Shila was extremely hungry, and if it wasn't for that fact, she'd stuck her nose up at the rabbit that the dog dropped at her feet. Shila had never recieved whole prey food before-all her meat was given to her skinned and cleaned. But her instincts kicked in and as gracefully as she could, dove into the the rabbit, tearing the stiff fur from it's body and filling her hungry stomach.
Shila made quick work of the rabbit and looked to the water that the dog had mentioned. She walked over and began to drink. The water was cool and refreshing and felt wonderful on her dry throat. There had not been much water offered to her on the ship. She looked back to the kind dog.
"Thank you so much for the food and water. It has been a long time since I've had any decent food or water." Shila paused, and realized that she did not yet know the name of the kind stranger before her.
"I'm sorry, but I didn' catch your name," she said, laying down to rest her tired, cramping legs.

Rallie smiled as Shila ate the rabbit. She turned around and padded over to a pile of herbs, mixing leaves with leaves and spices to make a small poultice. She ate that, and drank some water after Shila did.
" Your welcome, Shila. " Rallie replied to the other dog. Sitting down and raising a hind paw to scratch at an itchy spot behind her ear, she grinned. Putting her leg back down to the floor, she answered Shila's question.
" I'm Rallie. You can call me Ral for short. "

Shila felt a little bad as she watched the dog eat some leaves. She hoped she had not just eaten her only dinner. Shila got the answer to her question as the dog sat after getting a drink....her name was Rallie.
"Rallie," Shila repeated, etching the name in her memory. "That is a nice name," she said.
Shila looked around the cabin. It was cozy for an abandonded human shelter, and Shila was glad that not many humans seemed to travel near here. Every now and then, she'd hold her breath as she heard footsteps, hoping the grumpy man was nowhere near. They had traveled a pretty good distance from the docks, it seemed to Shila, and she hoped it had been far enough.
She wondered about the area she was in. She was eger to explore, though it had to be after she knew for sure her captor had left. What would she do? What could she do here? She was afraid to trust humans again, but she was somewhat helpless without them at the moment. Maybe she was better off without them, and maybe her new aquaintance, Rallie could give her a few pointers on living on her own.
Shila fought back the sleepiness that usually followed meals.
"What kind of place is this village? Is one free to roam here without permission? I'm very curious about it," Shila rambled.

Rallie smiled warmly at the comment on her name, and nodded. Shila was a nice name too, one Rallie hadn't heard before. but it was pretty, nonetheless. After a bit, Shila asked questions about the Port. This made Rallie smiled, and she stood, her tail wagging a bit.
" This, my freind, is the wonderful land of Rakine Port. You can roam around whereever you want here, but it's best toknow the lay of the land before you just go wandering through. There is a pack here, led by a small dog named..er..um..I can't seem to remember her name at the moment, but she allows you to roam free. Rakine is a basic paradise, if you know the Port well enough." Everything Rallie said was true. Rakine was a true paradise, and that is why Rallie chose to live there. Good food, you had to steal it, but good food nonetheless. Sighing inwardly, Rallie thought herself getting bored. She padded over to the door and stuck her head through the opening, and grinned widely. Sneaking her head back in through the door, she looked to Shila. " If you want to, I can show you around. It's sailing time for the boats that docked here earlier. Most of them are probably gone by now. So, what do you say?"

Shila smiled at the information. A pack...she knew packs, they had been everywhere in her village back home. They were all composed of the town's strays and were thieves and trouble makers-and Shila had always been curious. She'd always been the pampered pet, never being allowed to associate with anyone beyond the members of her sled team and the humans that surrounded her. She'd watch the strays from the comfort of her warm house, wondering what grand adventures they were experiencing on any given moment. Now, it was her chance to see.
Shila's ears perked up. She knew that her captor's ship was not supposed to leave until the morning, but this town seemed large enough to be able to hide and escape should they see him again, and her new friend Rallie obviously knew her way around the place well. She was in completely new waters here-alone and on her own for the first time in her life, and she was thankful for a friendly face and a knowledgeable soul to show her the ropes....she only hoped that she would not make a fool of herself and fail....she pushed the thought from her mind...she would never fail!
Shila stood to her feet, shaking away the drowsiness that was trying to overcome her. Her legs were sore, but her curious mind demanded she act. Her red ears perked and her blue eyes sparkled in anticipation and excitment....
"Yes, I'd love to see this place you call Rakine," she announced, a little to eagerly, Completely forgotten to her were the terrifying events from a short time ago. This was her chance for an adventure-her first real adventure.....

Rallie smiled, and turned back to the door. Leaving it, she called over her shoulder ' Stick close." She padded out of the shack and into the small little part of town that surrounded it. Shaking her fur a bit, she sent scraps of moss and grass out of her coat. Perking her floppy ears up, she shadowed her eyes from the sun. Padding out into Rakine, she smiled as the familiar scents hit her nose. Turning to say " C'mon!' to Shila, Rallie awaited the other canine. Turning then to pad off, she didn't wait for Shila a minute longer. It had been a good while since Rallie had been around rakine, and she was eager to get out and see the place again.

Shila eagerly followed Rallie out of the entrance when she told her to stick close. The evening sun was glaring in their eyes upon emerging from the broken door. Shila would be glad when it dipped below the horizion. Things seemed so different than they did just a few hours back. In fact, the terrifing events of her escape were but a blurred memory, and a new found excitment replacing those previous feelings as if they'd never existed. Shila was prone to extreme mood changes-she didn't realize it, but they plagued her all the same.
The atmosphere of the town was charged with excitement and wonder to the Malamute. She didn't even worry that her normally neat and proper pelt was a total mess and she smelled of old nets and semi rotten fish from the ship's cargo hold.
She turned to follow her new friend, Rallie, as the dog led her into the town.

((Yeah, you can join. I don't mind.)) Rallie smiled, paws falling onto the ground with grace. she knew this terrain well, alot more than other dogs did. Rallie used to travel, and she did miss those days, but Rakine..Rakine was her home. She had come across the port town when she was traveling with a group of other dogs. Finding beauty in the place, she stayed. the other dogs left her, and she lived for about two months on the streets before she found the shack she currently lived in. Rallie smiled. Her history was great. Well, to her, at least. As she turned a corner, she trotted onto a more crowded street. She twisted her way through the throng of humans, coming to a stop infront of a small shop. " This is Danny's Chicken Shop. Almost the best chicken in town, but very dangerous to get." With that said, she started off again, padding on a sidewalk very calmly. The people seemed to ignore her as they went about their lives. Rallie then saw the elderly people sitting on the bench they usually sat on, right outside the coffee shop. She padded up to them and yipped, wagging her tail. Laying her head on an old man's knee, she looked at him..and the sandwhich he had. He smiled, and tore her off a piece. She took it and wagged her tail, then ate the sandwich piece. She turned to Shila, and smiled, as if to say ' Go on. Try it.' Rallie sat down by an elderly women, and awaited Shila's reaction to what had happened.

Shila kept as close to Rallie as she could as the wise street dog wove her way through the hords of humans that crouded the busy street they had turned onto. There were shops everywhere with all kinds of stuff, humans standing outside the windows looking in...
Shila watched as Rallie manuvered among the people with ease and they ignored her-she kept bumpiing into them and they would give her dirty looks or would yell or try to kick at her. She was glad when Rallie stopped infront of a shop. The smell of fresh meat hung heavy in the air.....and Rallie announced it as the chicken shop....Chickens....Shila didn't think she'd ever eaten chicken...back in her home village, she was fed manily fresh deer or caribou, and lots of rabbits. The chickens were special to the humans and were not shared with the dogs....she would have to make sure she ate chicken one day...the tone of Rallie's voice and the expression as she observed the shop made Shila feel like she was missing out on a grand treat....
A loud CHOP sounded from inside the shop as Shila caught glimspe of an angry looking human as he stared back at the two dogs. The huge blade in his hand held high as he brought it down again, chopping a chicken in half with ease....he raised it again, glaring down at them, as if daring them to enter-a little of Shila's spunk left her, and she was glad when Rallie turned from the shop-yes, chicken were dangerous! How was she supposed to eat if all the food seemed so well protected? Shila's mind began to wander and grow worried.
She watched the street-wise dog head over to a bench where several old humans sat eating their dinners and visiting. She watched in curiosity as the dog got their attention and greeted them. Shila was surprised to the old male human's expression soften, and then tear a piece of his meal off and hand it over to Rallie. That's how it was done? She could handle this! Rallie's actions called her to action, and Shila eagerly trotted up to the group....hopefully they were as easy as the baby humans Shila had encountered in her travels....most of them would throw food at her, or let it hang out over the side and not pay attention.... she eyed each one carefully...the male human that had given Rallie a bite didn't have much left. Two older female humans had plenty-which one to go to? Shila walked up to them both, wagging her tail, the most friendly look she could come up with on her face. She sat her head down on the bench between the two females, and looked up at them both with pleading eyes, whining ever so slightly. One cooed at her and pet her, calling her nice dog and the such, the other seemed to ignore her...but no food came. shila lifted her head...this would not do! She anxiously eyed both women's sandwinches, whining louder, her tail shaking. "Oh all right!," one woman huffed, tearing a piece off her meal and tossing it to Shila. She caught it, and as soon as the flavors hit her tounge, she dropped it. Never had she ever tasted such a thing! It was so odd and new and confusing at the same time. She sniffed the bit, picked it up agian, this time holding it in her mouth longer-it was GOOD! She swallowed it down....she was gonna like this street life! she walked over to where Rallie sat.
"Whatever that food was, it was really good! I never knew humans had such good things to eat!" she announced as she sat.

Meanwhile, not too far way, a female border collie enters the port for maybe the first time. The female's name was Fjäril.
Fjäril strolled through port slowly. Her paws were a bit small so she couldn't help but have a small 'bounce' in her gait. Plus, it was how she walked since her birth..at least, since she first started to walk. Fjäril looked around with curiosity. I've never seen so many humans in one place before. Yes, there were a lot of humans. It intimidated her, especially when some of them would turn around and stare at her with a strange expression on their face. The younger and shorter humans would smile at her, which made her happier, but then they would stretch their short arms out at her abruptly and tried to grab at her. Before they could reach her, another taller human would yank at their arm and pull them away. Some of them would start to scream and move violently, like a little demon that had been unleashed by some kind of spell. Fjäril easily became frightened by this, and she changed her walk into a run and sprinted away from the crowd of traveling people, to a nice open area. Fjäril looked around again, now that she was in better surroundings. What she saw was more people traveling back and forth, some stray dogs being fed by elder humans, and…a nice plump dead chicken lying on the ground? It was pretty far away..she wasn’t even sure it was a chicken, but she’s been smelling something quite delicious and pretty raw ever since she had come through the area. Slowly, she walked towards the supposed ‘chicken’.
Why would a good chicken like this be laying out in the open? Fjäril tilted her head to the side, letting one ear flop on top of her head. It was indeed a chicken, or some kind of feathered animal. Fjäril pushed it around with her muzzle to make sure it was good and dead. She would hate for it to jump up and attack her suddenly while she tried to eat it. Confirming it was no longer living, Fjäril began to pick and pluck the feathers gingerly. And when she got most of the feathers out of the away, she started to rip away the meat and eat it. This..flavor Her tongue screamed as the flavors touched her taste buds. She had never tasted something so good!

Rallie smiled, and chuckled a bit as Shila tasted the new food. She'd never tasted this meat before, had she? This made Rallie's lips turn into a grin, and she wagged her tail. Standing up, she stretched herself, then shook her pelt. She cocked up one of her ears, and listened. The usual sounds of the street rolled into her ears, and she nodded. Everything was in order. Well, almost everything. A scent passed through her nose, one she hadn't smelt before. Rallie looked around, her ears pricked up. Seeing the dog, this caught Rallie's interest. Two new dogs in one day! This hadn't happened since..three days ago! Yes, it was three! Rallie looked to Shila, and smiled. " New meat." she said, then she darted over to the dog. Rallie's grin quickly faded as she saw what the dog was eating. Horrified, Rallie stared at the dog. She stood rigid, and her spine tingled. " You..dog..don't move. Please, put..that..chicken..down. Now. Look..over there..in that alley beside you..you see that string..tied to that chicken your eating? It leads somewhere..dreadful..If you want to live, move away slowly..."

[OMG-guys I'm so sorry! Me and Rallie posted just one minute apart the other day, and I didn't even relize it-So sorry! *hide her head in shame and embarassment...]
Shila noticed Rallie smiling in amusement at her as she sat down next to her after eating her bit of sandwich. She suddenly felt a bit silly....but she couldn't help that the only things she'd ever tasted were what her master fed her and her team...she didn't get much else, as she was feed high protein foods to give them plenty of energy for the race.
She watched as Rallie stood and looked around, observing the activities of the area around, wisdom and experience in her eyes. Shila was glad to have met her, glad that someone with such knowlege of the area was willing to befriend her and help her in her new surroundings.
suddenly, Rallie's expression became much more serious, a look of fear even. Shila was confused at the dog's sudden change, as Rallie stood, bristling. Shila jumped to her feet, fear filling her eyes. She glanced in every direction, attempting to see what had caused her new friend to react in such a way....hopefully, her captor had not been spotted....
then she spotted the new, somewhat brightly colored dog with what appeared to be.....a chicken? not only any chicken, it looked like the spot where Rallie had dropped her chicken when she'd rescued her hours earlier...but something was wrong, something not right....
As Rallie spoke slowly and sternly to the new dog, mentioning the string, Shila spotted it...the string tied to the chicken that led out of sight...some sort of trap, she thought.
"Rallie, isn't that your chicken you dropped earlier?" Shila asked, fear in her voice. She was not sure what was happening....
[next time i do something stupid like this, feel free to wack me with a PM....lol]
