Anubis blinked and snapped out of his reviere, he listened to her words with curiosity.
"Anubis, if you don't mind me asking, are you from around here? I have only been here but a few weeks, and was curious about the lands more inland of here,"
Ah now that question was one he had not expected, how to answer her? He thought for a moment before turning his grey eyes back to her and let out a sigh as he began to answer her.
"No actually I come from a desert far away from here, I don't know that much about most of the inlands here either.
He replied with a glance around the area, he was curious and seemed intrigued by every little thing that moved about him.

Shanda did well at keeping her disappointment concealed. He was as she, wandering traveler in a new place, curious about the area around. He had come a long way if he came from a desert...she didn't even know what a desert was, only that there were none around here that she'd ever heard of.
She watched him as he eyed his surroundings. He almost acted as if he'd never seen a beach before.
"I come from the lands far north of here, where it is winter most of the year. I have been following the beach for the better part of a year now. I have not ventured far inland, just beyond that tree line behind you. There are nice places to sleep and a small stream to drink from not far from here. The salt air here at the water can be harsh if you are not used to it."
she paused her speech. She was being unusually talkative. What had gotten into her? Loneliness could make one go insane....
[ooc-I'm gonna go now-got work tomorrow and I've literally been at this computer all day-getting a bit stiff and my kitty's mad that i have been ignoring her. I'll be on tomorrow though....nice thing about my work-Internet access whenever I want it!]

He listened to her words quietly, looking in the direction of the wind he only nodded his head showing he was listning to her words. His grey eyes closed slowly as a soft hum began to rise from his throat, the song he hummed was older then him as it was passed down from his old pack's Shaman.
Slowly his tail flicked as his ears perked, he could almost hear the voic of the elderly shaman singing th words in his head as he lay there listening to the salty wind blow past.

Shanda didn't know if he was listening or not, though when he nodded his head, she figured he was. He seemed distracted, lost in thought. She was beginning to feel like she was bothering him, though it was he who had come to her. she didn't know how to respond or if she should at all. She heard a strange noise, and realized that he had began to hum. It was a unique tune, and he seemed to be in another place, most likely replaying memories that the song he hummed brought back to mind.
She found the tune intriguing, and considered whether or not to question him about it. So far he was a wolf of few words. So instead of disturbing his peace, she instead laid down and watched the sea and the slowly sinking sun as evening had begun to arrive. She listened to the tune, wondering what had brought it about...but she'd let him talk first, if he even wanted to...she didn't want to be the jabbering, annoying female....

His ears perked forward as he continued to hum, the soft tune becoming words in his head which surprised him as he had long ago forgotten the words but now they were coming back to him, if it was the salty air that did this he did not know, a slow smile curved his black lips as his grey eyes opened. Looking up toward the sky he watched the gulls fly by without much expression and soon he began to sing the song, it was in a soft whisper but the salt air had a thing for carrying tunes far and wide. Meet me after dark again and I'll hold you I want nothing more than to see you there And maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away We'll be lost before the dawn
If only night can hold you where i can see you, my love Then let me never ever wake again And maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away We'll be lost before the dawn
Somehow I know that we can't wake again from this dream It's not real, but it's ours
Maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away We'll be lost before the dawn
Maybe tonight, we'll fly so far away We'll be lost before the dawn

Shanda was watching the waves roll ashore, listening to the song Anubis was humming, and was slightly startled when his humming stopped and was replaced with words. She perked her ears forward, listening to the quiet words as he sung them. She found the tune strange, a tune that one would possibly sing to one's mate, and thought that maybe he was thinking of someone from his past, but he was smiling, so it must have been a plesant memory.
Shanda was normally a quiet, keep to herself kind of wolf, but this male who'd spoken so little and had come to join her at the water's edge was so mysterious, she was having a hard time keeping questions from spewing from her maw. She continued to listen to the words, until she just had to speak...
"tis a beautiful tune, " she simply stated, hoping that maybe Anubis would speak, or at least tell her to shut up and leave him alone....anything....this was driving her mad....

He nodded at her words "Yes.....Our pack's Shaman taught it to me when I was but a young pup." He replied as he opened his grey eyes, his tail flicked and wrapped around himself slowly as he looked toward her with that same smile still on his maw.
He noticed the female was a silent one and he wondered why that was? Maybe she was unuse to strange wolves appearing out of nowhere to talk to her, eh yeah sure....that wasn't the reason.

Shanda could keep her curiosity in no longer. He'd have to tell her to shut up to stop her from talking now. The breeze was calming as evening drew closer. The gulls were slowly disappearing from the sky to find their place for the night.
"Do you miss your pack?" she asked, watching his expression, and then adding before he had a chance to answer.
"You mentioned desert-I'm not sure I know what that is. How did you end up here, on this lonely beach, so far from home?" she paused...."please forgive my curiosity. There has not been anyone for me to talk to here for weeks....If I'm bothering you, I'll go away," she added, and became slightly embarrassed. How was she ever going to gain any confidence in herself if she could stop apologizing for every little thing...

He looked to her with a blink and he smiled lightly "I don't mind." he said quietly as he began to wonder on how to answer her questions.
"My pack is dead...they couldn't find the water they needed and died of thirst.....I wndered away to find food and water on my own and ended up here."
He turned his gaze back upward at the gulls that flew about lazily.

Shanda was sorry she'd asked. She felt bad for him. Her old pack had been cruel to her, and she didn't miss them one bit, but Anubis seemed to care for his pack. Loss was a hard thing, though the only real loss she'd experienced was leaving her mother behind. That was the only thing she missed. Her eyes fell to her paws as she silently though of something to say-what could she say? He'd been through a terrible loss, and she had no idea how it must feel...
"I'm sorry," she said quietly, looking up at him, a truely sincere look in her eye, and looked away. "I cant even imagine what that must have been like...." she whispered, her voice trailing off....
