The darkness of night weighed heavily on everything in sight. There was such a heavy weight, burden, and everything seemed to be buckling under pressure. A fog, creeping and snaking along the ground, filling every void, began to rise until the ground could no longer be seen. Shanda stood there in the middle of it, fog and creepy mist half way up to her elbows. She trembled in fear, looking for anything familiar; her earthen den, the beach, anything, but all she could see was darkness and fog. And then came sounds, very light at first, but steadily growing louder; voices whispering…
“Tarot? Devi? Is that you?” She called out, but the sound of her voice seemed to travel no further than escaping her maw and then was gone….What was going on! Shanda spun around in place, her eyes darting back and forth. Something evil was out this strange night, and the more she stood there, the more she felt it was after her. The whispers grew slightly louder, and she began to make out words.
“….half-breed…..Good for nothing half-breed….”came the whispers. “Everything you come in contact with dies, everyone you meet is repulsed by your presence…”Shanda’s eyes grew wide…depression hit her like a brick up side the head….”You are cursed, you filthy creature….” Had her old tormentors found her? Had they come looking for her?
“NOOO!” she screamed into the darkness, a dead fear gripping her, and she bolted into the darkness, had to get away from here. She did not know where she was going. She felt sharp limbs grab at her legs as she ran. Light-up ahead-She slowed as a figure appeared…tall and dark. She strained her eyes to see…a red and blue glow from the creature’s eyes….
“Devi? Devi is that you? I’m so sorry….” She started, but the creature turned its back to her, and seemed to be silently sobbing. She took a few steps towards him. Just as she would have reached his side, he spun around, a flash of sharp white teeth, blue and red eyes narrowed to glowing slits…. “Filthy, cursed half-breed!” an unnatural roar erupted from the beast as it lunged at her….
Shanda jerked out of her troubled sleep, wacking her head on the tangled rootmass of her earthen den. A surprised yelp escaped her maw immediately followed by a whine of pain. Her entire body trembled in fear, and the den was so stuffy, she could scarcely breath. She slowly stood to her feet, her body weak from having eaten nothing for 3 days. In fact, she’d scarcely even left her den after that night on the beach with Devi and Tarot, except to relieve herself. This bout of depression had been the worst she’d ever been through. She crawled out of the entrance, and clawed her way onto the old fallen tree. It was a beautiful night, the stars shown brightly from above, but she did not notice. She flopped down upon smooth trunk, her head resting on her paws, as the cool breeze drifted over her. Her trembling soon was replaced with silent sobs, erupting out of the depths of her being….she’d never felt so alone in her life…and this time, it was all her own doing….she’d driven her only friends away…her and her cursed blood….
What had she done.....
[sorry about the length....]

[[Hope you don't mind me putting him in the same dream.^^]]
Darkness. It was everywhere, on everything. A think mist hug within the air, suffocating, taking the ground away from sight. A blue eye opened, then a red, as he looked around. He saw nothing but black and white, and hues of grey and silver; the colors that were the fog and that void, sea of black. Where was he? How did he get here? These questions came to his thoughts, but they seemed to leap out of his brain, echoing everywhere. Anyone is hearing distance would have located it within their rang of hearing.
Pulling back his dark auds, Devi shook. Not in fear, but in anger. Anger that went only to himself. Not forgotten was the day he went near mad, and sprang everywhere, ripping up everything. Then, he finally saw his brother, and even found some how to actually give a lick to his crush....but she looked as though she had turned on him the moment he did, and still her face haunted him. Those white fans, clenched together, her breath in his face, those angry words....and the fact that he had hurt her nearly broke him.
“NOOO!”, came the scream through the darkness, causing Devi to jump in fright and whirl around to face the direction he thought he had heard it come from. Worst of all, was the fact of who's voice it sounded like. If she was hurt....he would never forgive himself again, even if it this time was not his doing. His legs sprinted along, throwing him in that direction. But, he couldn't see anything but the fog and darkness; he couldn't even see the ground beneath his paws. Maybe there was none.
He called out into the void, screaming nearly, her very name. "Shanda! SHANDA!" He ran and called till his lungs hurt, but still he couldn't find her. In desperation, he switched directions, turned left, and found himself at a sight he never would have thought. Was that...was that him? But how? He was right there, frozen as a statue, but there, and somehow, there was another of him. What was going on!?
"Devi? Devi is that you? I’m so sorry….”, a voice came to his ears, and he tunred his head sharply. A smile spread across his maw as reconized the figure. She had spoken, but the other him turned around, and was crying. What the-? Just as she approached his side.....His voice came out fast, not the fake one, but his, his only voice, his true voice, crying out to her in that final moment..."SHANDA! NNOOO!!"
Divintations woke with a star, his body flying upward, all four legs underneath him. He whirled around, trying to catch another glimpse of his other self, and his lover, but now all he saw was the forest that surrounded him now..the darkness and fog was no longer. His eyes were wide, scared for her and hoping again that she was alright. If she had been caught by that thing....oh, he could bear to think about it!
He dropped to the ground, his body was heaving with sobbs, and he couldn't control the shaking. He muttered her name over and over, even cursing himself....until he lost his control, and darted up, whirling around, and running to where he last saw her. The beach. He got there, his pants coming out hard, and yet, he found nothing but the sand and water. Boltign of again, he hit the tree line and barelled within it, still, he found nothing. Until, he came to an old, fallen tree, laying on it's side. He paid no head, and he hadn't noticed her for he collapsed by it, out of breath and tears streaking down his dark face. His voice came again to the night air, loud, calling out still, hoping somewhere, wherever she was, that she would hear him.
"Shanda...."
[[Sorry its a novel....and it took me so long. But I love this!]]

Her breathing calmed and body finally cooled by the gentle breeze, Shanda had again fallen into a restless, dreamless slumber, her body weakened by her own doing and drained to nothing from her earlier crying. Her name echoed in her head, but she had no energy left to wake herself up. She seemed to be spiriling deeper and deeper into darkness again, and only faintly did she hear the sounds of movement in the forest, the faintest hint of crying....Her name rang out again, this time louder. She felt herself rising upwards, lifting up out of the dark void she'd been sliding into...rising...rising-until finally her heavy eyelids lifted ever so slightly. Moonlit forest...stars....cool night breeze greeted her weary eyes. Her body felt so heavy, and she had not even the strenght at the moment to lift her head. Had she been dreaming again?
She looked terrible. Her once soft, neatly kept pelt was matted with the sand, dirt and leaves of her den's floor, the long black forelock a tangled mess, her dirty face streaked with tears that would no longer come from the onset of dehydration.
A noise...close...very close. She opened her eyes a bit wider, forcing herself to come to her senses a little more, and strained to focus herself on her surroundings....the sounds of crying, coming from very close to her den. A somewhat familiar scent drifted up on the breeze...she forced herself to concentrate....put a name with the scent.....Devi?
She raised her head now, looking about the area around the fallen tree. She could hear the movement, the silent sobs. She struggled to her feet, feeling off balance on the rounded shape of the tree, and stumbled. She caught herself before she fell, claws grasping at the smooth surface, causing the fall to turn into more of a slip over the side. Her hind paws hit the cool earth as her forelegs came to rest on the side of the old tree. She winced slightly at the pressure on her sprained rear paw, but it was slowly getting better. She brought all four mits to the earth, closing her eyes a minute to stop her spinning vision.
The scent of another came again, stronger, and she opened her eyes. She took a few unsteady steps until she came to the huge root mass and the dark opening that was her den benieth them...it was empty...she continued around the mass of earth and to the backside of the tree, the side that faced the beach....She had to look twice...but there was the dark form lying crumped against the tree, not far from where she'd been laying above...she hesitated....was someone really there? The way she felt, she wondered if this was some cruel dream again, and the form was lying there waiting to drag her into terror again....she shook the thoughts away....no, this had to be real...she could smell him....Devi....she took a few hesitant steps....the guilt building with every step....
"Devi?" her voice came out hoarse, raspy....

Why? Why was it that this had to happen? And to him!? True, Devi never had a normal life, but he had normal feelings. Even if they were a bit, 'emo'. He had experienced loss. The loss of his brother when Tarot ran away. Before that even, when he was left out of everything, treated like dirt, practically. He never really loved his parents because of it, hated them sometimes. He always had a special anger toward Tarot for being so different, and at the most crucial point of his life, leaving him like he was just like a cloth is to hag there and dry.
True love was not something he knew, or ever encountered. Until now, however. From the very first time he met her, he like her. Her sweet smile, her soft and gentle voice. Her pleasant face followed his thoughts constantly, and never could he get her off his mind. He really liked her, just, he could never bring himself to say it. Or he'd never found the moment.
Still, the sobs racked his body, the tears trailed down his cheeks, and he couldn't think of anything but her safety, and where she might be now. He hadn't heard any kind of reply to his calls, and it was throwing him into depression. What if he had done that? Or this? Might something have been better? Or nothing at all?
A sharp sound a ways from his snapped him back into his brain, and back into reality. It sounded like when something slides, and then, it tries to stop it's fall. The sound echoed perfectly off the truck, for it was hollow in places, and well conducted sound. He lifted up his head, his eyes moist with tears. Something out there...was moving. He could hear it, the shuffling of footsteps. But who was it, friend or foe?
He was still half-cloaked in shadows when the voice came to him. "Devi?" the voice came out hoarse, raspy....and it didn't sound at all like his love. But, the scent that came on the brezee..he placed it with her face, and sweet smile...Both of his tear-filled eyes looked up from where he lay, and went wide as he saw her. She was unkempt, but all together, it was her.
He felt as though it took a thousand years for him to stand, and come from the shadows, so that he was seen. He stepped up to her, still with the same caution and fear he held when she had brought her fury upon him that day. His ears were flat against his skull, and whine took the place of those sobs. Anyone could tell he was heartbroken, and his eyes sparkled with what he so desired to tell her..but he couldn't bring words to his mouth. Or, at least, not the ones he wished to speak.
"Shanda...", he paused, "Shanda, I-...." He was not able to finish his sentence. He would have told her how much he was sorry that he hurt her, and scared her. He would have, but something else compelled him, and he went up to her. In a small, slow movement, the male made to but his head on her shoulder, give his tattered tail a wag, .....and lace his arms around her, in a sweet embrace.

Shanda's gaze softened a bit when she saw movement in response to her inquiry. She saw the great head rise, turning to face her, the reflection of the moon illuminating both his eyes, wide with shock. She glaced aside, feeling ashamed of herself, feeling a bit awkward under his gaze. Time seemed to go in slow motion as she watched the large wolf rise to his feet, never taking his mismatched eyes off her. As he came out of the shadows, and she was able to fully see him, she wanted burst into tears, but there was no moisture left in her body to produce them. He looked so broken, his own face streaked with tears, and she was the cause....she'd done this to him, and she could barely stand it. And as he approached, so cautious and fearful, she wished she had the strength to bolt from this place. He had every right to be fearful. She was a cruel, heartless, cursed beast, crazy at that, it seemed. She could not make her limbs function, other than to sit. His cries had subsided, and a quiet whine replaced them. It struck her as both longing and hesitant, and his eyes held such strange expressions...expressions that she could not decipher nor understand. She was much confused as he slowly approached her, wishing she could find her voice to tell him to be careful-she was crazy, that it would be better for him to keep his distance, for she didn't know if and when she'd snap again. But his voice broke the silence first...
"Shanda..." "Shanda, I-...."
He seemed hesitant to finish, and instead he slowly approached closer, and crossed over into her personal space. Her every muscle tightened as his head made contact with her shoulder, and before she could protest, she found herself being hugged by the great dark beast that she'd so rudely and cruely spoken to on the beach...
She was utterly confused, not even comprehending or comtemplating the feelings he had. They were foreign to her, but as he held her close, she felt herself relax, gaining a strange strength from him as if absorbing whatever energy he had. She took the gesture in her own way, her own understanding, which was that he was forgiving her for her actions...but why? This caused her to stiffen once more.
She wriggled slightly, trying to slip gently from the embrace. This was not right. How could he just forgive her for what she did to him, just like that? She did not deserve forgivness, or his friendship.
"Devi, please...."she started, still trying her hardest to get free while not offending him.
[yes-i'm loving this also..and I have some even more interesting ideas to work on later...hehe]

He looked over her, her ruffled pelt that stood to all angles, the mass of messy hair that covered her face, and the tear streaks that trailed down her maw. He couldn't help but look away. He'd done this to her, and it pained him deeply. He couldn't stand to see her like she was, and he missed, almost desperately, her soft expression and sweet, blue eyes. Twice almost, as he walked up to her, the male just about stopped, hating himself for the state he had put her in, and the fear that he would cause her even further harm.
But now it was too late for all those thoughts, as he laid his great head upon her shoulder, shocked at how hard and gritty her uncleaned fur was, and yet, the softness it still held. Large fore arms reached up, and circled around her neck and covering some of her shoulder, gripping her tightly in a hug.
But again the emotions came when she squirmed in all intent on getting away from his grip on her, and to him, it scored the male deeper than how he saw her. "Devi, please...." At this he whined, with the same note it held before, but without the caution this time, only the longing. He let go, paws falling to the ground and his head slipping from her shoulder as he moved away, shuffling back several steps away.
A single tear ran down his cheek as he spoke then, and his voice was gruff, and altogether, rough around the edges for how he had been treated himself lately after she had ran off. "I know you don't want to be around me...and I wouldn't even think of forcing you. I know that it's my fault...and that I'm just a brute...", this is where he paused, sniffling and drawing his tail close to his body, pulling his ears back, "If you wish to be alone, or even away from me forever, it is your choice. But I want you to remember something no matter what you choose...."
"......and that is.....that I love you."

Shanda's poor mind was in shambles. After having not been able to think of anything but her past, the things she'd always been told she'd end up doing, and then, despite how she always said she would be the one to change her family's sad history, she'd snapped and hurt two of her only friends. And now as the heartbroken Devi held her close, her mind was thrust into even more confusion. How could he possibly even come near her? The little bit of strength she'd gained from his embrace felt strangely wonderful to her, and it tore her apart to have to struggle away. She just couldn't allow herself to be forgiven...it didn't compute with how she thought things should be....
He whined, the same longing whine but without the hesitance, as she'd began to plead with him. But he complied with her squirming and released his embrace, moving back several steps to give her back her space. Her ears and eyes showed her grief as once again she saw that her actions had caused him inner pain. She began to tremble, as it was steadily growing colder by the second, and for her lack of nutrition.
His voice broke the silence, full of pain and grief, causing what was left of her poor heart to shatter into a million more pieces. "I know you don't want to be around me...and I wouldn't even think of forcing you. I know that it's my fault...and that I'm just a brute..."
Her eyes widened. His fault? How was this his fault? And she didn't think him a brute. She watched as he gathered himself, looking somewhat ashamed, pulling his ears back...she realized that he was beating himself up over all this as much as she was beating herself up. But why? Then his gaze fell on her once more..."If you wish to be alone, or even away from me forever, it is your choice. But I want you to remember something no matter what you choose...."
She watched with a growing dread as he paused, his expression seeming to change, softening...that look in his eyes...Shanda felt suddenly lightheaded, as Devi finished his confession.
"......and that is.....that I love you."
Her eyes flew open wide as a wave of strange emotions that she'd never experienced flooded over her like a crashing wave...She couldn't withstand the force of them, her weakened form swayed under the pressure, until she finally collapsed to the cold ground, her mind swimming, his last words ringing in her head...for a moment she lost touch with her physical form. That word....Love....

Her ears and eyes showed her grief as once again she saw that her actions had caused him inner pain. She began to tremble, as it was steadily growing colder by the second, and for her lack of nutrition. Devi heart was almost shattered as much as her's, for so great was the pull to go back over to her. He wanted to go and comfort her, to warm her shivering body.....but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Had she not just wanted him away as it was?
For a moment it was all silence, till his gruff voice tore through the silence, causing him to shudder despite how he actually felt. He was not cold, only hungry, and full of despair...Emotions that could tear through anyone just as fast as the attack that comes from the enemy, both sworn to hurt. Her eyes widened after he spoke, and she seemed almost aware, if only for a moment.
He gathered himself as he prepared to speak again, a slight pause than seemed to almost lengthen to a stretch that reached a mile long....his ears reached down and went flat against his skull, and his tail drew itself up to the side, twitching ever so slightly. Then, he spoke, and then another pause....
....then he finished what all he had to say to her, and with that last sentence, he would have broke down in tears if it had not been for what happened next.
Even if he didn't quite know what all she might have thought, he watched on almost in agony as she swayed to and fro, and a combination of dread and worry threw itself upon him. Only moments later, he called out her name as he sprang forth, lunging in a desperate attempt to put himself between the cold, hard ground, and her. "Shanda!"

Shanda felt nothing as she fell towards the cold earth. She only briefly saw the swift movement of Devi's body rushing toward her before her vision went black. She felt so light, almost as if she were floating. The lack of nutrition and water, combined with Devi's mind boggling confession were too much for her weakened form to handle. If he'd been successful in breaking her fall, she'd never known.
In her mind, she fought to keep her head above the troubled, confused sea of thoughts, feeling like any moment, they'd overcome her and just choke the life from her. Not a single thought made sense, all coming in fragments, hitting her all at once. She couldn't even focus on one thing or another....she felt lighter and lighter, slowly slipping away into the depths of her broken mind....then one phrase boomed over the rest, the only thing that came in clear...
"......and that is.....that I love you."
It played over and over, louder and louder, bringing her mind out of the depths, as if a hand reaching down to rescue a drowning creature out of a raging sea...She was beginning to come back to her senses, only slightly. She was limp, unable to move, or even open her eyes. She could sense his presence, feel his warmth. She did not want him to go...a light whimper sounded from her maw....
"Devi, don't go. Please don't go....so cold......"her voice came at a whisper, almost to faint to hear. She did not know what love was, only that it caused Devi to want to be near her, to help her, even if she'd repeatedly hurt him and pushed him away. And it had kept her from drowning in her scrambled thoughts...whatever it was, it was strong, very strong, and right now she needed all the strength she could get....

Divinations just couldn't understand it know, what he felt toward the black and white fae. It was all mixed. Just as mixed as his anger and rage toward himself as it collided with the love he felt for her, and the care he felt for his brother.
His movements were desperate, and in complete haste. Oh, if he wasn't able to get there in time..and she collided with the ground...he'd never forgive himself. He was exausted, it was true, but his emotions drove him on, and moments later he made contact with the ground as she landed safely on his broad back.
The male gave almost a sigh, relief flooding his system as his body slowed down, great heart returning to it's normal, rhythmic beat, and his lungs slowed their intake of air that was crucial for life. His ears perked straight up only seconds later, barely able to catch the sounds that she made. First a whimper, in which he laid his head across her shoulder, in an effort to comfort her, then, a small sentence so quietly said he had a hard time deciphering exactly what she had spoken.
"Devi, don't go. Please don't go....so cold......" Devi returned her whimper, whether or not she might have heard it, and it too, longed for her company. Gently, he set her on the ground, and with a flick of his ragged tail, he crawled over top of her, using his own, shivering body to keep her warm. Now, the male cared not about what happened to himself, only wanting to know and be sure that she was going to be alright.

Warmth flooded over her, and with the warmth, again came the strange gaining of strength. Before too long, Shanda felt reconnected to her physical form, became aware of the fact that Devi was right there, trying his best to keep her warm, despite that he himself was shivering. She was very grateful, and at the same time felt sorrow knowing that he was sacrificing his comfort to tend to her. No one had ever done that for her before, and it was a completely new feeling.
Shanda's heavy eyelids opened slowly, and the first sight she noticed was dark clouds moving swiftly in, covering the beautiful night sky that had been present. A sharp, much colder gust of wind dropped down through the trees and across the beach, the heavy smell of moisture following suit. She tried to lift her head...Devi's great dark head was right there, so close; the thought of what he was doing for her warmed her soul, and she smiled weakly. An ice cold drop of liquid hit her on the nose....ice cold rain that was not far from being frozen...Her eyes opened wider...It would not be good for either one of them to get caught out in an ice storm.
"Devi?" her voice came stronger now. "Devi, we must get to shelter. If you can help me, we can go around the other side of this tree. My den is there, under the roots. It will be a tight fit, but we can both fit." She nuzzled the large head that rested so near, making sure that he heard her. Shanda did not like storms....they scared her to no end...and in her condition, she'd never be able to make it to her den by herself...
