Matt growned and huffed as he found a stable possition and was sure that he would loose his balance again soon."Th...thank you" The mutt was able to speak to Wes in a whisper. He shut his eyes for a quick second, wich turned out to be longer than that before he felt the warm fur of Wes's pressed against his side and releiving some of his pain. He looked up at Wes with sorrowful eyes but gave a slight smile.
He then started to put one paw infront of the other and try to transfer his weight. Several times he lost balance and fell again. With each fall came a loud and hurtful cry of pain from Matt'slips."im sorry..." He cried up to Wes. "I dont mean to be such a burden to you...you can leave me if you want.. He was cut off by another onset of heavy coughing. He rolled onto his stomach and felt blood in his mouth as small droplets lightly spattered on the allyway street. Matt saw the blood and his heart sank. 'i cant go on..im gonna die here' he thought to himself. He looked back up at Wes with weary eyes and a sorrowful look more than the previous one. "why are you helping me in the beginning?" He questioned Wes as he just now realized that some stranger was willing to help him, unlike most others before Wes.

Wesley felt Matt's gratitude as their sides were pressed together in a momentary relaxation of muscles. However, it was an arduous, though brief, trek to the cart and poor Matt wasn't holding up well. Wes continued to move steadily forward until his leaning counterpart toppled down again. "Just a bit further." He consoled to the Mat whose coughs racked his entire body. This lad, coated in filth and grime, wasn't going to make it unless he had help.
Fussing over his fallen figure, Wes found enough to have to proclaim, "Nonsense." Unto Matt's comments he had whispered or remarked in their sluggish and short journey. Wesley wasn't seeking gratitude right now. What he was doing was sheer instinct, common sense, and the duty of being alpha of Hallow playing the most minor of roles in his maneuvers. One did not kick a dog in trouble unless a truly heartless wolf. All dogs wanted community and those who were not their enemies to survive. This was no different for Wesley.
"I won't leave you. I am already as filthy as you are and I could bathe for two alone or help bathe two which I'd prefer. Not to mention, doing a good deed always makes one feel good, no? I am alpha also; it means I am supposed to take care of you. And beyond all that, I truly just want to help. Therefore, stop with the weak apologies and let's get your sack of fur in the cart so you don't die in this miserable stone alley, hm?" Wesley stated, trying to lighten the mood and comfort Matt at the same time. The longer the mutt dawdled with his apologies and wallowing, the less likely they were going to be able to make it anywhere.
"Now, let's move."

Matt lightly chuckled at Wes's remarks. ' I think i might have found a place to be...a place where i will be welcomed and not run in fears of anything or anyone.' Matt got inspired by this wonderful thought and again tried to get to his feet. It hurt emensly but not as much as previously before, and this time; he had a smile upon his face. The fear that was emulating from him had faded and was almost completly gone. He had found new hope with Wes and possibly any of the other Hallow Pack Members. He might have found acceptance when he least thought he could.
His wobbly frame made its way across the ally, his breathing became more heavy and his panting more severe, for his body didnt match his enthusiasm for the moment. He paused just before the cart and took in a deep breath as he bared his teeth through pressure and lept as best as he could upon it. His body hit the wooden cart with a thud. Once he felt the wood under him he let out a long sigh of releif as his muscles pratically gave out right on the spot. He could not move for a few more minutes or possibly another hour. He needed to recooperate. But atleast he made it onto the cart and felt even safer now that he knew that Wes would truely not leave him there to die. His first thoughts that he had when he entered the small village left like fleeting migrating birds and new happy and joyous ones replaced them. He no longer felt like he wanted to die.

Wes felt a change in Matt and followed beside him as the dog inched his way with new enthusiasm towards the cart. It was amazing what one could do when they truly put their mind to it. If Matt wasn't proof of that, Wes didn't know what was. After all, this mix hadn't managed to stand, but found strength in a thought and would reach his destination which seemed like such a great achievement to both Matt and Wesley.
As soon as he heard a thunk and the sigh of the cart as weight was loading into it, Wesley scurried around the edges of cart checking to make sure nothing was dragging and all was safe and sound. Discovering a few of the empty sacks and a blanket in there he nudged them towards Matt before jumping on the cart to rearrange them over him. "That should keep you for the time being." Wesley said with a nod of satisfaction. Matt had done his part to climb into the cart; now Wes needed to take him to safety where he could recover. "We're on our way."
Sliding into the harness, Wesley eased the cart forward before guiding the small cart easily towards the outskirts of Hallow where a brook ran through. Even if Matt wasn't really up for a swim, he needed water and he needed to rinse some of the filth from him. "You just lie there and I'll fetch a pale to rinse you off. It'll be cold, but hopefully this chill won’t make you worse." Wesley said, listening for the echoing sound of the well beside the stream. Where there was a well, there must also be a bucket.

Matt simply dozed off into a light unconciousness. He was still aware of the surrounding noises and scents...but had no will to react. He felt as though he was in no need to move. Wesley's comforting voice was enough for Matt to continue living. In his mind thoughts ran past. Some were to blurry to acknowledge and others were clearly stated in his mind. The main one being that after he had healed he wanted to make it up to Wes somehow for saving his life. He knew he would have no inimate chance with Wesley, but maybe they could become good friends. This thought brought a smile to his face as he slowly opened his eyes and noted the small stream and surrounding area. The fresh smell of the water clensed his nose and lungs from the putrid stench of the waste that he was laying in earlier.
He would not mind the cold water, for as cold as he felt he was; he also felt hot as well. It was a new sensation for matt but a good cold pale of water sounded quite inviting and helpful. He nodded some as he watched Wes go to the near by well.

Wesley stalked along the bank carefully pinpointing the location of the well. Of the many places Wesley roamed, running water was one of the places he struggled with the most because a great deal of sound which he relied on was drowned out. Not to mention, the water, despite its refreshing quality, dulled certain odors while intensifying others. Naturally, metal didn't have a strong smell anyway and he had to listen for the slightest metallic twang in the air. Gotcha.
A light breeze had shaken the well pale from its post making it sing against one of its post as it shifted to and fro from even such a mild gust. However, Wes wasn't after this pale attached to another object but to the one he always knew resided at the well for the just-in-case reasons. Circling carefully around the stony structure, his paw lightly tapped the tin which Wes swooped up in a heartbeat. His teeth gently clamped the roped handle before he began to pad towards the brook: fear number two.
The brook was gentle and pleasant this time of year because the snow from the surroundings mountains had not yet filled the lungs of this quaint riverbed to capacity. Although Wesley knew this, too many close encounters made him extremely wary as he waded into the water. he wanted to ensure that an ample amount of water filled the bucket while also desiring to clean himself of the scum which clung to his figure. Easy does it lad, easy now. He thought, feeling the water's gentle pull on the bucket as he sank deeper into the water. The deed was almost done.
Wesley didn't need further persuasion to climb out of the water and back to Matt. He wanted to wash the pup up, bring him another bit for something to quench his throat and then carry him off to security where he could fully recuperate. Wes arrived at the cart and confidently bounded up onto the carrying platform where Matt dozed. "Hope this isn't too cold for you." He said through gritted teeth as he lifted one paw to tilt the bottom of the bucket onto Matt. For being blind, meticulous tasks weren't as difficult for a hound like Wes as one might imagine. Years of practice were truly handy in such a situation.
After the pale was empty, Wes darted back towards the river before returning again with greater agility. He hoped Matt was still conscious enough to lift his head since there wasn't a bowl conveniently located he could stick his muzzle into. "Alright Matty boy, plunge your muzzle into this and you are on the road to recovery." Wes commented, wondering for, not the first time, where Echo was today. He supposed that he would have to introduce Matt to her later.
OOC|Sorry for all the talk about nothing. Let me know if you want to wrap up this acceptance thread or not. Otherwise, we can play it out for a while. ^^
