Under normal circumstances, Bear would be a large at healthy dog. Due to the fact that he has been a slave in Sallin for many years however, he is rather skinny and malnourished. His fur is long and thick because of his lineage; it hides a multitude of scars (courtesy of Sallin’s wolves) and also the fact that he is so emaciated. The only visible scars that Bear has obtained are along the left side of his muzzle and one small one across his nose.

The first trait that most will notice about Bear is that he is realistic... almost annoyingly so. His intelligence makes it difficult for him to deny the truth and sugar coat everything. If he does happen to be found lying to someone, it is because he believes that it is in his or their best interest to do so. The poor mutt is does this on a regular basis, as he does his best to keep the other slave's spirits up. Not only does he try his best to keep their hopes up, he also makes it his personal duty to keep them safe. Bear will usally do whatever it takes to protect them. Usually, he'll stay awake most of the night as a guard. The fact that they are all in Sallin makes this extremely difficult, and the dwindling number of dogs is starting to weigh heavily on him.

Wake up and smell the ashes//
Bear was originally bred for the purpose of sheep herding. Most of his early life was spent learning basic herding techniques and sleeping outside with sheep. Oddly enough, he found them good to be company. Once he was roughly two years he took his father's place as the sheep's guardian. That meant most of his time was spent lounging around, waiting for something exciting to happen. Though the job was no doubt a bore, Bear faithfully stood by his charges. A year or two went by and the mutt was still stuck guarding the woolly creatures. Nothing interesting ever seemed to happen, apart from the very rare nocturnal visitor. Life grew exceptionally boring for the dog. That soon changed one night. While Bear was guarding his sheep, he spotted a large group of dogs not far from the village. They didn't do anything but stand there, looking terrified. Without thinking, he followed all the other village dogs, towards the gathering of mutts. This happened to be a trap. Little did the naive dogs know, Sallinians were hiding in the surrounding area. Before the dog what was happening, the wolves had rounded them up and were dragging them towards their new home. Bear was one of these poor dogs. Years have gone by and he is still forced to serve Sallin and its members.
