Stevie smiled ever so slightly that Logan had actually minded his Ps and Qs, but still she didn't look exactly pleased at the pup, who was inappropriately growlly at her. Perhaps she was cold, but she had no ability to recognize it...but after a slight warning grumble, she let her annoyance slide.
"Best not let that happen then,eh?"
"Exactly...he's usually a good enough boy, " The big blond made certain to put emphasis on that certain point, just to make sure that she was still not completely happy with the pup, "But...the streets aren't currently safe for a young pet like himself to run around, there have been wolves and hybrids sniffing around..." There was the real meat of the issue, it wasn't that Stevie didn't trust Logan out on his own, it was more that she didn't trust the beasts that haunted the village when she wasn't on patrol. It made her hackles raise for just a moment. But fortunately, Tony's questions seemed to alleviate those sorts of thoughts from her mind...for now.
"So, Stevie, I figure you'd know this, what exactly does this pack of yours do in a village anyway? With people around I don't really see the point to it."
Stevie looked up at Tony and smiled, "People sleep at night, and most of 'em...the human pups, the females, the old...they can't protect themselves much. " she hums a little, a bit of pride in her voice. "We get where the humans can't go, see what they can't see...humans aren't all that bright...they can't tell the difference between a good dog and a dangerous half-breed. They don't even know a good dog from a bad dog. Can't smell sickness. Humans don't know what we know. " Really they were worthless animals, humans...without their guns, and food she hardly knew why she went from her wild pack into the village...instinct, most like...
"Most of Hallow are pets, and working dogs who do this double duty. Protecting their companions from themselves, I guess...since well, humans are smart...but their instincts are dull." she shrugged a little, she wasn't a pet or a working dog, no collar and she generally just looked a bit...unkempt. Anthony's tail and nose twitched eagerly as Stevie spoke. As much as he loved his master he had to admit that the blonde dog's words were true. Master could provide food, and shelter, and about a million other things but when it came to senses the man was like a new born pup. A few times in the night Tony had gotten a paw stepped on by the clumsy two-legged walk of his master. Anthony opened his mouth to speak, but Stevie was not done yet so he closed it, not wanting to interrupt.
"Double duty, huh?" Tony said, tilting his head slightly. "Betcha I'd be good at that." Tony lifted his his head proudly. "Not to brag or nothin', but I can be pretty good when it comes to a scrape or somethin' like that. You shoulda seen some of the dogs that roamed my old town. Not wolves, but I swear they were vicious as anything." The mutt was exaggerating, but then again what story didn't have at least some exaggeration? "I am a guard dog after all. Maybe I could be a scout." He added the last sentence with a grin and was half-joking. Still there was a part in the back of his brain than genuinely meant what he was saying whether he knew it or not.

"Exactly...he's usually a good enough boy, But...the streets aren't currently safe for a young pet like himself to run around, there have been wolves and hybrids sniffing around..."
Wolves? Logan's ears perked up in alarm as he stepped away from his meal. The mention of the nightmarish monsters fully quelling his appetite. He'd heard of those creatures from other pets as well as from bedtime stories his father had told he and his siblings just before their mother came bursting in to save them from any gory sequences. From what he could remember, the giant canines were lean and fearsome with dagger-like fangs and claws that could skin you alive. At first, he thought they were only a fictional species like goblins, but from hearing so many adults talking so seriously about them, he had come to realize that they were, in fact, real.
The terrier only half listened to what Stevie was saying about humans. Something about them being dull, which was completely true. His own human was testament of that. Those giant hooves almost crushing him at least once every other day... Logan shivered at the thought. He waited patiently for a gap in the conversation before voicing his concerns.
"Why are wolves hanging around here? And what's a hybrid?"

"Betcha I'd be good at that."
Stevie nodded, "And I'd appreciate the help around here...but you'd have to bring it up to the boss man, or his lady. Wesley and Echo. I can welcome ya well enough, but...I can't make you a scout." she chuckled a little, remembering guard dogs she had known when she had been a rogue, they were a lazy lot, more for looking scary than actually making good with their threats, but this Tony looked like he could do some damage if he wanted.
"Though, its not all fighting, you gotta be sociable-like too." The blond lifted up a paw and swung it around, gesturing while she spoke, rolling her eyes a little as she thought about it, it wasn't her favorite part of the gig, she liked talking well enough...but she wasn't always the most polite bitch around the block. "But...I enjoy it."
Now, the pup's questions, now that piqued her interest a bit more, why wolves? Well that would be easy enough to answer, even though she wasn't the biggest fan of these turns of events. "Well, the wolves, their packs are all fightin', so they've been sniffing around for easier places to make a living...at least, that's what I've heard. I don't know though, when I lived out in the wild...well we did best to avoid that sort of crowd." She cleared her throat and then finished up the second part of Logan's inquiry. "A hybrid is a half-wolf...not quite wild...not quite tame...most of them are crazier than a bag of wet cats..."

(sorry for the wait)
Anthony pricked his ears forward. Wesley and Echo? He'd heard some other dogs mention those names before, but he hadn't known who they had been refering to. So those were the alphas. Tony twiched pawed the ground as he thought. "I can do sociable," the mutt replied with a toothy grin. "Might just have to find this Echo or Wesley or whoever. Who knows...might be a new scout prowling about." Tony wagged his tail. He had been kidding before, but the more he talked about becoming a scout the more appealing it became. He allowed himself to imagine scouting around the town, protecting it from all sorts of dangers. Unconciously Anthony stood a little taller.
The black dog shivered slightly as he heard the talk of hybrids. He thought they smelled funny and he didn't like the idea of a animal that mixed species. It just didn't seem right. "Hybrids..." he snorted. "I wouldn't sniff one of them if you gave me a whole sirloin steak. They're worse than crazy...and in my experience they usually smell worse than wet cats too."

((Now I think Taggr had decided to get rid of Logan or something like that so I'm just going to take over closing this up and we can start another thread if you like ^^))
Stevie yawned and stretched out, dragging her nails over the cobblestones as she stood back up and smiled at Tony. "I think you'd do just fine." she laughed and then started to scratch her chin a bit, making a slight grunt as she got a particularly itchy spot.
"Might just have to find this Echo or Wesley or whoever. Who knows...might be a new scout prowling about."
The big female got a strange little smirk on her face as her ears perked. "Well hope that you do." Without trying to sound funny, she was dog tired of running about on her lonesome, it was nothing but sleep and patrol right now.
"But speakin' of scouts, I should prolly get back to patrol, make sure nothing is up..." she looked around cautiously up and down the street with a bit of a huff. "I'll...I'll see you around Tony, you take care..."

(Alrighty. And another thread sounds nice ) "See ya, Stevie," Tony grinned wagging his stump of a tail. "And maybe next time I see you it'll be on patrol." The large mutt pawed the ground anxiously as he though. A scout! His mind was already far off in day dreams of patroling, fighting off wolves and all such things. Even as he watched the other dog go he couldn't help but feel an ache to follow after. Not now, Tony, his brain reminded him. Gotta wait until you meet an alpha first. "And then I can be a scout..." he mused, dreamily to himself. "I'd like that. I'd like that a lot."
