"He just needs to take things facil...you know...easy-like." Viernes was soothed a bit by the fact that the boy wasn't at death's door. She had a bit of a sensitive streak...all of her passions ran a little high to tell the truth. But that was just the way she was. "But I'm glad it is not serious..." She moved along investigating the mess.
The ruins itself weren't impressive, picked over and pretty old, there wasn't much of value or interest about. But she kept optimistic. "You know, I'm not too used to this place...bit different from home." Yeah, because it was cold, real cold. But still she made small talk as she dug around in the icy muck.
"Hmmmm" she pulled up a rusty doorknob and shrugged. It wasn't very pretty, but still it was better than a big old rock.

"That is correct. His mother seems to advocate the same thing. Wise woman, I can guess that it is she that the lad inherited his mind." Sparky nodded.
Sparky nudged a burnt timber to the side and dug beneath it, seeking something. "Where is home, if you do not mind me asking." He paused long enough to look sideways at her, a broad grin plastered on his face.
He went back to digging in the ash and dirt. He lept back with a happy yip, the scorched and tattered remains of an old book held in his mouth. Nothing remained of the pages, except for a few tattered remnants clinging to the binding, which in turn was scorched beyond hope of legibility. "A tome of lost and ancient knowledge, no doubt." He marched proudly to the edge of the foundation and dropped it onto the ground. "Come my lady, we shall collect the relics and place them in a pile here. Place that golden orb over here, we shall examine it after our dig nears completion, to analyze its importance."
With a broad grin he lept back into the building, continuing his search.

Viernes spat out the doorknob on the pile that Sparky was building for his human owner, she she moved around she answered his question. "Just outside...La Rioja, Spain...I lived near the Marqués de Riscal. On a vineyard before took to traveling." Her dusky accent was a surefire sign that she was probably not lying to the male.
"So how are you going to get this all home to your Tom?" The pile was probably going to get bigger and bigger what with all the trash-treasure they were bound to find in this mess.

"Spain? You are indeed quite a ways from home. How, and why, did you end up around here? Again, if you do not mind my asking." He grinned and pushed aside an old bookcase and rooted around in the scorched books underneath, though none of them seemed to intrigue him as much as the first had.
"Perhaps we shall find a sheet to carry it in. If not, I am more then willing to carry them piece by piece back to his home." He flashed a toothy grin. "I am nothing if not dedicated."
Not wishing to toot his own horn overmuch, he turned back to his exploring. Sticking his nose into a destroyed cabinet, looking for goodies.

"I was on a traveling expedition with my uncle and his...assistant. We were observing the last wonders of the world, before they get blown up or destroyed." Viernes dug along the foundation lines, seeming not to look up at the male. "My uncle died and i seperated myself from the situation, and stayed here." It wasn't all a lie, she did though leave poor James on a slow boat to China...probably.
"Now I'm traveling in these parts. But its dangerous work, there are packs for vicious dogs in almost everyland, and even worse wolves in others." the delicate female shook her head ever so slightly. "its dangerous to be out there..."
Viernes peered at the hole she was digging and frowned, nothing good yet.

"A noble, if depressing, mission, if I do say so myself." He nodded solemnly, pausing in his searching. "I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. He sounds like he may have been the sort I'd like to meet."
"Indeed. Tom and I have journeyed far afield ourselves, and it is far from safe." He nodded again, then perked up slightly. "Why worry about that, though. There is much unsolved history in these parts, and who knows, perhaps Tom and I could journey to farther lands with some added assistence..." He trailed off, making the statement sound slightly like a question.
Turning back to the cabinet, Sparky continued to scrounge, after a long moment he stopped and stepped back. "Hmm... Could it be? This looks like one of the fabled Spears of Power." He stepped, a scorched kitchen knife held in his muzzle. He nodded slightly and walked over to drop it on the pile.

"Yeah...he was...some guy." Viernes poked about and then paused, looking at the male oddly. Blinking some? Was he inviting her to stay with his family?
"Well its a bit tricky...keeping safe out in the field...maybe you and Tom, would be best sticking to the unsolved mysteries closer to home" she shook her head, and sighed, snickering as he pulled up the large burnt knife, claiming the thing was a spear head.
