Black paws trotted swiftly over the lands known as Synl as they carried the muddied white fae towards her goal. Kross had been to the treasure cave in Sallin and had brought back a trinket to present to Kahvie. Her crimson eyes looked dead ahead until the territory looked familiar, then she slowed. Lifting her slender white maw to the sky, she howled, calling for the alphess.
A stream ran nearby and without hesitating she leapt into it. The water was cold, but it cleaned her coat back to it's pearled ivory color. Once her coat was clean she got out and shook herself dry. After she regained her old look she coughed up the necklace she had taken and waited for the dog queen to come to her.

It had been many moons since the hybrid who called herself Kross had expressed interest in Synl's beta position...not having seen the female since the alpha had sent her on her quest however, Kahvie had begun wondering if Kross had found a better oportunity somewhere beyond the horizon, or worse: killed. And now as the border mix found herself wandering Synl's borders, a familiar cry found it's way through the dark trees, a request for her presence.
Had Kross returned?
A mess of fur carried swiftly through the forest by cream paws, the alpha searched for the owner of the call. It wasn't long before Kahvie found herself just a few feet from the black and white female, a bit damp as she was. At Kross' feet lay a beautiful necklace...no doubt Nightshade's.
"Welcome back, Kross...I suspect this is the item I sent you for, is it not?"

"Welcome back, Kross...I suspect this is the item I sent you for, is it not?"
Kross's Black ears perked as the Alphess spoke and she lowered herself to the proper position, her fur still slightly damp. She gave a single nod to the Alphess's question before she spoke.
"It is, Mi'lady. I hope it will be sufficient?"
Kross had been away a while, and she wondered if her position would still be there, or if the pack would still accept her, but she thought of nothing as Kahvie looked over her new prize.

At Kross' reply, the dog approached the necklace, circling it three times before pushing it around with her cream paw. Of course, it was beyond expectation, but the alpha wanted to leave the hybrid hanging for a moment, as she suspected the average pack leader might do. Finally getting bored of the act after one last circle, Kahvie raised her head and faced Kross.
"It is sufficient. This proves your skill, and shows that you could indeed handle a job as a beta here in Synl. If you are ready, I am prepared to give you the position."

Kross smiled with satisfaction as the Alphess gave her decision. She had waited a long time for this, and was relieved that she had done well enough to earn her rank. She took a calming breath and replied.
"I am ready as you are willing, mi'lady."
She bowed her head and waited until Kahvie spoke again.

Kahvie cocked her head slighty as Kross bowed, her white fur covering her eyes as she did so. While the alpha did command respect from her pack members, she didn't command that they always kept their head lower than hers, especially with her somewhat short stature, which no doubt made it hard for larger canines. That, and with her modest nature, it made the mutt uncomfortable
"You may raise your head...while I appreciate the motion, I don't demand it. It's, uh, still a bit strange to me. As for duties, all I ask is that you stay within the lands for a majority of your time as a beta, and approach new members when they ask for acceptance. We...we already have a male beta here, my brother Nisse. He doesn't come around very often, though. Never has, really. If you see him, I encourage you to approach him and announce yourself."
(OOC: Okidoki, I'd say that's it! If Kross doesn't have anything else to say, she may roam the packlands with her new status)
