't too sure why she was putting berries on his paws.
"Oh! Ohhhh...the rasberries...um...why would we keep berries a secret?" Levy was now returning to confusion, as he looked down at his big paws and the tiny red fruit on top of them. Now he wanted to know the method to this madness.

"Silly rabbit!!" She squealed, laughing, her tail waving madly.
She bounced in a circle around Levy, poking a berry in her mouth and chewing it. The bitter taste made her face crunch up in an odd way.
"I've never seen you around here before..." Raven pointed a paw at him, "Are you an imposter? I'll have you know I know several different ways to drown an otter... even though I never have... I don't mind monsignor, send your dogs after me." She seemed to be going on a glazed-eyed rant before she caught herself again.
"It's very cold out." Raven announced with a shrug, "Where'd you come from?" she continued on an unrelated note.

The 'rabbit' in question perked his small ears and laughed, snapping the berries up in his mouth and making a face. "They were out during a frost...they're all...all gross and mushy." It wasn't as though he was any stranger to eating whatever he could get his maw on.
"I've been here awhile...I'm an officer, I mean...that just means that I walk around a whole lot...but I'm...I'm alright...well, not bad at it." Levy just kept changing the level of importance of himself, over and over again, until i meant nearly nothing. "I don't mind the cold though." he patted a paw on his gut and chuckled. "Well insulated."
At least he could make light of it all, if that was what it really could be called, he shrugged and wagged his tail at the strange female and sighed. "But...I didn't start out in Arnlan...I came from another pack...a long time ago..." again he looked over the frozen lands and shivered, it was so desolate, and there was so little life here, he could only think of his old home now.
"Cedarburg."
