This turned out amazing, Kahvs~ while the other page was good, this one totally grabs the viewer's attention from the first glance. Everything about it just works, and works beautifully. The dramatic lighting, the painted background with its variety of colors, the layout, the text, Kahvie's pose and rather "empty" expression... it screams "A PROFESSIONAL DID THIS!!!" ;D I totally expect to purchase a printed copy of KO someday.
BTW, it'd be really cool if you could upload a step-by-step WIP of a completed page sometime- it would be neat to see exactly how you put a page together^^

Thanks, Kyrahlynn!
I might have a few saved in-the-process images of this page, so I'll look for 'em right now:).

(Double post FTW) Well, seeing as how I didn't save exactly step-by-step, I'm afraid these pages might not show what you were looking for, but I'll add notes as I go along to help out. The lineart:3. I always work with the image in it's scanned size, which is normally about 2550 x 3290. This is usually where I go in and clean up any stray or messy lines with the eraser tool (i.e. you can see a part in her headfur here where an unneeded line was accidentally drawn in when I did the lineart itself). (Please excuse the low res in this one, I saved it that way by accident when I went to upload it to PhotobucketD:...the original is in max high res) The background. When Kloteck was first started as a comic, I colored the characters in first, as I never used the brush opacity option back then (didn't even know it existed, lulz). The first layer of color is drawn in first with opacity turned off. This step is important, as it helps set the mood/color/effects for the entire page. As more detail is added, opacity is turned back on, and I start "painting," using many layers (layers as in layers of paint, not Photosop layers...I only use two layers for Kloteck pages, one for the lineart, and one for color). After the background is finished, I begin to color the characters. As with the backgrounds, the characters' base colors are colored in first. After, I pick darker shades for the shadows, and add those with the paintbrush (no paintbuckets/fill tools are ever used in Kloteck...it's all brushes, which is probably why the pages take so long for me to complete, now that I think about it). This is where the image is resized from it's original size. Any effects, such as rain, blood, snowflakes, etc are now added. The last step is to add the speech bublles, text, etc. Obviously, this page didn't have speech bubbles, so I don't have anything saved regarding those:B. Other than that, this is how I do a page. Yep:3.

Wow, that was really helpful. o: I can't believe there's only two layers...I always use like 20392093203 layers, regardless of what I'm actually drawing. xd
BUT ANYWAY, I love this page. Commented on dA too, but as I said there -- It is wicked awesome.

Wow....that is helpful...I always wondered whether you kept it as a full size or not...I wanted to get your advice on that actually...see, for me, I have to resize it first just because it takes so long to save at a full size, but would it really matter...? I dunno, I'm just asking.
TWO LAYERS?!?! *faints* I have to use a whole ton, just because I'm scared of messing something up and having to erase it, then messing it all up! XP

WOW. Two layers?!? I can see doing the painting on one layer, but everything else, with the character, shading and effects all on one? Wow. And your pencil lineart is so neat! I know you use a lightbox to help with that, but still- lightboxes can be a challenge to use :/
You are amazing, Kavs! Thanks for sharing how you do it, that was (and still is) really cool to look at!
