Orion watched Pollux dart by him in hot pursuit as he struggled to catch his breath. There was no time for this. He forced himself to his paw, his hind foot throbbing slightly where he'd twisted on it. He pushed the pain aside, coughing as he sucked in huge gulps of air.
He turned back to face the hunt just as he wintessed the old buck thrashing about, attempting to fend off his sister's attacks with his antlers; it was injured. Orion grinned as he realized he'd atleast slowed the creature down as he rushed in to rejoin the hunt. Quickly he observed Pollux's actions. She seemed to be teasing the deer....ah, making it expend it's energy, he though as he darted in from the side, taking a few good nips at the deer's one good hind leg, while trying to avoid it's sharp hooves. This was more challenging than he thought it would be...but then again, he had nothing to base the experience off of...

With a full pack, hunting large game was a simple past time, but with two wolves it took a bit longer than Pollux would have liked. In fact with one aging wolf and a youngster, it was pretty much maddening for the old perfectionist.
The Scout kept on with her dance trying to tire the old buck out, who kept going for her as the source of all his pain and misery. The female didn't much care for being the bait...but it took a learned hunter to do the job. Though back in the day it would have certainly been Castor who would have been in her place now. He had more of the taste for danger. But Pollux shouldn't have been day dreaming. As the Buck made a new more risky manuever to save himself, instead of thrashing his head from side to side racking the ground. He pulled his head up ready to bring his enormous rack of antlers down on the scout.
Pollux darted out of the way, but cut it a little too close, a gash on her hind leg that looked a bit nasty. She growled, waiting for the buck to bring his head up once more. She would finish this, she would go for the neck this time....

Orion watched in horror as the large buck brought his rack of antlers down almost right on top of his sister.
"Pullox!" he called out as she sprang away just in time, yet receiving a nasty gash on her rear leg. Enough of this already! No creature would harm his family. He didn't know exactly what he was going to do, but angrily lunged up at the deer. He was partially blinded by his anger and without a specific target. His teeth found hide, and he latched on tightly, pushing his body away from the deer, trying to rip the mouth full of hide and flesh from the deer's body. He felt flesh tear, the taste of warm blood, as the deer stumbled...he'd hit it in the shoulder, crippling it further; hopefully enough for Pollux to hit her target.
(sorry for all the dissappearance...hopefully I'm back a little more steady now...)

Limping lightly, Pollux could only nod as she watched her brother leap upon the Buck, that would be enough she thought, as she flew like a metallic blur at the creatures throat, hanging on for dear life as her leg hung limply below her.
The female shook and growled, her jaw locked against the old Buck, he would drop, he would die, and this would be over. There was no anger in her, but instead an icy fear...she had crippled herself most likely. Where would that leave her?

A flash of metallic fur caught Orion's attention as he landed on all fours after ripping the flesh from the deer's shoulder. The animal was stumbling about, and Pollux was making her move. He'd accomplished something, and darted in next to his wounded sister as she latched onto the creature's throat as it thrashed about. He lunged to make a lower hit on it's neck, to topple it and end it's thrashing. He hit the deer hard, clamping his jaws onto the underside of it's neck below Pollux's thoat hold, using his weight to force the deer to the ground. Soon it would all be over and they could take their prize back to Sofika.

The deer kicked and bellowed, but began to falter, it took a few steps, the weight of two full grown wolves and the lack of air was slowing it down, the old Buck shook himself, make a few more feeble attempts, and fell, making a loud fleshy sound as it hit the hard packed earth.
Holding on a few moments more until she was sure it was good and dead, Pollux relinquished her grasp of the animal and licked her chops, now bloodied from the wounds she inflicted on it. She limped forward towards Orion and licked him.
"You alright...you hurt?" She fussed over him, this was his first hunt, and if he had been injured badly she would never forgive herself, he was so very young.

Orion felt the deer begin to fall, and leaned further into the beast, his teeth burried deep in it's neck. Warm blood filled his mouth. He landed straddled over the deer when it hit the ground, keeping a close eye on Pollux as she kept her strangling hold of it's throat. Soon the prey lay motionless in the forest, and the hunters finally able to release their death hold.
Orion licked the blood from his maw, staring down at the great dead beast, a look of pride and accomplishment in his eyes. Out of the corner of his eye, he watched Pollux limp towards him...limping...he remembered her injury as she began fussing over him.
His ears pulled back.
"Pollux, I'm fine. But you, you're wounded. That gash looks bad," he spoke, voice and eyes full of worry as he moved to get a better look. She was bleeding. He gently tried to lick the wound, throwing her a worried glance, hoping he was not causing her pain. He had not felt the pain in his own ankle since the real brunt of the hunt began. He moved to her side, to support her if she should need it. He was unsure of what to do now, but knew that she needed to rest, to tend to her wound before they began their trek back to Arnlan with the deer.
"We should rest a bit, no?" he spoke as calm as he could, but voice still laced with worry for his older sister.
(gah...sorry for the suckiness.....brain-dead...trying my best to get back into the grove...)
