(Yes, I know this is already under the FAQ board, but I figured it would be easier if I posted the FAQ thread here as well.)
Here is the Frequently Asked Questions thread where, well, frequently asked questions are answered. Please read through here before you create a new thread under the FAQ board. If you don't understand something here, don't hesitate to PM me!
Is this an anthro or feral RP?
Based on the comic, characters are pretty much feral. They can and do wear accessories such as scarves, earrings, glasses, etc, and are comfortable on all fours. Basically, they are your average animals, only with a human amount of intelligence.
What type of species can be played here?
The main species that you will see in the comic and or/on the board are domestic dogs, wolves, house cats, and wild cats. Other forest animals are allowed, but be aware that there are predators here, and you may be attacked if you choose to RP a very small animal. Animals that posses extreme and manipulative magical powers, cyborgs, extreme hybrids, and 'perfect' characters are not allowed. While the comic and board are based on fantasy, they are still semi-realistic, and characters should reflect this. We would also like to avoid god-mod characters, as these are not allowed.
Are unnatural colors on wolves/dogs/etc allowed here?.
While extreme colors such as neon green or pink are a little over the top for this board, more subtle colors such as dark red or slate blue are allowed. In other words, try to stay away from making your wolf look like something from Las Vegas, even as awesome as Vegas is;).
What is the setting of Kloteck Omen?
Kloteck is set in the 1920s in an isolated area of Sweden. This means modern technology does not yet exist, and everything is very close to nature. We do have electricity, but it is rarely used in everyday life (fire is used for illumination, cooking, etc.). Sleds (fall and winter months) and carts pulled by canines and horses, as well as carriages, are the main way to travel long distances. Money is rarely used in the villages and ports, with crops and other goods taking the place of paper currency. Of course, many citizens in the Kloteck area are slowly trying to catch up, with many inventors running around and such, but again, it's going slowly. Isolation is the key to this, ayup. However, due to some outside intervention, cars are slowly being witnessed in the villages, as well as the occasional biplane overhead.
Do Kloteck dogs/wolves live in packs? In villages?
Kloteck dogs and wolves live in packs, as they would today (in the wild). However, not all prefer to live in caves or on the ground, so they sometimes choose to live with a human owner/companion or make use of old abandoned cottages and/or villages. When talking about villages:
One village = One pack.
So, if you want to live in a village, you must be accepted into the pack first. Being packs, they also still have ranks, such as alphas, betas, scouts, etc., and work as a pack.
Can, or should, I kill off my own character?
Yes, you can kill off your own characters. However, think it over first. Once your character has kicked the bucket, they cannot suddenly rise from the dead if you change your mind after. In other words, be sure that you want to put one of your characters down before actually doing so via an RP.
Can I kill off another player's character?
No. Seriously manipulating another role player's character is considered god-modding, and is not acceptable. If the player in question gives you permission to do so, however, you may. Just be sure to follow their personal rules regarding the character's death.
What should my dog/wolf character's height and weight be?
Height and weight depends on breed and species. Here are a few details to help you out:
6 inches to 1 foot:
* Includes some terriers and most toy breeds, and corgis.
* Weights can range from 9 to 30 pounds.
1 foot to 2 feet
* Includes most terriers and corgis, some small herding breeds and spaniels.
* Weights can range from 30 to 60 pounds.
2 to 3 feet
* Includes some terriers, most herding and working breeds (such as Kahvie, who is around 2.2 feet).
* Weights can range from 60 to 80 pounds.
3 to 3.6 feet
* Includes most timber wolves (such as Nightshade, who is 3.6 feet) and some working and sighthound dog breeds.
* Weights can range from 80 to 160 pounds.
3.6 to 4 feet
* Requires mod or admin permission.
* Is very rare, but can be seen in breeds such as Irish wolfhounds and some mastiffs.
* Actually, anything above 3.6 feet shouldn't really exist, so it is rarely accepted by the mods/admin. It's best to stay below that, unless your character has a very good reason for being so huge.
* Weights can range from 160 to 200 pounds.
How are in character fights organized?
Information regarding fights can be found here
Is there a literacy requirement for this board?
Nope, we accept players of all kinds here, regardless of their RPing skills. Just try to get at least a paragraph out in your posts (no one-liners).
Can I start my own pack?
We are currently not accepting any pack requests due to the fact that the board is still very small. However, if we ever reach a large amount of active members, this may change.
I want to play more than one character here. Should I create a seperate account for them?
Due to having a lot of dead accounts on this board, we ask that you please keep all your characters on your main account. This does not apply to comic characters, however.
Can animals of different species communicate with each other, or does a language barrier exist between them? What about communication between humans and animals?
No, there is no language barrier. Different species might have their own twist on speaking, but that is up to you to decide in RP on a case-by-case basis. Just remember that animals cannot communicate with humans here, and the animals themselves cannot generally understand human speech. They can associate common words with actions or objects, though (i.e. a trained dog might recognize words like "sit" and "lay" with the actions they were taught to perform upon hearing them, and thus can "understand" the command).
Someone else has already created a character with the name I want to use! Can I still use said name?
It depends. If the character whose name you want is actively being role played, please try and choose a different name. However, if the name you want appears to be inactive (not role played with in over three months or never RPed with at all), you may use it. Just be sure your character and your profile has a distinguishing avatar or image in the signature so that other players will know your character is not the inactive character with the same name.
My account was deleted! Did I do something wrong?
If your account has been deleted, it's because we have a rediculous amount of inactive accounts and sometimes I go through and delete them to free up names and space. You may rejoin if you like and plan to stay active, no problem. Don't want your account deleted in the future? Then please stay active here. Otherwise, dead accounts go bye-bye. Also, if you did something wrong, we'd tell you and warn you. It's hard to "do something wrong" here though, since we are very laid-back rule-wise.
