Live the life on the high seas! Talosia is a world where the sentient species evolved from feral, wild wolf and coyotes rather then primates. The feudal society on Talosian mirrors the empires of Earth in our age of sail. Over the process of inbreeding, the "civilized" Talosians evolved from the native anthropomorphic wolves and coyotes to a diverse race of domestic dogs; genetically compatible but racially diverse. Wild canines at this point still exist and are the “native” cultures that struggle to survive as major empires fight for a power struggle to control the new world and the high seas. This is the age of sail, where tall ships roamed the open sea, and powerful Monarchies ruled the land. Where cannons blazed and pirates plundered. Where both musket and sword were the arms of choice. Where the natives made their stand against the strange invaders from across the ocean, and the first explorers and traders made their mark and brought goods from nations far away. In earth history, the time line and technology would be based around late 15th to early 18th centuries. ...LATE 15TH TO EARLY 18TH!!?!?!? How the crap are you supposed to RP a time period of 4 CENTURIES! That is the most impossible time span to RP I have ever heard. You'd be having Tudor Great Shyppes against Spanish galleons against British ships of the line. Plus they have a 19th century ship as the background which makes no sense either. Although... I have this overwhelming desire to join... how odd. Especially considering some little discrepancies I find with the information on the forum. Quote from the forum: Clothing and Apparel: Should be of late Rennisance to early Victorian age apparel.Er, Victorian isn't until the 1830s. 19th Century. Briston/Estonian "man of war" or "ship of the line" commands.Men of War include something as small as 28 gun frigates. I'm assuming they'll be lenient on giving permission for men of war, because otherwise their navies will be stuck with sloops that fall below the rating system. Both Flintlock and Matchlock weapons are used in this era. Flintlocks are more reliable and higher technology but fuse driven matchlock rifles are still common as they are often cheaper to produce. Are they skipping the wheel-lock, dog-lock and Snaphaunce? And they must BE CAREFUL when using the word 'rifle'. Rifle means the barrel is 'rifled', it has grooves in it to improve accuracy. Rifles were not invented till mid 18th century, and only entered army service with the 95th Rifles of the British Army, an experimental regiment of the Napoleonic Wars. Should be 'musket', which is a smoothbore weapon. Or use other words like 'piece', 'firearm' or 'firelock'. Western swords are mostly long, bulky straight bladesWestern 18th century sabres: 17th century rapier: QED they don't have to be straight and they certainly are not bulky. The primary powers here are the Bristland and Estonia Empires; though both hire Mercanaries from Reikland and Boland- who often become pirates and privateers when the pay becomes substandard.Privateers are employed by a nation. They hold a Letter of Marque from, for example Britain (their Bristland), to go and capture enemy ships as they see fit. So they'd go for French or Spanish (their Estonia) ships for example. A privateer is not a pirate. I realise this may seem a little unkind. I mean no insult by it, merely some comments on the more concerning aspects of the forum. Trust me, the flags in my signature aren't just aesthetics. . I'm sure I'd be interested to join, if they'll have me.

Dur....its a fantasy setting in fact, its not even SET on Earth, so to explain it for you, technology is set in the 1800s, and the Religious fervor is more akin to the Renaissance. The Centuries of Earth history are just given to help new players out.
You're welcome to join of course, but please keep in mind that its not history as you know it, its the prehistory of a Sci-fi universe...that hasn't really gotten up to snuff on the science yet.

Are you sure? 15th to 18th century is 1400s to 1700s. 1800s is once again 19th century.

Hahahah fine, I didn't do the write up on it, I just play there and thought I'd give it an advert, but then again, no one is asking you to nitpick either. We need new players, questions? Bring it up with the Administrator, he likes questions more than me.
